"I have no idea what you did Professor... But jolly well done", Sharae smiles as she walks over to the ingenious gnome...

...whilst, taking the opportunity, Valia drags the robots into a corner and looks around for ropemor cabling to bind them with... the sound of muttering beneath the elf's breath talks of 'abominations', 'mechanical monstrosities' and 'affronts to nature'... one look at him confirms that the elf is really... really... angry.

He looks up just in time to see the robots power down, and rushes over to watch in fascination as Anody connects Genni to the console.

"Did it work?! Is the meltdown over?"

Female Orc

the immediate danger is removed, but the overload is still in progress genni explains.
If this device had detonated, it would have caused a cascade effect, resulting in an immediate overload. That would have been...devastating to the settlement above.

Anody sighs. No rest for us then. Genni, is the device disabled for good? Where should we go next to stop the meltdown?

Female Orc

i am now connected to the reactor computer. I see the cause of the overload. The reactor is running at 221% of capacity. They were then transmitting that power, hmmm, here.
An image appears in the air before you. It the the lands around torch. The it seems as if the image expands as more is seen. A red dot is visible, indicating torch, and another, elsewhere.

That's Scrapwall. Surely, we can slow the reactor down here, turn the Torch back on and then we can think about what to do about these miscreants from that lawless town

Sharae can 'take 10' on Knowledge (geography) as well!!! She's hardly a 'skill monkey' but she does do geography!!!!

"221% doesn't sound safe at all Professor... Is that what was going to cause the 'melt down'? You're sure you and Genni can return the 'reactor' to safety? I worry for the long term safety of the town though... What is to stop the Technic League attempting to use this technology against the townsfolk? We must talk more with Khonnir when we get back to the surface..."

Well, the Technic League seemed content to leave Torch alone as long as the, well Torch, was still active Sharae. These criminals from Scrapwall devoted to this 'Hellion' character are the ones who seemed to have sabotaged this place for their own purposes completely independently. Now the rumours say the Technic League will get involved... the denizens of Scrapwall have much to answer for

Female Orc

Genni refocuses
so...analysis of the overload completed. It can be ended by reestablishing the venting procedure. Activating venting procedure.

A sudden hum starts, and the roaring noise can be heard.

Outside, in torch.
It is early evening, and the stars are just starting to show. The town is settling down from the day. Many are still discomforted by the stilled torch that gave the town it's name.

Suddenly the ground shakes and a roar like a hundred angry dragons fills the air. With an explosion of light the town is stunned by the sight. A great column of purple tinged flame streaks to the sky. It was back!

The cheers and screams from the town signeled the start of a nightlong celebration.

Female Orc

meanwhile, in the distance.
The Android prist and her followers look back at the horizon. A purple line of flame stretches to the sky.
She says nothing, her face cold.
Mistress, what does it mean? asks one of her followers

It means we have strong enemies. Good. I will enjoy hearing them scream as I rip out their still beating hearts in sacrifice to our lord.

She turns

come. we have much to do. We return to scrapwall.

Female Orc

Back to the control room

Excellent Genni says. the overload is ended.

May I suggest you leave me here to over see the reactor. I can use these two robots to repair and maintain it, and defend it.

As she says this you pick yourself off the floor. That was an experience indeed. The noise, and vibration was incredible. But you have won.

Torch is saved.

Two weeks pass
any item creation you wish to craft/pay for can be done in this time

The repaired medical robot finally heals Khonnir, and another party kicks off. Once the party is done (the next day)Khonnir and Dolga ask the party to a meeting.

Once seated, Dolga start to talk.
We and the other town councilors are fearful that this "hellion" hasn’t lost interest in Torch, and we wish to protect the town from it. You have already done so much for us, but we wish to ask you to seek out where Meyanda, priestess of hellion, came from and to investigate why she was beaming energy out to Scrapwall in the first place. If Torch is still under threat, please make sure that threat is neutralized. We offer to pay the you a reward of 8,000gp if you can help.

know geography DC 20:
scrapwall is 105 miles northeast of torch

Female Orc

Khonnir adds Meyanda and some of her confederates escaped, as did that scoundral Garmon. We will pay additional rewards for their return for trial, 2000gp for meyanda, 1000 for Garmon. 500 for each confederate. Half that if proof of death is provided.

