When Raj was referring to their "new friends" he was referring to the gnolls, not Dashki
Raj grins. Master Hamzah, methinks you have misunderstood my intentions. I have no intention at all of reforming these gnolls; I intend to enchant them into being willing to fight against their brethren. And before someone starts lecturing me on morality, please bear in mind that we were going to kill both these guys and the ones in the town anyway, so we might as well keep ourselves safer and have them do each other in.

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

"No, Leyli. Dashki will not be killing them. He has forsworn violence. We will not force him to kill these gnolls. He has suffered greatly at their hands. I will not inflict greater suffering on the man. Who knows what any of us would be like, if we had been taken by gnolls as children. It is a miracle that he has not been turned evil having lived amongst such filthy creatures." Hamzah frowns.
As Hamzah is returning to care for Dashki, he says to Raj, "I have no wish to have them as friends charmed or otherwise. I will not oppose your plan. If you feel you can make good use of these gnolls to kill the others, then so be it. They eat each other's young like cannibals. Do with these jackals as you wish. I will only kill them and let the sun bleach their bones."

Leyli Wildspeaker |

"I will not force Dashki to kill them with his hands. What I was asking is if he would be ok with somebody doing that deed. He was still raised by these gnolls. His father was slain by these gnolls and he still managed to defend them, if you please, explain to him that these gnolls need to die for I don't think the people in the caravan will welcome them happily."

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

"Time will heal Dashki. He will learn a new way of life. You may kill the gnolls if you wish, Leyli. Feed them to your tiger for a meal as they would do to you if given the chance. I will not oppose you. They stink and I tire of their presence. Dashki's father and his mother will smile upon us to be avenged for their deaths and the suffering of their child."
"I am not a gnoll. Dashki is not a gnoll. I am a man. These gnolls are the enemies of men. Let them beg us for mercy on their knees with their weapons thrown down praying we give it. Then let them spend several generations making up for the generations of suffering their kind has visited upon men. Then perhaps I will feel somewhat more open to offering gnolls the Dawnflower's redemption."
"If it were my decision, they would die now. Dashki has no say in this matter. He fears them. We will teach him who is the stronger soon. He will learn that man will not suffer the predations of gnolls. Nor will he suffer their presence. If they should take one of our children and treat them as they treated Dashki, they will suffer a hundred times his fate."

Leyli Wildspeaker |

"They would not make a fine meal, perhaps our wizard can do something about those gnolls."

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar pulls Hamzah aside for a moment.
[spoiler=Hamzah] Brother, I understand your position. It was not I who captured these gnolls, now once we have them I will not see them suffer. If we wish kill them, then we do it cleanly. I will speak with Raj regarding his magicks, We do not need these gnolls as allies. Dashki should be far away before the gnolls are slain. Are we in agreement?
Hajar walks over to where Dashki is sitting and quietly speaks to the man.
Master Dashki, what you you wish done here? Do you believe these gnolls will walk the path of light?
Then Hajar motions Raj to come over, once he does Hajar asks a question that has been burning inside him all night.
Master Raj, the leader Narg mentioned that Kelmarane's gnolls followed Janni. Is this common? I have a feeling it is not. Also, what could you tell us about the Jann.

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

Hamzah will take Dashki into the monastery to lay before the altar of the Dawnflower. He will look after the man cleaning him with water he creates with the Dawnflower's blessing. [b]"Rest now, Dashki. You are amongst your own. The jackals will not darken your life again."
The janni leadership is interesting. I meant to ask about that. I would like to know.

Leyli Wildspeaker |

After hearing about the Jann from Hajar, Leyli will listen closely to them and observe the ceremony being done by Hamzah.
I guess Leyli's not supposed to hear that conversation between you guys right?
"Do tell us Master Raj, by the way, would you be able to cast a magic that would let you see through their memories?"

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Master Dashki, what you you wish done here? Do you believe these gnolls will walk the path of light?
Dashki: Do not trust a gnoll that talks to you with its teeth bared. They will turn on you as soon as you give them the chance. You have to break gnolls, when they speak with head down and tail tucked, only then do they submit and you may trust them as long as you keep strong.

