About Arthur Brimstone
Back of Arthur
Spoiler:
For as long as arthur could remember he had wanted to be a champion, supported by divine might. He had listened to all the stories told about paladins, and since the age of 5 had knew what he wanted in life. To be one of the Chosen few. And so since that early age he learned everything he could about paladinhood. He tried to train himself in the way of the sword (acctualy is was more of the way of the pitchfork but hey trying to find any real weapon on a farm is next to impossible). When ever the boy would play "Damsel in destress", or "Fight the gobo hords" he had been "Brave Sir Robin the Paladin from Gods". And so by the age of 12 having saved a few coins and with the blessing of his adopted mother he left for the Temple-Fortress of the followers of Irori. It was the closest divine facility with aspiring followers of the divine that he could make for.
Now on his way back to Standpoint in order to gather some supplies and to witness the opening cathedral dedicated not to one but to six gods, arthur was reflecting on the failures of the last 10 years. He had indeed succeeded in the initial tryouts and trained hard in the way of the Sword, of the Faith, of the Divine Magic but he had failed at all the test. First it was the Paladinhood's test. He just wasn't chosen by God. He had neither the smite ability nor the detect evil granted to those called. He tough he could then serve as an inquisitor or a cleric of Irori, but there also he had failed at the tests. He just couldn't manifest any of the domain granted powers of the priesthood. And last but not least although he could cast divine spells he just couldn't channel any positive energy. His dream was slowly being reduced to ash.
So finally having failed at every tests possible he had to leave the Temple Monastery and go figure out his calling on his own.
And so he had left the holy ground having learn a few things about himself: He has some assimar's blood flowing in him and he could manifest some divine magic, but no Gods nor any established Church was able to claim him as one of their own. He knew that for certainty as he had tried the divine test of all the churches of all known religion present in Varisia, and therefore it must be true that he is an oracle, but not one chosen by a God. And he wasn't even chosen by a prominent (and sexy combat oriented) power. He wasn't chosen to be a Battle Oracle, or an Ancestry nor even a Metal Oracle. And speaking in Infernal while engaged in combat has always been hard on Arthur trying to explain that he is indeed a "Good" guy and not the opposite
