Game Master W Canepa

Welcome, Dungeonators and Dungeonatrixes, to your chance at freedom and glory in The Dungeon Arena!

Dungeon World, a massive complex in the Astral Plane formed by a mad minotaur lich-god countless eons ago, is where adventurers, slaves, debtors,

lol

Sigz, I totally didn't realize you were Jack!

No wonder I liked that guy. :)

Well, in-character, it wouldn't be unreasonable to come to that conclusion. Thinky is a well-know gladiator in the games, and Braegan would know that. The Bonegrinders are a fan favorite team. They're like the lovable villains.

Was Arkol a new recruit to their team or did we just off one of their good buddies?

HP 17/17, AC 18/ 14/ 14, Fort +5, Ref +4, Will +1, CMD 17(18) Damphir Cad 2

Why thank you Eban. I do believe I am flattered.

Arkol, Sir Snarl, Dark Arrow, and the rest of the PCs are all new to the arena.

The Bonegrinders' cocky power players decided to complain about their salary and contracts, and are on strike, effectively. Leaving an opening on their team.

Plan C lost nearly all of its members last season, and Ezendra and Zayle are the only remaining members.

So you're saying we did them a favor... awesome.

Did them a favor?

By killing off such a waste of a fighter spot. I mean, they didn't want Arkol the Weak Link when they got into the serious fights, right? :D

Male

psssst! Eban!

I appreciate the heads-up, but I'm stretched fairly thin as it is now. Looks like an interesting game, though.

Braegan: Ha, possibly. The newbies were mostly to fill the gap on their roster, and a metagame reason to make it plausible for all the PCs to join, too. I'm sure if 3-5 NPC gladiators teamed up on one of you, you'd go down pretty quickly as well.

Oh, fine... if you're gonna be all logical on me.

Sheesh. Can't a guy brag and swagger a bit without being called out?

Dropped a "Tactics" spoiler at the bottom of Braegan's profile.

The Announcer is a construct. ;)

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Beastrider) 5

GM:

About the ride by attack.
The rules say:

Moving Through a Square
Friend: You can move through a square occupied by a friendly character, unless you are charging.

Opponent: You can't move through a square occupied by an opponent unless the opponent is helpless. You can move through a square occupied by a helpless opponent without penalty.

Ride-By Attack
When you are mounted and use the charge action, you may move and attack as if with a standard charge and then move again (continuing the straight line of the charge). Your total movement for the round can't exceed double your mounted speed. You and your mount do not provoke an attack of opportunity from the opponent that you attack.

I made that move because I thought Yark to be incapacitated, and since opponents are no hinder, neither should be allies.
Reading the above descriptions I also get the the impression that, friends between you and the opponent hinder the charge, and that make sense, but the movement after is no longer a charge, just a new movement action

EDIT: I see right now the updated map. With the leopard there I couldn't charge. As I wrote in my post, writing before Mandra was a long shot, but time was running out.
I guess we should still found our way to act a team.

Finally made it back to the States from Japan. Will be able to pick back up now.

Crugonk:
Actually, since you have a lance (a reach weapon) and an open square between you and the lion, I didn't see an issue with charging it. It was continuing the movement from the charge that I was worried about. It's a grey area.

Welcome back! :)

Updating Sunday night since there's been little response yet. If Sunday proves to be equally post-less, I'll wait until Monday.

Should we just allow Sat/Sun as extra time if this trend continues?

HP 17/17, AC 18/ 14/ 14, Fort +5, Ref +4, Will +1, CMD 17(18) Damphir Cad 2

I'd rather not, weekends are usually the time I find easiest to post, but if the favored vote is to allow weekends to lull I'll go along.

Weekends are actually the most difficult for me to post. Got one little dude and another on the way.

Well, we'll still strive for a post every two days, but I understand life comes first. Friday to Monday isn't the worst leap for those who can't post on weekends. We'll just see how it goes.

HP 17/17, AC 18/ 14/ 14, Fort +5, Ref +4, Will +1, CMD 17(18) Damphir Cad 2

Wife and two kids on this end here as well, thing is I don't have access to a computer at work so I'm posting evenings and weekends, but as I said, I'll go along with the popular vote.

