I am in the Pacific Time Zone, but have an everchanging schedule, but 9 days out of 10 I can post numerous times... the 10th just 1 or 3

Hello,

I know I am probably right on top of the deadline, but still I would like to throw Reknar into the mix - he suffers from an ailment of mine - I am a sucker for the Fighter Class, so I am taking another go at it, and throwing the poor fella right to the frontline :D

He was built in applying to another Wrath of the Righteous Game, so the background has been built for that specifically.

I hope I am still on time to submit him for this - yep, I know he is not a paladin or any other kind of Divine implement of destruction, but who knows where he can get to? :D

Any questions regarding my expected plan to develop the guy are welcome (if there is still time).

My Time Zone is GMT(Greenwich Mean Time) - I have played several other PbPs and posting times have never been an issue.

Eastern US time zone. Posting times vary based on family and work schedule.

And here is our evocation specialist wizard Shaethila

BAckground Story:
Shaethila can remember, not so long ago by elven standards. A time when the worldwound had not even existed. A time in her childhood where no one feared cultists, demons, or evil beasts who sought sustenance in elven souls.

She cna also remember the fires, the fear, and every death of every family member and friend since then. Exiled from their village, and forced to live among humans and worse her family has adapted the best they can.

It's difficult to understand elven sensibilities on the subject of the worldwound. For them the event is fresh in their mind as if it happened yesterday. This is why it exasperates Shaethila when dealing with people who've walk around as if the worldwound has always been.

For her part Shaethila is an intelligent if soemtimes callous and coldly logical woman who takes the worldwound adn its demons very seriously and particularly personal. Her mother and brother died in the intial invasion and since then she has lost a number of family members to the numerous crusades. This has resulted in a violent temperament that manifests itself in her magic, which crackles with raw destructive power . Far from subtle she rather enjoys inflicting a terrible fate on her foes rather than use more subtle arts to merely help her allies.

Still for all this she is a generally compassionate elf who all too well understands the fragility of life and the necessity in protecting it. While redemption in any form confuses her (redemption for evil men won't bring her family back but their deaths will certainly prevent more from happening) she's unlikely to stand in the way of those who wish to make a name for themselves for that cause. Still, she is more than happy to step in should they fail and let treachery meet her flames firsthand.

Changing the name of my character from Neji to Neltji for profile reasons. Had Neltji as a character in a game that didn't pan out all the way so i hope you dont mind. I am in the central time zone.

FYI, I am in a game that Tark is running. I must say, it would be interesting to actually be on the same side as him instead of him trying to kill my tower shield specialist all the time.

Good luck everone.

Well, spit. Was gonna try and re-submit because my stuff itl cleared up suddenly. Good luck to you all!

You still have a day or so, Phillip. It's only the fourteenth PST.

Just bought Mythic Adventures AND the Demon Hunter's Handbook PDFs. Haven't gotten a chance to actually look at them yet, of course, but I've bought them.

My wizard is complete. If you have any questions please ask. I hope you like my creation.

In the end I chose to take an AP trait - as a wizard it had to be Riftwarden Orphan with Associated Mythic Path: Archmage. The ability, +2 to concentration checks, is not at all bad, but certainly is not more powerful than normal traits, as the book seems to say the AP traits are. In fact it duplicates the Focused Mind trait from the Advanced Player's Guide.

Taking the trait gave me something more to write around and anchored me as a citizen of Kenabres.

Jealous face at the handbook motteditor.

Phillip0614 there is approx. 22 hrs left in recruitment.

But I am debating closing early if there doesn't seem to be any other interested applicants to give myself a little more time to review.

I'll throw Lucius, my Infernal-blooded sorcerer into the ring. The alias already exists from a previous PbP that petered out, and the 'thinks he's Asmodeus's child' thing actually might work really well for Mythic.

I'll redo the stat block if I am accepted, but the basic idea would be a sorcerer who acts a rather lot like a cleric, right down to using infernal healing to patch up holes in people. His reason for being at the Worldwound is similar to the reason in the profile for the Legacy of Fire campaign: he's not exactly on proper terms with Chelaxian clergy, so he's been sent on a dangerous/faraway mission to do something the church believes in but hasn't much bothered with. So they send him to fight demons.

A fully rational person might just give up claiming divine parentage, but hey, when you're Asmodeus's son, surely a few demons won't be a problem, right?

Alignment is LN probably trending toward LE as the campaign continues.

I'm taking this as Ross' humor :)

Surely my father can best theirs.

Point taken Ross...err Lucius :)

My only caveat for Lucius would be to be open to redemption.

Just got mythic adventures so updating character now.

