Meh. I'm always for 'free' feats, but feel they should be focused around RP and storytelling rather than combat focused...so feats like Cosmopolitan or any of the Story feats (which still need to be earned, but freely taken when so, or whatever) are much more in balance, imho.


These three feats are basic, and fairly boring, feats - but they are gateways to other, and in my opinion, more interesting feats. The idea is that by giving these feats for free it allows players more flexibility to take other feats (like Cosmopolitan or other social feats) that they otherwise might not normally choose.

Deadly Aim and Power Attack are usual "always available" feats in several games, but I think Combat Reflexes falls into a more specialized area as most builds don't take that feat unless you are using reach weapons or have some other methods to get AoOs.

Regarding HPs. I'll allow you to choose. Roll or PFS method, but once you've chosen that is your method for every level.

Incorporating crazy into this campaign has been a gift that keeps giving.

On a side note, somewhat related: I watched the premiere of the new TV series Legion the other day. The main character being a crazy person with mutant powers is a fun concept to watch, and offers many new ways of telling a story. I highly suggest it.

On a side note, not related: I also finally watched Drive. If Ryan Gosling's performance in that is any indication of his potential I think he's going to be great in Blade Runner 2. Drive is a film with a pretty cliche and boring premise (a getaway driver who falls for the girl), but Gosling's performance pushes it into something worth watching.

None of the ink is dry yet, however I should be receiving the final draft of the contract this week. I will be an assistant professor at one of (if not 'the') top private law schools in India. It's not much money in American terms, however, with the difference in cost of living, the money will stretch well in New Delhi. Also, they pay for a lot of the basics like housing and healthcare, which is great! :D

As for the luck roll, I didn't see the second roll. that's why I mentioned it. If you "got a benefit" then it's only good for one round.

Quick Aside: I don't think Cats is still terrified. The last GM summary shows Cats and The Twins no longer under a Fear effect. BB still is (round 3/3), that's why I ran around the table.

It made me laugh. I was actually having some good dice rolls this combat. The Fear effect was unfortunate, but everyone else in this party REALLY needs to shame their dice. They have just been horrible.

I was going to post that this combat has been pretty intense. It's lasted like 12 rounds?! Against rats/ ratlings - I would never have imagined.

For example: I am out of healing (except scrolls and potions) and two of us are bleeding!


Cats was feared for 2 rounds. This was his second round. I just forgot to note it in the initiative block.

Healer advice: don't use up all your healing unless someone is actually near death (near 0 or at negative HP). In this fight a PC only dropped below half once.

PS - Bleeding can be stopped with heal skill check vs DC 15.


I have an urgent afk until tomorrow, GM please bot meanwhile

Wow Mariner, your rolls are beyond belief. I really think you have had horrific luck. I think we all have had bad rolls, but YOUR rolls the last 2 combats are something else.

Gah! These encounters have been brutal.

4 ratlings? That's a CR6? CR8 encounter? We handled it pretty well, considering. And then another 2 ratlings plus dire rats? That's another C4+. Each rat swarm on it's own is a CR2...let alone the spellcasting of the ratlings. Pretty brutal.

We're doing fine enough, but our resources are getting plenty drained.

I know we got this, but we're bleeding for every inch.

The CR isn't as high as you might think, and would seem a lot lower had you supplied yourself with some splash weapons and a dice roller capable of rolling higher then 5.

That said, if I don't scare the pants off all of you early then this adventure path won't be scary enough. :)

I think we have things in hand. I don't think these encounters are really that tough. We have just rolled terrible.
I swear, if I had rolled a 6 for a heal, I wouldn't have to spend 2 more healing rounds just keeping us alive. I'd be able to cast luck and give the hitters a second chance to hit - and to save vs. Fear.

The swarms don't seem to have a ton of HP's, we just hit them with arrows and daggers. My Mace does full damage, but he's not meant to be an attacker.

Yeah and no, but the maths are the maths. I'm not arguing that it shouldn't be hard, but that we are struggling for good reason. We're also a party of 6, so it makes sense that our CR combats would be a bit tougher.

So 4 CR2s are a CR6 encounter, in theory and that we don't have, nor have had an opportunity to purchase splash weapons is a factor (like our bad dice), but all in all, these have been tough.

Not sure how we got by the eye. I musta blinked.

I don't think Cats has any magic items. We need to spread this around a bit more. Cats, anything I have that you want? Or can I give an item to another character to free up your item ? I'm loaded, but most of these are cleric items.. so obviously given to me.

I gave Sun rod and Broach of Shielding to Cats on the Loot list. Better to be allocated than unassigned and useless. If anyone disagrees, we can maybe do that in character.

I've messaged our illustrious and wonderful GM, but I figure that I'll make a post here.

Recently, I have been lax in posting properly. Most of my games have lost their appeal to me and it makes logging on feel like work instead of like fun. In the end, I've decided to finish out any games that will be ending soon and end about half of the remaining games.

I really enjoy this game, but this is a several year long commitment and I think that leaving now would be better than fading out over the long term with poor post rates and subpar posts.
