Kalani doesn't try to move, but seeing as he doesn't have his weapon or shield, attempts to put the nearest bat (red) to sleep with his hex.

He also tries to see if he can figure out how to stop the trap:

Description: This creature is a blackened, bat-winged fiend's head. Tentacles dangle from chin and scalp, and its fanged mouth hangs agape.

The green monster moves out of reach and lets out a shriek.

Shriek (Su) Instead of biting, a XXXXXX can open its distended mouth to shriek. Those within 60 feet who hear the shriek and can clearly see the creature must succeed on a DC 12 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 2d4 rounds or until the monster attacks them, goes out of range, or leaves their sight.

The red monster moves towards Kalani, but its action is dependent on whether or not Kalani makes his save.
