Imbued Votive
Aura: minor evocation; CL: 1st
Slot: —; Price: 1,250 gp; Weight: —
Description
Imbued votives are simple, short candles of beeswax (or paraffin, if an alchemist can be found to produce the material) set in a small ceramic or metal bowl. Most have been heavily perfumed and might give off spicy or musky smells. They can be lit easily, and no matter how long they burn (shedding light as a normal candle), they do not burn down.
If a divine spellcaster who prepares spells or a witch prepares spells in the presence of a lit imbued votive, the spellcaster can name one creature type. Any spell prepared during this time has its saving
throw DC increased by +1 against creatures of the named type. An imbued votive can be used only once per day to enhance the spells of a single spellcaster.
Construction Requirements: Craft Wondrous Items, bane;
Cost: 625 gp.

Google Docs has been less and less reliable lately, so I am just creating it on an Excel file and creating a jpeg.
Combat is a bit like this:
--------------------
{ooc}{b}Round X, Initiative Y{/b}
hp: xx/xx; AC: xx/yyT/zzFF
Current Effects: xyz{/ooc}
{ooc}Non-Combat Skill Checks {dice}1d20+x{/dice}
In Alphabetical Order{/ooc} {dice}1d20+x{/dice}
{ooc}MA: Action X
SA: Action Y {dice}1d20+x{/dice}{/ooc}
Illustrative flavor text
---------------------
It can deviate from this at times, but it's largely something similar to this. I try to keep the order as standard as possible to avoid the appearance of manipulating roll order.
If you cast a spell or do anything that requires a save, roll the save for whoever is affected by it. You also have the AC and hit points, so treat it accordingly.
@Nikolai Remember that Nik doesn't know that he has any magic at this point. While he occasionally had sparks of magical power before, he never really put two and two together as the Stag Lord. If you want him to use magic, it will be a truly spontaneous event.
Anyone find it rather funny that the semi-blind character was the only one who made the Perception roll?

DM Barcas |

Right now, you're basically in very difficult terrain if you want the horse to walk out, sucking up 20 feet of movement per 5 feet. A double move would thus result in being able to move 25 feet. The horses would also have some difficulty moving around each other.
If you wanted to go faster, a Swim check might be appropriate and let you get twice as far for a relatively small risk.

No worries mate, I know how it can get. Actually, I had wanted to say after reading one of your OOC posts in the 1st game thread (but hope it's not taken in the wrong way at all) that I loved the idea/image of a police officer, in court, posting to his PbP game through his smartphone! Now That's the kind of cop I'd like to have around ; D
As for the game, no, I have no problem playing a pre-existing NPC. In looking through the list on the campaign info page, it seems like only these NPCs might be able to leave their duties and travel are(if I'm wrong, please correct me):
Alexius Morai-Thrune, Human Male: Mysterious stranger from Cheliax and Hellknight signifier. Assists Taisper on his Hunts.
Akiros Ismort, Human Male: Former lieutenant of the Stag Lord. Pledged his fealty to Newhaven for sparing his life. Was blinded by Tandlara, but the blindness was lifted. Currently serves as the general of their army. (Maybe available??)
Archbanker Vinodragov, Human Male: Abadar's main representative in Brevoy. Has visited Newhaven several times to keep an eye out for its development.
Kressle, Human Female: Captured bandit. Primary witness against Ioseph Sellimus. Currently held prisoner at Lord Lebeda's castle at Silverhall.
Ilyana Flaxton, Human Female: Widow of Nicholas and mother of Nicholas Jr.
Bokken, Dwarf Male: Eccentric ale-brewer who lives in the mountains to the south of Oleg's. Fond of telling impressive tales about himself, which may or may not be true.
Gregary, Human Male: Enthusiastic former sellsword, voluntarily sworn to the Wardens; currently missing to the south.
Grigori, Human Male: Antagonistic bard fomenting ill feelings towards the leadership of Newhaven.
Travess, Human Male: Former member of the Red Stag's gang; moody and quiet; currently sworn to the Wardens for a ten-year sentence.
Yanna, Human Male: Former member of the Red Stag's gang; angry and defiant; currently sworn to the Wardens for a twenty-five year sentence.
Demitir, Human Male: Former member of the Red Stag's gang; studious and shy; currently sworn to the Wardens for a ten year sentence.
Esmerelda Ludovan, Human Female: Sultry lover to Steward Berrin Myrdal.
I also noticed that some of the Leadership did not seem to be actual PCs
Leadership:
Councilor Svetlana Leveton
Grand Dipolmat Kesten Garess
Magister Jhod Kavken
Marshal Corwin of the Axe
Spymaster Tandlara Esirrien
Treasurer Oleg Leveton
If this list is correct, if you could let me know what classes those available to choose from are, I'll be happy to make a choice as who I'd best like to play.
And Thanks! Really excited about the chance to finally play in one of your games bro.

Akiros, as designed, is a Samurai. If he is the one you are most interested in, he's a fascinating character. He is honor-bound almost to a fault. His backstory starts near the end of the first thread. I would enjoy seeing a new dynamic between him and Nikolai now that he has been released from service following the Stag Lord's death. He also has a specific, tragic backstory. The name itself is probably taken, as Akiros is one of the regular NPCs. Read his story and let me know what you think of him.

Khaladon |

Hey, hope I wasn't coming across as pushy or anything? I only want in if that also works for you and your existing players. But thank you kindly for the compliment sir.
Just to be clear, the "maybe available" wasn't expressing that he was particularly the one I was interested in, it was my wondering if a general of their armies would be available to go off adventuring. Especially with most of the Leadership already gone.
That being said, I am a sucker for a tragic backstory and he certainly sounds interesting. If he is the NPC you'd most like to see brought in, I'll be happy to play him. My main question/concern though is that as the majority of the party already seems particularly martial oriented and magic light, would Akiros be bringing anything of significant value to the party (aside from some assuredly good rp potential?)