Are we allowed to pick our own flaws or no?

Best as I can tell, with the rule set we are using Infernal Healing will not be allowed. At least when I choose that rule set in Herolab that spell falls off.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Hrmm. I suppose you're right. That's fine: the character concept still works even if I can't heal. It just means I can't do fun things like out-heal the Cleric of Sarenrae like in Lucius's original PbP.

And infernal healing is not a great emergency healing spell, so it doesn't get rid of the need for an actual divine caster anyway.

As far as redemption goes, I was thinking of taking the Beyond Morality mythic power.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

For Flaws, I think Hubris fits right in with Lucius.

Alternatively, since the Touched by Divinity trait says that the deity visits in dreams, Mercurial Mind also works, making Lucius a bit more delusional schizophrenic instead of just delusions of grandeur.

Varnus, I haven't decided yet (since my Mythic Campaign book is shipping) how I am doing flaws. I also need to take a close look at how the AP is giving that first mythic rank. It might make sense that you all know your flaws, that some of you do and some don't, or that none of you know.

Ross, can you put what that power is here...I don't have my book yet :)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I'm not Ross, but...

Beyond Morality (Ex): You have no alignment. You can become a member of any class, even one with an alignment requirement, and can never lose your membership because of a change in alignment. If you violate the code of ethics of any of your classes, you might still lose access to certain features of such classes, subject to GM discretion. Attempts to detect your alignment don’t return any results. If a class restricts you from casting spells with an alignment descriptor, you can cast such spells without restrictions or repercussions. If you’re the target of a spell or effect that is based on alignment, you’re treated as the most favorable alignment when determining the spell’s effect on you. Any effects that alter alignment have no effect on you. If you lose this effect, you revert to your previous alignment.

If your book is shipping, you should be able to download the PDF, no?

Good luck all. Headed to bed and likely will not check in before the selection process is well under way.

I hope you haven't closed yet. Unfortunately, I lost six hours last night when Adobe Illustrator crashed while saving. Fortunately, I think the character history is stronger for the rewrite.

Ravana is a human druid. Both her character history and personality are tied strongly to the region, both in the Mendev and the Worldwound. She's a bit of a long read, and for that I apologize, but I tried to be thorough.

She can be found here.

Wow. Now *that* is the most impressive PBP application I've ever seen.

Is that your art?

Wow. I am just seriously impressed.

*Christ* are you just into making us all look bad?

I am speechless.

GMT-3

I don't have a subscription for the Mythic Campaign book...I only pre-ordered it. So no pdf unless I pay the extra $10.

Ravana...wow. My only question is that I didn't see what spells you'd chosen.

Sotharal bowed her head.
Ravana, truly she is either divine or destined to become a goddess, for that is incredible.

This is a good problem to have!

I'm going to run 2 games for this. 2 games of 5 players. I've got too many stories from these submissions that I want to see play out :)

There's still time, but selection is wrapping up in my head/spreadsheet.

All, there are a bunch of great submissions which is ultimately why I chose to run 2 games. I wish I had the time to run 3.

Two games is goooood = increased chances to get picked [hopefully :D]

Though they will wear on ya, will they not?

I have been feeling the pull to GM on the forums again lately, but I'll admit it up front, the last time I tried, I got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of responses alone, and that was during Recruitment only...

Anyways, the veteran soldier remains calm, taking in his surroundings as he slowly downs his ale.

Reknar you are right...it can be taxing. But I've found that with enough forward planning that it isn't terrible. That said...this sort of thing is going to be a long term forum game so there will be periods of outages and such on both the GM side and the player side. That's something to remember when GMing on the forums...in long term games it's OK if you need a couple days or a week break even, as long as you communicate with the players.

As far as feeling the itch, DO IT! There are far more players than GM's and the GM's I know are more than happy to lend a helping hand to fellows. I would be happy to share any resources I have that you don't.

***EDIT***

Resources such as google drive map setups and the like...not sharing resources like books and such that are illegal to share :)

What the hell, I'll throw in for maybe a chance to be selected. This is a character specifically designed for WoTR, but he doesn't use a campaign trait because none of them really fit.

Appearance:
Wearing battered armor and a worn but tidy uniform, with coloration that marks him as being of Kellid ancestry, this corpulent man has a full beard, a loud, boisterous laugh, and a grim countenance when angered. His round belly belies his unusual strength, and his weather-beaten face shows his long soldier's experience.

