Yes, or at least a better sense of what we know/are aware of.
Right now, the insurgent slaves are on the Hellsmouth, taking over. They would largely be focused on that and chaos would prevent them from noticing what's going on on the Lighthouse. Wynifrid is also worried about being sure Thorn doesn't make good on his threat and try to sink they Hellsmouth while they're still on it, so she's a bit distracted by that.
The captives on the Lighthouse are likewise beaten and may not notice what's going on on the Hellsmouth yet.
What would make sense TO ME--but I don't know where you see this going, and I do not want to god-mode your NPCs--is to have the Cheliaxans try to bring the Lighthouse captives back to the Hellsmouth, and then both the Cheliaxans have noticed things have turned south, and we as the slaves can notice the Cheliaxans returning, we can attack them, and free the captives.
Alternately, we can have finished taking over the Hellsmouth and notice what's going on on the Lighthouse and start taking pot-shots at the leader of the boarding party, but the description as posted implied we weren't done yet.
On another note, can Wyn have looted a shield off a Cheliaxan so she has something to defend herself with?
Thanks.

Got a spot of bad news to share. I've got to have surgery next Friday to remove a mass from my thyroid that is probably cancer. There's almost no risk and almost no side effects, but I will be out of commission for a few weeks. This is actually good for the game, because I'll have a lot of free time where I'll be posting multiple times a day.
I've been getting hammered by the summer busy season for murder, which is why I've been so scarce lately.

I'm very sorry to hear that Isaac! I'm glad that the risk is very low however.

Wynifrid |

Do we have a map of the ships? Or where is the second deck of the Hellsmouth? I was thinking I might try to push the guard over a railing if it's a deck below the top--a lot of ships have open decks or at least holes that lead to staircases that are unpleasant to tumble down--or if there is exposure to the sides of the boat, try to push him off.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Wyn, just a heads up, one of my characters three goals is to sink this ship! I figure with Thorn's history with this ship and its crew he will try to sink or destroy it every chance he gets, no matter the cost.

Wynifrid |

Thorn, for the guard, we both have a Stealth bonus of +1. If we're going to initiate combat--which, mind, may be our best option--we may as well just charge the guy, to get the best bonus to damage. I'd say what we do is initiate the attack--we should have the surprise round regardless--and charge on the same initiative (mechanically whoever's is highest delays to act simultaneously with the other) and hopefully if not take him down in one blow. He'll be flat-footed which'd help. If you're cool with that let me know and we can post our rolls. Wyn would signal Thorn with a look as to charging the guy.
As for sinking the ship, Wyn doesn't mind sinking the ship as long as they are sure everyone has somewhere else to go. Wyn is not going to let Thorn do something that would result in the death of her, him, or their fellow captives. The way the scene's been set, Wyn is afraid Thorn is going to try to sink the ship with everyone still on it, including them, and THAT is what she is worried about. I am not a fan of PVP but Wyn would attack Thorn if she thought he was endangering her or their allies. However, IF they manage to secure safety aboard the Lighthouse or other boat, she doesn't care what he tries to do. She may not help him, however, if she feels the risk isn't worth the cost. If they have nowhere to go, she would want to take over the Hellsmouth as their own ship, simply for convenience sake. She has no grudge against the ship; it's her captors (and the man who sold her) she preserves her anger for.
As for "me having a leash on you" -- as far as I'm concerned, you can do as you like. I fervently do not believe in or approve of god-moding anyone else's characters, PC or NPC (which are the GM's characters). You have utter control over your own character, and you should never assume mine is forcing you to do anything unless you consent to that or we are in a situation where the dice determine otherwise. I will never say in my posts what anyone else says or does except for Wynifrid, and I hope others would afford me the same respect and courtesy.
You can also assume Wynifrid does not do anything unless I explicitly post that she does it--albeit I'm okay with Barcas posting some minor details to an extent to moving the story along, but I reserve the right to reject or alter that if I feel it is not in my character.

Glad to hear it went well - though the softball-sized cancer sounds a bit scary. Hang in there, and we'll try to help keep you entertained.

Evening Guys.
I'm back from vacation and I'll be posting on John after I get some rest. I got an interesting idea for my post.
In other news for those who have seen my Way of the Wicked, I just posted the recruitment thread for my second campaign and its a bit of a 180.
Zeitgeist The Gears of Revolution Take a look. Its going to be a roleplay / steampunk / investigation and spy style AP.

