FYI: We all gain 4hp for a full nights rest. I'm guessing we are going to have to burn some charges from the wand to get us ready for the day.

![]() |

Posting to track the charges for the wand of cure light wounds. I'm assuming that everyone is ok with us going close to full for this fight. If my math is right (and please correct me if I'm wrong) thanks to Sandra the only ones who were still hurt after a the combat with the Makaru and a full nights sleep were John (23/40), Doran (14/28) and Crimson (16/22).
Cure Light Wounds #1 for Doran (21/28): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 37 charges remaining
Cure Light Wounds #2 for Doran (25/28): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 36 charges remaining
Cure Light Wounds #3 for Doran (28/28): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 35 charges remaining
Cure Light Wounds #1 for Crimson (22/22): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 34 charges remaining
Cure Light Wounds #1 for John (25/40): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 33 charges remaining
Cure Light Wounds #2 for John (32/40): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 32 charges remaining
Cure Light Wounds #3 for John (40/40): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 31 charges remaining
That's a very good shake out. 31 Charges remaining, Doran and myself both full with limited waste.

I will be leaving later today for a few days, meaning I will have no computer access until about Monday. I will give posting from my phone a try if I can connect to the internet, but even so, posts will be a bit on the brief side. Please DMPC Aaron as needed so as not to hold up the game.

Doran Tidewrack |

Yeah, I was glad to see it. I wasn't sure I'd even need it, because Doran already had Plugg pretty snowed, but it seemed like this was a new twist to things, and there were others hearing the story, so a roll was a good idea. I just hope that wasn't all I'll get from the dice-o-matic.

![]() |

So I considered holding onto my two hero points for incase I got killed, but with Plugg's to hit of +14, the chance of being parryed were too dangerous and I decided to blow a hero-point for the +8 to hit. Really glad I did in hindsight.

![]() |

Vrun, I have a boon that allows me to as an immediate action aid another. I'm going to use it to up your attack by an additional plus +2. This will prevent Pluggs parry from landing and give you some solid damage. I'll get my post up asap, likely tonight.

DM Barcas |

Can't Aid Another after the response from Plugg - unless you would have done it right as Vrunyar made his roll, prior to seeing if Plugg hits or not. It is the sort of thing that works a touch easier at real tables.
Just like readying an action to AA if someone is hit. Doesn't work. You can ready to AA if someone is attacked, but it is too late if they are hit.
He will be all out of Panache soon.

Ollivor Myles |

I have a problem. I was going to blast Aretta, Tam Tate, and Shivikah with a color spray, but it seems they aren't on the map. Add to that, it looks like despite Ollivor telling Crimson and Quinn of his plan to take out the supporters of Plugg and Scourge, they and others have charged into melee with them so I can't hit their guys without hitting our guys?

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

Thanks John for the attempt. I was psyched when I saw Vrunyar’s attack roll: can’t get much better than 19! Rolling Plugg’s parry/riposte to beat the total attack by 1 was a blow. I studied the modifiers for a few minutes making sure I had everything right to the best of my knowledge. Then realizing Plugg can hit me with a roll of a 2 really made me chuckle.
Doran, that’s what I meant. Once you attack and reveal your true loyalties to Plugg if you could move a square, that’d be great. Though with your sneak attack damage it may all be moot at that point ;)

Olli, I loved the line about peeing in Plugg's food! Also, while it's a small thing, you gain +1 damage on your magic missle vs. plugg from my bane effect.

Doran Tidewrack |

Thanks for your thoughts, Ollivor - as long as Plugg goes down, Doran will be okay, as much as he'd like to get in a shot on Plugg. But I would like Doran to get to turn on Scourge or someone else on Plugg's side, mostly so he's seen by the whole crew as fighting against the bad guys. I don't want anyone to doubt whose side he's really on.

DM Barcas |

I've got to make this interesting somehow - so you've got Owlbear to deal with now! He's so far gone with Scourge's threats that he won't back down. Remember that he has DR 4 against non-lethal attacks, so you'll watch out for trying not to hurt him. He has Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma dumped, and everything else pumped into Strength and Constitution.

Doran Tidewrack |

Thanks for offering the full attack option, Barcas. I've been trying to get into position for the whole fight so far, it's nice to get both attacks in - even if one missed.

Doran Tidewrack |

It's a very minor point, Thorn, but you only get Freebooter's Bane vs Plugg, and you already killed him!

