Hahahaa i gotta give our an applause. After 135 ep of GCP, thier rpg and players are really robust. I think this Aeons, GM and players rival that.

Our Aeon's players are amazingly good. Just the Prelude that we all did - even before the first scene of the AP in the jailcells with the Doppleganger was epic. We had super development and great GM work.
Props to all.

GCP is keeping me sane through these terrible dead servers.

I don't remember the episode number, but the bug spy spell in the grain silo?...Troy's bug#1 voice kept me laughing for days.

Exactly Mariner! Troy's Bug voices were awesome. I really did like that part. I'm working on Androids and Aliens - caught up to current episode. and 10 episodes behind in the Azlanti module.

I am on episode 62 now. Seems the I only was able to make it through 3 episodes on the 18 hour flight. Didn't help they kept us up for 48 hours before putting us on... I was looking forward to a binge.

I am at the Seer's prophecies from Book 2 now. The same Seer these yahoos drowned when they inadvertently flooded the orc camps with the river :).

What seer? :)

Wren didn't see no one. (Or care about seeing them, probably. That's one of the cool things about the podcast...hitting some of the backstory that we missed on our run because we are yahoos and dwarves and yahoos 'n stuff.)

That's right - you guys are playing the AP - I forgot!

In this other reality with completely different heroes, that spear completely nailed a dude. Nicely played.

Great post Mariner. Very well said and you looped back to a previous encounter with the Remnant (?) Bravo.

Cats will draw his elven curveblade and cut off Risi’s head.

I am placing this reminder in the Discussion section as BB will NOT want to forget to grab stuff to sell for more healing wands.

If we survive this Manor, Brother Butterfly is making some mental notes on items to pick up and review on the main compound. Items that we are currently passing and have not claimed.

Detect Magic through out all the room.

Room: E10 – Check for traps and grab and open the Large Padlocked Trunk.
Room: E13 Check room and especially the Quilt and Writing Desk. I’d like to desecrate/consecrate the makeshift shrine. Check out box on the shelf.

Room: E14- grab ledgers for Cresencia to go over and review.
Room: E-16: Check for traps and ransack the trunks in this room
Room: F2- Grab the silverware and porcelain dishes to sell. BB will appraise.

+1.

When this all happens, Cats will secretly abscond with the picture of Risi from that one room. There will be crying at some point. Alone and crying, but there will be crying.

But, I am interested in how their story runs.

Agree!

Oh wow! They are doing a whole lot at once each week. Hope they don't stretch themselves to thin and burn out.

That being said I am looking forward to it. :)

I thought the same thing. These guys have wives, girlfriend, jobs. That's a lot of time commitment.

Just for fun, what back up character would you make for this game? Gonna have to think about this - oh the choices.

Oh, I know! I would cat a dysphasically stunted rogue/pally/monk/ranger cross class who can't decide to be melee or ranged.

Wait. That's a colossally stupid idea. I want to cat something else.

I overheard them mention a character that one of them played before. It was a drug dealer. I want to mimic that and will be my next character for a game.

I would go with alchemist with bomb focus; the idea of blowing up everything cthulu sounds like a great time.

You are caught up! Amazing! Now comes the letdown where you can't binge-listen!

I find myself amazed at how entertaining the stories and their roleplaying is/can be. They put on a good show, frustrating at times, but because I also know the rules and things I feel as if I am playing along.

Yes, I'm preparing myself for the letdown of 3 back to back sessions. I'm going to join the Patreon and listen to their other stuff. Also found some other popular PBP play by podcast? channels that have large followings - I'll probably be disappointed.

They put on a great show, I suddenly realized that when I sat down at a tabletop game after a lengthy break, and felt - Huh - this is not as thrilling as GCP Giantslayer. Half the players were drunk or high on marijuana cookies, most roleplaying limited to "I kill them."

Ayep. This is why I rarely can play cat to face anymore and mostly only play PbP. I can’t handle all the side talk and distractions and lack of RP. PbP has ruined me for face to face, pretty much, which is weird because I used to love it. Heck, I started one of the biggest Pathfinder Catmunities in the world (Bay Area Pathfinder Society) and ran some of the biggest PFS catventions at the time (KublaCon), but now just can’t handle it.

Weird.

Weird. and sad.

It's a fresh wound, especially with close friends. So it's going to be two modes in the future that I'll have to come to terms with -- 'shoot the $hit with best friends while rolling dice' and 'get my rpg somewhere else'. I cat ya.

I've also come to experience and settled that PFS Scenarios lack the free flow of true rpg experience. They are very regimented and mechanical, even if one can Painlord Guide to the T, it's like the Matrix - "You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up."

AP on the other hand, seems to give the more freedom to live the character.

KublaCon - really?! +1

Nice! I wish I was in an area that did a bit more. It took me years to find Play-by-Post here. I had the beginners box sitting on a shelf for probably 2 years. After about another year of searching and about 6 months of learning how exactly to do this with rules and I finally got going.

Though you all are probably right that the PbP RP element probably set the bar too high for a face to face table.

I am planning on attending Paizocon though this May, so we will see.

