Hope you folks enjoyed the banquet. After I'd read over this book, it was one of my favorite parts personally. Dressing up fancy, trying quite possibly the weirdest food ever served, interacting with stuffy nobles and hoping not to bungle your own meal; a nice change from Book 2's dungeon diving into the Lucky Bones.
I think that's what's so nice about APs. You get a little bit of everything, and it's done in such a way that not any one thing ever gets tired. I think you'll find a similar framework in CotCT, Larry.
For HR, the hard part is managing things like the Rebellion System, especially in play-by-post when timing is hard to determine. The fact that this particular book takes place mostly abroad adds an extra cog to the system, but I think what we'll do is run a week of activities each time we get back to Kintargo.

Roger Schmitt |

Ya sorry Victor wasn't his usual self at the banquet. I sorta painted myself in a bit of a corner with his current persona in that situation. Tried to keep it legit but not go too far as to screw things up for everyone.
Great scene though, well done everyone.

Loved the change of pace, the RP, and the interesting guests. I wonder if we'll encounter any of them again...

Geoffrey Piersym |

Geoffrey was not himself here as well, as he is nowhere near considering himself nobility class. Heck it was by sheer chance he met up with Morvena to begin with he he.
Still that was a nice change of pace, but still it was also intense in its own way.
I suspect we will encounter them again...perhaps sooner than you think...

Morvena Sarini |

Yes, this dinner sequence was a great deal of fun :)

Morvena Sarini |

Btw Larry, I don't know who else you've invited for your game but I know my brother would be interested if you're still looking for players.

![]() |

Cool. I'll reach out to him. I'm setting up the campaign thread.

![]() |

For those interested in the Curse of the Crimson Throne AP, you can ninja-dot into the Gameplay thread to add it to your campaign page.
Once you've posted and deleted that post in the Gameplay thread, then please join us in the Discussion thread.

Sounds to me like we're leaning more towards avoiding this obviously sketchy part of town. Would you like to do your shopping back at the Opal Market, and then we can head for our next destination?
Vyre has a very different selection of items. The following are guaranteed available after a short time spent shopping:
For all other items, Vyre has a Base Value of 14,400 gp, meaning anything under that has a 75% of being available.

![]() |

Managing 1 PC's resources for both PH and Rosebud now, I have to be careful in my purchases. I'll pass.

Geoffrey Piersym |

While Geoffrey has no interest in any of these items, he is willing to donate some of his funds should someone else want to get something.

Morvena Sarini |

Hum....Morv *might* look at picking up the Lesser Extend Metagmagic Rod as she's got enough gold to afford it. I'll think on this.

Roger Schmitt |

Snake eyes for Padraig and the wicked witch of the north!
Hopefully Victor has better luck, I do plan to make use of charm person.

![]() |

Victor, if you want to do more exploring, can you help nudge us in the direction you want to go?

Roger Schmitt |

I'm good with going to our next rally stop. A little birdy told me there wasn't much actual detain in this city so no sense in putting anyone's feet to the fire when there's plenty of fire to be had in another location!
Onward to where ever we deem our next locale to be!

![]() |

Not sure who told you that ;)
You guys have seen and done what there is to see and do in Vyre, so let's move on to our next destination, which is either back to Kintargo, or directly to Acisazi (aquatic elf village), or the Mountains. Here's a refresher on your main goals for now:
"Acisazi. I recall you rescued those sea elves, and Aava took them back to Acisazi to investigate. An alliance with the aquatic elves would be a significant asset in defending Kintargo from naval responses from Cheliax."
"Then there's Vyre. You may recall retrieving a set of ledgers belonging to the Grey Spiders at the Lucky Bones. Vyre has long been treated as a free city by the government, which values the fact that Vyre is a place where officials can go to unwind. Maintaining good relations with Vyre is important to the Chelish government, and thus securing Vyre’s support for Kintargo’s independence would be a significant boon to the Silver Ravens."
Octavio scribbles a set of mountains with a road through them. "Finally, there's the Menador Mountains. While the mountains aren’t impassably rugged, there’s only one navigable pass through the mountains as far as troop movements and trade with the rest of Cheliax are concerned: the Menador Gap. If this pass were to close, Cheliax would be unable to send additional ground troops directly to Kintargo, and would have to move around the mountains through Nidal or up through Pezzack—both significant detours through areas fraught with their own political troubles."

Morvena Sarini |

Since we're already 'out and about' and have access to a ship, my vote would be to head to Acisazi next.

Roger Schmitt |

Sounds reasonable. I'm good with whichever, and I would think the Elf visit would seem more pressing than stopping an invading army that likely isn't coming yet.

![]() |

Yeah, PH would like to pay the Acisazi a visit.
Then, maybe we can spend a few days in Kintargo managing the rebellion, before we head to the mountains.

