Davosh hexes Orange just as Vojtek steps up and chops it Red half! Its skin and bones begin to knit at once while Edward sends an arrow that bounces ineffectually off Orange's hide! Ali's spell stops that in its tracks! And Kappi's axe just manages to land solidly in Orange!
DC 19 Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
DC 15 Refl: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11

RAGING VOJTEK!!!! |
Vojtek steps forward again, his motion has been an uninterrupted series of small steps forward punctuated by periodic ripping violence to this point.
The great axe again advances toward troll-flesh, though with the blood and gore in his nostrils, Vojtek seems to suddenly lose all control of his formerly studied advance. With an inhuman scream, Vojtek feels his heartbeat thundering in his ears. His sinewy arms suddenly give way to bestial... no, reptilian? claws.
With detached fascination, a part of the barbarian's consciousness watches this with growing alarm. He certainly hadn't planned to fly into a rage... Curious.
Furious, the advance continues, his axe rising high above his head, the Claws gripping it tightly perhaps scoring the wooden haft a bit.
Great Axe: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 13 - 2 = 28 for Damage: 1d12 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
The Claws release the weapon, thirsty in their own right. They reach for the troll, tearing at the exposed flesh mercilessly!
Right Claw: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29 for Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Left Claw: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30 for Damage: 1d4 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
The normally bestial Wartooth for which Vojtek earned his moniker seems more pronounced... somehow his jaw seems slightly elongated as it opens wide to tear still further into the troll.
Wartooth Gnash: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 for Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8.
GM thunderspirit |
Vojtek, blinded by a seething rage he did not bid, follows up Ali's flaming strike with a furious flurry, shredding the remaining ice troll into bite sized chunks, one of which he in fact bites down upon and swallows!
Out of combat!
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek gulps down the troll flesh by tossing his head back and hurling it down his gullet.
While his head is thrown back, a whitish sheen can be seen on the flesh of his exposed throat.
Suddenly, he shudders and slumps to the ground in his typical post-rage exhaustion. Claws return to normal hands, and his jaw resumes it's normal frightful yet human proportions.
When he opens his eyes after a few moments, it seems clear he is unaware anything unusual happened as he starts to gather himself and stand. He turns around to see his friends...
Davosh the Wanderer |
"Quickly! We must move. Check them for anything useless and we must move on!"
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Ali checks the trolls for anything useless, er, useful. She looks up at Edward. Ed, hozabout you use on of those healing scrolls on me?
Scroll of CMW, of which I believe we have 2
Unless you overrule that...i'll roll it
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 8) + 3 = 13
GM thunderspirit |
Each troll has a mundane greataxe and a mundane chain shirt.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh lands back on the ground, casts a spell of Guidance on Kappi, then gives him a smack like he's a horse and follows behind.
Edward W.Fell |
Nay Ali, don't waste the scrolls, Emergency use only. We can travel, and my life link will heal you.
Then as the party is making it's getaway deeper into the wood Ed stops and grabs one of the trolls cups. With a little snicker he then places it upside down on the remains. That should keep them guessing.
You should be healed before we get done searching for treasures. Edward does his normal and stands still while you all do. GM if you can give me a time component I can see how long it takes me to heal. Also will Vojtek only be resting for 1 minute because of his 1 round rage?
GM thunderspirit |
You're out of initiative, and see no immediate danger. You've got whatever reasonable amount of time you want to take.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |

Davosh lands back on the ground, casts a spell of Guidance on Kappi, then gives him a smack like he's a horse and follows behind.
The lad gives Davosh a strange look. As the Witch is obviously oblivious to Kappi's shock. The lad quickly steps behind the resting Vojtek and points at the barbarian who is sucking in deep breaths is his post rage state.
Soo uuhh... We aren't going to talk about this... Kappi mimes having huge crazy dragony claws and eating troll flesh. The Varisian lad looks at the other party members for their reactions.Davosh is no help. "Perhaps he can't see crazy things with his crazy eyes" Kappi thinks to himself.
Then the lad walks around to Vojtek. He looks a little scared. He talks to the barbarian kinda how one might talk to an upset child who may or may not fly into a tantrum. Ahh... Hey there buddy. Are you okay? Kappi takes half a step closer and kneels down to his level. Its one thing to bite your enemy, but you sort of well... Consumed part of that last ice troll. It can't possibly taste good. Another long pause as Kappi tries to see how Vojtek is responding. Or I don't know, does it?

