fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Ali manages to take short, quick breaths to ignore the smoke's effects, as she swings using the Ancients' Guidance...
attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16
damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 4 + (4) = 17
We've got no flanking possibility do we??
GM thunderspirit
The stove pictured on the map moved (currently chowing down on Kappi and Vojtek), so there's room on the other side if you're so inclined to move. The pile of logs is still there as pictured, tho.[/ooc]
Davosh the Wanderer
Vojtek has some family stuff today, not sure he'll be able to post.
GM thunderspirit
I'd like to 5' step toward a flanking position if someone could move my pog?
Done.
GM thunderspirit
who are we waiting on?
You guys (Ali and Davosh have already acted), with the stuff listed here.
Kappi Matarito
Kappi is fighting his panic. He knows it is not helping, but its hard not to break down into total fear ridden panic while being burned in the belly of the iron beast.
Escape artist 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 <- yeah nope
/cough /cough
Vojtek's lungs burn and he is reminded of the time Grandmother poured yak urine onto the sweat lodge's hot stones rather than the water.
She claimed it was an accident, but Grandfather had been seen leaving Willow Snowfeather's tent the evening before and Vojtek suspected the horrible fumes and smoke were Grandmother's way of reminding her husband to only go ice fishing in the hole in his own home.

we need Kappi for a retreat!

Davosh cackles and casts guidance!
Ali's blade (narrowly) misses the stove benefits from Davosh's spell, and hits!
Or does it?!? 20% miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 100 huzzah! It does!
Vojtek spends the round as a choker, a smoker, and a midnight toker!
Kappi struggles inside, but cannot get free!
Edward!
GM thunderspirit
Edward exits the room relying on his life link to keep Kappi alive and well toasted.
I didn't see exactly where Edward started. Is that more than a five-foot-step out of the room? Or a withdrawal?
GM thunderspirit
Withdrawal (single move) means no AoO then. No worries.
maintain grapple (roll 1): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
maintain grapple (roll 2): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
Kappi rethinks wanting an Easy-Bake oven as a child!
fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2
The stove continues its assault on Vojtek!
slam (roll 1): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
slam (roll 2): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
slam dmg: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
bite (roll 1): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
bite (roll 2): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Davosh's Misfortune saves Vojtek from more damage!
DC 16 Fort save this round (failure means they can do nothing but choke and cough for the round), plus a 20% miss chance for all involved is applied (except Kappi vs. the stove and the stove vs. Kappi).
[ooc]You guys are up!
Davosh the Wanderer
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Davosh's cackle sputters as he chokes.
Uh oh
RAGING VOJTEK!!!!
Fort vs. yak-urine-like smoke: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
And an attack!
Power Attack with Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 2 = 11 for 2d6 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 11 + 6 = 25 damage
Vojtek finds a yet-unpolluted pocket of air, hot and sooty though it is. He swings at the ridiculous foe, but his eyes still burn and tears spoil his aim. The barbarian's frustration is immense, and he vows to... to... ARGH! Whatever it is, it'll be BAD!
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein
Since the situation is getting desperate, Ali uses her last bit of Arcana to empower her blade (+1 Keen) and strikes!!
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 FFFAAAAAAK!!!
damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 4 + (5) = 16

Who has hero points?! I meant to post that after Vojtek.
Edward W.Fell

How do hero points work?
Can be used for one of the following:
* Add 1d4 to any d20 roll you have made (and only a roll you have made — i.e., not on another player's roll). The point may be spent any time after the roll but before the final results are known. (And this can't change a natural 1 result.)
* Gain an additional Standard action this turn (can be used as a Move, but not a Swift, if desired).
* Petition the GM for a hint about what to do next. If the GM feels that there is no information to be gained, the hero point is not spent.
* Recall a spell you have already cast or to gain another use of a special ability that is otherwise limited. This should only be used on spells and abilities possessed by your character that recharge on a daily basis.
* Reroll any one d20 roll you just made. You must take the results of the second roll, even if it is worse.
* You can petition the GM to allow spending one hero point to attempt nearly anything that would normally be almost impossible. Such uses are not guaranteed and should be considered carefully by the GM. Possibilities include casting a single spell that is one level higher than you could normally cast (or a 1st-level spell if you are not a spellcaster), making an attack that blinds a foe or bypasses its damage reduction entirely, or attempting to use Diplomacy to convince a raging dragon to give up its attack. Regardless of the desired action, the attempt is accompanied by a difficult check or penalty on the attack roll.
* Cheat Death by spending 2 hero points. Cheating death is the only way for a character to spend more than 1 hero point in a turn. The character can spend hero points in this way to prevent the death of a familiar, animal companion, eidolon, or special mount, but not another character or NPC.
Restrictions:
* No ability to Act Out of Turn (too difficult to adjudicate in PbP).
* No hero point feats , spells, or magic items.
GM thunderspirit
Reminder: hero points are detailed here.
EDIT: Thanks, Edward. :-)