Geoffrey Piersym |

Acisazi gets my vote, so Acisazi it is! (Unless Issil needs to look for more beet juice :P)

![]() |

Good point, Issil. I recall we still have the cloak of the manta ray, and some air bottles. Did you guys pick up anything else that may assist with underwater fighting?

Geoffrey Piersym |

Didn't we pick up a Folding Boat at one point?

Roger Schmitt |

Victor still has the Manta Ray cloak yes.
I also have air crystal x1
I'm pretty sure the folding boat won't help MUCH underwater. But it will give us a good fall back ride home.

Can we upgrade the folding boat to a folding submarine - and paint it yellow?
We talked about getting a spell added to Morvena's spellbook, and possibly getting a scroll or two for Issil.

Morvena Sarini |

Yeah, we talked about buying stuff but I'm not sure that we actually ever did...I think we kept getting distracted with other stuff!
Right now, Morv can cast Water Breathing on up to 4 of us if she uses all of her 3rd level spell slots. It lasts 2 hours/level so that's 14 hours of water breathing goodness.
She can cast Air Bubble more times per day (up to 5) but it's only good for 7 minutes at a time.

Roger Schmitt |

Water breathing can be divided up between targets with one casting, sharing the duration.

Morvena Sarini |

Derp! You're right. So maybe that'll be enough to do for now.

Rosebud Glistenwings |

I imagine Rosebud's fiddle-playing and dancing something inspired by Lindsey Stirling.

![]() |

I missed the part of the GM's post about us having already reached the shore. Oops!

![]() |

Whether or not a creature who is grappled can also provide a flanking bonus is contentious on the boards. I say because that creature still threatens, it provides the flanking bonus.
I've always ruled the same way. Some very excitable, passionate people feel we're wrong.

Roger Schmitt |

Sorry P, I never noticed you cast Good Hope. My bard knowledge is pretty low, are you at the point now where inspire isn't a standard action? If so then wow, that really is a boost.

![]() |

At level-7 it's a move action.

Rosebud Glistenwings |

Divine favor's range is 'personal,' so yes, she cast the spell on herself.

The Rexus Victocora |

Hey guys, I'm going to be traveling to NYC from Wednesday to Saturday, and while I still intend on continuing normal posting rates (once daily, likely in the evening), there may be times when I'm unable to.
Any suggestions on the less-tourist-trap spots I should hit while there? This is my first time going.

Jog across Brooklyn Bridge. Take a selfie. After you break a sweat.
Central Park. Hang out with the buskers. Tip the ones you like. Sing along if you can.
On Wednesday evening, go to the Apollo in Harlem for Amateur Night. Somebody might be famous someday.
Spend a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening at Mehanata aka the Bulgarian Bar, dancing with the gypsies.
If you see Mayor De Blasio, give him a raspberry on his soft white belly. If you can reach it. He's tall. Tell him it's from the pervy Spiderman in Times Square.
Stop by Trump Tower. Tell the receptionist you're Russian. Or Ukrainian. Or an intern in Adam Schiff's office. (And get me a MAGA hat, please!)
Across the street is CNN HQ. Tell them Anderson Cooper is hot. Then unfurl your Fake News banner.
(Some of the above suggestions were made in jest. I'll let you guess which ones. ;-))

The first four ones he he.

Haha! Thanks, Larry. There are at least two things on that list that I intend on doing. :)

Issil Tanessen |

Find a local pizza shop. No, not Sbarros. An actual local pizza shop.
Similarly, try a local bagel shop.
Central Park is a great place to go, because you can spend the entire day there.
I've never been through the entire Metropolitan Museum of Art, and it's next to Central Park. Heck, a bunch of museums line up next to it (nearby apartments cost millions of dollars to rent, so you'd better believe everything fancy is there.)
Find a smaller neighborhood to walk around for a bit. Once you're away from Wall Street/Times Square/South Harlem, you'll notice how each neighborhood differs.

Roger Schmitt |

Drive by Yankee stadium and give it the bird, no wait, double bird.
Swear at the traffic that is endless.
Watch the parade on Thursday.
Don't put any loonies or toonies (I know I spelled them wrong) into any machines.
Fill up on gas if you go into New Jersey.

Lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Wishing everyone a blessed day with great friends and loving family.
Go Bears!

![]() |

I've returned! I thought I lived in a big city until I visited NYC. I enjoyed the visit, but - damn - it was absolutely crazy on Black Friday. We did find some quieter spots in Central Park and loved the respite and views there after a day of bustle. Fun trip overall, not something I'd do too frequently, especially already living the urban life daily.
Hope you guys enjoyed Thanksgiving, I intend on getting us moving again today.

With the morale bonus from heroism, PH has a +4 Swim mod, and Rosebud has a +6 mod.
The ring of swimming would be a big help, but if someone has a greater need, he or she should take it.
