Yup, it happens sometimes.

Merle

Male Human Fighter (Pole Arm Master) / 2: HP-25, AC-20/13/17 (+2 Per, +2 Init, F+5 / R+2 / W+0)

"Damn it". "Maybe you'll listen to me next time...if there is a next time".

Merle moves forward to within 10' of one of the soldiers, and swing his mighty pickaxe.

Mithas steps into melee range of one of the crossbowmen:

Damage (nonlethal): 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8

Free intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Mithas attack also fails the mark, however the half-orc succeeds in making soldier 2 shaken with a loud roar.

could have been worse, if you were firing into melee that would have hit your friend... but at least you didn't role a 2 or a 1 which would have been a misfire.

Joseph fires his pistol but it fires harmlessly into a tree.