Female Orc

Dolga continues

The safest route is directly east to the Sellen River, where you can hail a passing riverboat. there are several small villages there where that's possible. If safe as that is one of the ways crusaders heading to Mendlev go, so bandits give the place a wide berth.

She pulls out a map and shows the path to the Sellen.

The crusaders maintain small forts up the river, where you can purchase shelter and supplies, healing too if needed

She looks at you and says

This path adds another 80 or so miles to your journey, but the direct path takes you across sovereign's reach, a much more dangerous journey. But the choice is yours

Khonnir adds

We will give you rations and such for the journey, and our best wishes. You will always have a home in torch.

Oh, Joram, the priest of Brigh would like to speak to you before you go. Dolga finishes

Any questions

Female Orc

OK as noted above, this is two weeks after the relighting of the torch.
Things that have happened
Sanvel, the man that was helping Garmon, and all captured ropefists were exiled from torch. This entails that each has 5 days food, a dagger, a waterskin and the cloths on their backs. If they return they are subject to immediate execution.
Khonnirs inn is open again.
Once more exotic star metal items are for sale.
You have two weeks to have items made, if desired.
Genni has crafted (with the help of her robot assistants) a new body.Another two repair drones were found, and the reactor has been made safe. At the request of the town council, Genni is in charge of the ruin, and the treaty with the skulks has been ratified. Note, the existance of Genni and her new role is a SECRET. The technic league would do a lot to take her if they knew.

Female Orc

Moving along

The party departs Torch at dawn, seeking to head east to the Sellen River. It is fairly quiet as the party advances across the grassy plains, the column of fire from torch fading into the distance. It is a three day journey to the Sellen.

Day one
encounters
day: 1d10 ⇒ 9

night: 1d10 ⇒ 9

the first day is uneventful, with the party making good time, and nothing to see except the occasional copse of trees. The weather is fine, if a little warm. The only thing slowing you down is Anody's short legs.

Female Orc

Day two encounters

day: 1d10 ⇒ 6

night: 1d10 ⇒ 8

As the first the second day is peaceful. Late afternoon, you come across a small village, which has, most importantly, an Inn and stable.
The village has a store and smithy. A 6 foot wooden stockade surrounds it, and several fields to the south have both livestock and crops growing.

Poor Anody is rather tired after two days of keeping up with these swift giants.

As you enter through the gate, a woman steps up to you.

Well met, neighbors. Welcome to Robsrest. May I ask, where are you from? You don't appear to be crusaders. I'm Melony, Mel for short.

You see a fairly competent looking woman, wearing a chain shirt and leathers, and a pair of daggers in her belt, one curved and the other sharp pointed. (A kukri and a punching dagger)

Her face covered in dust from the two days of hard travelling, Sharae takes a swig of water befire answering, "Well met Melony... We are two days out of Torch heading eastwards... I believe it is another day or so to the Sellen? That is where we are headed in the first instance"

...it may be better not to let on that we are headed towards Scrapwall...

"Crusaders?", Sharare smiles and looks at her friends, "I'm afraid not... We are but sinple travellers".

Female Orc

1d20 ⇒ 15

Simple travelers? Really? She looks at your gear, and shrugs. If you say so. If you wish good food and beds, the saucy maid is the place to go. Well... she laughs a bit, it is the only place to stay. Unless you want to sleep in the street. The Inn is fairly empty at the moment.

"Crusaders? Goodness no -- travel is stressful enough without there being demons to look forward to at the end of it," Criek half-jokes. Criek nods to Mel's own armor and weapons, "A traveler can't be too careful! You yourself are dressed for trouble, and you're not even leaving home?"

Female Orc

Mel smiles at criek

oh, this isn't my home, I'm just staying for a while. I was with an adventurer group, the swords of light. A bit pretentious, I guess, but our leader was a cleric of Iomedae. Anyway, we ran into a scorpion robot, which killed most the party. So here I am.

Sharae shivers, the thought of a robot that could decimate a group of ‘crusaders’ is worrying enough… the prospect that it may be nearby is much worse, ”You managed to escape then? Was it near here? Do you think there may be any chance that it would follow you?” Taking another drink of water, Sharae surveys the small community… the thought of a night’s rest beneath a roof is appealing although she can almost ‘taste’ the proximity of the Sellen… somehow, it feels as if the river is calling to her…

Female Orc

Mel grimaces.

