Backstory:

He's a mercenary with a reputation for being highly professional and not killing anyone he doesn't have to. During the occupation of Kessel, Winter and a band of mercenaries were hired to take and hold one of the central spice refineries. Although they suffered serious losses (90% of their total force), they managed to hold the facility until relieved by Imperial Forces, led by the corrupt Imperial captain who had hired the band that Winter worked for. Winter managed to escape during the ensuing assault, but the rest of the mercenaries were not so lucky. After making his way off planet and licking his wounds, Winter has begun hunting the officer and the men responsible for the treachery.

Working on the backstory, I'll address the crunch later (though I guess being first level it can't be that hard). I was wondering, though, if you guys know any talent or feat that allows hiding being a Force user, you know, to not have the inquisition biting your ass. I'm not as familiar as some of you are with all the books.

As for plans, I wasn't planning on being a Force Wizard (which I've heard it's totally broken here), but rather a melee guy (or generalist if Forms and other powers are not allowed). Just that Jedi are not that open to be jacks of all trade from the very beginning.

Dampen Presence, I believe is from the Force Unleashed, might one one to look at, Jereru.

Arana Nix:

You'll need to update your Point Buy to the one specified in character creation. Once you've done that, hopefully it will clear up some of the math errors I'm noticing (Your Flat-footed Reflex defense is somehow higher than your regular Reflex defense, for instance).

Due to Brentaal's location in the Core Worlds, how did Arana and her master successfully hide from the Empire? Brentaal sits at the intersection of both the Perelemian Trade Route and the Hydian Way, two of the main galactic trade routes. This is a system that sees a lot of traffic. Here's the Wookiepedia article. See if it gives you any ideas.

With Dawn of Defiance starting only 1 year after the end of the Clone Wars, the Jensaarai themselves have only been around for a short while. I like the concept, but if you haven't read much of the Jensaarai beyond what's in the Core Rulebook, a read up may not be a bad thing.

Jek:

Your description of Jek made me think he had a higher Charisma than he actually does - a bit more swashbuckly, for lack of a better word. You also look to be 5 points short on your point buy, so you could maybe bump that up a bit. Under languages, given your lack of contact with Wookies, may I suggest swapping Shyriiwook for Sy Bisti? Sy Bisti is an Outer Rim trade language that has made its way into the Unknown Regions, and might be a good one for you to know.

Backstory looks pretty good. Way to flesh it out.

Vrog Skyreaver:

Point Buy looks good. All your math is adding up correctly.

What was the name of the Imperial Officer who hired and betrayed you? Was he a Captain or an Admiral (I ask because you have "Fleet Admiral" listed next to Destruction and Captain in your backstory)? How did the Officer betray you? Would he have put a bounty on your head? How did you escape Kessel? Why are you looking for him on Sel Zonn Station specifically, and not somewhere else?

Thx Quen, will have a look at it.

It's available else where, but some of those sites are a bit dicey.

Let me know if you have issues grabbing the file.

Thanks for putting this in a Google drive but I am not able to use it. It opens but that is about it.

@GM thanks for noticing the points. I’ll bump that up to 16, then.

I considered that, since it was used in Outbound Flight. I’ll go ahead and replace it, though I might take Shyriiwook later on, if given the opportunity, since Wookiees in the EU have deep connections to hyperspace navigation.

Okay, here is the submission list so far. Bolded submissions are considered Complete.

Vrog Skyreaver - Winter Allesh, Human Soldier
Jason Rodarte - Quen Pah, Human Jedi
Jaster Kite - Tirual’Sij’Ekil “Jek”, Chiss Scoundrel
Dodekatheon - Istian Thul, Human Scoundrel
DM Ragnarok - Joris Valden, Mirialan Jedi
Joynt Jezebel - Sluissi tech (Not Quite a Jedi)
Havocprince - Iron Knight
HeftyUpTop - Medical Droid
GM SuperTumbler - Force-Sensitive of some kind
Jereru - Jedi
F. Castor - Callum Vorn, Human Scout (failed Jedi)
Stiehle - Sebbik, Duros Scoundrel (Let me know if this changes)
Storyteller Shadow - Gotal of Umbara, Umbaran Jedi
Spazmodeus - Arana Nix, Female Jedi (Jensaarai)

That's 9 Jedi/Force Sensitives of some variety, 3 non Force-Sensitive scoundrels, 1 soldier, and a medical droid.

Jek:

Okay, so apparently I failed at math earlier. Your Point Buy was only 3 points off, not 5. Drop Charisma to 15, and it's good. Sorry about that.

