Apologies, but I'm super confused right now. Where's my nearest target, and how many rounds will it take me to get to it? I don't know what's dead or where anybody is. I thought there was a dragon in the north hall, but apparently not? And Nikolai isn't by me, he's at the entrance or something?

Hmmm...can Nikolai and Taisper do enough damage to this second dragon at the entrance hall so that Verik can try to move out and range-heal Jemini with a channel in the south square? Not sure we're going to make all of that happen this round after the dragons take their turn.
So the wounded large dragon in the central square is now by himself there?

I don't think that your math is right. With an effective strength of 24, that is +7 damage per hand. Power Attack is -2/+4 for one handed attacks. With +2 from Favored Enemy and +1 from the greatsword's enhancement bonus, that comes to a total of +14 damage. If the weapon were two-handed, it would get another +3 from strength-and-a-half, and another +2 from Power Attack.
The dragon will take a total of 2d8+19 using just the greatsword, unless I'm missing something above, for a total of 28 damage.
Just to weigh in on this in OOC -- considering the calculation above, his final point for 2d6+20 came from the Prayer, so total of 29. Hate to be finicky on this point, but every little bit helps.
Speaking of which, with Taisper's mighty blow I think that brings our second dragon down to -2 (47hp - 29 - 20).
Selective Channel incoming next for Nikolai/Verik/Ivahn/Kesten (and Taisper but ya know he doesn't need it)

I looked over rulez for improperly sized weapons and learned what I was doing wrong. If I were using a one-handed Large weapon, I'd have been right, but by rule I can cross the size category, but not the handedness caregory for sizing it. So even though a large longsword would deal the same damage as a greatsword, a greatsword is not a large long sword.
I won't screw that up again. I just thought I had a chance at two attacks that way.

C'mon Akiros you're up - you can go right after Berrin as Jemini and Zander's actions are in a different area of battle. You just have to do 38hp damage or else you're dead, but no pressure man :P

Yup! Sorry, was away again for a few days. Thought i"d have signal but I hardly did at all. Posting later today.
Good luck with the case! This your first big one as detective?

Yep I can heal Nikolai with a subbed Cure Moderate Wounds or Channel Energy if he wants to delay. I'd love to get a Bless up so Nikolai and Taisper have another bonus to hit besides the Prayer, but I don't think there's time for both. I can heal Nikolai and then move towards the square.

Nikolai can charge, as he has no civilians in his location. The narrative supports him being on the north edge and the dragon on the south side of Jemini's, although we aren't quite so specific in this new system. Now that we've ironed out most of the kinks, what do you all think of the no-map system we've used in this fight?
Who is submitting an item to RPG Superstar 2013? I don't have the time, but I am submitting one anyway because it's a lot of fun. I settled on an item tonight and hope to hammer out the details before the deadline.

I'm on the fence about the system actually. It makes spreading the battle out a lot simpler, gives auto flank if you outnumber the enemy and it takes tactical movement to a different level (not better or worse, just different) but then again tactical movement and battlefield control are a huge factor in pf combat and the new system is my first try with anything resembling free-form.
I want to submit and have actually settled on an item and have begun crunching it but now I'm thinking that I've seen it somewhere before and have to go hunting.

Item Submitted!!
I actually came up with an item Last year, but Missed the submission deadline by a couple of Hours! (Had assumed that it went to the End of the day, not Half Way Through It....grrr)
Anyway, after waiting a whole frickin' Year, my item's finally in.
Good luck to all who submit!
Oh and re the new combat system, I'm sorta Meh. Don't love it, don't hate it. But I see how it's certainly easier for you Barcas, so I'm cool with it.

Well, I submitted yesterday! I know that Steve did as well. I hope the rest of you did because it's a blast. (I also brainstormed most of the archetype work while at an extra job on Saturday, so I won't be caught off-guard if I get selected this year like I was in 2011.) I do think my item is very cool, and there's nothing remotely like it in the SRD or Ultimate Equipment. Of course, that's what I thought last year and that item - mirror of monstrous echoes - ended up in the dozen or so Keeps that didn't quite make the Top 32.
In other news, I will DMPC Taisper when I get an opportunity, but it won't happen for a while. Dan seems to be MIA, and his Facebook account is off. I'll ask his RL friends in some other threads. I am currently neck-deep in my first capital murder, although I have identified the suspects and hope to be a-catchin' them soon. (If/when I catch them, I will be MIA for a while in the crush of work involved in a capital arrest.)

That's fine, boss. Erm....while you were busy, Nikolai rolled a crit and killed that other dragon. You, uh, needn't check into the thread. We'll be okay for a bit. Um....
(somebody go quick!)
Hehe kind of like getting the next snap off before they call instant replay on you eh?

Terrible, killing someone over a few hundred dollars. Not that any amount is acceptable of course. It's just something like this clearly displays how very little value some lost souls give life, others or their own.
All speed and success in putting the bad guys away bro.

Happy New Years everyone, I've brought the dragon down to 15 hp for you Akiros and I much appreciate it if you'd drop large dragon no. 1 Jemini so Berrin can get his AC back up ;)
Happy New Years! Well that was a nice tag-team on the medium red over there with swords & steeds! Yeah I think you definitely have to evade until we can all come together and cover each other. On horseback you might be able to lead him on a bit?
So in terms of the Southern Square and all of us at 8 Initiative: If Nikolai and Taisper want to hold slightly, Verik can go first, move to reach Southern Square (as he moved 1/2 out last round) and conduct a Bless that should benefit Nikolai, Taisper and Jemini. That will stack with the Prayer for Nikolai and Taisper (so combined for +2 Hit, +1 Dmg, +2 Fear Saves/+1 other Saves) for the couple of rounds we have left on it. Then I can go back to healing the wounded.
Other option is to move and heal Jemini with a subbed Cure Moderate, but I'd rather maximize your three chances to hit the Large and bring him down.
| Berrin Myrdal |
mmm.. I'm actually thinking about tempting Lady Luck next round...
Fighting defensively with combat expertise I can bump my AC by 4 (to 26 if you guys drop large #1, otherwise 24) with a -6 to hit and with my final hero point I can get an extra standard action to drink a potion of cure moderate wounds I have on me.
So;
Handle Animal -Free
Attack -Standard
Retrieve Potion -Move -Provoke AOO
Drink Potion -Standard via hero point...
Sounds more worthwhile than provoking an AOO by retreating or maybe that's just me?