The Caravan was carrying tech. That's the only reason they need

She spits on the ground.

Still, enough about unpleasant things. Come, I'll shout you a beer. What they brew here is excellent.

She leads you into the Inn.

The Inn is busy changing from breakfast to lunch, about half full of patrons. There is a warm glow of warmth and hominess here. A sign says No fights! No spitting!

A 1/2 Orc barmaid bustles up to you. She greet you with a toothy grin.

Welcome to the Saucy Barmaid. Would you like a table? We can serve pork, goat or beef at the moment. Mutton in half an hour. Or would you just like drinks?

She writes the order down and bustles off.

Mel continues. Oh I'm from the river kingdoms originally, but ended up in numeria. Long story. Right now, this is my base, so to speak. As for the caravan, we were headed to the Chessad, with a load of starmetals and items for sale to the crusaders. Mithril, adamantium, that sort of thing. We also had tech items, weapons and armor, and a few robots. Myself and my group were going that way anyway, so we hired as guards.

Mel takes a deep drink of her beer
The fight...it was bad. Gearmen, mages and that huge robot. I lost good friends that day. The others, well we broke apart.

She looks distant, and then refocuses with a smile

but enough about me, you must have happier stories than I. Tell me of them

At this point a new figure enters the Inn. Tall, and his face is covered in blue tracery reminding you of...R6. He is wearing a green robe, and is carrying a staff. He stands again, with a another quick motion. Can I have your body for research purposes. he says to Anody.

I don't think that is something to joke about,

given what is going on in the Middle East with ISIS and the stuff they are doing.

Female Orc

agreed. I think there are some threads on the site about it if you want to look, and comment, but not here.

I'm at a conference through Friday night and may be light on posting. When in doubt, Criek elects to keep exploring, stay behind the fightery types, and avoid unnecessary combat.

Sorry about the delay, but my daughter had 400+ dollars stolen off her bank account, I I have spent much of yesterday and today sorting it.

Ah it's all sorted. Money will take a week or so to come back. Still I hope they catch the guy.

Sorry guys, I have a bad dose of flu right now, so I'll be a bit slow posting for a couple of days.

Summarising where we, as a party are:

Criek was searching the crates (without touching)…and found a few ‘silver disks’ – Made a Perception Roll (18) and Knowledge (Engineering) Roll (14)

Anody is Detecting Magic…he is also waiting to hear whether a Knowledge Roll is applicable upon looking at the drawings…he has also made Perception Checks to the S. East and S. West (23) and on the scavenged ‘stuff’ (24)

Ardash has made a Perception roll at the crossroads listening in either direction (17) and a Survival check looking for tracks (20)

Sharae and Valia haven’t made any rolls and are waiting on results of perception checks as to which direction we are headed.

Ayla is just worried about toad things J

As it stands, we can’t / shouldn’t move any farther forward without GM input on results of Skill Checks.

It seems this campaign is on detour.

Should any of you wish to join, some of us are taking part in a module from Tales of The Old Margreve en route to commencing Lost City of Barakus.

Thematic elements include #Old-school-feel, #BrothersGrimm #Ultrasandbox

If anyone is interested in rolling up a level two character, please feel free to check out ye olde recruitment thread, and pose any questions therein. We require a druid/cleric/divine, but if another party or adventurer is to be formed, we may work it in.

In the meantime, wishing Brother Chillblame the best.

Forgive me, I am a millennial. Feel free to PM me for my email/twitter.

Hey all.
I'm back, and that is a week I do not want to repeat (flu is not fun). I'll start posting again in a couple of hours. Thanks for your patience.

That's really amazing Ayla. Keep on being surprised by how tiny Anody is.

Are we waiting for something? We're all pretty much headed into the other passage and Ardash had a perception roll that Anody assissted on.

Should we create a default marching order or something? Anody calls the squishy middle.

HP: 28/41, AC: 16:12:14, CMD: 19 Saves: 6:5:7 + 2vs emotion and fear Init: +2 Skills: Dip + 11, Per +11, Sense +13, Stealth +2

The height reference did show you how you compare to another as I posted early

Ayla Noya Aiba wrote:

You can now clearly see where each character stands to one another.

