1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ok everyone, here by critical acclaim, the RotRL Anniversary Edition recruitment thread! I will leave this recruitment thread open for a full week, then I will select 4-5 characters and we shall begin. I look forward to seeing some amazing submissions! And just as a note, I am perfectly fine with both new and veteran players and posters, so do not worry about me biasing towards one or the other. I accept submissions based one how much I enjoy them. On a related matter, do not feel constrained into a certain 'role' if submissions skew towards a certain one, because not every role must be filled (It makes things slightly easier, but magic items and such can fix a deficit!).

-Max HP per HD, because I hate when PCs get consistent low rolls and TPK because the Dwarven Barbarian is less durable than the Elven Wizard.

-Any race/class/prestige class, so long as it can be justified. Only one person can be any given class, so no 3 wizards, as cool as it may sound (Acadamae Arcane is in Korvosa! :P).

-3PP and 3.X material can be used, subject to my approval.

-Max starting GP.

-25 point buy, because APs are design for those with a potential for greatness, not Joe/Jane Average.

-Characters may belong to a Faction, but must understand that interaction will be limited.

-2 Traits

-PCs may take a Drawback to gain an extra Trait.

-Each PC gains a free Story Feat from Ultimate Campaign. Some of these will have their fulfillment criteria finished much sooner than others, but good things for those who wait!

-Must provide a backstory, physical character description, ect.

-Must explain why you are in Sandpoint. Having most material on the area, I can provide you with ideas. PM me if you want some help with this!

-Ideas for future character-specific side quests are welcome.

-Must provide me with a Virtue (Charity, Temperance, Generousity, Love, Humility, Zeal, or Kindness,) and a Sin (Envy, Lust, Wrath, Greed, Pride, Gluttony, or Sloth,) for your character. These will double your accumulation of certain points when you perform a specific action. I expect these keyed towards your character's personality. An accumulation of sin points will grant your character new power, but also exponentially increasing drawbacks. An accumulation of virtue points grants smaller bonuses, but also does not incur any sort of drawback. There are ways to eliminate sin points, but they require more than a simple atonement spell to correct. For those of you who are familiar with this AP, you can understand why an accumulation of sin points can be a very bad thing once it reaches a certain point.

-Must be willing to roleplay effectively, as opposed to minimally.

-Must be willing to work with other PCs. Some IC interparty conflict is fine, but it must NOT spill over to OOC or otherwise interfere with the game in a substantial way.

-Must consider the notion of continuing the campaign beyond it's conclusion with Mythic gameplay! If you don't want to continue afterwards, we can simply say you retired, but I would like you to detail what your character would be up to at that point.

-Must post at least once a day, barring unforeseeable events. I will not worry if you miss a day or so, but if you miss 3 days or more, I will contact you via PM. If you miss 2 consecutive days in a combat situation, I would like to know if you are amenable to a temporary GMPC'ing of your character's actions. I will not consider dropping you though, unless you miss several consecutive weeks without a word, because I definitely understand that life can throw curveballs at people.

-If you are looking to do extended roleplaying with NPCs that would hold the game up, let me know and I will arrange for a session where we can work on the RP within say, an hour or so of continuous posting.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to voice them!

Copied post for ease of reading.

I would like to play with either my rogue or my wizard for the ROTRL game, because I like the way I built them and how they will progress. I might be getting one of those in a Jade Regent game by Wednesday, so fingers crossed. If not, Garox in one game and Tal in the other if you let me ;).

Garox clearly has Lust for beautiful women. He just can't help himself if he spots a pretty girl, he must try to woo her. His virtue would probably be Temperance, he holds back in combat doing non-lethal damage most of the time. Most people when caught will properly surrender instead of being killed. Maybe I can combine the love/lust part but I don't know how that would work out. Sidequests could be finding out who his parents were or rescuing/pursuing that one pretty lady.

As for Tal, his virtue is Kindness while his sin would be Pride. Also from his background, he is kindhearted at nature, but does like to tease and joke around. He is also prideful, and will not often back down if he is dared into something that could be done, but might have negative consequences. Sidequests would be with the Duke finding out where he is hiding and maybe send some assassins.

I would have to update their stats and maybe add in a trait. But both characters are pretty much ready with a small adjustment to backstory.

Merick the Blue, for your consideration. Monster-hunter and savior of those in need!

The Exchange

Dotting. Have concept, will travel.
Thinking alchemist (human or elf) with zeal and pride, being somewhat self-centered and easily obsessing over his work.

Sczarni

Tryggve is ready. As for reasons for being there:

Tryggve usually makes a bi-annual trip to Belkzen to honor the ruins of Rickburn and run out anyone settling in the grave of his home. After his recent trip, he traveled to Varisia, where he heard of an upcominig festival in Sandpoint. With the opportunity of new employment and a town buzzing with festivities and good company, Tryggve maked his way to the seaside town, hoping to lighten his somber mood.

