Sure, if you want. Probably spent a minute between last encounter and this one.
Vojtek Wartooth |
RETCON:
Vojtek takes a knee in the frigid mud, spent. He shucks a few oysters with his Wartooth, slurping the delicacies down, pausing to deftly spit any pearls into his waiting hand.
He grabs his axe, wipes it and his chin, and follows.

After the battle with the fey, Ali recovers and re-sheathes her wand, then stows her bow to draw her sword--wanting to take advantage of the strength her short-duration spell gives her. She's injured, and goes to Edward for healing
HA! didn't forget this time...
Hearing Kappi and Davosh call out new foes, she shoots out her wand of Shield, uses it, and moves forward to engage. She dances lightly over the tripwire...
TS, how do you want to handle that? With Kappi's warning, Ali would probably take a 5' jump over the area he's indicating. Acrobatics?

Davosh the Wanderer |
Davosh tweaks a bit after the electricity. (HP 39/50) he steps back and give the Gremlin the Stink Eye. Will save to reduce duration, targeting AC.
He then takes out a vial of alchemist's fire.
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Ali: Acrobatics is fine...on your turn. :-P
SORRY, sorry...I don't know why I thought we had the jump on these guys. I'll do everything the same EXCEPT where I stop...so no acrobatics needed.
Cast shield, drop wand, move up to closest gremlin, drawing sword on the way.

Vojtek sprints into the choke point with his axe at the ready.
After passing Davosh's smoking, twerking, muttering-to-the-ancients form, he quickly gestures a sign of warding that Grandmother was wont to perform in situations of excessive strangeness. The acrid smell of ozone in the wake of the magical lightning was hanging in the air.
Vojtek takes up a position shoulder to shoulder with Kappi and grins at the strange little gremlin with violent intent. He holds the axe out over its head with one hand and squints one eye as though he were going to chop wood.
The axe head describes a full circle from the small of his back and over his head. Vojtek arches his back, grabs the haft with his other hand and swings the great axe down onto its head like a lumberjack!

Davosh the Wanderer |
Staying put, Davosh continues to try to hex the gremlin misfortune hex, DC 18. Thought about amplifying the hex, but not worth it I think
Ali'yanah D'ohr'hein |
Ali doesn't like the odds of any of them trying to cross the tripwire under duress, so she takes matters into Her Own Hands.
She swings her sword down to cut the wire, then immediately steps back, trying to get out of the way of the falling tree before it gains any momentum.
I hope to Zeus this works without killing any good guys...

Round 2?
After seeing his arrow bounce off the gremlin's hide, Edward forgoes his bow, and charges into the Frey.
The Oradin sacrificing grace for speed trips over a root, but being from the north he uses his breastplate to skid on the packed snow. At the last moment he spins around uses another root to plant his feet on which stands him up and plunge his cold iron longsword into the gremlin's small frame.

Vojtek sprints forward and nimbly surmounts both the fallen log and Ali's wheezing form. She seems ok, Vojtek thinks maybe the wind was knocked out of her. But his estimation of her has ratcheted up yet again. Her quick thinking by allowing that log to fall on her rather than one of the men better able to fight was really helpful. That it might have indeed fooled the gremlins into thinking she was helpless was a gambit that could have paid off too.
With his magical steel axe aloft, he closes with the vile little creature, intent of its destruction!

Ali swings and misses, and Vojtek is distracted by Ali's miss long enough for the creature to bolt, but Kappi's cold iron tomahawk cuts it down before it can get away!
Out of combat!
The wagon near Kappi holds a half-dozen human corpses; each of the bodies appears to have bite and claw marks.