As In the KM game I was in the Half-ogre was surprised at how small the smallest member of the group was to him.

Yup, somehow it looks even more apparent when they're all sitting down. Anody should be impossible to hit! +10 to size AC!

Anody is small compared to Ayla, as Anody comes up to Ayla's thigh/knee

Yeah, I was slightly taken aback to see Anody rendered next to everyone...think the poor fellow will need a booster cushion in his travelling pack!!!

Fun images though, thanks Ayla

They are all 16:9 so you could even use them as desktop backgrounds, if you want.

And seeing a to scale rendering showing each character's height to one another does shock some into realising how small/big they are to another character.
That and it helps when you describes interactions between characters and imagining the scene in proper perspective with proper scales.

Male Gear Gnome Archivist (Bard) 6 Gestalt Technomancer 3| HP 44/44 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | CMD 14| F 4 R 7 W 6| Per +10 | Init +1 | Perform 14/17

So I think we're just wainting for the results of Ardash and Anody's perception rolls for the south east corridor? Maybe someone else do an Aid perception to get us over 25?

AC 20, T14, FF16, F+6 R+8 W+10, HP 35/46, 1 CON damage, Initiative +2, Perception +4, Channel Energy 4/8, Bit of Luck 7/7, Agile Feet 7/7, Grit 3/4, Panache 2/3

I think we were heading down the corridor regardless of Perception checks?

Apologies upfront but I am going be a little too honest now...whilst I am enjoying this game, and the RP within the group, the pace is starting to frustrate me... I know the GM has had issues, and it's cool that he has warned us when those issues are coming up, it's more that the GM posts we do get aren't always taking the story forward...I don't know but is there something we can do to help the GM tell the story? Would a different style of post help?

....mini-rant over!!!

BTW, I really am enjoying the game!!!!!!

HP: 28/41, AC: 16:12:14, CMD: 19 Saves: 6:5:7 + 2vs emotion and fear Init: +2 Skills: Dip + 11, Per +11, Sense +13, Stealth +2

Agreed, that I am getting frustrated with the speed, but RL likes to throw some monkey wrenches, So I understand it well.

Android Ranger (Galvanic Saboteur) 2 | HP 21/26 | AC 16, Tch 12, FF 14 | CMD 17 | Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +1 | Init +4 | Per +8 | Darkvision 60', Low-light vision, Construct traits

If we're being honest, I also have not been completely happy with how this campaign has been flowing. I really do enjoy the group however, and despite chill glazing over a lot of the detail in our posts, I have been having a blast playing with you all.

So if anything is to be taken away from this discussion, if you could really pay attention to what we post chill and address all of our rolls and questions, that would really help to improve things.

I feel like if we as players put the time and effort into composing these detailed and thoughtful posts for your game, the least you could do is spend the time to address all of the points we illustrate.

Thank you!

I don't want to judge one way or the other; I've probably got less pbp under my belt than most here, so don't have a lot of expectations.

So, also from that point of limited experience, I suppose I'll double up on this part of Sharae's question: chill, is there anything we can do on our end to make clearer the individual / group intent?

Male Gear Gnome Archivist (Bard) 6 Gestalt Technomancer 3| HP 44/44 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | CMD 14| F 4 R 7 W 6| Per +10 | Init +1 | Perform 14/17

There have been points where someone in the group has had to summarize what everyone has done and what we are waiting for to be able to proceed which is a bit frustrating as it slows down the pace.

There was also the confusion about what was going on before we swam in to the caverns and recently we didn't get any response to our questions about the pictures on the walls.

Other than that the game has been great and the maps have been very noce. I think we're really close to having an amazing game and anything we can do to help in that regard would be good to know. :)

Just a suggestion:
To move this game along one or a few of us could co-GM the game so when chill is bogged down someone else could take some of the load.
Though a few co-GM rules would be needed to make sure meta-gaming is limited.

HP: 28/41, AC: 16:12:14, CMD: 19 Saves: 6:5:7 + 2vs emotion and fear Init: +2 Skills: Dip + 11, Per +11, Sense +13, Stealth +2