His Sin would be Wrath, as he has very little mercy and rarely holds back in combat, even when his enemies beg to him. Kindness is his Virtue; though he is battle hardened and merciless at times, he is not an outright brute and shows compassion for others.

Jes for consideration. I will update her crunch tonight.

Silver Crusade

Very interested and working out a character now. Sin will be Wrath and Virtue will probably be Humility. Going to be a Human or Half-Elf. He's NG but follows Szuriel as interpreting her as a form of inverted Buddhism, a la complete and peaceful Oblivion. He won't be a Divine Caster so mechanics wise that shouldn't really be much of a problem.

As for classes would you be willing to allow stuff from UMCA?

Here's Talorinfor your consideration. Cereal stuff will be up soon!

Still have a few things to fix up, but his sheet is in the alias page, ready for you to check.

Silver Crusade

Are the ACG classes allowed?

Sure, I'll put something together.

I'd really like to give the witch class a try... I'll have something up soon!

Rysky, that link is awesome! I haven't read through all of the classes yet, to check their balance, but if you let me know which one you are interested in, I can check it out and let you know! :)

Hrothdane, ACG classes are allowed, with the understanding that once the official versions are released, the class will be altered to fit the official version. Sound good?

Silver Crusade

Yay! I was thinking Caitiff Knight.

There is a bunch of awesome stuff on that site, glad you like it :3

Silver Crusade

Sounds good.

Sin: Pride
Virtue: Temperance

Will you give us ideas about what kinds of actions are related to each virtue and vice?

I was equally impressed with Rysky's link. I would be very, very interested in playing a Silent Hunter with a background tied in with Shalelu, as either an understudy or informant of some sort. Going the DW route. Possibly wielding wakizashis for flavor.

How does that sound GM? Shall I proceed?

Rysky, it certainly doesn't look broken to me, so it is allowed!

Sixteenbitcon, it's definitely balanced, considering the sneak attack is conditional on favored foes (If it weren't conditional, it would be a slight bit OP,). Consider it approved for use.

Adjinakou, here's a list of examples. Obviously, some forms of these can be done in a much worse fashion, which would lead to higher sin point accumulation.
Lust- Pursue meaningless sex in any form.
Love- Go out of your way to do something thoughtful for someone you care about.
Envy- Complaining of other's good fortune or ruining others to deprive them of what they have.
Charity- Donate time or money to help others in a meaningful way.
Gluttony- Eat or drink (Alcoholic or non-alcoholic,) in huge excess.
Temperance- Abstain from eating or drinking in excess of what you need for survival.
Greed- Steal, loan shark a poor family, or otherwise do something underhanded or coldhearted for the sake of material gain.
Generousity- Perform services or give gifts (Necessary or otherwise,) to others (Charity is more about giving strategic help, generousity is about giving just because you can. It's a fine line between the two!).
Pride- Brag loudly and often, ridicule others as beneath you, ect.
Humility- Underplay your own accomplishments, refuse reward for services, give most of credit for group achievements to others, ect.
Sloth- Resting more than makes sense, allowing others to suffer because you see no point in helping, ect.
Zeal- Plunge headlong into whatever task is at hand, with exuberance.
Wrath- Torture a foe, kill unnecessarily, start fights with people for no reason, hurl vitriolic insults when unprovoked, ect.
Kindness- Accept an enemies surrender, heal others, help someone in need (This part is strikingly similar to Charity and Generousity, but can be something as simple as a kind word,).

Does that make sense?

Crunchy bits are done! Do you mind if I submit a bit of my RP style? As for the image, just imagine her without the hat and you've pretty much got Talori.

Rysky here, and Yay! Thankies :3

That looks good for the sins/virtues.

Now to start putting this puppy together, and a first name.

Feel free to submit your RP style!

You're welcome, Rysky!

Grith Newark reporting in!
Background in profile.

Pride - Grith tends to put himself before others because that's the first law of survival; he doesn't see it as a fault, but simply as a logical position.

Zeal - Grith is enthusiastic about his interests and often disappears for days to obsess over studying, experimenting, working, playing, or whatever it is he is passionate about at the time.

Thank you! That's very helpful. I've alway been curious about the envy v charity divide. Wouldn't the opposite of envy be encouraging the talents and capacities of others?

Interested. Would like to use this character with some changes to fit. Probably go with Pride and Zeal.
Changes made.

Ah man, how much of a sin is it to have intercourse with beautiful women?
What can we expect when we get a lot of sin? ^^

And by this description I would set Garox to Lust and Kindness/Love depending on the NPC's/players in the game.

Adjinakou, that would be donating time to help someone in a meaningful way, so yes. :) And you're welcome.

Interesting, Zephir... never seen many people use a Wind Oracle before! I've used one and the weather-based spells and abilities are quite useful. :)

Garox, not my fault that's what happens to be listed lol! And what do you mean by depending on PCs/NPCs? Do you mean like romantic interests? I can drum some up if that is what you mean. I'm not like some GMs and flee at the mention of it lol.