Sebbik:

Either way could work, or a different concept. I think the big thing is that a lot of people are gravitating towards Scoundrel, and a lot of them are thinking the same way - good pilot, blaster, techie - and not really looking into other possibilities with the class. Take a look at the breakdown and see if you can find a way to make the character stand out in his role.

@GM no problem at all, done :)

Might be a version issue. I"ll reupload it later

Rats, I don't have any of the books for this game only the SWTOR MMO ... LOL.

PM me. I can upload to Dropbox

GM:

What was the name of the Imperial Officer who hired and betrayed you?

I was leaving it open to allow an existing imperial officer from the aP to fill the space. That way he can tie into the story more fluidly.

Was he a Captain or an Admiral (I ask because you have "Fleet Admiral" listed next to Destruction and Captain in your backstory)?

That's a fair question. I was imagining that it was carried out by an imperial captain, but at the behest of a fleet admiral, to cover things up.

How did the Officer betray you?

He waited with his men until we had repelled the people attempting to retake the spice refinery and then came in shooting to wipe us out.

Would he have put a bounty on your head?

No, because they were trying to sweep the whole thing under the rug; although that will likely change after the campaign begins, depending on how things go.

How did you escape Kessel?

I managed to get out of the refinery during the firefight, and made a beeline for the spaceport, where I paid a smuggler to get me off world.

Why are you looking for him on Sel Zonn Station specifically, and not somewhere else?

The last person from the imperial force from that day I "interrogated" told me that the captain was on Sel Zonn station.

This is what I have for now.

Christon Rynx:

During the Clone Wars, many Jedi customs were waived off. Pacifists had to become Generals, meditation arts had to become drilling. Diplomacy became strategy and, of course, padawans became Jedi, sometimes way too young.

That was not Christon's case - his Master, Orwen, was sensible and cautious enough. Christon was, though, forced into some tasks he wouldn’t have had to do alone if it wasn’t for the war. Jedi were too few, and they had to spread thin, so he had to represent his Master in absentia in many places. Orwen comforted himself (and the young Christon) with the idea that all of these would make his padawan grow stronger. It was, actually, one of these tasks what would keep Christon alive when Order 66 was executed.

During the war, the Galactic Republic found that everyday a different planet revolted and seceded, joining the seps. Coruscant and the Core Worlds were desperate for allies. The Jedi, being a Consular institution for millenia, were sent on diplomatic missions, searching support in planets which, up to the time, hadn’t been part of the Republic. These planets were offered membership and special features in exchange for military help or supplies. The Jedi Council thought to expand the Republic to new places now that the old places seemed reluctant. Christon was sent to accompany a delegation to Avarion, a planet inhabited by a warlike and somewhat Force-sensitive reptiloid species, in the hopes of gaining a powerful ally against the CIS. Another fellow padawan, the togruta girl called Jukkurpa, was as well with the expedition, and Christon was to forge a close friendship with her in the time they spent together in Avarion, nearly a whole year.

Christon was already suspecting something had gone wrong when he felt the terrible impact in the Force caused by the effects of the Order 66. He and Jukkurpa felt the thousands of voices of the Jedi screaming in pain, and were almost sure their Masters were dead, but still they had to venture back into Republican space to know what had happened. When they found out, they immediately went into hiding. Jukkurpa was good at that, and at first it was easy because the inquisition was looking for Jedi fleeing the Core Worlds and not sneaking into them. It became tougher, though, the more they ventured into the center of the Galaxy. Rewards were set, interrogations made. There were bounty hunters specialised in catching sensitive kids. One day, Christon woke up in the motel they were staying and found Jukkurpa gone, no sign of her. The Force, bribes, questions, nothing would work - she had just disappeared. Christon was on his own.

In the relationship between Christon and Jukkurpa, he was usually the bold-move, adrenaline-carried last resort believer, while she was the careful planner tactician and thinker. Without her, without his Master and without anyone else, he felt wasted, like a weapon left in the rack. He was an action guy, but lacked a direction. He had to be very careful not to show any sign of being a Jedi, and felt weak and useless. Plus, the Empire had eyes everywhere, and a huge military machine that turned any idea of fighting it into pure children fantasy. But he had to do something…
So he thought he would wait. He’d hoard as much knowledge he could, starting with the teachings he had himself received from Master Orwen, and keep them as a precious treasure until it was time again for the Jedi Order. He would actively look for knowledge, artifacts or hidden members, to keep them away from the Sith. But he was not an archaeologist, nor was he a diplomat or a scholar. He needed some contacts, some people he could rely on to help him with the tasks he was not good at. Ah, if Jukkurpa would have been here…

So, with that idea in mind, he came to Sel Zonn Station, a place where it is said you can find whatever and whoever you need, if you’re willing to pay the price…

Let me know what you think about it, if you feel like. I'll do the crunch during the weekend and put it all together into an alias.