History:
He's seen hundreds of eager young soldiers and paladins arrive in Mendev to battle the worldwound, and has had to write nearly as many "We sincerely regret to inform you" letters. He lied about his age to join the army before he had to shave on a daily basis, and made corporal in approximately 15 minutes (it would have been faster, but he had to visit the jakes). After a year and several catastrophic battles in which he was twice the sole survivor of his company, the officers noticed and briefly considered offering him a commission, before it was determined that he had not a drop of noble blood in his body. Therefore, they made him a Sergeant, and a Sergeant he has been for nearly a decade. He's guided paladins and clerics of dozens of different faiths to their battlefields, but not before asking them to teach him their prayer of last rites. He doesn't have any particular faith himself, although he's rather glad the gods do exist and aren't just abandoning Golarion to the Abyss.

Sarge is an experienced soldier, and like many he's pretty cynical and focused on survival of himself and the other soldiers he serves with. He's Neutral, leaning towards good, because while he certainly wants the Worldwound to end and the demons to be defeated, and is willing to fight for it, and even maybe to die for it, his main motivation in doing so is to make sure no other soldiers have to die fighting the demons.

He will not abandon the party even if it looks like he might die, because his sense of honor and duty is to his mates above all else.

Two games:)
So...much...suspense...!

Wow. That PDF is amazing. I'm not even willing to do the work to make a statblock without a game.

Someone get that person a job at Paizo as a freelancer.

Except for the fact that they are in process of becoming a DOCTOR!

DM Pendin Fust wrote:

Ravana...wow. My only question is that I didn't see what spells you'd chosen.

I did not choose spells because Druids get access to all of them and I will probably change them day by day. I will mostly stick to heals and buffs.

I did not choose equipment because that usually takes me about an hour and I was in a hurry after my crash the night before. I kind of panicked when I saw you were thinking of closing early. If selected, I will stick with the obvious purchases of armor and barding for my companion. I may get the scythe, I haven't decided yet.

The art is not mine. I always make characters the same and if you look at my aliases, you will see them all in recruitment threads.

Spoiler:
1. I read what the DM is looking for and see if it sparks an idea. If not, I do not apply unless it's a Ravenloft game. I apply for those by default.

2. I read up on the setting. In this case I turned to the Inner Sea World Guide for the Worldwound and Mendev and the Green Order, then the Player's Guide.

3. I go to google images and begin looking for my character. This is the most time intensive part of the process as I always try to find multiple pictures by the same artist so that my theme stays the same. I now have a pretty good collection of images on my hard drive and sometimes I return to those. In this case, this is a character from the game Hordes by Privateer Press. I've never played Hordes but I did play Iron Kingdoms, so I knew I would like their art.

4. Now that I can see my character, I begin to build it. I usually at least partially build it in three or four classes to see which best matches my vision. I looked at Inquisitor, Druid, Ranger and Barbarian for Ravana. It was hard to settle on druid as she is a straight melee character but in the end, I really wanted her to grow horns.

5. I begin to write my character history. I usually end up with something rather different than what I initially imagined and so rebuild the character as I think the history is the most important part.

6. I make the packet, trying to include all the information the DM could want, at his fingertips. I therefore take some information from the rulebooks or world guides, quoting where possible. DM VOV has gotten me in the habit of listing my inspirations, so I do that now as well. This is actually the easiest part of the process with the only really difficult part being if I decide to modify the art drastically.

7. I submit the character. I get chosen for about one third of my submissions because I like to create unique characters. Sometimes they don't fit either with the AP or the DMs vision. This is the second character I have submitted for WotR and I am currently making one more.

I never submit the same character to different games. If a character is not selected, I put it on my hard drive and figure I might use it one day.

The whole process takes about twenty hours although some take more and others less. My most difficult was Hilde as DM VOV wanted our character histories written in the style of viking sagas with kennings. She's also my hardest character to play as she only speaks in rhyme.

So that's how I do it. I like making characters and it's almost always worth it. My only disappointment is really when DMs disappear. Of the dozen characters I've made, only one game is still running and that can be rather disappointing.

It is time!

Group B, your threads are here. Please post in the discussion thread (that's where the link takes you to.)

Woot!

Liberty's Edge

Thank you for selecting my Paladin DM Pendin Fust! I look forward to playing with everyone else and my condolences to those who didn't get picked. Hopefully all your characters will find a home soon. As I imagine there will be plenty of Wrath of the Righteous games popping up in the weeks to come :)

Off to the game!

Congratulations to those selected!

Hmmm . . .. Time to make an alias!

I hope everyone finds a game to enjoy. This is SUPPOSED to be about having fun, right?

Liberty's Edge

I have a Storm Druid that can heal but is not geared specifically towards healing, though is a caster druid. I made him for another game but it never got started. I think it fits the requirements. it's this current character.