Male Half-Orc Barbarian 5 (Invulnerable Rager)

Very much enjoying this fight! Pretty epic.

Semi regret giving up uncanny dodge and improved uncanny dodge. :p

DM:
Just one thing. Not seeing a confirmation roll for the crit. Am I missing it?

Jhock:
Jhock, you're right. Apologies. Doing that in-game, now. It was a late post. I just used the first missed shot for the extra damage, and forgot to roll crit confirmation.

Why do I have a feeling that waiting for the manticore to show himself won't be a winning strategy for us in the long-run? So at this point we're just waiting to see if anyone has any anti-invisibility options?

If not, I say we split into groups to move out and sweep the area we think he's in.

Any other thoughts on this?

In-character strategizing, please. :) Talking is a free action.

Oh, no problem. Is there a word-limit you'd like us to respect or someting? I've had DMs who frowned on using too many words as free actions.

Not really. It's a gladiatorial game with subjective time flow. Sort of like when the X-Men and Avengers deliver monologues in combat.

Liberty's Edge

We're a couple days late for an update. Everything ok?

Yeah, sorry, internet connection crappy yesterday and bought a car today. Posting later tonight. Probably around 11pm/12am EST.

Male Goblin Fighter 5

If he survives this, Twang will buy some fancy trick arrows to do things like attach light rope or arrows with light cast on them.

Sooo my computer more or less decided to completely stop working x_X sorry for disappearing..

Welcome back. I've been having some weird issues with my laptop, too.

I bought a new computer(looooooong overdue) so i should be back to responding normally

Update Tuesday night! :)

Alrrriiiiiight I am officially back in action!

Hopefully I haven't made any mistakes with my recent post, climbing is something I very rarely need to do in my games for anything more than 'go up that rope' xD

Updating from a family member's computer.

My laptop finally died, and until I can afford to fix it or replace it, I won't be able to post more than about once a week.

Also, I don't have access to my image files or photoshop until then, so... I will do my best to keep posting, bu there may be a lag for a few weeks. :(

Cool. That's understandable. I'm out of town for the weekend, anyway.

Hope you find a computer solution, man.

We will hold in stasis till then, lol.

Male Goblin Fighter 5

Yeah, this is just a dramatic pause. *smiles*

SORRRY Everyone seems like your doing fine without me but just got swamped by new semester in college

Hey everyone, I have some bad news regarding my computer. I can't afford to replace it at least for a few months, and I have no way to retrieve the information off of it. no files, no photoshop. :P

In a few months I'll try to kick start the game again, but there's no way I can finish this match at this time. And while I can post infrequently from my phone or work/friends' computers, I can't realistically run a game right now.

I am really sorry, and was very much looking forward to this campaign. If any of you are interested i na few months, I'l ltry to start again.

We can just assume that everyone still alive during the last round survives the match, the manticore loses its last 20-something hit points, the fire elementals that were summoned by a trap that the falling ship set off are avoided or dispatched, and someone manages to get to the reset switch (likely Jhock or Cowboy, and another to stand on their shoulders and manipulate the levers).

I hope you all understand. I had to cancel my other campaign, too, and have let the games I'm playing in know that I'll be posting less frequently due to the turn of events.

It was a blast. :)

So sorry to hear that! Totally understand—it was a blast! Best of luck on the quest for a new computer ;)

Yah, that's some tough news. I was enjoying this, but completely understand.

If/when you get a machine back up and running -- and are still interested in running this or a similar game -- just hit us up in this thread or start something else up.

Good luck with your computer stuff. I'm sure you lost more critical info than a photoshop file for an online game.

Male

Sorry to see you go, even if it's only temporary. I hope you get a new comp soon, best of luck and good gaming till then.

Once I can afford to fix/replace the computer I should be able to retrieve everything, it's jus that my screen and keboard no longer respond.

Thanks for being understanding, everyone.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry to hear that. Would you mind marking this campaign as inactive for the time being? Then when/if you're able to start it up again you can reactivate it and it'll let us know you're back in business.