Whoa... Can I cast a spell? Am I reading that right?
Yes with GM approval, and it would be a lvl 1 spell. I think you need to look at this part of the statement. " making an attack that blinds a foe or bypasses its damage reduction entirely,
GM thunderspirit
Right now, he should probably pay attention to the attack rolls that have missed (and not missed) previously. ;-)
GM thunderspirit
Vojtek's blade crashes into the side of the stove, gashing it!
Kappi takes the opportunity to escape the belly of the beast at that very instant!
Davosh tries to cackle, but his laughter dissolves into a coughing fit as he takes a lungful of the belching smoke!
Ali (whom I am giving an opportunity to spend a hero point) and Edward!
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein
I didnt think I had any hero points available. IN case I'm wrong, I'll damend well spend one!!
Hero Point Reroll!!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 <--Crit Threat!!
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (1) = 7 (1 of this is acid, whoopie--but it will take 1 point ongoing acid damage. No fort save since it can't be sickened...)
Hero Point Reroll Crit Confirm!!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Round Next
I am unsure of how this will work, but if I spend a hero point to bypass the stoves DR, will it bypass it's hardness? If so then I will spend one, if not than disreguard the attack, and I will just continue to heal Kappi and cast guidance on I guess the only one I can reach is Davosh.
Now that Kappi has escaped, Edward will try to shoot the object with his bow. A stove that will eat humans has to be evil. Stove I abhor your evil existence, and will send you back to the foundry piece by piece so you can be made into something good. I smite thee
Longbow+Smite Evil: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 5 = 33
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Ignore hardness hopefully
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 5 = 23
Crit damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 7) + 8 = 16
Edit: 20 % Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 68
For last 2 rounds: Kappi heal 10, Edward take 10, heal 1. HP 39/52
GM thunderspirit
Yeah, I can let the attack bypass hardness instead of DR.
Edward's arrow lands in a critical...make that VERY critical... spot, and the entire stove collapses into a pile of scrapped metal and cooling embers!
Out of combat!
Once free and able to look, Kappi notices the engraved plate that pronounces the once-animated stove to be "The Gobbler" and notes a curious dragon emblem etched on its door.

please stop me...
Kappi Matarito
No longer facing immediate death, the Varasian lad looks quite comical. His skin is covered with black soot and his bright white eyes are blinking as his tears are running from choking on the smoke. Kappi does his best to get up and thank everyone for saving his life but he collaspes in a pathetic burst of coughing.
The lad unties his head scarf and uses it for a moment to dry his eyes and badly smear the ash on his face. Then he reties the scarf nice and tight, by the time he is done he seems to have put this whole "near death experience" behind him. The rogue looks around the room for any missed treasure or secrets.
Davosh the Wanderer
Daovsh looks his party over, and tries to clean some soot off of Kappi. When he gets some on his fingers, the warlock rubs it on his face like war paint, "I thought you were gone my boy. You're too young to be an ancient. I'm glad you're out."
He looks at the party, "I think we've done all we can this day. I have little magic left, and I'm tired. Let us finish this floor and be gone. I'd like to keep that pot. Methinks I could someday brew you all some good grog in it."
He calls Liska to him before turning his attention to Votjtek. With a slight nod the witch gives the Northman a gentle Eye CMW: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1) + 5 = 7

Watching Kappi make a mess of himself (and Davosh not particularly helping), Ali can't stand it anymore. As he goes to retie his scarf, she chuffs out a breath. Oh, let ME do it!! she then takes the edge of the scarf already moistened with the rogue's tears (no, she does NOT spit on it too) and does a better job cleaning his face with it with one hand, while firmly holding his chin with the other. When she's done, she nods firmly and hands the scarf back. THERE.
Davosh the Wanderer
...Davosh then applies war paint to Ali.
GM thunderspirit
Once Kappi and Vojtek are back on their feet, the party checks out the last door on this level. Crates and barrels fill this storeroom, and a rack hangs on the eastern wall dangling with kitchen equipment and utensils, above a shelf covered in small glass containers. Shallow laundry basins stained a rusty brown inside sit in the southeast corner. A faint, sickly-sweet odor hangs in the air.
Hanging from one of numerous hooks driven into the ceiling overhead is the torso of a hapless victim, limbs removed and exsanguinated here to be fed to the trolls below.
Worth mentioning: there are two levels of the clock tower left, constituting two encounters of whatever type; and you've got a diversion being manufactured for you so that the Tower is less guarded.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein
are we under the impression that this distraction could bleed over into tomorrow, it being a military action and all? I mean, it would NOT hlep us to try to fight a dragon at less than full strength--and we're significantly less than full strength--but it would also not help to try to rest, then get dry-gulched overnight
GM thunderspirit
1d20 ⇒ 15
Edward (in particular, due to the bonding he did with Solveig) and Vojtek (by virtue of his experience near the Crown of the World) are both aware that the military action is largely a feint, and will not sustain through tomorrow without the remnants of the Iron Guard suffering considerable losses — which they will be unwilling to do.
Solveig will not be upset at a withdrawal, since the party is her best hope of freeing Whitethrone of Logrivich, but the defenses will likely be replaced at the Clock Tower if that's the choice made.
Point of order: everyone is level 5, yes? Vojtek's header doesn't show that, so I'm double-checking.
Davosh the Wanderer
Given that, I'm okay checking my consumables, healing up, and pushing on. It'd be a losing proposition to have to do this again. It's Davosh the Wanderer, not Sisyphus the boulder Pusher
GM thunderspirit
LOL!
Worth mentioning: you can probably do one last shop via the Heralds of Summer's Return, if desired (you've another child to return there, after all). You know your end foe to be a dragon, with all the dragon-like challenges that implies.
Vojtek Wartooth
Vojtek is level 5 too, I forgot to level cause I think there was a hurricane or something. I'll level ASAP. Hopefully today or tomorrow.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein
I've got some spells, but Arcane Pool is at 0 so no more magic weapon boost, like flaming bow or anything. I could go either way, but hate the thought of bugging out and losing that advantage.

I can heal everyone up without using spells or consumables, it will just take time. But as far as lay on hands, and channels I'm pretty much out. If we take the child back, will we be able to buy fly potions and / or give me time for prayers to regain abilities only takes a hour.
