Since you guys whined about his ability scores, I pumped up his mental scores, making him truly the handsomest Underfolk. I pumped WIS to reflect his "think first, then act" motto, and nerfed DEX because he has big clumsy spade-like fingers and toes.

Before Combat Unless under immediate threat, Lann takes his time to study and parley with opponents. However, he rarely gives demons a chance to escape.
During Combat Lann concentrates his attacks on demons. Once he defeats them, he prefers to offer a truce to any surviving foes, however as a crusader he will obey the orders of a higher ranking crusader without question.
Morale Lann would rather flee or surrender and live rather than fight to the death.

Lann is tall and thin, and almost handsome for an Underfolk. His features meld the appearance of an attractive elven man, a goat, and a lizard folk. He has oversized fingers that end in dull, spadelike talons. He is friendly and outgoing, with a docile temperament. His voice is raspy and strangely accented, but he is eloquent in Common and Undercommon. Slow to anger and eager to make peace, Lann formerly worked as a diplomat on behalf of Neathholm with other underground races, arranging trades for much needed supplies and listening for gossip and intel on those who would seek to do them harm. On the surface, Lann is eager to learn and see all he can, and is often seen remarking in awe at mundane things found on the surface - whether common animals like robins and squirrels, or surface food like apple pie or lamb and pork.

Lann was born in the Underfolk village of Neathholm, a community formed of the descendants of the malborn offspring of the First Crusade, born before the Crusaders could accurately treat the reproductive repercussions that came from extended periods of fighting in the Worldwound. To protect their children, some of the crusaders of Kenabres fled underground, raising a village of good, hard-working Iomedaeans, but also a healthy fear of what could happen if they ever emerged to the surface.

Life in Neathholm was relatively peaceful compared to the surface. Until one day the cultist Hosilla arrived with a group of worshippers of Baphomet. They were seeking places to lay down a series of temporary gates to the Abyss deep underground, enough to summon an army of demons beyond the protection of the wardstones and then lead an attack on Kenabres above. Stumbling upon the people of Neathholm, Hosilla seized an opportunity. Charismatic and likeable, Hosilla was able to seize the hearts and minds of Neathholm’s hunter-warriors, Lann’s lover Tellia among them. Her rhetoric was simple: why slave away at hunting bugs and growing mushrooms under ground, when the surface world was ripe for the taking? What did the Underfolk owe crusaders who would slay them on sight anyway?

Chief Sull was able to intervene to prevent all-out war amongst the Underfolk, but Hosilla took the hunter-warriors away to a small sanctum, leaving the village vulnerable. Then the earthquakes came, caused by the shuddering of Kenabres’ damaged wardstone. The Underfolk knew that if the earthquakes intensified, the cavern systems where they made their home collapsed. They only had two options: uproot their families to go deeper into the underground, hopefully finding a new, safe location for Neathholm. Or go to the surface. Since Hosilla controlled the only accessable route to the surface, deeper seemed to be the only option.

The Heroes of Kenabres stumbled upon Lann and his friends on an excursion to find a safeway deeper into the underground. With their help, Lann was able to drive out the cultists from Neathholm and persuade Wenduag and the hunter-warriors to rejoin the tribe. Knowing that their village was not long for this world, the heroes also offered them safe-passage in Kenabres.

Lann anxiously waited in Neathholm for their reply, but the heroes came through on their word, sending paladins of the Eagle’s Watch to help escort them to a sanctuary at Defender’s Heart. The Heroes went on to re-take Kenabres, and the Underfolk slowly adjusted to a new life on the surface. Despite their unusual appearance, the heroes and the current leaders of the Kenabres refugees, Chevalier Irabeth, vouched for them in the face of those among the crusades who were skeptical. For the rest, the Underfolk proved themselves hard-working and loyal. They helped rebuild Kenabres to its current state, and many of the Underfolk, Lann included, swore the oath to formally join the Crusades.

Later, when Ary Bishop, one of the Heroes of Kenabres, was appointed Commander of an army to retake the lost crusader city Drezen, Lann and the Underfolk pledged themselves to her cause. Though unusual in the Crusades, Chevalier Irabeth suggested that the Crusader Underfolk be allowed to remain Wenduag’s leadership, rather than integrated into other squadrons. While Lann formally reports to Captain Vica of the Eagle’s Watch, he fought under Wenduag’s direction, although the Underfolk hunter is not a crusader herself.

Lann has gained much experience fighting in this past campaign, becoming familiar with the standard crusader longsword over the primitive weapons he formally used underground. However he avoids heavy armor - mobility was key in the dark, winding tunnels under Kenabres, and this is a lesson he would not soon forget. Today, Lann has pledged his sword to the Heroes’ cause. His people largely lack the cynicism of the crusaders of the surface, and he often remarks that once the war is over, he hopes to travel far across Golarion, using his new skills to help in need that he finds along the way.

