"The name is Talathel, but you may cal me Tal. There will be time for proper introductions later over some tea and biscuits. But first..." Tal scribbles something on a note and walks over to a corner where he ties the note around the tail of a small scorpion lurking there. The scorpion in turn walks back towards the bar.

"My familiar will send a message to my friends inside to create some chaos to cover our getaway and provide a story as to why those men just went down. Here wear my cape and just let me disguise you with a spell."

Tal casts a spell changing the color of some of Talori clothes and puts a sort of tattoo on her face.

"There we go, I added a slave tattoo to your face, so people will you in general. Follow me, I know these alleys well and will take us out of the city until things cool down and we can get some more permanent disguises." With that Tal turns into a corner and walks on at a brisk pace, not waiting for her to respond. They are pressed enough for time as it is.

Sczarni

Wow, things moved fast since yesterday. And that list of people....good lord that's ridiculous. Good luck to everyone, hope we can get into the game!

Enjoying his time in the bar and the small surge of chaos brought forth, Tryggve decided to lean against the counter and enjoy the shenanigans. No participation necessary for him; just enjoying the company of good people (and some not so pleasant) was enough to keep him smiling. However, the next time he looked around, he found that both Vladlena and Talori had disappeared. As perceptive as he was, the chaos got the better of him, so he couldn't have kept up with them as they left.

He frowned a bit. Meeting someone interesting like that, only to have her slip away without a goodbye, was disappointing. Still, there were plenty of people who-

"DAMN! My head!" Glancing over to where the four Sczarni had fallen, Tryggve noticed them waking up and cradling their heads. Whatever had affected them had finally worn off, and they were coming too. With a shrug, he ignored them; whatever their problem was, he would find out when he went to the local Sczarni hideout to che-

"Hey, you!" One of the men looked at him curiously, as if recognizing his face. "Wait a minute, aren't you..." He paused, as if to second guess whether or not he was making the right guess.

"So much for down time," the near-albino thought. "Yeah, what?"

"Aren't you that Bone Cleaver guy?" the other one said, as the two other men started to search the bar. Tryggve rubbed the bridge of his nose, obviously annoyed with how the grunt had blurted out his stupid nickname; another reason there was little love lost on the members of the Society. The last thing he needed was his reputation keeping people away.

"Do you have to blurt it out to the world? Yes. Now what the hell do you want?" He was glaring at the two, obviously not impressed with their lack of discretion.

Gah, forums ate post. Will have to try again later.

No, what is ridiculous is the fact that most if not all of them have exceptional character submissions. Seriously, I have read novels with less well thought out casts for their main protagonists! Well done, everyone, and good luck...

It's a shame both characters Garox is talking with fell a little silent. Would have liked to roleplay him some more. I agree, the level of roleplay is high, the characters are very interesting. Not sure who will end up with who, but I'm sure it will be fun. If this goes on like this we will end up writing our own stories and don't need a GM ;)

One of the longer posts with Tal also got eaten. So annoying.

well I hope Fulito is among the likely chices, unfortunate for me the role play part left me a little insignificant. I always hated those pre selection cenes, I feel like it almost forces the DM's hand on selections establishing friendships before selection, thus making the GM feel guilty if they are not selected together, and leaving other unselected becuse of that depite have decnt submissions.

in any event I had some songs to sing for you all, but it would do no good if the posts went unread.

anyway good luck to all

I will admit I fell silent because the people Therana was talking with fell silent. After awhile with no replies, not much to reply to.

That is part of why I went off on my own and made items... I wanted an excuse to speak and act, but didn't want to have to catch up with the actions around me. Still have no idea when assassins suddenly arrived... that part is hazy.

I wouldn't worry man. Sorry that you kind of got ignored; there was so much going on that most newcomers got left in the dust. Besides, this isn't really pre-selection, per se. Talori just thougt it would be fun to demonstrate a small bit of her RP style, then it kind of exploded from there.

We'll probably consider all this interaction non-canon once we start the campaign, since so much crap happened. Besides, it would be nice to start from scratch, now that I have a better feel of how to RP my characters style...

Sorry if anyone got left out. I happen to be at home on Wednesdays, so I had a lot of time to post.

