Ok everyone -- major *bump*.
"Check, check ... is this thing on?"
So, I was unemployed for about a month. (... which was ... fun...) During that month I had a good amount of extended family visiting. Which just made everything a bit more ... stressful. I've been at my new job for a little over a month now. Technically it's "temporary", but I strongly suspect that it's more for political reasons (the organization of the organization isn't terribly ... organized) than because they don't have a position for me. (I recently applied for a government, civilian, "Mathematician" job as well -- it would be nice if that panned out.) ...dreams fluffy thoughts of being out of the mortgage industry for good...
Anyway, long way to say that I think I can commit to doing this again. At least a little bit. Mornings are a little easier for me than afternoons and I might be able to do some posting in the evenings. Are others still interested?
I think that Taig and Treppa are in and I think that Woodraven is out. I keep hoping to rope Urizen back in -- he seems to be a FB junkie recently.
Let me know your thoughts...

Alrighty...
I've *bumped* the campaign back with kind of a summary of what has just happened and where you are.
If you get a chance, update your characters to 8th level. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.
Our primary system is down right now and I had a little time to kill.
My plan is to do one primary post every weekday (or at least every other day) just to help keep things going and on track. Things were fast and furious to begin with probably since it was fun and new, but it was also a bit time consuming and confusing to keep track of. If we limit ourselves to checking in once a day, I think it will go a lot smoother -- especially for those of us who are quite busy with ... that one word. What was that word? ... Life? ;-)

I thought we already were 8th level.

I would just like to apologize. I've been sick now for four weeks. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and got some antibiotics. (I really hate going to the doctor. Which should tell you how bad off I've been.) Anyway, I've been surviving enough to get things done at work and little else. Kind of the walking dead, really. Hopefully with the antibiotics I'll be feeling better soon.
I will try and post an update today or tomorrow. Sorry about the delay. It's pretty rare for me to be sick. Rarer still for me to be sick for more than two days. This is pretty well unheard of for me.
Also, I think CH, Lynora, Taig, and Treppa are committed. I think that Woodraven and Urizen are not going to be joining us anymore. And Patrick may still have quite a bit on his plate.
So, go forward with what we've got? Recruit more/new players? Or should we do something else?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

So we're the band of mostly halflings now?
Very LotR vibe...halflings out to save the multiverse. :)
We've technically got enough people to make up a party, but we've lost all our heavy hitters it looks like. Treppa's character is the only fighter left...not that we can't make that work, just something to keep in mind. I don't have a strong opinion either way on whether we should keep what we've got or recruit another couple players. I think it could work well either way.

I'd like to continue on with what we're doing. If we can get one more character in the party, I think we'll be good.

Sorry, I'm really only a lurker on Paizo these days. I don't get around as much online as I used to.

I've been crazy-go-nuts busy recently. Need to get the roof replaced, my wife got rear-ended by an uninsured motorist, had some kind of flu/cold bug for the better part of 4 weeks, and 30 year fixed rates are around 3.75% which means I'm quite busy at work as well. I've finally got my materials here at work and I'm hoping to update the thread before I leave for home tonight. (I kept wanting to post and realized that I've pretty well forgotten all the specifics of where you are now...)
I think that Tordek and Flash may be joining us soon.
Just wanted you all to know that I'm not dead yet...

Posted.
I may try and fit in smaller posts. There's actually a lot going on right now in the area -- but don't have time right now to fill it all in. Ask questions and I'll address that first.

Ok - Let me introduce Thoroar Silentall. Oread Fighter (Unbreakable) 8. Moff and company, feel free to offer any suggestions or changes. I'm looking forward to joining the campaign.