As for what you can expect when you rack up sin points, you get abilities, but with drawbacks as well. If any of you are familiar with Ravenloft, it is similar to that. There are other effects which are straight disadvantages. If you want to know the specifics, read the spoiler below.

SIN DISADVANTAGE! ONLY READ IF YOU DO NOT MIND SPOILERS!:
As you may guess, sin magic is utilized some by certain foes. A higher sin point total in a particular sin makes you more vulnerable to some of these spells and some effects.

Based upon my background and personality I have changed my sin to Gluttony.

re-post for Fulito, Halfling bard.... back story done just need to flesh him all out crunch wise

Virtue: Zeal
Sin: Gluttony

backstory:

Where to begin? Life has always been an adventure for me, even from the start. After twelve hours of labor my mamma shot me out like a professional skiprock. After some extensive bungee action, I am told; I finally came to hang with a cord wrapped around my neck. Well things could only get wilder from there…

My ma and pa, Cillia and Kulobi, raised me on what they knew. During the day, I’d help dad run the little Jolly Halfling Inn in Artume. I’d watch and sometimes help dad haggle prices with merchants and tell tales of his great adventuring days. He was the most famous man I’ve ever met up that point in my life and not everybody has ever seen a great dragon, except of course Ole Carl, which was how he became Sheriff after all! Anyway I digress this is about me after all and who wants to hear about old man Carl anyway.

Artume is a small domain amid hills and fertile plains within the River Kingdoms. Artume lies on a western branch of the Sellen River, not far from the cities of Daggermark, Gralton, and Sevenarches. The region boasts high quality livestock, especially horses, as well as leather goods and stone. The kingdom welcomes adventurers, who Regent Waike frequently uses to deal with bandits and nagas.

Anyhows; after working with Pa, I’d come home and make a big batch 0’ food with ma. She was always hosting elaborate parties, so I specialize in hors d’oeuvres.

While I love getting good prices on candies and I can’t get enough of my “Pattonded Homemade Out-Of-This-World Moon Waffles,” However, neither baking nor haggling was the life for me. At least not at that time; Ahh Youth, when your young and in love, and as pa would say, “stupid”.

So when I turned 16 I began looking for a way out and as fate would have it on my birthday bash, a group of adventuring types came to the Inn. Clumsy big folk they were; and my first real experience with them. I soon realized that they were dumber than a young hobbit in love. They had in their midst a lovely hobbit girl named Lily. She was the reason they were in here. She told me tales of great things they were planning on doing like free some human nation from the hands of evil or some such nonsense. I told her there was no evil here. But she insisted there was a bigger world than Artume.

Now with a lust for adventure in my heart and raging hormones are my loins, I pleaded with the human folk to take me with them. Of course Ma and Pa disagreed but Pa saw the look in my eye (and the bulge in me breeches) and said it was time to sow my oats. Don’t really know what he meant, I had no intention of farming but I thanked him anyway. So equipped with a frying pan (a gift from ma), a towel (father said “always bring a towel”) and the clothes on my back I left the next morn in the company of two humans and a fat tall hobbit with a big beard, He said he was a dwarf but I say he’s a “hobbit in denial.” I wanted to survive on my own, bring home my own bread, reel in my own fish, and tame my own wild badger… (Note: no farming dad!)

Lily and I became friends on the course of our travels, here is a picture of us (I drew it myself, well sort of):

See pa no farming yet!

Well now back to the story:

We journeyed for several days seeing wondrous sights like trees, and bushes, and trees, and shrubberies, and trees, ohh look a squirrel, and did I mention Trees, and Hobgoblins, and trees, and what! Hobgoblins Ahhh!

Well we fought them Hobgoblins and killed them all, but one, and the humans decided to question him about some great evil that need to be stopped, like the Hobby (that’s what I called them) had a clue about what they were talking about, maybe he was a farmer. Well we learned from the Hobgoblin that “gruu grack!” (Or something like that) meant I ain’t talking! So he ended up dying instead. I got my first kill and it wasn’t fun at all I will never do that again! At least not that way it was very… ahhhh… un-heroic!

Several days later after seeing more trees we found out that Hobbys like to travel in really big groups. And the hardy human adventurers fought them bravely. I protected that rock like my life depended on it (and I think it did) Lily had a rock to, but she kept throwing it at the Hobbies I told her come over here my rock is bigger! Boy did that come out wrong.

Anyway, she did, and oh boy was I proud of that skill! I love that rock.
We hid while the humans and that hobbit in denial got slaughtered. Really felt bad about it but if I was to keep them in my memories and tell the tales of their great deeds (and about my rock) I would have to stay alive. Never met a dead hobbit that told me an edge of your seat tale.

The Hobbys never found us and we slipped away, left to our own devices in the wilds of a non-shire place.

We made our way to a place called Thronestep somewhere in a place called Razmiran. Well after 16 years with 5 full meals a day, independence sure made my stomach growl. Far from home and only Lily with me I shifted to crime in a moment of weakness. Well, the guy looked like an easy mark, but I guess I’m not quite the pickpocket I thought I was. His ear twitched as I approached, and he promptly spun around and bonked me on the head with some sort of guitar.

