Morv's got a +2 so I'd be good with Issil taking the ring.

Despite being a small village, Acisazi has a Base Value of 500gp and a Purchase Limit of 2,500gp. You should be able to find those scrolls of touch of the sea after a short time spent shopping. Any other purchases? Victor had mentioned wanting to seek a magic shop earlier.

Morvena Sarini |

Depending on how we want to manage things, it sounds like it'd be best for those interested to purchase potions of Touch of the Sea; since it doesn't last very long (1 min/level) I'd assume that we'd want them mainly as backup in case we get into a fight with something nasty.
We could get scrolls for everyone, of course, but Morv is the only one who can cast it so it'd take some time to get us all buffed up if we went that route.

Inspire Courage also gives you a +2 bonus to your damage, Victor and Geoffrey.

Roger Schmitt |

I wouldn't think that applies to spells? If it does I'll be happy to add it.

Geoffrey Piersym |

With that To Hit roll I don't think it matters, but definitely will remember for future reference!

![]() |

If the spell requires an attack roll, then inspire courage provides its bonuses to the attack roll and damage roll.
So no help with magic missile or fireball but yes to acid splash and scorching ray.
It's been addressed in a number of places, but here's one FAQ that discusses it. I've seen others, but this is the first one I found right now.

GM Red, I don't say this enough but I'm really enjoying the game and I'm glad that we've already made it as far as we have. Thanks again for running! :)

![]() |

Thank you! It's not always clear if players are enjoying a PbP game or not, so I really appreciate hearing it directly. Doing my best to keep things interesting as we move through this massive adventure!

Morvena Sarini |

^You're very welcome :)

We have a lot of party chemistry here, so I'm having a lot of fun.
I had to drop an AP because we were just kicking down doors, fighting the monsters within, and grabbing loot- no real interaction between players, no real backstories shared, no real interaction.
Luckily this team does not have that problem. You don't mind when Issil thinks about her family history (kinda making it up on the spot.) It helps me really flush her personality. Now I need to figure out how to get it into some roleplay. But we'll figure it out later.
I guess I'm saying I wouldn't have stuck around if the GM didn't give us a chance to get a feel for our characters, and my teammates didn't interact with me. It's been really fun, everyone!

![]() |

Ditto!
I've been really busy with other matters lately, so my posting has been less than inspired.

Roger Schmitt |

Of course I'm having fun. Victor would disappear in a puff of pot smoke if he ceased to have fun.
*I've enjoyed your additions to your backstory Issil. Keep them coming.
Padraig: I hope everything is ok and its just the holidays keeping you tied up.

Hmm, did I understand right that you guys are all being towed by Marty via rope? If so, let me know if you intend on letting go of the rope now that he's chosen to dive in, or to hold on and see where the manta ray takes you.
If you're swimming independently of that, as seems to be the case with Morv, that's cool too. I want to get a sense of who is where is all :)

Geoffrey Piersym |

Geoffrey's first inclination is to let go of the rope, since he would be dragging the folding boat underwater with him. Once we have secured the boat then Geoff, Padraig and Rosebud can follow the others down.

Morvena Sarini |

I kinda thought we were still in the boat and Marty was towing the boat? Then again I might've missed somewhere where we had to ditch it and get into the water before getting to the Eye. If so, just disregard the part about jumping out of the boat and take it as Morvena immediately descending from the surface.

Roger Schmitt |

I was under the impression we had arrived and were disembarking from the boat to swim down underwater. As far as securing the boat its just a matter of shrinking it back down to carrying size and putting it into someone's backpack.
Marty was going to play the role of underwater jetski to get people down to our location quicker.

I think we'll go with everyone who failed the Will Save will dive still hanging on to Marty. Makes sense since it helps them descend faster, and the compulsion makes you want to descend quickly. Anyone who made the save let go of the rope as soon as Marty went in and is still at the surface level, unless they say otherwise. The folding boat has been stowed.

Wait, draugr? When did we travel to Skyrim? :3

Merry Christmas, friends. The leisure and luxury to play this game is a gift.
Glad tidings and great joy this day!

Went ahead and made the assumption you'd open the box after getting a close enough look to believe water had seeped through it.

Rosebud Glistenwings |

Totally willing to let someone else take the bladed scarf, if they want to use it.
Mostly just roleplaying Rosebud with that post, but a bladed scarf would be an interesting weapon for her, especially if she invested a feat in Weapon Finesse. That would come at the expense of developing her archery skills, though.

Happy New Year, guys!
May 2020 usher into your lives more meaning, more happiness, and more prosperity.