Doran Tidewrack |

Scourge lives!
Not fer long, matie!
Sorry about that, Thorn, I really did think I was making a minor point...

Thorn Syndergaard |

well since it needs to be corrected Thorn did Charge from more than 2 spaces so he gets a +2 bonus on the charge correct and the freebooters bond adds +2 to flanking so he would hit Scourge but only for 12 damage (9+3) instead of the 17 or am I wrong yet again

Doran Tidewrack |

I think the effects of the critical and lead blades may have been exaggerated a bit in his damage roll, but it should still be enough to finish him off.

I loved it. It was sad.. but good, ya know. I actually feel bad for Owlbear.

DM Barcas |

It was very good. Owlbear deserved a nice send-off. He's a very tragic character.
Celeador and I worked out a few months ago (when he was in Houston) that the Man's Promise is too badly damaged to survive - but that it has enough mojo to get to Rickety's and steal the Empty Lighthouse. The latter ship is exactly the type of ship that you lot should have for Firefly-esque adventures.

Vrunyar Magmabeard |

The scene with Ollivor and Owlbear reminded me a bit of George and Lenny in Of Mice and Men. Owlbear’s death is so sad. Traumatic even since I didn't expect it. That was the worst part of this fight.

F. Castor |

I kinda hoped Owlbear would survive too, Vrunyar. His death was indeed sad, yet well-written by both DM Barcas and Ollivor.
On a different note, I see you have updated the Campaign Info tab, DM Barcas, so I thought to decide on Aaron's age. How does 142 years old (making his year of birth 4571) sound to you? That would mean that he grew up in a Cheliax that had Aroden as a patron deity, making him old enough to remember not only a pre-Asmodeus Cheliax, but also such events as the civil war, as well as the events concerning Sargava and, later on, Andoran.

Doran Tidewrack |

I thought your post with Owlbear was great, Ollie. I'm a bit busy at the moment, will likely get a post up tonight or tomorrow.
I agree about Owlbear's death being sad - didn't see that coming, made for a powerful turn in the story.

Doran Tidewrack |

His death was necessary. He would be a very difficult NPC to keep on the ship, and would get quite one-note very fast.
I get that, and I didn't mean to argue that he shouldn't have died. Quite the opposite, in fact, because his death provided so much power to the story.
On a different note, how shall we divide up Scourge and Plugg's gear? I would take the +1 studded leather, if it can be made to fit me, not a lot else that would be super useful.

![]() |

That's a good question Doran..
Plugg and Scourge had the following gear:
+1 keen rapier
Iakob's masterwork pistol
Plugg's coat (+1 padded armor)
a potion of cure moderate wounds
Scourge's +1 whip
Scourge's +1 studded leather
Plugg's coat present's a bit of a problem, since it's only 2AC.. I suppose I could see Ollivor getting the most use out of it since the +1 from the coat would stack with his mage armor and it is only a 5% spell failure. That's the only thing I can think of for that item.
I would like Iakob's pistol.. mostly for roleplay reasons, but John will occasionally use it. I know it will never be as good as a bow, but thematically it is cool.
Plugg's +1 keen rapier is a pretty amazing weapon. Two players here have weapon finesses and that is Aaron and Doran. Of the two, I think Aaron would get the most out of it, since it is medium sized and Doran does d8's with daggers. I know it's not as good for him as a Wakizashi, but it's pretty close.
Scourge's +1 studded leather. Aaron, Thorn and Doran are all good candidates for it. Because Doran will need to get into combat and Thorn is usually at range with his bow, I think the studded leather would be better for him. This assumes that Aaron takes the rapier and the armor can be resized.
The potion of cure moderate wounds could go to anyone except for John since he carries the wand.
Scourge's +1 whip. No one in the group uses whip's so this is a bit of a wash. It's an exotic weapon as well so that complicates thing. I suspect our best candidate at the moment would actually be Sandra since she is a cleric of Calistria and can use the whip since it is her goddesses favored weapon.
Anyhow, that's just my brainstorming ideas off the cuff.

Doran Tidewrack |

I'm not terribly interested in it, but as a bard, Doran can use the whip, and it might be good to have a magic weapon, even if it's an odd one. I'd also rather one of us have it than an NPC, unless there's a compelling story reason to give it to Sandara.
I agree about the rapier, it's exactly the kind of thing that I drool over, but it's not the best fit for Doran.
