As this is my first foray into PbP, I'm not really sure what the opportunities are. For example, I know that there is more out there than just Flaxseed, but I don't know what or where to look for it. Are there even non-PFS PbP games?
Over the past 2-3 years my gaming has become exclusively PFS, because there's always games that way, but I really miss homebrew. Unfortunately there aren't any local games that would work for me. But if I could get into a PbP homebrew, that would be awesome.

There is a generic recruitment board. Where GMs Recruitment threads appears. Most folk these days seem to use Flaxseed for PFS. Check out the various GMs signup sheets at the top though. Games don't always get individually posted.

Shifty I know what you mean about Ravenloft and Dark Sun. I spent a ton of time in all the source material, but only ever GM'd a game or two in each. My opportunities were limited to RPG at the time. Looking back I feel cheated I didn't get to explore them more. My best memories from the 'old days' come from extensive runs all over Greyhawk.

Granta, there is heaps and heaps of non-PFS on the boards, over in the Recruitment threads.
Flaxseed seems to have become the default sub-board for PFS sign up, and most of us recruit players in there, but as a player if you have a particular interest in a scenario or module I'd recommend specifically asking for it in the thread - there's a bajillion people come in and ask for a game, and I know I don't pay attention to that approach, but someone coming in and asking for a particular scenario is significantly more likely to get a response... especially if it is a scenario or series I like.
Non-PFS there is stack of homebrew of varying quality, I have had some fantastic ones, and some that sucked. Interestingly, all of them (including Adventure Paths) folded well before the ending.
Rise of the Runelords - Book 4
Second Darkness - Book 4
Skull & Shackles - Book 2
Shattered Star - Book 1
Reign of Winter - Book 2
Legacy of Fire - Book 3
Now I love the idea of an AP, but in PbP this has not gone to plan.
I am on track to finally completing my first one as a player - Crimson Throne! - but that is face to face with a really committed party of veteran gamers where we play it to the max - roleplay heavy, it is fantastic!

That's once nice thing about PFS on PbP, due to there length and nature you have a pretty strong shot at reaching the finish line. Before I got into Pathfinder (thank goodness); I played 4th Ed for several years and tried a couple of homebrew PbPs, they always fizzled way too soon.
Quite frankly most in person homebrews and APs fizzle too soon, as well.

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow, haste, courage, prayer, melee penalty, cold iron arrow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
arrow retrievable if I miss? Even says yes: 1d100 ⇒ 50
+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow, haste, courage, prayer, melee penalty, cold iron arrow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
arrow retrievable if I miss? Odd says yes: 1d100 ⇒ 31

RPGs by their nature are open ended so will all end "early". Okay, so not APs, although they could be. PbPs should in theory be able to go on longer than table top groups as physical movement of people is less of an issue.
I kept one going for more than ten years (PbP) on another site. That was pretty much a record though.

When I say end early, I'm suggesting they folded with the main story arc unresolved - or even looking like being resolved - due to players disappearing or the GM cutting away for other reasons. Basically that feeling of being unresolved.
In PbP the best bet for a 'story' is to chain a series of 3-4 part PFS Scenarios, or knock over the modules. Dragons Demand is apparently quite good in that regard (haven't played/GM'd it)

I have.

Howdy Pathfinders -- just a quick note, I'm not going to get a chance to post the next action today...will be back at it tomorrow. Cheers

We're in the middle of a wealthy city - will there be an opportunity for me to pick up a handy haversack after this fight?
Chaosorbit |
The way I read it, the Spiritual Weapon doesn't have a move speed, so you can move it anywhere in range of the spell with a move action; and it just appears at the new spot and can attack.

Near the end gang --
Everyone give me a d20 roll for a boon 16 or 20 wins one.
GM boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 20 Well what do you know!
Also, let me know if any one is on slow progression.

Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 20
1d6 ⇒ 5
I've been exceptionally lucky this Gameday. I've won at least 2 others.

still need a boon roll from Dame Day
Chronicles here Dropbox
Take a look and let me know if they look good.
Thanks folks I enjoyed running this game; good group, pretty fast pace, lots of good roleplay and roll play! Hope you all enjoyed it as well.

I'm level 8 now! And you know what that means: Plague Bombs!
Dr. Zephyrus Vitruvian |
I've been able to bring back the dead since level 7...sort of.

Which agent did you need to have played to get the Kitio's Foe boon?
I see Sho's name in there, and I played her. Not that Vrald can actually do sneak attacks, that is not very knightly after all. But I am curious.
Chaosorbit |
Sho is the same as the Professional isn't she; I didn't put 2 and 2 together.
I've update your chronicle on the dropbox to grant the boon.
Anyone else play The professional, Shohiraj?
Dr. Zephyrus Vitruvian |
I played Rataji (and am presently playing Thestil in "Serpent's Ire"), so no.

Working on reporting now.
boon #: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Will turn this thread inactive soon. Thanks again!
Chaosorbit |
No apology needed...no biggie. Just use the previous chronicle or cross out the boon on the current one. Cheers!

Scenario is showing up in Paizo, and I received my boon. I would think Dr. V has as well. Going to inactive.
Cheers All!