The Varisian lad collects his cold iron tomahawk. He goes and looks at the gremlin whom the barbarian bifurcated. It is an excellent opportunity to look at the anatomy of the creature. One never knows when he will face gremlins again (or something similar) and he always needs to know the best spot for a quick dagger thrust or a keen slice of his magic sword.
He also takes a moment to study the tripwire and deadfall trap. Keeping in mind there are endless ways to set traps and the more experience he has the better he will be at not only disabling traps but spotting them in the first place.
Shaking off morbid thoughts of failing in his trapspotter duties, the rogue heads over to help Vojtek. Kappi is more interested in searching for clues about who these people were. What are the similarities, are they all from a certain class in the city? Yet, his Varisian upbringing certainly instilled in him the notion that "you can't take it with you when you go to dream and travel with Desna".
Kappi has no problems with taking from the dead. If he could return it to a family member he honestly would. But he isn't going to loose any sleep if he can't and it stays in his pouch.
Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Knowledge Local 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Kappi tells Odric he doesn't think they can bury all these people. You are from the North, you understand...
The lad is a bit strange is some ways, even as he is searching through corspes one part of his mind is methodically looking for clues (and loot). But the other is kind of sad, thinking about all these people who will never go home to their families. He softly starts singing in Varisian. It sounds like a dirge.
Those who speak the tongue hear the words. Its not any sort of actual religious song. But the words talk about traveling onward to the Great Road, being greeted by Family who had gone on before. A few of the lines reference the Dreamer, Desna.
Davosh knows it as a sad song for a rainy night around the Varisian camp, and can be sang after a funeral.
Vojtek Wartooth |
The usually taciturn Vojtek picks up the lines of the melody and in a surprisingly competent tenor, begins an accompanying part in the language of the elders from the tundra at the edge of the ice.
what is the condition of the cart? Are there signs of pack animals around? Would it be possible to easily drag the cart to a nearby settlement? Are the corpses frozen? Is it cold out?
Vojtek turns to face the forest and scans for additional threats while the others go about the business of healing, looting, and preparing to set off again.
When he hears Kappi request healing, Vojtek winches and adjusts his pants a bit to see how bad the aching bruise on his hip and upper thigh are. The ugly lividity of a massive bruise causes his to suck air in through his teeth almost involuntarily. The wound could be worse, but as is he fears he may have to favor his opposite side in a fight. The wound will stiffen with the passage of a night, and Vojtek is concerned it might slow him down in the morning.
He gestures to Edward as well, and asks for some healing if he is able.
GM thunderspirit |
The corpses themselves do not look to be clad in Irriseni attire. suggesting they are not natives; two are adults and four are children of various ages. The bodies are preserved in the frigid air of Whitethrone.
Kappi nearly misses it, but with Vojtek's help he spies a small coffer wrapped in a tattered scrap of fur at the bottom of a larger wooden chest filled with clothing. Upon further examination, the coffer has an internal lock.
Davosh the Wanderer |
"Be careful Kappi. But we ought to try and open it." Davosh eyes it for magic.
GM thunderspirit |
Davosh does not detect any magic radiating from the coffer.
GM thunderspirit |
I'm fine with that; you guys offed the run-away-and-warn-the-neighborhood baddie, sao you've got time.
Kappi Matarito |
The lad politely thanks the Oradin for healing. He pauses for just a moment to think about how aweful some of these adventures would go if they didn't have Edward's abundant healing powers on their team.
Examining the coffer further after Davosh deems if non-magic, the rogue carefully checks it for traps. Just to be safe he has the rest of the party step back even futher. His oiled tool roll spread out next to him the lad works on it. They hear him muttering something Hmm, my uncle always said a #7 is a good pick to start with if you aren't sure... He works another minute and curses quietly enough that he thinks Ali can't hear him. Densa's own tight box, this is tough to get into...

Looking like a whipped dog, Kappi turns and can barely make eye contact with his friends. His eyes go back to his own feet Uhmm... I'm sorry... I uh, just am having some trouble finessing this one.
After another moments pause he continues. Vojtek can probably smash it open, if we aren't worried about breaking anything inside. If its just coin then that should be fine. Or if we are worried about breaking something I can try again later...
With that, the lad holds the coffer up to his hear and shakes it gently trying to see if he can tell what is inside. Like does he think he hears the gently clinking of potion bottles?