"Nay, Kappi, do not try it. Vojtek is Ravenous. Tis best to not talk about it for now."
Indeed the Speaker-to-Ancients continues on like nothing at all happened.
Edward W.Fell |
Edward watches the exchange between Kappi and Davosh. His expression remains neutral, but after Davosh tables the discussion Ed nods in acceptance of the wise plan.
Well then consider everyone healed to max. This 2 life link's is nice so far.

The lad looks a little dubious at Davosh's advice, to simply pretend that nothing insane just happened to his buddy Vojtek.
Yet, Kappi has seen Davosh do some crazy things with his strange powers. He talked to the Ancients for Desna's sake! After a few moments hesitation the lad simply drew Desna's wings over his brow for luck, then gave Vojtek a gentle pat on the shoulder.
After that it was back to business. Kappi collected his thrown tomahawk and cleaned the already freezing troll's blood from it. He helped drag the troll's bodies into the brush as best they could. It wouldn't fool anyone looking for the trolls, but hopefully the dead would remain out of sight to a casual passerby.
Now with the party ready to move on, Kappi does a quick short scout. Sh sword in hand, he sneaks around the corner to the left and goes a short distance looking for danger (and loot!)
Stealth 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 14 + 1 = 21
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek cocks his head, scrunched his face a bit and with the side of his fist against his chest, rips an awful belch. The resulting horrible taste seems to physically harm him, so rather than chuckle he retches a bit.
He moves on deeper into the grove.
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi tries to shake off the image of Vojtek's transformation from his head and get back to business. In the clearing, he sees a pool of strange silvery water standing here. On its surface, ripples begin at its outermost edges and rush inward to a single point, where drops of water fall up toward the sky. The entire pool rains skyward while snowflakes float down between the droplets. A brisk wind rustles through the trees. Paths continue on to the north and east out of the clearing.
Standing in the midst of the strange pool is a humanoid figure with strangely colored hair, rather like the flame of a torch. It seems to take no notice of Kappi.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh grabs Vojtek by the wrist first, "Ancients exist in threads beyond the cloth of our fore-bearers. Heed your feelings, but remember you are your own man. You will feel things.... stranger things in the future."
He then lets the lad go.

The lad assumes his stealth was successful, he scoots back and reports his findings to the group.
Uhh... Davosh, there is this pool... Its crazy weird, and since you are also... uhhh. Well, I thought maybe you might know some sort of stuff about it...
Davosh the Wanderer |
"Maybe my lad. Maybe. If it's not immediately dangerous, I'm happy to take a look."
Davosh will take a look at the scene, cast detect magic (Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21) He'll make any knowledge roll as appropriate.

Unless any protests, Kappi will move the party up moved people on map, readjust as you see fit
GM thunderspirit |
Moved some people about, for reasons.
As the party moves in, the odd humanoid continues to seemingly take no notice of anything.
Davosh's detect magic is as painful as Ali's was.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh smacks himself on the head as he eyes the creatures. Knowledge (Either): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 "Pipers! Strange creatures from the fey world! Ware my friends, they likely have strange abilities that boggle the mind!"
Edward W.Fell |
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Of course it happens now and not combat
Edward was stuck rationalizing the reverse yet still functioning gravity flow of the water/ snow, when he heard Davosh say something about the Dawn Pipers.
You are correct Witch. But let me add that they are also resistant to spells and vulnerable to cold iron. Now this isn't natural, so what do we do about it, if anything?
Kappi Matarito |
Since the fey creature doesn't seem to notice them, Kappi starts to move quietly and sneak by. He sneaks in an exaggerated cartoon manner.
Stealth 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26

Vojtek too is wary of the edge of the map. All manner of creatures have been known to issue forth from there, with its endless expanse of flat whiteness punctuated only by strange hexagonal markings. The barbarian shudders in spite of himself.
Following a few paces behind his friend Kappi, Vojtek eyes the Fey creature with interest.