Gunk |

Well, this is an interesting turn of events Gunk thinks to himself.
Out of earshot of Dashki Gunk says the following Not that my vote is worth much, but I also care less than nothing for these creatures and would gladly see them disposed of. Quickly and mercifully if possible. Painful and slow if not so long as the end result is the same.
After this expression of politics, Gunk heads over to Dashki to help see to his wounds.
Dashki, I am sorry for the pains I have caused you. My intention was merely to bring you here peacefully so you can live a long and happy life surrounded by your own kind. When you came at me with your weapons drawn and I could not see any of my comrades coming to back me up, admittedly I panicked and over reacted and attacked you. For what it is worth, I am sorry and if you will accept my offer, I'd like to help you get re-established into your new life. I know the caravan could use someone with your skill set and background to help keep them safe. Perhaps I could secure a commission for you with them?

Leyli Wildspeaker |

"I see, well I'll go and check with the rest of the people if they're safe. Call me if you need me." says Leyli as she goes around and ask if they need help with something.

Hamzah Hamas Al Dajannah |

Hamzah watches over Dashki. He makes sure Dashki bathes and cleans himself so he will feel more like a man. He ensures no one treats him poorly. He will spend time reading to Dashki from Sarenare's holy text including tales of redemption he has heard.
"You have done well, Dashki. We thank you for your knowledge. It will help us greatly."
***
Hamzah joins the others for discussions concerning the Kelmarene gnolls.
"A large janni with an enormous axe. We will pet Tempest versus his axe won' we Hajar. See who is stronger."

Hajar nar Jundi |

Ok backing up time a bit...
Hajar nominates himself Leyli and Grim to stay behind with the gnolls. He feels that although they are sentient beings and capable of redemption, the fact that Dashki condemned them speaks volumes. He will do what needs to be done, Tempest is also urging for their death.
Moving to present time (next day?)
Hajar will join Hamzah in Dashki's reeducation into the ways of men. Hajar proposes that this part of the Monastery be given over to Dashki for the time being.
Hey a request, could we get some sort of timeline for the campaign in the campaign tab. Maybe a day by day recap or a simpler timeline. I have some trouble fitting things into my head, especially since we have been going for over a month but its maybe been 3? days in game time.

Earlier...
Janni... A lesser genie, but still powerful in its own right. It's also the only kind of genie native to this plane. They've got some pride though, and why a Janni would stoop down to lead gnolls is beyond me.
Speaking of gnolls, while I probably could make these two useful, it would require quite a bit of resources, and they'd be more useful in a frontal attack than the guerrilla warfare we'll be doing anyway. Do with them as you wish.
After learning more about the Janni:
Raj pales a little. A Janni with a massive ax? It couldn't be... No, the Templars especially would never ally with gnolls. He chuckles a little to himself. He has to have some weapon of another, it might as well be an ax...
The next morning, the party wakes up to hear some crashing and banging coming from the direction of the hall. Upon investigation, they find Raj struggling with a large barrel in the garden, with a bar of soap wizzing around his head and a scrubbing brush giving him a back scratch.
Ah, good morning everyone! You're just in time. After nearly 3 weeks of stench, bath day has finally arrived for all of you! Hamzah, would you be so kind as to fill this barrel with water from your magic? Afterwards, I've got first dibs on a good bath.
Nemaides pipes up, Yeah, and I'll keep watch while everyone's bathing. Make sure no more zomb- CRAW!!! Raj had thrown the scrubbing brush at him.

Gunk |

A bath sounds like a good idea. I've got half the desert collected in my nether regions and its starting to chafe. Raj you mentioned a Janni with an axe. That sounds vaguely familiar. Do you think this lesser djinni is posing as one of the Templars pictured on the walls downstairs?

Leyli Wildspeaker |

"Water you say?." with a stroke of her hand Leyli fills the tub with water, ready for the wizard to adjust the temperature as needed.
---------------
"A lesser genie, with as very little information we have. Let us not underestimate our opponents."
If noone will use it, might I use the +1 scimitar for backup. Only if noone will use it as an upgrade.

![]() |

Sorry Leyli, the extent of my knowledge of heat spells is making a little spark to light a fire. It's cold showers today! Thank you for the water, and if you don't mind... A few large leaves fly up to form a visual shield for his nether regions as he begins undressing. I shall begin.
Nemaides lets out a screech. Ack! Now there's something I don't need to see! He zips out the doorway, and as he flys down the hall hollers behind him, If you people value your retinas, follow me!
Ah come on Nemaides! Yells back Raj as he eases into the water. You'd be far uglier than me without your clothes on! He rolls his eyes and then calls out to wherever the others are: Hey, while I'm washing up, why don't the rest of you plan our next attack?