When I came to, my vision was blurred and I though I saw Lily kneeling beside me so I reached for her and boy was that guy mad and he gave me gift I won’t soon forget, a second bump on the noggin!

When I came to again, my vision was still blurred (I got to stop getting bumped on the noggin). The sun hurt my eyes so I just shut them again. But then I heard the most enlightening music. It was soft and low, with a strange buzz to it. The slow tempo was depressing, but it touched my heart and seemed to liven up my spirits.

Opening my eyes, I saw the man responsible for the bump and the source of the tune, He was sitting on a barrel, he was elegantly dressed in performers motley, and he sat there legs crossed creating a beautiful sound from what I later learned to be called a harmonica. And behind him I could smell home style cooking and there was Lily making me my favorite meal, “Pattonded Homemade Out-Of-This-World Moon Waffles” at least the best she could, considering it was my recipe. Isn’t she wonderful, I need a shower, (now I understand the bit about the towel)?

I also noticed the ground had turned to wood and was rocking and I heard the sounds of the ocean, just like when Ma and Pa took me to the ocean to swim. Hey I am on a boat! Wonder where I was going?
The man noticed I had awakened and discontinued his melody. “Hungry little fella?” he asked politely. “Eat now, and tomorrow you can begin to work off your little crime” shame fell over me, and a little embarrassment.

I’ll tell ya, they make new definitions for words every day. Who would think that by work, he meant learn to play an instrument. I spent the next couple of days taking harmonica lessons from Fflewddur Fflam the Music Man, and at the same time we got to know each other and I got to know Lily even better (wink) (Guess what Pa! I am a farmer!!). Anyway he explained his story and I told him mine especially about the big rock and the trees. [I might be going crazy, but whenever he got to describing some epic battle he fought in, I could swear his harp strings would break].

Eventually we arrived in a city called Tamran in Nirmathas. I learned a lot on that ship, the ship was a merchant ship and the crew, with the way they talked reminded me a lot of home with pa and the merchants. I managed to trade a bit with them and they told me all about something called merchant’s run; A secret trade route which is heavily protected that connects Lake Encarthan and Conqueror’s Bay.

We spent almost 6 months with Fflewddur travelling the Merchant’s Run learning all sorts of new things along the way, and Lily and I became very close we were married not long after my farming incident (shame ma and pa missed out, but at least they didn’t know about big rock). But alas we had to part ways with Fflewddur. He said I could never discover who I was until I made it for myself. As a parting gift he offered me his harmonica, on which he engraved the warning:

“It is the mark of an immature man to die nobly for a cause, and it is the mark of a mature man to live humbly for one.”

Lily and I settled down in a little gnome community called Whistledown and we opened a small Inn, aptly named the Jolly Halfling Inn (Western Style).

The new Inn wasn’t open for very long when we were asked to perform at some girl’s 40th birthday bash. Never being one to turn down a chance to play the harmonica and I readily accepted.

But that is when it all happened. Townsfolk go missing, strange happenings at night. It was on the night of the birthday bash that everyone was ordered inside by the mayor and the town militia was to take up guard posts to put an end to the strange happenings.

Their blood curdling screams woke the town in the dead of night, and after the sun came up only the bravest of the townsfolk ventured out to investigate—(I stayed in the Inn with Lily) -- they found only scattered weapons, dented helmets, and pools of congealed blood.

The next day, a group of Pathfinders came to town. Mayor Bagalom managed to persuade the adventurers to take care of the problem for the town. Many of us were excited to have people of such prominence in town even though they were from so place called Sothis or some such place and I think they were looking for some dead prostitute. I know, weird huh?

Well, this group brought back fond memories of our time with Fflewddur and our journeys along the Merchant’s Run. Anyway the group spent some time at our little Inn and I could tell that the birthday girl we were supposed to perform for had a thing for the Halfling in their group. Well its none of my business what they do, but I did make sure he had plenty of clean towels. Maybe he was a farmer to?

Well, the adventurers succeeded in stopping whatever it was that plagued Whistledown. And there was a great festival in their honor. (Though the fact that they were carting around a 400-year-old corpse of an Osirian concubine was a tad unsettling for most of us). And I served everyone a heaping of my “Pattonded Homemade Out-Of-This-World Moon Waffles,”

Well the adventurers left and that gnome girl left with them, I confided in that Halfling fellow that liked her about Merchant’s Run and they were off on another adventure.

I moped around the Inn for the next several days yearning for adventure just like before. But then it happened. A message arrived. It was from someone named Ms Cherry Blossom (What?!? Do gods think I should be a farmer too?) Anyway after some grumbling about the name, Lily said it was her mother coming to visit.

“Oh Great, Company, this will be so much fun!” But lily just looked at me weird.