Kind of.
You are currently helping to rebuild the Guilded Hall on Arborea. The Guilded Hall was (arguably) the most beautiful building ever anywhere. It was so beautiful that beings from the lower planes cannot bear to look at it -- if they do, they need to save or die. This pretty well pisses them off, and there are the occasional raids to destroy it, but for the most part, the fiends don't even care to be here so there typically isn't enough of a concerted effort to matter. This changed with this force. All you know is that they arrived and started attacking the building. Once they were done, they still hung around but didn't seem to have much focus. (They're not acting like an invading force.)
The Guilded Hall is the home/headquarters of the "Sensates" -- a planar group dedicated to experiencing as much as possible. Alcohol, drugs, sex, pain, pleasure, fear, etc. -- if it can be felt, they want to experience it. The Guilded Hall is open to everyone, however, and many/most patrons are not part of that necessarily part of that factioin. It's just that many of the experiences people want to experience could be found here.
Right now, you both are helping rebuild the building -- an unnessary gesture as it is mending itself. But you know this. Probably more than anything, you feel as though you need to be here as many of the fighters perished and many have gone into the wilderness to meet up with others or to attack the fiends from other areas. Leaving few here to defend a broken building and people who don't seem to care what happens to them.
Any questions? (I'm sure that there are. I try to leave a fair amount open for you to ad lib. But let me know if you have any concerns, question, ideas, etc.)

Sounds good, I can work with this. I have two questions.
1) How did I get here? Did the fiends transport me here to aid in the hall's protection? If so, I will assume I agreed because I had a feeling that something needed me to be here when the time was right.
2) How long have I been here and do I know Flash's character?

The fiends didn't bring you here.
A few ideas...
You came here to enjoy the Guilded Hall yourself.
You came here with someone who wanted to enjoy the Guilded Hall.
you were "summoned" here through magical means and should have returned at this point but haven't yet. (This actually fits with the others' backgrounds.)
You're here as a mild form of "penance" for failing in some other task. (For a true neutral being, simply being here could be considered a form of punishment.)
There are odd and random things happening all over the planes. Perhaps something happened to something/someone you know and you are looking for it/them. Perhaps you were gardening and suddenly found yourself being attacked by fiends in a strange place.
By the way, what makes Thoroar N as opposed to LN?
Hope that helps...

Thoroar was summoned by someone to this Plane, but he is not sure who. At the moment he passes the time aiding in the protection and care of the guild hall and its patrons. However, since no one explicitly assigned him this task, he does not feel strongly bound by this purpose. The pleasures of the hall seem lost on him. He feels no affinity for anybody or anything here. He does have a nagging feeling that there is a greater purpose for him and that this journey starts in this location. Therefore, he waits patiently until his purpose finds him. In the meantime, while not fending off fiends trying to destroy the hall, he contents himself with keeping busy by trying to fix the hall faster than it can fix itself.
As far as True Neutral goes, Thoroar is solely motivated by achieving what ever task is assigned to him. He will crush anything or anyone who interferes with the achievement of that task. He does not see things as good or bad, order or chaos. Just as obstacles to the achievement of his appointed mission.

Ok, Thoroar is up. The group has been talking to you. (They just didn't know it yet.) I'll answer the most recent question and kind of introduce you and then I'll let you take off with it. If you have any questions about what you know or don't know -- feel free to ask but for the most part it's probably fairly safe that what you know is what your character knows.

I am around -- had some odd training today. I may post tonight but probably not until tomorrow morning. Sorry for the delay...
If anyone is still around, I just wanted to apologize for dropping the ball on this.
With the new job, I thought I had a handle on a schedule and thought I could do it, but I just couldn't make it happen. My job duties will be changing very soon and will probably be such that a reasonable "schedule" will be all but impossible. (On the plus side, my job duties will be changing soon because I now have a permanent position here.)
Just wanted to let people know that I'm sorry for not communicating better on this.
For what it's worth, it was a good experience for me and I really enjoyed the little bit we did do.
Kind of a long way to say -- I'm still around and plan on being around but don't think that I can commit to this project and wanted to give some closure to it. And thank you all for the opportunity.

Thanks for the update, Moff! I hope the new job is a good place for you, and understand completely about the game. Good luck!
My sentiments too. Also, if you decide to pick this back up, I'd love to continue on! I had a good time playing in your game, and I appreciate you letting do so.

Thanks for the update. I echo the sentiment already expressed, this is meant to be a fun activity not a second job. If you ever feel like picking up the game ahead let me know, I'll definitely participate. It sounded like a great adventure. But in the meantime, congrats on your job and good luck.