If Therana needs a guide to show her the town I am sure Garox would love to oblige ;).

Merick glances at his company at the bar, wondering through the haze about the events of the evening. He was at a crossroads, he thought...in one direction, a whirlwind of events that would sweep him on to glorious destiny, in the other a life of obscurity and despair. Likely an early self-induced grave to boot.

He grinned to no one in particular, holding his mug up for a brief moment in silent salute before tipping it back. All that was a worry for tomorrow...

Therana stretches a bit and yawns. The conversation had continued, but now it was getting quiet.

She reaches down, fingering her weapon just a bit with her gloved hand. Her eyes look over the room as she sets her backpack back on the floor, before finally turning to Merick to see if he's still awake. And she snorts as she sees the grin on his face.

Yep. Deep in his cups. Too much like the sailors, but enough not like them.

"Of those here, who will be going to the temple?"

Overhearing Therana, Garox smiles as he smells an opportunity. He moves over to the lady and takes a deep bow while saying "My dear lady, My name is Garox and I am well known in this city and know much of it's history. I would be more then happy to accompany you to the temple and tell you all about it. If you like we can take the scenic route through the market. A flower merchant just arrived bringing some nice roses from Riddleport. At the same time you would be under my protection so you do not have to worry about any pickpockets or annoying drunks troubling you."

His eyes focused on Therana after he drained the mug. Aye, that one might be the winner. His head swimming, he nevertheless responds.

"Aye, I'll be going to the temple on the morrow. I've got some questions for the Father."

A snort of amusement given as the courteous newcomer offers his services to the lady. Perhaps the man was sincere, so Merick kept his mouth shut on that particular subject. However...

"There shall be a handful of us going to the Temple tomorrow, good sir, so I doubt the pickpockets would target such...lethal targets when there are easier pickings. Although with so many going, I'm sure one more wouldn't hurt."

At this, he turns to the gunslinger, eyebrows going up in what can only be a 'it's your call' gesture. Had he slurred? His head was surely abuzz, now.

Therana raised an eyebrow to Garox, then pulled her cloak aside to reveal her firearm.

"Are you certain you won't be there to protect the pickpockets from me?"

She then pulled her cloak back over the gun, grinning.

"It would be interesting to see how many pickpockets would survive such an attempt. But you are welcome to come along and keep count... maybe warn away the wiser ones."

She then nodded to Merick. "We both have questions for him. I about history, you about your own subject. Perhaps we can help each other?"

Is recruitment closed?

I have interest in playing a Warder with the Zweihander Sentinel archetype from Path of War. He originally hails from Brevoy where he studied his martial path, but was was shunned by his brethren for favoring the Greatsword over the Aldori Dueling Sword. His main desire in life is to find a group of companions that he can call true friends, and once someone has earned that status there's nothing he won't do to help or protect them.

Garox laughs generously "Hahaha, I like you already miss."

In a more serious tone he adds "However, most pickpockets here are little children and I will not allow you to shoot those little rascals. Stay with me and they will leave you alone, no harm done either way. I have a mutual understanding with the kids."

To the more obvious drunk Merick he says with a smile "Are you sure you are fine to walk my friend? The sun is still up and we wouldn't want to have you end up with a sunstroke now would we."

You may realize that he does have a fair point. A good perception or sense motive would also tell you Garox would rather be alone with the pretty woman as to remove any third wheels that could spoil the mood ;).

Sczarni

I might not have internet access for the weekend until sunday. Just a heads up warning. Until then, have fun guys!

Yep, recruitment's closed. Sorry.

Talori follows Tal.

Vladlena places her hand on Talori's shoulder, but her eyes never leave Tal.

"And why precisely should we trust you? You have to admit, this seems all rather convenient, does it not?" The edges of her mouth turn down and her brow furrows, a mixture of sadness and anger. "I have yet to hear of a rendition of 'women follow strange man down dark alleyways' that did not end in tragedy." From the darker corners of her mind arise, memories of ripped corsets on flagstone, blood running down legs, and the stench of decay and rainwater.

I have seen the after-show of that tragedy enough times. I have no intention of playing it out myself.

"The more handsh that work toward a goal, then easier it getsh. As long as they work together. I accept." He gifts her with a winning smile, only slightly weakened by the glaze of his eyes.