“You don’t understand, she doesn’t know about you and expects me to marry Bernard” Lily seemed rather upset over this but I told her that Ma wanted me to marry Ingred but she had buck teeth and almost no hair on her feet. No respectable halfling boy would marry such a girl, and luckily Pa agreed.

Well Lilly decided that I needed to go away for a spell while she visited so Lily could straighten things out. And that very same day (Like there wasn’t enough coincidence in my life) I found a flyer talking about a Swallow your tail festival in a place near a sandy point, or was that the town of Sandpoint. Oh well who cares it was an adventure, and a means to be away from “Ms. Cherry Blossom”.

So I told Lily all about it and she was thrilled for me and helped me pack. So off I went heading to the swallow and have a tail festival and headed east out of town.

Lily called to me after no more than 3 minutes of leaving. “Isn’t she sweet she missed me already”?

“The town is West”. (Lily always was good with directions like that. Never could understand that whole North – South thing. But anyway once pointed in the right direction I headed to a point in the sand to swallow my tail at a festival!!

Talori churned up dust as she trudged along the unpaved road to Sandpoint. Damn! Talori thought angrily. How could've I been so stupid that night. I was on a roll! I suppose I was relying on my iron liver... can't take gambling out of my mind, I guess, even when it comes to drinking. The young girl smiled dryly.

The heat was miserable. The sun, in all of it's glorious pride, had decided to showcase it's amazing power. This may be sacrilegious, but... Talori gave the sky the finger. ... the Dawnflower totally deserved that. For some reason, it seemed even hotter than before.

A couple of miserable hours later, Talori reached Sandpoint. It was a quiet hamlet, completely disconnected from the outside world except by a dirt road. Children were playing, adults were farming, and it was completely peaceful. Seeing a blind bum holding out his hands for change, Talori instinctively reached for her coin pouch... and then realized it was empty. Shaking her head, Talori headed for the seediest establishment she could find, hoping to “earn” some money to spread around town.

Alright, Talori is going to play Towers (Golarion style poker) to earn some money for the miscellaneous hobos and bums around town. Anybody else want to play with her?

Here is some flavour for Buzzgob, the Goblin Psion Telepath :)
Sin: Pride. Mideas (the voice in his head) is very prideful. He knows hes better than these third rate adventurers (And im not even going to mention Buzzgob. The pathetic thing dosent have 2 brain cells to rub together.
What are bane sells? If you rub them together, they make fire?
)
Virtue. Zeal. Zeal as only a goblin can :)

Fluff:

Buzzgob Gianteater
In the GobGob tribe, every goblin gets a special name on their 5th birthday (approximately, whos counting?) from the tribes Cleric. This is a very special and sacred day and can shape the rest of their lives so it is very importiant to get a good one.
Buzzgob was named alongside Dies Horribly and Idontgiveaf+$~leavemealone. We think she was having a really bad day that day. Anyway, i was named Gianteater because one day i would kill and eat giants. Great! A good name, thats all a goblin could hope for, except i was scrawny as anything. It was hard to live up to such a big name and he was tormented by it again and again. Its a boar! Call Gianteater! Its a horse, Gianteater will kill it! Lets help him out *ties up Gianteater and throws him under the horse* Its a slug! Call Gianteater, we found his giant!
Eventually he came to hate that name. Actually he came to hate the one who gave him that name. So one night he snuck into the Soothsayers hut and taking the biggest hammer he could find, he brought it crashing down on that idiot Clerics head. Gianteater that!
Turns out the Chief doesnt like it when you off his Cleric...
So Gianteater was chased out of the village with nothing to his name except the big hammer still blood soaked. Alone in a massive world.
Next he came across a small horse and carrage which he singlehandedly ransacked. Well, he hit the horse in the leg with his hammer, buckling it. Then the horse crashed into the cliff face beside the road and exploded... All his doing, right? >.>
When he went to loot the carrage he got quite the surprise! Inside was an Elan Psion, a powerful creature of pure psionic energy. And it was mortally wounded. In its death throes it tried one desperate attempt to prolong its life, to thrust its mind into the only other living creature, Buzzgob, attempting to take it over. However, it failed as the elan expired too soon to comple the mind swap and only a fragment of its conciousness made it across. Enough anyways to have a voice, but unable to completely take over.
What? Not quite en..gh pow..r... Cant dom..ate... Need.. Res..t.. Goi..g d..rmant.
Great. Now not only am i stuck with a stupid name, im tribeless AND i got a stupid voice in my head trying to steal my words! And. and. and....
And with that Buzzgob passed out on the side of the road.

When he awoke, he was upside down in a steel cage...
What is i doing here? Where here is?
To his astonishment he got a reply! It was the same annoying voice from before!
Hello. You appear to be awake. Good. It seems that my forcefull takeover was only met with partial success. But dont worry yourself too much about it. There is nothing you can do about it.
Whaat?
Sigh. Such limited inteligence. I try to steal your words.
WHAAT???
But i failed. So now i give you words. I will let you steal the words from others heads. You see that man over there? He intends to sell you.
Ooooh! Neato! Thats good?
NO! Thats not neato, err good, err. Thats bad. I need you to survive long enough for me to get out of this acursed body. So heres what we are going to do.
I am cozy?
Sigh...