Lann's stats seem to be calculated using ABP for a level 8 character. I assume that HeroLab is using his HD rather than his CR?

You're right, I didn't catch that. So he should have 1 less on all saves (only +1 resistance bonus) until he levels up again.

One more thing about his stats, though. I think I see the +2 ability score enhancements from ABP to his Strength and Wisdom, but I don't see the two +1 ability score increases from hitting 4 and 8 HD.

I believe that HD always stack for the purposes of feats, ability score increases, bonus hit points from Constitution, etc., regardless of their source. But, uh, I don't exactly have a source for that, because the rules for monsters with class levels and monsters as PCs are scattered all over the place.

Sorry. I'll stop pestering you about this for now, since if Ehren gets his soul eaten in this dungeon, it will all sort of be a moot point. :P

IN OTHER NEWS:

I now have a full-time position in the library! I'll be working 40 hours a week now as opposed to 28, and I get all the snazzy benefits that come with working for the local government. I doubt that this will affect my ability to post much, but I'll let you all know if circumstances change.

I believe the confusion is that you get bonus ability scores from additional HD, regardless of source (adding class levels or by adding bonus vanilla HD using the monster advancement rules) but you don't get any from the original set of HD.

Ohhh, okay, that makes a lot of sense. Funny how one word changes the whole meaning of the sentence.

So comparing Lann's stats to the basic mongrelman underfolk stats (14/13/15/10/12/7), as a CR 7 creature he has a +2 to Strength and Wisdom from ABP (16/13/15/10/14/7). It looks like he is missing the increase from having at least four class levels though. Maybe put it into Charisma, for the handsomest underfolk? ;P

Hey guys! I know that we're still in the middle of DANGER ZONE MYTHIC TRIAL SIEGE MODE here. HOWEVER, I am writing an adventure in Kiora's world for us. In short, the adventure is Riftwardens who are stopping an evil cult that operates out of the Worldwound because it got noticed on other planes and it causes INTERPLANE POLITICAL DRAMA. I am planning on this being a mid-level (~10) adventure, to be a possibility to introduce backups, and to encourage playing outsider PCs.

This will be a fairly short adventure (~3-5 encounters and a few social situations, plus a bit of traveling) and I hope it kicks off the opportunity for us to all write and have little side-quests to explore this world that we're creating together. (Personally, I love writing and running sidequests that feature supporting cast characters)

HOWEVER, I am at the stage of writing that I will need to build encounters soon. So, I wanted to ask who might be interested in that, so I can build them appropriately for the number of PCs that it will be. Is anyone interested? Does anyone need questions answered?

So, I have been mulling this over for a while, and I was wondering if we could do a little something about Hinagiku’s reach. Normally, with all her weapon proficiencies, Hinagiku should be able to wield a guisarme (trip reach weapon). However, I really feel like her using weapon is weird. I have been doing it (longspear, kioketsu shoge, shuriken) and it just doesn’t feel right… like its forced. Anyway, it’s just not Hinagiku. So, obviously, for roleplay reasons I would never have her use a guisarme. However, and I know I am asking quite a lot (and I am not expecting much from it), I was wondering if Hinagiku could get the benefits of using a guisarme without using one like being considered with two hands full out of her round and get a longer reach. Obviously, her to hit would be low (she would be using strength as her ability score to attack with). The flavor I would give it (and will give to most trip attempts in the future anyway) is that she uses the ley lines to trip opponents. Anyway, it’s just a thought, let me know what you think!

I'm fine with that, as long as:

A. You aren't abusing handedness, which you bring up (it uses two hands, you can't do that and also use your hands for carrying things or performing other actions with hands).

B. Enemies can still use the disarm action or stun to disrupt your invisi-guisarme.

C. You are ok with not getting the benefits of using a slashing weapon, because you need to carry a blade to get the benefits of the Slashing weapon damage type.

D. The invisi-guisarme doesn't benefit from ABP to unarmed strike, but you could apply ABP to the invisi-guisarme if you wanted. Also since it's not actually a weapon, it can't ever count as a special material for overcoming DR short of some sort of magical buff. You would need to use a real reach weapon for that.

You should hold off until after the chapter ends to utilize this new power and you should think of some cool terminology to refer to it being in effect (i.e. when you would normally be drawing the guisarme) that isn't "invisible guisarme" haha. "Ley-Reach" maybe?

Yes and no. I missed stuff and, to be honest, it is prettier than were I live in Canada (more grass). I also have pretty good fracquaintances. But, our housing situation is not as good.
