Congrats to you both! I bet you're very glad to have it all done, and to have done well.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Thank you all, I am sorry for not posting in a while I have been making the change over to Homicide and Refinancing my house but all is good and I will have a post up later today after I catch up on reading the others posts. again thanks.

Doran Tidewrack |

So, do I treat the new magical weapon Doran just found as a magical dagger or a magical kukri? Doran isn't proficient with a kukri.

Doran Tidewrack |

Great, glad to hear it. As you say, Knife Master does work with the kukri, but the character has to have kukri proficiency for it to apply.

Doran Tidewrack |

Funny, Sigz. Though I'm glad it resized for Doran. Would have made him very envious to have that knife in the party and too big for him to use. Hmm, don't they call jealousy/envy the "green-eyed monster"? Maybe that should play into the name for Doran's new dagger, since the fanged creature on the hilt has green eyes.
Envy has a nice ring to it.

Doran Tidewrack |

Rats! It was such a good idea, too.
I'm wondering if Doran might be able to blend in with the halflings working on the dock and learn a bit, maybe enlist a few to join us. But he might stand out if he's armed...

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

The PCs haven’t seen the Empty Lighthouse since we were given to Capt. Barnabas Harrigan and held on the Wormwood, right? I think I confused the ships together for my last post. We expected to see the Wormwood in port, didn’t we?

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

Are there other ships in the port? More directly, is the Wormwood there? I think I also got confused the places Port Peril and Rickety Squibb's. How far away is Port Peril to Rickety Squibb’s? Since the Man’s Promise is overdue to meet the Wormwood in Port Peril we should be on the lookout for Harrigan (as probably everyone else but me knows. Honestly, I feel stupid.)
Please ignore what Vrunyar’s last post ended with.
Oh I did some reading of past posts to find out how we knew the Empty Lighthouse was here. Plugg told us.

Doran Tidewrack |

No cause to feel stupid, Vrun, I was right there with you when you started suggesting we enlist crew members we knew, and I wouldn't have been able to tell you which ship we were after off the top of my head. We had a pretty long dormant spell there, I lost a lot of details.
Now that we know what's what, shall we make a plan? Aaron and Doran could try to worm their way in a bit, Doran posing as a slave (with knives hidden per Barcas' excellent suggestion) and Aaron just taking advantage of no one in town knowing him. Maybe we can line up a few helping hands or just get the lay of the land that way. Not sure what we do after that, however.
Any genius ideas?

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

How neutral is the place? If we need repairs later, don’t we want to be on good terms?
Another idea I had, but don’t feel like suggesting it IC since Vrun already suggested a fire, is to have one of us (with a good bluff score) stumble into the “port” and flash the gems around claiming he needs help to claim the rest of the treasure he found. He leads a few men out into the jungle and we ambush them. It'd make the odds slightly better if we do need to escape from Rickety Squibbs, but I imagine the numbers are already a bit too high to fight our way through, even if five or six men were ambushed.

Squibbs is in the middle of nowhere. I think it would be very suspicious if Aaron was just to wander in from the jungle with a halfling in tow and try to sell him off. Just a thought.

Ollivor Myles |

Apologies to all...
another of my aunts has died (many siblings all in their twilight years now so I suppose it shouldn't surprise though it is grim) and the visitation is one night the funeral another day so between that and the driving to it, well, just feel free to bot Ollivor if needed. I should be posting again Sunday night, monday at the latest

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

As I was writing my post (first with alchemist’s fire) I reread the crafting rules (that's why in my post I say it's not alchemical fire). Can someone tell me where my math (or reasoning) is wrong. To craft something over the course of a week, you take the price in silver and compare it to the craft check x the item’s DC. If this product beats the price in silver, success! If it’s double, you’re done in half the time; triple a third of the time. Now alchemist’s fire is 200 sp. the DC is 20. Vrunyar only needs a 10 to craft the alchemist’s fire over the course of a week. Not bad since he has a +9 Craft (alchemy). To do it in one day, the product of the craft check and the DC gets divided by 7, the number of days in the week. That makes sense. However the craft check roll is essentially impossible. It needs to be 70, because (70x20)/7 = 200. Where’s my error? Has this been addressed in the forums?

Doran Tidewrack |

Glad to hear it, Barcas. I look forward to some smooth sailing and regular posts, to see where the story takes us.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Sorry for the long absence, I am just now settling into Homicide and getting caught up on my cases so I should be able to post more frequently.
My belated condolences Ollivor.
Congrats again Barcas on the promotion and getting your first option on training locations.

DM Barca's, is the area we are fighting in meet the requirements for the entangle spell?

Doran Tidewrack |

Vrunyar- don't forget Inspire Courage is up. It'll add 3 points of damage thanks to your crit!

Thorn Syndergaard |

Hey Barcus, My AC was 20 the last time Guard#1 attacked with his cutlass , Guard#2 fell and I lost crowd control which causes it to drop by 1 down to 19. The last attack would be a miss, or am I adding something wrong again. If the attack is good, then the 5 damage would put Thorn at -2

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

I had Thorn at −2 hp as well. I don’t mind if he's at 0 though ;)
Not that big of a deal, but I wondered if Vrunyar might know that Aaron needs inflict wounds to heal. Shortly after they first met, Aaron was going to discard an empty vial. Vrunyar claimed it. At the time I wanted to ask if Vrunyar could do a knowledge (arcana) or craft (alchemy) to see if he could identify what the potion was. I realize a drop or two isn’t much to go on, but it’s a fantasy.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Sorry, I was tired last night and did not see the 24, I only observed the 18 in parentheses on the roll not the bonus included, that's my mistake. Either way I will get a post up later for sure now that I have had some sleep.

Doran Tidewrack |

FYI - I'll be at a local con starting tonight through the weekend, so my posting will be minimal to nonexistent for that time.

Thorn Syndergaard |

So What is the plan, How many people can Vrunyar heal in 1 minute, Do we take the Lighthouse or Stay and keep the Town. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

Doran Tidewrack |

Doran can heal some also, and both John and Doran can use the wand of CLW. Doran is about to give Aaron his version of a potion of CMW, which should help him a lot.
Then I think we need to take the ship and get out of here, taking the town does us no good.

DM Barcas |

I should have made that guy tougher. Single opponent fights are tough to get right. Make them too tough and they'll wipe the floor with the PCs. Make them not tough enough and it's over immediately. Rolling a 1 on Initiative hurt him a lot, though - basically had 12 actions before his second action.