Working on crunch!

Good work so far everyone! *Throws a GM cookie*

With this many Pride/Zeal, I may change my sin.

*Walks quietly into the room*

"My apologies for disturbing you, my friend Covent had informed me that I should come to this place and present myself."

*Bows his eyes still up and watching, and waits*

Hello Brood Brother :)

I will be submitting this character that was specifically made for RoTRL

Broodsibling! :D

Hello Mr. Trey!

Making a special gunslinger character that has been specifically designed for this campaign.

Even if I don't use her here, I won't be able to let her go. GM Lord of Runes, I blame you for getting me really thinking on this and causing me to fall in love with a character design :P

I've been to blame for inspiring many awesome character designs, so guilty as charged! :P

"This might be a pain," Tryggve thought, noticing the dark skinned, bald guardsman eyeing him suspiciously (Belor). His eyes made contact with the Belkzinite for only a moment, before the white haired young man looked away in disinterest. He often got strange looks for his intimidating size and appearance, but usually the would cause the local authorities to become nervous and avoid him. Then there were those few who targeted him as trouble the moment they laid eyes on him.

"Well, whatever happens, happens." Tryggve didn't look forward to local harassment, but it was always a risk when in his line of work. Besides, as long as he kept out of unnecessary fights, he wouldn't have to worry much.

Looking for possible places to kill some time, he came across a less-than-reputable inn. "Might as well try this place out first," he thought, before walking inside. After all, a great way to gauge a town was by its seediest gathering places; they always had someone interesting in it.

I'll take a crack at Towers for the hell of it! I know this is probably getting ahead of ourselves, but I couldn't help it. Also, my style of writing usually involves a lot more description, but I'm cutting it down for the sake of the thread.

Ha so aparently Jes was already built to meet your guidlines :)

As such the only thing left is my sin & virtue. Those would be Pride & Zeal. She definitely dives into her work and follows it to the very end, but she thinks she knows more then most people and shows it off when she has the chance.

Jessalissa Maynet, I'm not sure about stat-wise, because I have not yet started looking at stats. That part comes later! :)

Whew, that took a bit. ^^ Without further ado...

At heart, Harahel considers herself to be a scholar, though she has a somewhat narrow and specialized field of interest. At the moment, she's embarked on a quest to learn as much as she can about various forms of magic, personally taking trips to visit various sites of the world and accumulate everything she can - this is the reason she's in Sandpoint, and currently looking to pass on through. The studies are more than just idle curiosity for her, because she looks at the world in a very different way and has the ability to tap into truly primordial powers - in fact, other than cantrips, it's rare she'll cast a spell normally.

The key issue is her heritage and the influence it's had on her. As the descendant of certain divine beings, Harahel's ancestry features prominently in her life, and not always for the best. On her mother's side? Calistria, best known for her generally lustful ways. Her father's side? Irori, lord of self-perfection and balance. The end result in Harahel's life is a lustful desire that tends to get smacked down by reason and temperance, and the fact that she really is a charming sort of person isn't helping matters much, though at least she managed to be born a human thanks to her father's intervention. Also, neither deity is especially close or goes out of their way to favor her, mostly leaving Harahel to her own devices. She doesn't know why this is the case, but it's probably better than the alternative.

In contrast to what many people expect, though, Harahel is not a particularly "good" person. That is, she doesn't do very many things just because they're the right thing to do; instead, her motives tend to be driven a little more by self-interest, mainly because she has a hard time forming true relationships with other people. That said, she is like most relatively neutral people in that she prefers good to evil - she just sees general goodness as something that other people should be doing, though she will help out if there's something in it for her, and she's shown the occasional bit of generosity in working for more than a reward is really worth. However, this isn't a dominant attribute of her personality... though loyalty is, because people who've become her true friends and companions can always count on her remaining loyal to them unless they deliberately do something to destroy the relationship. She will go fairly far out of her way to help such people, even for little or no reward, which is rather good for the rest of the party...

Intended Role: Party Face and Support. She's built to be generally good in social areas, with assistance through her abilities. She will naturally get some powers for self-defense over time (like everyone else), but my plan is to make her more of an aid to other characters and support their actions, so her offense is on the lower end.