Slow-broiled Merick.

The thought occurs to him, and he chuckles, shaking his head, as he addresses the 'guide' without looking at him.

"You mishundershtand, shir. I believe we, correct me if I am wrong Therana," at this point he gives her a companionable pat on the shoulder, then glances to Svalk and Zephir, "were going to the Temple tomorrow. I'll be quite fine, by then. If Sharenrae showsh any mercy."

And so far, he was doing alright for himself in the not get burnt to a crisp department. Although there had been some close calls. He liked to think of them as wake-up calls.

Just the new comers got ignored? I straight up put myself into the spot for conversation. And then without any notion, the entire thing shifted and it went so quick that obviously being at work was a disadvantage for me. Hence why I'm in favor of 3 groups, which would allow the 25/8 posters to post to their hearts content. Trust me Fulito, it wasn't just you, it was a fair amount of us who got straight up ignored.

" Yes I had definitely planned to go, though I believe they call it a cathedral here." He glances at Therana, " I was hoping this fine Lady would accompany me. As for the rest. Meh."
He shrugs and wavers his hand in the air, seeming to indicate his indifference to whether the others come or not.
"People will go where they will, it's not for me to deny them my company, and a chance at greatness."

I did try to acknowledge people. I will admit I missed posts on occasion and that some acknowledgements were not enough.

Therana nodded to Garox, then stretched a bit. She was definitely feeling the long night.

"Well, I would appreciate it if I did not have to scare them off... I prefer not to scare children when I can."

She then waved for another water, sipping it when it arrived. Her eyes watched Merick, though she gave a smile as he speaks. "You are not wrong." And if Sarenae is truly willing to help you, she'll let me convince you to give up the drink.

She, of course, did not let her face reflect that thought. Instead, she just sipped her water. And then Zephir spoke up, drawing her attention. She had thought him asleep for a bit!

"Why don't we all go together? The four of us each seem to have business there, and working as a group we can each complete each other's goals faster. Plus, I think any troublemakers will take one look at us and flee to the farthest hills."

And I know you three are flirting with me. But this comes first, and I suspect I'll need the help of each. And it's very important!

She paused for a moment in her thoughts, a brief confused look crossing her face. Why is it important?

She sipped the water more, mentally pushing the question aside. Must just be the atmosphere. Probably just the fumes from the alcohol.

"Do you three agree?"

He wasn't sure their goals would keep them together past the cathedral. If he didn't get himself up to a room it might not make it past tonight. With as much gravity as he can muster. "Agreed."

He nods to himself, then glances at his companions as he gets to his feet, quite wobbly.

"I think I should retire if we are to get an early shtart of it."

He checks his pockets for his room key. Realizes he didn't get a room yet.

" Ahhh...Why not! It could be fun. "
and I don't know who or what or where my Destiny will develop...Bah knowing you are destined for greatness without any other information is taxing. My brain is full of mush... I don't think this drink is helping either...
I understand your pain Satinder, I post for a while then sleep or go to work (where I have no access to internet) and come back to a page or more of posts. Its difficult, and apparently Zephir has narcolepsy as he keeps zoning out. BUT I roll with it, interact with others instead of waiting for them to interact with me.
Also keeping a GOOD attitude is imperative to getting into ANY PBP games. And while I would love to see the GM run 3 or more games, I also realize that he isn't obligated to run any. I've been lucky to get into about a tenth of the games I've applied for, and this is my 4th RotRL attempt. Failed the 1st 3 so hey, here we go again. Keep positive and keep trying. XD

Sorry guys, I was busy getting financial aid worked out for my blood tests and working on helping my friend lay out a plan for a brick-and-mortar gaming store with a robust online shop. It's taken a good bit of my time today, so sorry I haven't posted. Tomorrow posting will resume.

I will select applicants tomorrow!

Also, I've decided to run 2 campaigns for sure, but am unsure whether or not to make the 2nd one RotRL. He tried running two similar campaigns and said there were problems keeping things seperate. Who all would be down for a Reign of Winter, Carrion Crown, or Wrath of the Righteous campaign, if that's the route I choose for campaign number 2? Trying to also narrow down who's really hardcore for RotRL and who is fine either way. Answer truthfully and don't feel forced into either option.