This is a half finished character, posted in case anyone wants to look at it.

I was thinking of playing a Sluissi Soldier Tech but decided to go with a diplomancer, where there is not one been submitted yet, or I don't think so.

I've put it back for anyone else to use.

GM:

I'll give your questions some thought...

It loaded for me.

As well as me and dotting interest with a normal Jedi since the other plan wouldn't work. Or, I may be a Battle Droid?

I think that should do him. Do I need more info on his background?

Anyone interested in seeing my thoughts on a potential starship?

So I'm still mulling over some concept, probably moving away from a Force Sensitive since we have so many already. Could I play a Yaka? I think I can build one with the Near Human rules from Unknown Regions. The main issue would be that as a culture they all have cybernetics implanted, which is by itself easy (There's actually a near-human trait just for that). But do I have to buy the cybernetic implant at character creation? because that would take about 2/3rds of my starting wealth. Doable, but would change what other equipment I'm looking at, so I want to ask.

GM Phntm888:
I'll go ahead and stick with my concept as-is, even with the competition. He leans more toward computer slicer rather than a mechanical techie, and has a stronger piloting skill than the others. Also, he left home to search for his parents right around a year ago, so I think the timing does work out about right.
If Sebbik is passed up for a spot, please consider him to step in later if a player drops out of the game. I'll keep my eye on this recruitment thread to see your decision, and if a spot comes open later, feel free to PM me. Thanks, and I hope to game with you sooner or later! :)

Since there is not much to go on for the droid body given to shards, are you fine with 2 hands, vocabulator, and basic sensors as a given and then anything else bought? Also, going back I forgot the Jedi had labeled the Iron Knights as abominations, so order 66 really didn't effect them aside from killing off their home planet. Probably going to build him as an advanced scout trying to figure out what is going on in the universe and trying to hide from both the empire and the jedi at the same time. Stick him in a protocal droid body and go wise old force wizard droid.

Dodekatheon wrote:

I eould.

How does his build look?

My family and I saw Star Wars today and I think it is the best so far! I was only wrong in one thing but it was skirted none-the-less. I will say no more just in case some have not seen it yet.

I haven’t, so please don’t say more.

I will review characters tomorrow - this weekend has proved far busier than initially anticipated.

@Dodekatheon - Don’t worry about a ship. It won’t come up for a bit.

Please no spoilers. I an seeing it tomorrow.

Hello, this is Jereru's application. Still need to add the Power Suit, but fluff and crunch is mostly done.

I know skill-wise he's not the most versatile, but due to his story it made no sense to start as a different class. He will multiclass and get some extra skills in the future (at 2nd, probably).

Christon/ Jereru- I don't know what you mean about a power suit.

But if it is any sort of armour, which is what a power suit would normally mean, then your character won't be able to use it if he is a Jedi. And I am not sure you can get a good power suit with your starting cash.

If you do want to use armour, maybe you want to start as a soldier.

You may be asking who this know it all is telling you how to create your character? Well, in contrast to pathfinder, I do know most everything about SW Saga Ed rules. And if you would like some help with achieving what you want with your character I would be happy to assist.

Dark Archive

Dotting for interest, I'm thinking maybe a former clone trooper but that would kinda depend on what you had in mind for the set stats?

Pretty sure Christon/jereru meant power suite and just typo’d.

Christon, ICYMI, you’re entitled to one more language mate

Yeah, Power Suite, lol. Languages, right, forgot about it. Thank you guys!

I change my mind, I am going for Jedi as well regardless if it reduces my chances to play or not.

I didn't think of that. :( Just offering to help.

Okay, let's review submissions and answer questions.

Vrog Skyreaver:

Great. Thank you for answering the questions. If you get in, I'll give you the name of a suitable captain/admiral. Do you mind not knowing which admiral it was that gave the command?

Feel free to add the answers to the question into your backstory.

Galatea Rayven:

I'm not sure how you have 31 HP. Starting HP for a Noble is 18, plus Con modifier of +2 is 20 HP total. It also looks like you forgot to add your heroic level to your defenses, so they should all be 1 higher. Your Point Buy looks good.

I thought Nemoidians only got Skill Focus (Deception) as a Conditional Bonus feat. They also get the ability to reroll Deception checks, taking the second result even if worse. I'll admit that at the moment I'm using an online source that may not be accurate, and I can check my book again later, but if you could double check as well, I'd appreciate it.

