Background:
Merick grew up the third son of a minor noble house near Dyvers. He was raised by his parents to be deferential to his elder brothers, but to command respect from servants, as he would likely establish a small household of his own one day. One day, while swimming in the Nyr Dyv, Merick was pulled under by a current and remained underwater for many minutes. The next thing Merick saw was a kindly middle-aged man in battle-armor smiling down at him as the youth spat out the water in his lungs. Merick's savior had been a priest of Heironeous, and circumstance had dictated they cross paths in this way. Taking it as a sign, Merick informed his parents and went with the man to train in the priesthood. The priest jokingly referred to Merick as 'The Blue', due to his near drowning, an intentionally ironic nickname considering the good humor of the lad.

The young man has recently left to spread the worship of Heironeous in his own right, helping to set right the wrongs in the world.

Personality:
Merick has a deep voice despite his size, and locks eyes with whom he is speaking. He has an easy smile available for anybody who he associates with justice or good, but sets his jaw grimly against never-do-wells and troublemakers. Merick has a black and white way of looking at things, usually, so he has trouble in gray situations.