Eager to hear from you all and apologies again for my absence within the past 24 hours!

Well we know I'm for RotRL

I would prefer RotRL.

I'm not opposed to the idea of Carrion Crown, but I would want to play a different character.

truthfully for me, Fulito is built based on Runelords (or possibly jade regent) at least by the back story.

I am currently in a reign of winter game I could go for a second but not quite sure what to play really.

an I am in a carrion crown game as well, although it is on a slight hiatus due to the DM being a new father. (at the end of book two).

Wrath of Righteous never appealed to me. I tried it and dropped out as I just was not really into it.

Oh, and Curse of the Crimson Throne and Council of Thieves are also options.

EDIT: Shattered Star as well. Sorry, it's just a tad bit late here lol.

I would love to be in RotRL... But I've been really wanting to play WotR. RotRL is preferred, in any case.

I am interested in just about all of those, though I am currently prepping to run Carrion Crown right now, so I've read it.

There's a very good chance I would want make a new character for another AP that's more closely tied to the plot, setting, and themes.

Sczarni

If Jade Regent isn't available for the campaign number 2, I would REALLY want to play RotRL, since it fits for my character to be there besides "he wanders the land". However, I know next to nothing about the other campaigns, so I have no opinion on those...whatever works.

I would be fine either way, would prefer wrath of the righteous for 2nd ap

new additions:

Crimson throne: Playing that now, and applied for a new one.
Shattered star: Honestly no real interest in that one.

council of thieves, I started that one but it died very quickly I have a character for that one that I haven't played in a long time (almost as long as Fulito)

Still hoping for a way of the wicked as well.... "Little Orphan Annie has been a very bad girl and should be put in jail." hehehehehe...

I would prefer not Reign of Winter or Wrath of the Righteous as I am currently in both. Anything else is fine.

My preference is RotRL. If I don't make the 'cut', then I'd be open to another adventure path.

Oh mighty GM, I mentioned it upthread, but I just wanted to get clarification if you dont mind. Are the Path of War classes open for this game? I am looking to play a true tank and protector of my companions, both in roleplay and abilities.

Gambit, recruitment has closed for this game. However, once I get another AP up, Warders are allowed, but I will need some sort of link so I can see the class. I don't have Path of War, unfortunately.

If not RotRL, I will need to remake my character a bit.

Ok, well thanks for letting me know. Is Kingmaker an option for APs, cause I would play the crap out of a Warlord in KM. ;)

Yeah, like with most of the people here, I would need to make a few character adjustments if we switched APs: personally, I would vote for two tables of RotRL, although if we voted two different APs, I would like JR, then WotR, in order of preference.

While RotRL is my preference it's only CC and RoW I'm not interested in of those you listed.

I agree RotRL is preferred, but I would be willing to play something else, I may have to change characters though.

Ultimately its down to whatever you best prefer GM however, assuming you are ok with either option, then my personal preference would be a second RotRL group, mostly because I am already in a RoW group, and there is an existing CC recruitment ongoing, and I'd feel a little guilty applying for both.

Likewise, I'd feel better switching characters if we did a different AP, and I sorta like Skyla, so RotRL remains my preference.

RotRL or RoW for me :)

Tal's voice is calm but has a hint of irritation. He does not like being second guessed when he is going out of his way to help these women. "At this point you have no choice but to trust me. If I was part of the group after you, you would have been caught by now for my friends would have laid an ambush and the combination of our abilities would have been more then you could have handled, I assure you." In a lighter tone he adds "Not to worry, I will make sure that this is a first for a happy ending after following a strange man down an alley."

After a couple of twists and turns you arrive out of the city proper after about 5 minutes.
Tal turns to you and says "My aunts farm is a few minutes walk from here. But for now we are removed from prying eyes. If you have any burning questions you can ask them now or wait while we do them over tea. Once you meet my aunt I am sure you will be assured of my motives. She is quite the character." He adds with a smile.

I am here really for RotRL. If I didn't get selected for it but you wanted me for your alternate campaign I will (of course) not turn my nose up at it, but I will have to create a new character for it... which opens the possibilities of you not finding him/her as interesting.
