Not much cosplay at PaizoCon. I'm going to run custom games of Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, as well as to playtest both RPG 2.0 and PACG Core.

Khayal Bin Haleen |

I feel that Khayal has really come into his own. After that last set of attacks where he did “Yazi” damage. And next level he can finally pick up the feat he has been working towards the whole campaign, “relentless butcher” just in time to go fight the captors of Shirin.

Just to let everyone know, I'll be on Kerr Lake, NC/VA border, tomorrow, 01 June. I'm not going to make it back home until very late Friday evening.
Last month when I went boating, I got a terrible sunburn. So the theme tomorrow is going to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdGj-FVxOcs
(Which everyone might need after this battle with the fire elementals, surrounded by reflective wall-to-wall brass.)
Keep posting!

GM Niles Iron Gods |

Hey ya'll. In the past year my Iron Gods table went from 5 to 3. Currently the party is level 11 and we are almost done with the 4th Book. I'm looking for someone to jump in, but with some caveats. I'd like someone to play one of the (many) NPC's the heroes have met in their long adventure. Currently the party is a robot Hunting Ranger, An Android Arcanist, a Savage Technologist Rogue and an GMNPC Alien Kasatha Techslinger. Options for additional characters (that can join immediately) are the following
1) (easiest to add) Peytr Meracnin (11 Druid of Gozreh) a formerly human Druid who was tortured into insanity by Dominion of the Black and then murdered. The party reincarnated him as a Dwarf and now he feels he owes a debt to the party.
2) (Not that hard to add) Hellion 11 Android Cleric of...Hellion . Murderous AI god that the party captured using technology and bent to their will. He was a cohort for one of the recently retired characters. He is dangerously insane, but bound by a technological artifact to obey and help the party.
There are a few other options that could be added, but not immediately.
If you are interested in joining us let me know.

Khayal Bin Haleen |

It seems that this guy is tied to khayal’s ring. And Khayal must defeat him in single combat. If he ends up being cooperative, I posted in spoilers a challenge to him for single combat where my damage will be non lethal. If he attacks, I posted a request in spoilers that Khayal take him on alone.

I have posted a few rounds worth of actions for Khayal. Just to keep things going so everyone is not waiting around. If you feel you must intervene, I will not be sad as a player. Though Khayal is confident in his ability (and so am I).

Khayal Bin Haleen |

I think it’s fine cinematically, but I was not trying to stun him, I was trying to knock him unconscious. I think they are different effects.
Non Lethal Damage: Do not deduct the nonlethal damage number from your current hit points. It is not "real" damage. Instead, when your nonlethal damage equals your current hit points, you're staggered (see below), and when it exceeds your current hit points, you fall unconscious.
Unconscious: Unconscious creatures are knocked out and helpless. Unconsciousness can result from having negative hit points (but not more than the creature's Constitution score), or from nonlethal damage in excess of current hit points.
Stunned: A stunned creature drops everything held, can't take actions, takes a –2 penalty to AC, and loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any).

It's a difficult read on my part. I was trying to see what the effect of nonlethal damage would result in on an elemental, and what "elemental traits" came up with was:
- Immunity to bleed, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning.
- Elementals do not breathe, eat, or sleep.
So if you do nonlethal damage, the elemental doesn't fall asleep, it cannot, and it is not stunned, it cannot be stunned, so the only answer I came up with is that nonlethal damage does not affect the elemental.
I would be more than happy to read a ruling on this specific question. "Defeat" has a broad range in definition, and some kind of binding would be acceptable in this case, if Khayal had a binding spell or artifact. But fire elementals are only afraid of, and affected by, water sources, so in conclusion only a brand new, never-before-seen spell called water chains of binding would be effective.
There's another reason for the elder fire elemental's chaotic nature - it's insane. The book The Impossible Eye says so.

Immune to sleep effects is not the same as immune to becoming unconscious.
Elves and Dragons are immune to sleep effects. You can still knock them the f@~& out.

GM_Pace |

True, but they have biology. Even our fire-dwarves have biology in addition to magical effects. A fire/water/earth/wind elemental has...quantum effects? Arrrghh!
I think this is why a lot of GMs don't like planar travel and/or non-biological monsters. There's not much I can do when the book says "they fight to the death". I'm going to have to search the Pazio boards on this.

Hajar nar Jundi |

I'll be leaving for Mexico on Sunday 6/17 and returning Sunday 6/24. I *might* have internet there and be able to post. However, please bot Hajar or Rayhan if you need.

Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, *gets out spray bottle*
Unless we can summon Shirin here for a threesome (though Yazi will gladly sacrifice herself to save Khayal :3)

GM_Pace |

The problem with Teleport is that Rayhan can take himself and three others only per trip, so he has to memorize 3 spells just to return.... but now he can Scry on the pool anytime so that makes it easier for us to communicate/see what's going on back at our "base"
Ah, Teleport. Where the wizard/sorcerer learns about "non-stat'ted weight restrictions". Superman carrying 16 people on your shoulders while you Teleport you are not. In playing Rise of the Runelords, my sorcerer had to resort to extradimensional storage, Shrink Item spells, Belts of Giant Strength, etc. before he was a level high enough level to Teleport more than just three people at the same time.

GM Niles |

You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn't exceed your maximum load. You may also bring one additional willing Medium or smaller creature (carrying gear or objects up to its maximum load) or its equivalent per three caster levels.
It just says I can't bring along more than I can carry...or more than 3 people carrying more than they can carry.

Hi players,
The next three days for me see a road trip from central NC to Norfolk, VA, and back, followed by the Fourth of July, followed by yours truly on a boat on Kerr Lake trying to not crash into the dock (again). So I may only be posting before dawn and after dusk.
Happy Fourth of July, everyone!

Bartan Harrowborn |

I'm also in Virginia for the holiday (Virginia Beach) so I'm not going to be posting quite as often as usual through Thursday evening.

When my magus does it we have the druid wild shape to a house cat and the gnome rogue hold her so they count as one medium person and the druid's gear doesn't count.

Khayal Bin Haleen |

I thought about flying over and picking Yazi up so she could not be bullrushed into the lava. But looking at the map it looks like she would just be tossed into the wall.

Brass constructs tend to be one-minded.
Just to let everyone know, my church is having Vacation Bible School this week, and I'm one of the volunteers. It's a morning missions class, but lasts all week. So replies might be delayed a little.
But the more you guys & gals post, the more I post! :)

Let me just say as GM good use of the rules. "Hack-n-slash" usually works to kill a creature, but I think Nasir saw how her blade simply didn't do enough damage-per-turn in this case, and both Bartan and Khayal thought "outside the box" to defeat the animated brass lion. Dispel magic appears to be the spell to use against animated objects, if you can roll high enough to pause the animation, and adamantine weapons bypass that frustrating hardness that is just as good as DR.

If you're going to be stealthy, the trash chute is the way to go. Of course, the book isn't clear on how long it was, but it was clear on how smooth (DC 40) it is.
In my old Rise of the Runelords tabletop we were totally unprepared for the lofty cliff heights in the final book, and beat a hasty retreat. Several days later, armed with, among other things, a mallet of building and several rope of knots, we were much better prepared for the sheer cliffs.
Of course, with the Plane of Fire requirements, I haven't found a chain of climbing yet.

I think we were just wanting to advance :3