Hajar nar Jundi |

It is currently day 5. My thought is that we spend day 5 preparing and scouting Kelmarane to begin the offensive on day 6. How does Almah feel about this? Also, can we sell our mundane gear to the caravan?
Master Grim, I believe we will do just that.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Yes you can sell to the caravan she is a trader after all.
Almah has always suggested that you do small scale raids to thin there numbers, rather then an all out attack.
Grim scouted out random patrols along with some scattered activity in some buildings.
(look at the map. give me a number and I will tell you how the trip goes what you see what you run into. remember North is to the Left on that map and you are coming from the South or Right.)

Hajar nar Jundi |

B2 is fine with me. I'm still carrying the mace, if anyone would rather use it I'll relinquish it asap.
Brother Hamzah, In the future after this expedition. How would you feel about restoring the monastery of St. Vardishal fully? I feel, called upon to perform this act. Also, I believe a quiet place of contemplation would be good for Dashki and others who suffer from the depredations of Katapesh.

Al-Akim Naziri |

Al-Akim addresses his two most faithful companions,"Indeed brothers, the Monastery should be brought back to the desert as a glorious beacon of our lady's light! I must admit, I am anxious to begin the cleansing of Kelmarane."
I am glad for the decisions we have made this past night, we shall bring Sarenrae's swift justice to the desert, and cleanse it of these foul beasts.
Al-Akim prepares himself for the upcoming raid by praying at the statue of Sarenrae. When not praying, you can see him practicing for battle with his Falchion, going through the steps and forms his former mentor taught him over a decade ago.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

When everyone is ready is ready you head out. The morning is like most in Katapesh, hot and dry.
Grim scouts ahead and motions everyone to a good vantage point overlooking your first target.
This building must have once been a gatehouse at the base of the hill, but it no longer provides any barrier to travel up the road—all that remains of its gate being a crumbling stone arch. The entire western wall has fallen away leaving a exelent view of the road that goes down the hill.
Your position is north of the hill road looking down on the gnoll infested city.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Carefully?
Send in the ranger and rogue. The rest of us follow 1 or 2 rounds behind.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Grim leads the scouting party. Silent as a whisper they head down the hill together. At the bottom of the hill Grim motions Naziri to say back. Grim sneaks up and listens at the corner of the fallen structure.
Everyone hears a loud snort then the grunt of a huge boar.
The head of a giant dire boar rushes around the corner. Its beady red eyes spot Naziri and it charges ahead tusks down to gore Naziri!
Combat round 1
Everyone is 30 feet away.
Make a DC 10 Acrobatics check to run down the hill and engage in melee. If you fail you slip and fall.
Boar goes first but no surprise round. It got 32 for its perception check.

Al-Akim Naziri |

Al-Akim looks very eager to begin the evening's events. Pacing back and forth, the young Ranger adjusts his falchion, and armor to make sure that they are not slipping or bouncing around needlessly. He tests the draw on his bow and then addresses the group, "Grim and I will go first, the rest of you should follow behind...maybe 50-75 feet. Grim will give a signal when we are ready to engage the jackals."
At this, Naziri pulls his keffiyeh over his face, and sets off to move into position.

Hajar nar Jundi |

Hajar charges the beast, screaming to draw its attention away from his fallen comrade.
Yaarrrgh!
acrobatics: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (11) - 4 = 7
Hajar succeeds in comically slipping up and sprawling in the dirt nearby.

Gunk |

As the group is discussing the strategy Gunk casts 'shield' (+4 to ac) and 'expeditious retreat' (+30 base movement) on himself.
What happened to 'waiting for the signal' to attack? Gunk thinks to himself as the paladin and the cleric faceplant on the hill. We had 1 instruction to follow in this complicated plan.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
As he runs past the two fallen warriors Gunk can be heard chuckling and he says That's how its done boys!
Edit: the italicized text is Gunk thinking to himself and only if the two warriors 'jumped the gun' so to speak. Obviously time is wonky and a bit displaced when we are posting out of turn.