Evening guys!
I just posted a little something for flavor. I'll get to a post for John tomorrow morning. Getting knocked unconscious worked rather well with me going on vacation.

Thorn Syndergaard |

Glad to hear everything went well Barcas, Its been a busy week for me at work so i will get caught up today and make a post later on

Doran Tidewrack |

So, it seems we've lost Beshra, eh? I'm with another PC of his in a different PbP, and he's been gone from there for a month or so, and hasn't posted in at least one game he runs in about that long as well.
We still have 7 characters in this game, so I'm curious if folks think we need to replace him. We'll still have a divine caster (Vrunyar), and we'll have lots and lots of melee and ranged chops (fighter, ranger, barbarian and gunslinger, plus a knifemaster rogue). Anyway - Barcas and gang, what do you think?

![]() |

DM Barcas,
I know that I'm due a post, at this point I'm trying to figure out what how to react to this situation. I'll try to get something up tomorrow morning.

Doran Tidewrack |

@John - I hope Doran didn't overplay his hand there. I just wanted to tell a credible story of why he didn't get on with some of the crew, and I tried to base it a tiny bit on truth, so I focused on the differences in our backgrounds.
Hope it didn't put John & Jakob too much on the spot - but the presumption was they were going to be identifiable as Andoran soldier types anyway, and that's why you suggested the plan in the first place.

![]() |

No, not at all, I just needed to sleep on it. I am thinking about a way that I can actually give you an "aid another" on your bluff. I think I know what I will be posting.

Doran Tidewrack |

Hey gang - I'll be camping Sunday-Wednesday, back for a day, and then I leave Friday for PaizoCon with my son. I may have a chance to post when I'm home on the 4th of July, but I may be otherwise engaged then. Bot me as needed to keep things moving.

![]() |

I'll put it together tonight, Wife is on her way home from a 3 day trip so I am trying to get the house clean.

Thorn Syndergaard |

It can be hard to write when you have been up for more than 24 hours and your mind wanders. I probably had a million different ideas pop in my head and I changed this last post so many times I lost count. Even with all that said I like how it turned out and no hard feelings John and Wyn! LOL

![]() |

None taken, I'm a redhead with a peg-leg, I expected some abuse! I just pray that I never get the pegleg ripped off and then beat with it. *grins*

Wynifrid |

No hard feelings, but Wyn felt she had to react the way she did or risk worse harassment later by the rest of the crew. I hope YOU have no hard feelings. On the other hand, I also hope you haven't made Wyn a target, as neither she nor I feel like rping out endless butt slapping scenarios.
I also would like to take a moment to note: we are on a pirate ship, in a pirate game. Historically and legendarily, women in particular can be abused pretty heinously (as can others, particularly minors and minorities). Not talking butt slapping or joking, but some very terrible things. If any of you--including the GM--thinks it makes for good "story" to include/feature Wyn in a scenario of sexual harassment or assault given the subject matter and theme of the adventure, PLEASE run it by me first, via private message or email (PM me for my email address).
I have a personal history of childhood sexual abuse and like to avoid trauma triggers in my pretendy funtime games, and would therefore appreciate your assistance, empathy, and respect in this regard. I find it highly unlikely something like this would occur, but as I have been in a situation in the past where a PBP GM suddenly decided to drop an attempted rape scene on my character (in a game where there was no indication there would be any such kind of theme or event), I unfortunately realize that I can't simply assume people might have the awareness that running such a thing by the player first would be a good idea.
Thank you.

Doran Tidewrack |

I'd propose we keep sexual harrassment and assault out of this game. I certainly don't need to have that kind of behavior part of my RPG experience, and it sounds like I'm not alone in that.
I think the occasional leering threat or menacing innuendo has a place in a game like this, but there's plenty can be done with threats of non-sexual violence that carry the point where needed, and plenty of opportunity to commit such violence as well. (That felt odd to write and would sound pretty weird out of context, but I hope the meaning is clear.)
Edit: @John - you sure have set yourself up for some trouble by backing my bluff. I shouldn't have worried about putting you in jeopardy - you're perfectly capable of putting yourself there! ;)

DM Barcas |

The pirates are intended to be creepy, but anything like that is frowned upon. Human nature is what it is, though, but I've always planned on it being nothing more than an occasional threatening undercurrent kept under control by the pirates. I get enough horror day-to-day where I don't need to throw it in my semiheroic fantasy.
I am crafting the response post right now. Going back and reading some older posts to get it right.