Woot! (do people still say that? pwn'ed)

BBs fascination of doors is almost rivaled by Cats fascination with heads. Aside from Risi in the bag, there is this

Sorry, I'm pulling the conversation of sleep off to the side discussion board.
I do like resolving these items "in character" , but with that said I have a few Out of Character thoughts.

I am torn about whether to sleep and replenish spells or not. Here's my thoughts in order of importance, and some of these side toward adventuring on and some point towards sleeping.
#1: We are all exceptional players. I have little doubt that we steamroll this endgame/endboss with sleep and full spells. I am hard pressed to think of two or three other players I have ever played with that are as good or better roleplayers/strategists than this group of 4 + GM Rah.
As a Player, I prefer the pure challenge and thrill of going at this head on- while weak and hurt - because I know I have 3 great players and tacticians sharing/carrying the load.

#2: I am okay with my character dying, especially if it makes a great story or is a part of a great story arc. Or, if I play and screw up and my guy dies. My bad, and I accept it and move on.
BUT, I am not okay with pushing a party decision to put YOUR characters at risk.

#3: We are all beat up. GM Tyranius has been playing a character with mental powers that has been without mental powers for probably 6 pages of story. That's probably not fun for him, and I get it. Cat's is negative 2 levels and out of abilities. I am fully out of spells and at a negative level. The only positive is that we are at full hitpoints.

#4: Brother Butterfly is not okay with dying. As a PC, I already cited in #2 that I was okay with my character dying. But, in character, BB is all about self-preservation. He's only going after the hostages because his deity is pushing him too. He won't fight Cat's demand for sleep now that we have a defensive chokepoint. Even if the magically appearing cat attacks while we are resting. BB's at the best he will be to survive that fight.
#5: We got Bottlecaps and magic items from the GM for continuing the raid on the manor. I feel guilty for having them, and will turn in my bottlecap if we do end up resting.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Again, in character, BB will agree with Cats to rest. Jasper's opinion and desire is to survive and gain acclaim.

Great post Corbin. I like that this is a tough decision.

I don’t want to push for any particular plan, but if any of you have questions, I might be able to answer them.

It’s a good post, Brother.

One thing you missed, probably because it wasn’t too clear, is that there is a third option: we spend a few hours re-searching the attic and main house. We just need to get to ‘morning’ wherein Cats and ButterCatterfly can pray for spells and renewal of powers.

You see, unlike some halflings, we’re not arcane casters and just need to pray at our usual times to be renewed. Sure, it doesn’t help Catless, but he has that wand.

I’m not saying that’s the best option, but another option that is halfway between resting and not-resting. At least we’d have spells and smites to save our bacon.

Cats is fine with being heroically stupid, but he thinks he’s done enough and is now on fumes. Can’t win wars on fumes. Unless you have a blimp army and those fumes are keeping your blimps afloat, I guess. I dunno. I”m not too versed on blimp warfare.

While Fearless has been running on empty for quite a while as long as we are roleplaying I am having fun :).

This is an extreme circumstance that completely matches no sleep as the captives may not survive. They were taken in retaliation to our attack and could more than likely be killed in retaliation.

I am completely fine with a character dying as that is a part of the game and helps build on character development.

Plus Fearless still has plenty of charges on his wand.

Waiting for Mariner to give his voice. I did like Cat's research that it has been a full NINE pages of storyline just to cover one day in this AP.

BTW, Fearless has a ring that lets him operate off less sleep. A ring of sustenance. That means he only needs 2 hours of sleep to "possibly" regain his mental powers. Would giving Fearless a 2 hour nap be a middle ground for the group to press on?

Fort DC15 vs fatigue, day 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
day 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
day 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
day 4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

The Mariner can go for several days without sleep - total Catatonic and keep moving like a headless bug. He can probably take the whole night's watch in fact.

I'm sensing that:
Fearless votes keep going.
Brother vote keep going.
Cats votes sleep. Wait a minute, wasn't Cats the one that got us all riled up, and Fearless wanted to not?

Boiled down, the Mariner thinks it would be a weird turn to run after the kidnapped then take a long nap mid-pursuit. Vote keep going. That's why Rah gave us bottle caps, right?

Acrobatics: +11. Disable: +20. Perception: +14. Sleight+12/Stealth +16. F12/R17/W9. Seeker of Redemption 10

I like this debate.

I’m not making any decisions based on bottle caps...seems like those are just a trick by GM Rah to get us to die. Well, this cat ain’t falling for it.

BB, with the 2 hour sleep option, you’ve actually offering a 2nd midpoint.

Options:
1) Press on as is.
2) A 2 hour rest for Catless to recover his s~&& only.
3) A 4 or 5 hour rest to allow BB, Catless, & Cats to recover their dailies and spells.
4) A full rest in a nice comfy manor bed. We all recover *and* Cats/BB might lose a neg level.

I’m pushing for option #3 or #4, but would also do #1. Won’t do #2 because f!%* halflings, obv.

Hehe. In character Fearless would vote #1 as he truly believes the hostages were taken to kill immediately.
