Background:
Jes grew up in Magnimar. She had been adopted into one of the minor merchant houses and raised as their own as they could not conceive their own child. She had a solid education and her parents learned at a very early age that Jes was extremely inquisitive and very bright. They didn’t know whether this was simply because she was a gnome or because she was special, but like all parents they assumed it was because she was very special.
In academy Jes excelled in the arcane arts though not in the traditional sense. Instead she was able to brew concoctions instilled with arcane energy and use those for herself. She loved history and found the different monuments of Magnimar especially intriguing, particularly monuments that pre-dated the city like the Irespan. During one of her outings for research she came across a small alcove into Irespan. Her she found a some ancient writings that she had never seen. She took etchings and raced back to the academy to consult her mentors. None were aprticulalry familiar with the strange language though she was eventually directed to someone who was; Brodert Quink. Brodert explained what he knew of an ancient empire that pre-dated Magnimar and even the Earthfall. A powerful society known as Thassilon.
Over the next several years as Jes finished up her schooling and started to continue her research she worked with Brodert closly learning everything she could of Thassilon and building up her skill with their ancient language. After Brodert received a request to study a ruin in the small town of Sandpoint Jes quickly jumped at the opportunity to travel outside of Magnimar, having hit a wall in her own research. Brodert, enjoying Jes’s company, her continuous optimism and her reverence of his knowledge, unlike any he usually gets elsewhere, decided to take her on as an apprentice.
So the two made their way to Sandpoint and setup shop near the Old Light where they have been continuing their research over the last 10 years.
Personality:
Jes is energetic and inquisitive. She is very easy going and loves the company of others as long as she isn’t in the middle of some new piece of research. She always thinks the best of people, which luckily hasn’t been too much of an issue. She isn’t naïve by any means but believes people are inherently good. Anytime she finds a new piece of history she is like a dog with a bone, always digging as far as she can. Due to her family history she does have some amount of business acumen, but it is mainly passing knowledge.
Description:
Jes stands at just slightly over 3 feet. She is petite even for a gnomes standard and looks almost like a small child. Her hair is a fiery red, which is usually put up in ornate arrangements on top her head, partially for fashion but also for function. She has piercing green eyes and a small button of a nose. Her child like looks only adds to her cute and innocent appearance. Her clothes are common to the region, generally in slightly brighter colors, but nothing too obnoxious. She is often carrying around a book scribbling notes, and always has a small pack with various vials of liquids.