Special Abilities
Charming: You gain a +1 trait bonus when you use Bluff or Diplomacy on a creature that is (or could be) sexually attracted to you, and a +1 trait bonus to the Save DC of any spell you cast on any such creature or creatures.
Improved Initiative: +4 to Initiative Checks
Primordial Magic (Sp): You can invoke primitive, primal magic effects using the raw, unfiltered magic of the cosmos. You may use any of the effects listed below, fueling each with a spell slot or prepared spell of 1st level or higher. Using this ascendancy is a full-round action.
---Barrier: You create a force effect which is a translucent barrier of energy. The barrier may be up to one 10-foot-square per caster level, and has 20 hp and 1 hardness per spell slot expended. The barrier has a duration of concentration, +1 round for every 3 levels of the spell slot used to create it. The barrier has a maximum range from you of 25 feet +5 feet/2 caster levels. The barrier may form any simple shape (line, arc, circle), but not complex shapes. You may not create a new barrier while a previous barrier exists (you may dismiss a barrier as a standard action).
---Blast: You create a blast of raw energy. This is a ranged touch attack with medium range (100 ft. +10 ft./level). If the target has spell resistance, you must make a caster level check to overcome it. The blast deals 1d4 points of damage per spell slot expended, +1/2 point of damage per caster level. This damage is magic force damage – energy resistances and DR do not apply against it.
---Compel: You force one creature within 10 feet per spell slot expended to do your bidding. The creature receives a Will save (DC = 10 +1/2 caster level + highest ability score) to negate this effect. The creature obeys any orders you give, though if a command violates its alignment or puts it in obvious risk it receives an additional save with a +4 bonus. The effect lasts for 1 round, +1 round for every 3 levels of the spell slot used to fuel this power.
---Portend: You rip raw knowledge from the fabric of the universe. You gain information about a creature, object, or mystery as if you had made a Knowledge check with a total equal to your caster level + (level of spell slot used to fuel this power x4). For example, an 18th level eldritch godling using a 6th level spell slot to fuel this power to gain information about a dragon learns as much as he would from a Knowledge (arcane) skill check with a total of 42 (18 + [6x4]).
---Heal: With a touch you heal one target of 1d8 hit points per level of spell slot used to fuel this spell.
---Translocate: You (and up to one creature touching you per 2 levels of the spell slot used to fuel this power) teleport to a location that is well known to you, or that you can see. The maximum distance you can teleport is dependent on the level of spell slot used to create this effect.
Spell Slot Level - Maximum Teleport Distance
1st - 1 foot per caster level, 2nd - 5 feet per caster level, 3rd - 10 feet per caster level, 4th - 100 feet, +10 feet/caster level, 5th - 100 feet, +25 feet/caster level, 6th - 400 feet, +25 feet/caster level, 7th - 1000 feet/caster level, 8th - 1 mile/caster level, 9th - 10 miles/caster level
Scholar of the Ancients:+1 trait bonus on Knowledge (Arcana/History), and begin play knowing Thassilonian
Shamed: A past humiliation haunts you to this day. Prerequisite: You must have been publicly embarrassed, or must have the Bastard Born background. If the embarrassment didn't cause significant harm to your personal honor or social standing, it does not qualify for the feat prerequisites. The humiliation doesn't need to have been unjustified. Benefit: Being observed drives you to excel. When you're in a conflict that is being observed by others not involved in the conflict, you gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls and skill checks. Goal: You can complete this goal in one of two fashions. First, thwart a chosen foe in a fashion that clearly establishes your superiority to the general public. Second, prove your worth another way, like gaining a title or becoming the chosen hero of a region. Completion Benefit: Your newfound confidence gives you temporary hit points equal to your character level. These temporary hit points last until lost and refresh any time you rest long enough for natural healing to occur, whether or not any healing actually occurs.
Simple Weapon Proficiency: Proficient with all simple weapons.
Swift Casting (Ex): You can rush many of the lengthier elements of casting a spell. You may cast spells with a casting time of 1 full round as a standard action, and spells with a casting time of greater than 1 full round in half the normal casting time.
Toughness: +3 HP, +1 HP for every hit dice beyond 3

Sweat dripping liberally from raven hair he strode down the street, puffs of dust kicked up at each step. His face flushed from the exertion, he wondered again, as he did every hot day, if trading in his chain mail for leather might be a smarter choice. Granted, that chain had stopped it's share of ill-intentioned blows, but how ignoble would it be to drop dead, killed by, of all things, the sun.

His face reddened further, and he bowed his head, whispering a quick apology to Sarenrae. His persistence paid off as he stepped through the door of the nearby tavern, the relatively cool air a welcome relief. He strode purposefully to the bar, giving those that met his gaze a nod and brief smile. Today would be the day. Today would start a new chapter in his life.

As he got to the counter, he eyed the cistern full of water, then the person working the bar. Back and forth his eyes went, water, face, water, face, his tongue unconsciously licking his lips. The bartender smirked, having watched this struggle many times and knowing the inevitable conclusion. Merick locked his eyes on the bastard, hating him. Hating himself more.

"Ale, please. Stout. Actually, strongest you've got."

The proprietor nodded, that smirk remaining as a mug of frothy liquid was thrust in front of Merick. Tomorrow. Tomorrow was just as good for a new beginning as today.

Actually... I think I'm going to bow out of this one.

Lots of good character concepts here! I'll have to keep an eye on this.

All things considered, I MAY up the recruitment to 6 PCs, given the quality of the characters submitted thus far!