Sorry, Pádraig, but I've got two questions. How is Pádraig able to reach that white draugr with his rapier from 10 feet away? I'd mentioned when combat began that the squares represent 10 feet on this map.
Second, what did Rosebud cast here, and where's the damage roll? Checked her sheet for 'Ray', but wasn't able to find anything.

Forgot to move PH's icon on the map. Fixed it.
Second, what did Rosebud cast here, and where's the damage roll? Checked her sheet for 'Ray', but wasn't able to find anything.
I screwed up Rosebud's first post, forgetting to make the attack roll and forgetting to add the additional damage from Inspire Courage. I did include the link to the orison disrupt undead with its spell description and other details.
I tried to correct my mistake by adding a subsequent post that made the attack roll and added the additional damage from Inspire Courage.

Meanwhile, Issil struggles to advance.
Swim: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
I think that's too low to move, so I'll keep Issil in place.
DC10 to swim in calm water, quarter-speed as a move action or half-speed as a full-round action.
According the Table: Combat Adjustments Underwater, Aquatic Terrain, you can move at half speed, if you're on firm terrain on the bottom. However, there may be other factors the GM is aware of that further restrict movement and other actions.

![]() |

My last couple of posts make me realize, I should ask for clarification, GM.
But if PH did swim toward the draugr, he could have only swum 5ft (quarter speed), and he wouldn't be close enough to attack, or he could have swum 10ft as a full-round action, but he still wouldn't have been able to attack the draugr.
If we're on the sea floor, no issue, I think, and no Swim check was actually necessary.

![]() |

Tracking 3D combat is always tricky to me, so I try not to think too hard about whether you're at the same level on the z-axis.
Given that combat is already well underway, let's just make the assumption you guys are on the sea floor here. Going forward, I'll be more mindful of calling for swim checks while underwater.

Morvena Sarini |

Hey folks, had to take my husband to the ER tonight and they wanted him to stay a day or so for observation. Things are fine but if my posting is spotty for the next day or so that'll be why.

![]() |

Got you both in my prayers.

Geoffrey Piersym |

That sucks K. Hope you and DH pull through!

Roger Schmitt |

If this is too much on the line of OOC chatter please ignore it.
Thanks to the GMs hints and the mind control magic that we've seen tossed around so far, its a fair idea that Nerrenn is under that swoon. So far he and his pet shark haven't caused me any harm so I think I'll have Marty switch targets to this Menotheguro, who is bad news. Funny the timing on him and the last boss in our other game!
Does anyone have anything available to break the control on Nerrenn to help turn the tide here? Also, someone please drag those that can't swim back here so we can put our numbers to bear. Marty won't last long verses this thing. I'll try to stay alive but my rogue hp isn't great.

Geoffrey Piersym |

Roger that Victor. Geoff will have to move in closer then.

Issil Tanessen |

All the times I tried to cast Spiritual Ally, I should have cast Spiritual Weapon instead. Sorry about that, the names are really similar.
The big difference is that the weapon cannot flank. Sorry Marty, you're on your own...

Had a busy weekend, folks, and I'm feeling a little under the weather tonight.. Will resume tomorrow.

![]() |

Looks like this rule will apply:
Invisibility: Underwater, an invisible creature still displaces water, making it possible to spot and target it as if it had only concealment, as per the description of invisibility on page 563 of the Core Rulebook.
So it'll have concealment, but you can technically 'see' it.

I went ahead and updated our loot tracker with your recent findings. Feel free to claim items, if you haven't already.

The pale blue rhomboid ioun stone confers a +2 STR bonus. Probably best for Geoffrey or Victor.
Morvena can probably make best use of the spellbook. Hopefully a lot of good stuff.
If everyone already has a ring of protection +1, Rosebud could use it.
Recommend we sell the other stuff that no one needs.

Geoffrey Piersym |

Geoffrey has a belt of Giant Strength so the ioun stone won't help him. Looks like Victor wins that one!

Roger Schmitt |

I'm a dex rogue so prolly Issil actually would get more use from the STR ioun stone. Would really only help his damage by +1 on his tail barb.
Victor already has a +2 ring of pro
Victor would love that spyglass... goes with his pirate hat wonderfully.
Victor is already wearing a +2 mithril chain shirt.

Morvena Sarini |

While Morv could make use of the Ring of Protection +1 she's otherwise got more defensive options than Rosebud (as far as I can tell) in regards to protective spells and such; I'm happy to let Rosebud have it since she's more likely to willingly venture into melee than Morv is.
Otherwise, the spellbook is all that Morv is currently interested in :)

Issil Tanessen |

I have no strength enhancements, so I could use the Ioun Stone.
I would love that Mithril Chain Shirt. When we have free time Issil will try to Glamour it.