Backstory: While I don't have an issue with her being Nute Gunray's daughter, I do have an issue with Nute Gunray being any kind of Force Ghost. Nothing about him indicates any affinity for the Force, so I don't see how he could have come back to provide any sort of guidance. I don't see how Galatea would have learned how to use the Force otherwise, or how the Jedi Order wouldn't have snatched up a Force Sensitive child from a rather prominent world like Cato Nemoidia. She's not exactly in the Outer Rim. I think you need a little more work to bring the backstory up to snuff.

@Anderlorn: You may be a Battle Droid, but you'll have to explain why you weren't shut down with the rest of them, as well as why the Empire hasn't blasted you on sight - remember, the Clone Wars only ended a year ago.

Quen Pah:

It looks like your Point Buy isn't correct - I only count 18 points. Remember, you get to choose 5 stats that start at 10, and one that starts at 8, and then spend the 28 points. I've also House-ruled that Humans get an additional +2 to one stat of their choice. It also looks like you didn't choose your feats for level 1, which you will also need to do. I don't see what Destiny you chose for him, either. If you would like me to assign one, just let me know.

The backstory seems okay, but doesn't really have anything that stands out. What planet were Quen and his Master on when Order 66 struck? Did Quen become friends with Ren Corrian, or are they merely acquaintances? Where is Ren now? How did Quen Pah come to Sel Zonn Station, and what brought him there?

GM Phntm888's First Post wrote:

Tips to getting selected: Your backstory will be more important than the actual mechanics of your character. I also prefer well-rounded characters to those who do one thing super well at level 1. You’ll have plenty of time to specialize in your preferred option, but try to make sure you can bring more than one trick to the table at the start.

You might want to use some of those points for the Point Buy to make your character a bit more well-rounded. Remember, the Jedi are outlawed. Blatant force use is going to attract attention - most of it unwanted.

@Ouachitonian: I am okay with you submitting a Yaka. I'd say the "Cultural Cybernetics" trait replaces your Bonus feat, and we'll replace the house-ruled +2 to any one stat for humans to a +2 Intelligence bonus. The rules don't say you need to buy the cybernetic enhancement, so you don't have to, but don't choose the most expensive, top of the line one.

@Havocprince: Yes, that sounds fine for the basic starting outlay. They also start with Walking locomotion, since the picture shows them with legs.

Christon Rynx/Jereru:

Point Buy looks good. I don't see a Destiny listed anywhere. If you don't want to choose one, that's fine, I can pick one for you if you get in. Force Power Suite and languages, obviously, still need to be chosen, but you know that.

Backstory looks good overall. Not having been around clones when Order 66 was issued does tend to help keep you from being executed by them.

@Vehement 1: The Clone stat array is Str 16, Dex 16, Con 15, Int 14, Wis 12, Cha 10. You get to assign the human +2 to any one stat.

That is the way I would prefer it. As far as Winter knows, it doesn't go above a corrupt captain.

Perfect, I do believe they left the locomotion off of shard's to avoid balance issues. Pearl will be fully ensconced within his droid body, a TO series protocol droid, and he goes by the name 17-9TO or Lost.

Background:
Pearl is not exceptionally old for a Shard, Having only having seen a brief 300 years. Pearl has been tasked with finding out what is going on in the universe and possibly inconveniencing the Empire in any way he can. The Shard homeworld having just recently been mined to death.

Pearl showed an aptitude for hiding his presence in the force, very useful for convincing others that he is merely a protocol droid, and there by being invisible to most sentients. Pearl harbors a severe dislike of the Empire, for the countless Shard deaths that are laid squarely at the Empires feet.

After convincing (read influenced with the force) a trader to purchase him some months ago, Pearl had used the traders movements to learn about the current galactic situation and finally ended up on the station where he used yet more force persuasion to convince his master to set him free. Now he searches for his next angle to continue his movements and finally bring some justice for the oppressed species under the Empire's booted heel.

Reply to GMs questions:

When I posted the character I wrote:-

"This is a half finished character, posted in case anyone wants to look at it."

Which explains why it is such a mess. It was only ever a draft and took longer to get back to than intended.

GM Phntm888"I'm not sure how you have 31 HP. Starting HP for a Noble is 18, plus Con modifier of +2 is 20 HP total. It also looks like you forgot to add your heroic level to your defenses, so they should all be 1 higher. Your Point Buy looks good."

You are right about both the HPs and defences.
.