Talori saw two figures, big, burly fighters too big for their britches, no doubt. She smiled secretly. "Hey, boys, you willing to play a game of Towers with me?" Talori drawled.

If they turn around, they see a beautiful young lady with a small smirk on her face. She has cropped purple hair and golden eyes, and she stands fairly tall. Judging by the chain shirt peeking out from under her clothes and the sword and shield on her back, she's probably the adventuring type. She wears a blue jacket and trousers, with white gloves and boots. She also has a flamboyant hat.

I present Jingo Jango. Gnome Samsaran Sorcerer who specializes in Illusion magic. He is very prideful and frequently uses his illusions to make himself look better, e.g. better looking clothes/jewelry, taller, stronger, etc. However he can seem to be better than anyone else. He is very loyal, however. He won't unnecessarily cause pain or anguish to people with whom he works. He realizes that adventurers need other adventurers and that those relationships are based on trust. He also experiments with other casters' schools of magic and has been able to reproduce a few spells. (Eldritch Researcher story feat).

Jingo Jango, I just noticed something, you're a Gnome Samsaran? How does that work? I'm rather curious: did you build it with the Race Builder to represent what would happen if a non-Human became a Samsaran? If so, what was your RP buy for it? I'm fine with the concept, I just need to know that so I can straight tell you, without hesitation, 'yes, Gnome Samsarans are fine'. Sound good?

Okay, this is Kyle. Finally finished Satinder with the exception of one thing, and that's a question for you GM. In regards to the story feat, if we choose on that has a specific target, for instance the True Love feat or Lost Legacy feat, is the target going to be an option for us to decide or is that going to be an option for you to decide? With that being my only question, here is his backstory!

Satinder was born to a human mother as her third child. His birth however wasn’t the blessing omen most aasimars would receive. Isilda Coric was a lower noblewoman in Magnimar who was in an arranged marriage that proved unfruitful. Unknown that it was her husband who couldn’t conceive, he turned against her in a violent way. Isilda eventually fell into the arms of an elven man, Talathel Mertan. This affair wound up with carrying his child. When the child was born, her husband was furious and sent her to Nybor. Talathel followed her to Nybor, and they both named the boy Kyras. 4 years later, they had a girl who was named Liadla. As time passed, both Isilda and Talathel began to make plans for them to leave Nybor. However, once they had decided to act on their plans, they discovered she was pregnant once again. 10 years after Liadla, Satinder was born.

Upon Satinder’s birth, Talathel made his own assumption that the child wasn’t his. He figured that because she had done it once before, Isilda had an affair against him and he left, leaving her and their children behind. In truth though, the child was his. Satinder was to be born a half elf, however Isilda’s very distant and dormant celestial bloodline destined Satinder for other plans. He was born appearing human, but after Talathel left, a local cleric of Shelyn identified him as an aasimar. Kyras stepped up in place of his father abandoning them, but there was only so much he could do. In his first few years, Satinder was treated kindly. As he continued to grow up, more and more people began see him for the celestial being he was. Isilda soon fell for the cleric who helped her get through his birth and they had two girls of their own, the first 3 years after Satinder and the other one year later. He was now the middle child.

As Kyras was now 18 after the births of Mari and Saleen, and decided to take up arms against the rising goblin raids in the area. Liadla, being 14, decided the nonviolent path and became in tune with nature. As time went by, Satinder began to idolize his half elven siblings. When he was old enough, Kyras began to teach Satinder ways of the sword, while Liadla taught him the ways of the earth. He began to grow even closer with his older siblings keeping ties to part of his elven heritage, while staying close to his younger sisters to keep close with his human heritage. Satinder continued to grow up, learning under Kyras and Liadla while trying his best to be normal. He made friends and developed a relationship that taught him about love. When he was 15, Satinder earned his first goblin kill saving his younger sister giving Kyras the notion that he was ready to join on him on his hunts. Since then, Satinder has been accompanying Kyras on hunts against goblin raiders in the area. Recently however, now that he has turned 18, Isilda gave him her blessing to leave if he wished. Reluctant to leave his family behind, Satinder left so that he could try and bring good to areas where the evil that plagued it so that people could be reminded that evil doesn’t always have to win. His first stop: Sandpoint in an attempt to bring a halt to the goblin raids.

Satinder, you will get to work with me on the details. Unless it's something outlandish, like you're going to steal the Starstone or you're in a sexual relationship with the Empyreal Lord of Virginity, I will likely give you free reign in helping decide. You could be a Prophet of Razmir, for example (Want to know how, just ask lol!) or the long-lost son/daughter of a Magnamarian noble who just now is shaking off enough amnesia to return and rejoin your family. I'm generally lenient with character backgrounds, so long as they make sense and, given how well I know Golarion's lore, could probably justify a LOT of character backgrounds if so inclined!

EVERYONE WITH STORY FEATS, WHICH SHOULD BE EVERYONE EXCEPT THOSE WHO OPT FOR THE OTHER OPTION, READ MY COMMENT TO SATINDER! IT'S IMPORTANT!