When Ali comes into view, the dawn piper seems to acknowledge her, and begins speaking to her in Sylvan.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh, speaking in Taldane, but understanding Sylvan perfectly says, "That's not on my list of things to do today. Or tomorrow."
GM thunderspirit |
The piper looks at Davosh a moment, then gives the witch a withering look of sheer contempt, pointedly turning back to Ali.
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi doesn't speak Fey. And he doesn't really understand Davosh's response either. Since pools of water are generally dangerous and this one in particular seems to defy the laws of physics as Kappi understands them. He is ready to move on.
He doesn't interrupt Ali if she wants to converse w/ the Fey but since he is bolstered by a heavy hitting AX wielding comrade, he sneaks up and dares to step a foot into the uncharted lands...
Vojtek Wartooth |
Vojtek gives the chatty Cathy's a "let's go" gesture with his head before following Kappi.
GM thunderspirit |
Kn (nature) check to find out...
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
yeah, that aint' happenein, unless it's a DC 10
know (nature): 1d20 ⇒ 15 <--DC 10 success!! :-)
GM thunderspirit |
10 is enough!
As Kappi attempts to make his way around the pool, his path is abruptly stopped by an invisible force, which suddenly appears as a filthy humanoid with large, pointed ears which twitch at every sound.
The humanoid says nothing, but glares intently at Kappi and does not allow him to pass.
The piper, meanwhile, cocks its head at Ali's question.
Davosh the Wanderer |
Local: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29 "Oh a spriggin. Normal sized, eh. So watch out for his magic. He can get pretty big though."
Davosh cocks his head sideways at the fey, "Why would you want to suck this would away?" He asks in Taldane.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Ali ignores the Dynamic Dou for a moment
Kappi Matarito |
a few questions before Kappi possibly starts combat. Can Kappi see any threats behind this giant spriggin thing? Second, he could use he new rogue talent: Positioning Attack, to get behind this bad guy (assuming he hits w/ a melee attack). Then he and Vojtek can tag team/flank it. Right?
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi: such movement itself wouldn't provoke with that rogue talent; however, in this specific case Kappi doesn't have open area to execute the move (the woods are a hazard and thus form a hard corner), so he'd need to go through the spriggan's square, which would preclude the use of the talent due to the rules of moving through an opponent's square.
To do it, Kappi can try an Acrobatics check vs. the spriggan's CMD+5 to move through the spriggan's space. Failing the check means he loses the move and provoke (though he could then use his Standard to try again).
The dawn piper flashes a starkly white smile at Ali and speaks.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Ali whispers in draconic to the others. sorry, I don't recall what languages everyone speaks...
I think this is a problem. I don't know what they're doing, but I don't like it!
Vojtek Wartooth |
Unexpectedly, Vojtek is violently startled at Ali's words. He has no idea what she said, but his pulse begins thudding powerfully in his ears. The back of his neck is suddenly slick with sweat. He shifts the axe haft from one hand to the other to allow him to wipe his clammy palms on his new pants.
Kappi Matarito |
Kappi isn't following the Fey and Draconic words from Ali, though he thinks she isn't looking happy.
The rogue misreads Vojtek's reaction to hearing the language of dragons. Seeing the barbarian handle his AX, the lad takes this as a sign to "bring the steel"
Perhaps over confident from his recent dragon slaying Kappi thinks he can pull off a tricky footwork manuver to get behind the spriggan. The lad step forward stabbing his foe and then tries to slip behind the spriggan as he pulls his blade w/ him.
Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
+1 sh sword 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Acrobatics 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
GM thunderspirit |
Kappi will trigger initiative, but I'll give him a surprise round. One Standard action, so either the attack (which would have sneak dice) or the Acrobatics check.
AFK most of the day, will try to get to this tonight.