DM Barcas |

Alexius, as a magus, is the biggest remaining arcane caster, but no one
except for Taisper likes or trusts him.
Kesten is a cavalier, if cavaliers rock your boat.
Jhod is another divine caster, which might be overload with Taisper and Verik both. (He's also a little underdeveloped.)
Bokken is one of the NPCs I can't part with, because he's so much crazy fun to play; he would also get tiresome as more than occasional comic relief.
What are you interested in playing?

Khaladon |

I can play anything. My main concern is just bringing something valuable and useful to the group. If another magic user is coming back, between them and the bard, that should be fine I guess. It does seem like the party could use a roguish type, but then I've played a ton of those.
There might be some RP fun in playing a PC not liked or trusted by most of the party, but I'm already playing a magus, so...
Never played a cavalier and don't really have an opinion of them one way or another (except that a certain Captain I know of certainly kicks ass all over the place). I do like the disgraced noble angle, some good rp potential there I am sure.
I've never played a samurai either and for sure would like to try playing one, so, based on the options you've listed and you're fondness for him, Akiros does indeed seem like the best way to go. I've already begun reading his backstory/posts related to him (but they go back to July, so it might take a little bit)
So you already have a character rolled up? Or should I do so? If yes to the second, what are your character creation rules?

DM Barcas |

@Khaladon I'll post his original build when I get home. I use 20 point buy plus 2 for one axis and 3 for both, so he is 22 point buy as LN. All characters are 4th with standard wealth now. Akiros will have to have some solo adventures in Sanctuary in the meantime. Feel free to make him your own, so long as the spirit remains the same.
Soooooooo it looks like asking nicely worked out well for Khaladon, who will be jumping in as Akiros.

Verik of Abadar |

Welcome Khaladon! Well you know Verik heard it from a guy at church who knew a guy whose cousin's sister's brother was a soldier in the Newhaven army who trained under Akiros, and HE said that the entire army is waiting for a rematch of the Berrin v. Akiros fight from the Battle of Stagfall - something about mists getting in the way and getting blinded was no fair and some other thing about some Stag Lord hogging up all the drama. I mean that's what he heard of course...

Khaladon |

Do you have HeroLab DM B, to automatically drop him down to 4th? If not, no worries I can do it manually. But if so, does it matter which feat he got last and I have to get rid of and all that? In other words, can I alter him at all, as necessary, or does he need to be set up a certain way?
@Verik: Really? They're looking for a rematch you say, against that arrogant lout Berrin? [steeples fingers evily]...Excellent...[/steeples fingers evily]
Oh! Ah, hi there Berrin! Sorry, didn't see ya standing there.
<.<
>.>
Ah, ahem, ya! Thanks for the welcome!Looking forward to it too!

Next Month's Purchase -- Build Dueling Field in Sanctuary (4 BP)
Ha so no shared teamwork feats between Akiros and Berrin anytime soon, though it seems Akiros may also have a bone to pick with his former liege based on his reaction to Nikolai's arrival -- and I thought Verik's relationship with Vinodragov was trouble!
Gah Nikolai where are you man -- go kill that thing to end Round 1 so we can go exploring why don't ya :)
EDIT: Ahh okay I went lurking a bit and it looks like PsionicFox is off for a week starting last Sunday, so we may not see him for a few more days there.

Akiros Ismort |

That's just an example. So long as the gist is similar, feel free to remake him as you see fit.
Ok, cool. Thanks. Will be ready in a day or two.
@Berrin: lol
(Haven't really found Akiros' 'voice' yet, so can't really accurately speak for him, even in 'pretend', until I do. So you win this round! But the battle is not yet done!)
@Verik: Dueling Field! Fun! First dibs on the Fighter!
PS The avatar name should be correct yes? He is now technically (or officially?) a Ronin?

Akiros Ismort |

It's fine if that's what you want to call him. You've got 10 posts to change it. He is a samurai only in class, not culture, though. The picture may not be apt.
Akiros Ismort doesn't seem to be taken, actually.
Have you finished reading Akiros's posts?
Ah good. I didn't like that name or picture anyway. Not sure what I was thinking with the silly assumption.
Not finished reading yet, there's a Lot. Think I'm up to August, close to the end of the month. But that's just New Beginnings. Still have to go through Interregnum. Character sheet will be ready tomorrow.
So do you already know how you want to bring Akiros in? Any surprises or anything special/fun? : )

Berrin Myrdal |

One of my co-workers filed this case: Link.
I love my job.
It's too bad I was working in a different area when it got assigned. I would have loved to have received it.
Hahaha! 3 stitches after 4 strokes, I'd say the victim was the better martial artist!
Still, as funny as the visuals are I'm pretty sure the vic didn't find it funny at the time.

Verik of Abadar |

Hehe Jemini - reading that part just now about the 4th bite I'm just thinking of Zander's response as "uhhh with friends like Jemini who needs enemies OW" LOL
Well and I was thinking of OOTS #34 :)

Jemini of Lebeda |

Hehe Jemini - reading that part just now about the 4th bite I'm just thinking of Zander's response as "uhhh with friends like Jemini who needs enemies OW" LOL
Well and I was thinking of OOTS #34 :)
hehe - Jemini is about to run/swim and provide 1d6 worth of Lay on Hands. Want it to be worth it! ;)
...
And congrats on making it high again DM Barcas! :)
