Hey all...
I was invited by Briccone and can't believe my luck in joining you guys. I am working on converting my character right now but the crunch is a tower shield fighter willing to take the hits and protect everyone else behind him. I can't wait to get going on this AP. hope we all have fun and RL doesn't show up to ruin our fun as I want to make this campaign last for quite some time.
Am I correct that these are the character guidelines still?
CHARACTER CREATION
Level: 1
Race: Any, but clear it with me first. I would vastly prefer the PCs be one of the common or uncommon races in Cheliax. I will NOT accept the alien/sci-fi races without a backstory that is cinema-worthy.
Class: Any official Pathfinder, but I will allow 3PP material on a case-by-case basis, if requested. Again, subject top my discretion.
Max HP per HD
+2 skill points per level, one of which must be used on a social skill (One using CHA), Craft, or Profession
Bonus Feat at 1st level
1 Trait, plus a Campaign Trait, with the option to take a 3rd Trait if a Drawback is also taken
1,000 GP starting gold
Ability Scores: Choose one stat that becomes 18 before modifers, then another which becomes 08 before modifiers, then distribute 16 points amongst the other ability scores (Which are set at 10,) in any way you desire. You may reduce any of the 4 stats by up to -2 to gain a commensurate number of points to distribute amongst the others.

Thanks for the endorsement MannyGoblin. I enjoyed the run with you while it lasted. I agree about Pollux too. Never laughed so hard as I have at some of his posts.
Basic background...
Tal used to work for some nobles doing bodyguard activities earning money to keep him and his wife in a small house yet the necessities of life met. Yet it was dangerous work sometimes and Lily, Tal's wife preferred something else. Tal tried his hand at working with metal and crafting armors but it did not pay as well.
Most of the time, his job is boring and tedious, with only the occasional excuse to break the monotony. The pay is good for the lack of hard work, and only twice has he even been in jeopardy of being injured, once on duty and once off. The first time Tal was minding his own business buying ale at the local pub when a little miscreant tried to rob him of his hard earned wages. Catching the little thief easily Tal was unprepared for the shiv that was inserted in his side by the rogue. Needless to say, by the time the Tal removed the shiv the cutpurse no longer needed it.
Usually one to follow a live a let live lifestyle, that life came to an abrupt halt when he overheard his employer talking to his associates late one night. The talk revolved around some rumors that not all was right by the ‘higher ups’. Who these higher up were Tal never found out, for at that time it was discovered that he was in listening range and the conversation moved further in the mansion. What he heard was enough to peak his curiosity and from then on Tal was always trying to catch a fragmented sentence of what was transpiring around him.
This awareness was intensified whenever his wife was around. Tal protected Lily as much as he could but also understood that he could only do so much for her. The night he was powerless against and the ruling class kept people suppressed. Tal would do anything if it meant that he would be able to provide Lily with a better life and one more at ease.

I am comfortable with keeping the idea of the previous campaign's events having started and passed. It establishes player characters and potential plot hooks. To keep things relevant, I would think it is best to keep it at that, as if the day passed. It is wasteful to retcon good roleplaying.
At any rate, I propose we follow the same general idea; giving us some time to roleplay and get to know one another allows us to ease to the plot at our own pace.
What do you think, GM?

Hi to our new players! Welcome and thank you for your arrival to protect our most valuable asset.
(This is Mera of course) :)

I agree. Those who were at Cato's, everything happened except seeing the figure in the street. Let's assume that you all made it to the Sunken Barrel unmolested. Feel free to rp from there up until you get the note. We will also assume that Cato and Litania depart on the morning of the day that you got the note. After everyone RP's for awhile, we will move the action to Vizio's so then everyone will then be on the same page.

Naberius Belthrune |

I live in Finland (GMT +2), so I'm bound to be a bit off sync with you Americans. My sleep schedule tends to be all over the place, however, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. I'll be able to post at least once a day as well.
I think it would be best if everyone arrives at Vizio's one by one (or as a one group, as the old crew probably would), so everyone has some time to react to everyone before the next guy stumbles in. Naberius will try to be a bit late, in any case. He is paranoid, and doesn't like the idea of leaving people at his back.
Oh, I almost forgot. Mr. GM, would it be possible to use the rest of Naberius' money to buy a partially depleted wand? I'd like him to start out having little to no cash, as his backstory would indicate.

DM RichD |

@Naberius: Partial wand is approved.
@Everyone: You can enter Vizio's alone or together. If you do decide to enter with someone else, feel free to RP how you discover they also got the note. :)
If you all would like me to randomly roll dice to see the order of arrival, let me know.