Rather surprisingly I am right about this one.
I think the online resource is this:-

"Neimodian Species Traits Edit
Ability Modifiers: +2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, -2 Strength.

Medium Size: As Medium creatures, Neimodians have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.

Speed: Neimodians have a base speed of 6 squares.

Conditional Bonus Feat: Neimodians with Deception as a trained skill gain Skill Focus (Deception) as a bonus feat.

Skills: A Neimoidian may reroll a Deception check but must keep the second result.

Automatic Languages: Basic, Neimodian and Pak Pak."

That is another entry, somewhere, where Niemoidians are listed as a species but not as a playable race I think. Can't say where. This also happens with Bith. The entry in Intrigue is where it is listed under playable races. I also used the stat adjustment listed in Intrigue, which is -2str +2 cha, not as good, and didn't get the re-roll on deception."

GM Phntm888"Backstory: While I don't have an issue with her being Nute Gunray's daughter, I do have an issue with Nute Gunray being any kind of Force Ghost. Nothing about him indicates any affinity for the Force, so I don't see how he could have come back to provide any sort of guidance.

Nute isn't a force ghost. The story as told is what Galatea thinks and is incorrect. Galatea spontaneously manifested force awareness and has Use the Force. She just thinks it is her dad's ghost, wrongly. And she does not see an image as with the Ghosts of Anarkin and Obi-Wan at the end of episode 6.

If you don't like it, or having Use the Force trained w/o actual training, I can revise. Having her start training as a Padawan might be better.

Galatea:

I completely forgot about the "half-finished" part when I looked over it - my apologies.

The online resource (and the other entry you are thinking of) are both from the "Other Species" Section of the Core Rulebook in the Allies and Opponents chapter, p. 286. I believe you on the Nemoidian stats from Galaxy of Intrigue, and otherwise see things as good.

For the backstory...I'll admit to waffling. Knowing that it's not actually Nute Gunray as a Force Ghost does make it a bit better.

How would you feel about swapping Force Pilot for Force Perception? Nute doesn't strike me as much of a pilot, but he strikes me as someone who would be ever watchful of plots against him - it would make more sense her thinking he's pointing out potential threats to her well-being than helping her pilot a spaceship.

Lost Pearl:

Your Point Buy appears to be 4 points short - you get 28, not 24. May I suggest shoring up your Strength and/or Dexterity? Eventually, you're going to get shot at, and even stormtroopers have a decent chance to hit you.

Weapon Specialization (lightsabers) is a talent in Saga, not a feat, although I suspect you intended to type "Proficiency" there. You also appear to have too many feats - at Level 1, as a Shard, you only have a single feat - you appear to have chosen both Weapon Focus (lightsabers) and Force Training. Please pick one (I suspect it's Force Training, based on your concept, but I'd like to make sure).

Speaking of Force Training, you have 6 total powers listed, but Force Training is only 1+Wis modifier, for a total of 5. Vital Transfer is listed twice, so I'm not sure if the second is a typo or if you intended to have two uses, but you'll need to drop one Force power from your suite.

The Iron Knights came into being less than 50 years ago. Is Pearl a new recruit to the Iron Knights, or was he one of those who learned from Master Aqinos? Was he one of those who went into hiding on Dweem, or did he manage to escape Orax directly?

Destiny, Languages and Power Suite all done. I think I can say Christon is complete.

Also, I hope you don't mind I made up some planets/races. Feel free to ask if you want to know more about them or any other thing, like NPCs or whatever.

Jereru:

Minor inconsistency, you have snap baton listed under equipment but stun baton under attacks. Not concerned with which one it is, but you might want to fix it.

The problem with repeated rewrites is you actually have to erase the leftovers.

Answers:
Pearl escaped the destruction of his home planet as he was newly installed into a droid body and aboard a starship when the invasion of Orax began. He and a few other survivors first fled to another colony, finding that destroyed a lone trainee of Master Aqinos reached out with the force and found where their brethren had fled. They made the journey to Dweem and their Pearl trained to harness his natural force talents.

Lost Pearl:

Excellent. Looks much better. Did you spend your starting credits?

Fixed. Thx.

Yep, under systems. Translator Dc 10 and 4 Kg of compartment space.

Working on stats now. I was thinking the education or discovery destiny would be fine.

I think I got his abilities right
Str 12
Dex 14
Con 14
Int 13
Wis 16
Cha 16 (+2 from human)

His other 1st level feat was another force training

Let's see he and his Master were at Sembla, the vurk planet,

He is at the Station because of rumors that his former Master was seen in the area. He looks at the Doc kinda as a father figure.