I'm Maryland, EST like the others.
oh also ...
Monday?: 1d2 ⇒ 2 1 = No, 2 = Yes
Tuesday?: 1d2 ⇒ 2 1 = No, 2 = Yes
Oh... Oh my. That's interesting. :D There's your answer Monday, it was an, uh, productive evening?
EDIT: OOPS! That was supposed to be one for Monday and one for Tuesday!

Mera Wist-Thrune |

Ok there should be something to work with inside of that.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

I copied and pasted my dice string, but forgot to change the name on the second line. Ack! Should have been one for each, corrected!

Tal Bernard Mainz |

If it is ok I would like to make a quick correction to Tal. He is suppose to have A chain shirt not chainmail. I just noticed it now that I selected the wrong one in herolab. Sorry for the edit.

I see that I am confused.
Rising Phoenix, did Mera sleep with Monday?
I do believe that the night spiraled out of control with some alcohol.

That poor, poor alcohol. Everyone always blame him.

Naberius Belthrune |

So, uh... How obviously ghostlike is Tuesday, exactly? Are phantoms incorporeal? I haven't really looked through the Occult Adventures classes yet. I'm having a hard time imagining him fetching Monday breakfast without making the bartender faint, or just walking around town without causing panic. :D
This might also affect how Naberius reacts to the spooky duo, so I'm curious.
Now that I'm at it, I assume Monday is of Varisian heritage? I think Tal and Raveen are Chelaxian, or at least appear to be. Again, might affect how Naberius interacts with them.

![]() |

The description from last time (or at least what I understood) was that Tuesday was a man in all appearances, except that he could shift through walls if he so wished. Raveen's Sense Motive and knowledge checks revealed that he was not all what he appeared to be, and Monday confirmed that he was...sort of not really dead, which spooked Raveen out--more than a little (enough for him to try to move people like Mera away from her until he learned the whole truth--as seen in the previous game).
The description, however, was quite mute, so I suppose we (and the previous GM) did a universal hand-waive.
Good roleplaying opportunity, I say, but very conspicuous and difficult for one to not get the bad idea--especially in Cheliax. And yes, Monday has been described as being quite Varisian in appearance, though Ustalavian to be precise.
Now that I think of it, Naberius and Raveen have quite similar appearances; pale and cool, dark haired men who tie their hair in ponytails. It would be most amusing to see who uses the other as a foil--especially since they are both quite paranoid.
Hah! Though only one is paranoid enough to cross-dress.

Well, at least one of us has the option. Naberius is definitely cursing himself for forgoing illusions as useless frivolity. Little did he think how useful those could be when you're on the run from the law... :P

Phantoms have two modes when fully Manifested, Incorporeal (traditional ghost like) and Ectoplasmic (pretty much appears however the player wants them and what He's in right now. Also solid). Right now he looks ghost like, but he can perfectly interact with the physical world.

Correct, she's Ustalavic Varisian.

You'd have to ask Mera :3
My lips are sealed.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

... or be more a Specter-tator?
Oh man that was rough!

Naberius Belthrune |

I will wait until the GM describes the tavern before making my entrance. Giving the people who are already there time to react and interact, assuming they have reason to. Naberius is fashionably late, as stated. :)

![]() |

Fashionably late and you'll lose all the behavioral clues and subtle hints. Of course, you'll be in better shape if this is all a trap.
Hey, Tal. Are you ok with Raveen flirting with you if he needs a distraction? Don't worry: it's just part of the disguise.

![]() |

As for everything that is going on right now--is there no reaction to Tuesday's incorporeal mode? I've been holding up too many Monty Python jokes--and we all know what the Holy Grail is to D&D players.

Naberius is not very good at reading people, anyway. I kind of assume Janiven will wait until everyone is present before springing her trap. Or, uh... Talking to us. I guess that is a possibility. Regardless, Naberius seems to be the only one here who owns a watch. Ten minutes isn't so long a time that "J" would think I'm not coming. :)

I have a confession to make. I have never seen the Monty Python movies. At my Tabletop game, our DM hasn't seen them either so when the other players inevitably make a reference to one of the movies, we are both like "Huh?"

Trap you say? Who me? DM laughs evilly...
She will wait for everyone especially that Raveen fellow. She was expecting him and some woman shows up! ;)

You can try to flirt with him but good luck. Tal is married and this is a job opportunity for him as well. Business first and fun later.
although with the discussion thread and IC posts I have seen already, Tal may be the 'straight' faced one in the group to set everyone else up for the one liners.
