I'm kind of in a "funk" right now. Not sure what's going on with me. Part of it is RL. I've got a lot to do at work. The VP just asked me to make some reports that essentially justify all our jobs here. Lots of fun.

Just a heads up -- I'll be around all day today but I'll be on vacation tomorrow through Sunday. Not sure yet what will be happening on Monday as it's a day off after a vacation -- may just use that day to recooperate (sp?). Anyway, hope everyone has a good long weekend as well.

When it comes time for Elysia's turn...what's the check to use a wand while grappled and what bonuses will Grease give me to my escape artist check? Cause I think that's my only hope of ever making it out of that grapple. :)

A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentrations check or lose the spell.

There's nothing in there regarding using a device. I'm ok with you having at least one hand "free" -- he's not really concerned with that. On one hand, I feel that you should have the item needed in hand but on the other hand, there is nothing in the grappled description that suggests you don't have access to pull something like material components for spell casting.

With regard to grease -- the spell description says that it will grant a +10 circumstance bonus to escape a grapple.

Any thoughts on pulling this off?

To cast a spell grappled is a DC of 10 + the CMB (?) + spell level. I don't feel that it's as difficult as casting a spell, so I'll probably take off the "10". A 3rd level wand shouldn't be more difficult to activate than a 1st level wand as far as straight activation. Which pretty well just leaves the "CMB". Which would make the DC 17 in this case. I think I'm ok with that unless anyone else wants to chime in with something different.

I'll let you use either Concentration or Use Magic Device -- whichever is better for you.

I could have sworn you don't have full actions available when grappled, but can't find it at all. Looks like she can do anything one-handed, like draw the wand, then attempt to trigger the spell.

Lyn, I think Elysia's CMD is wrong in her profile. It should be 10+3 (base) -1 (str) +3 (dex) -1 (size) +1 (ring of prot) +1 (ioun stone) base, plus any circumstances. So your base is +16, just FYI.

Your current Escape Artist to escape grapple is 16 (roll) +3 (your EA check) +2 (Pinna) +10 (grease) for 31, correct?

It's sometimes very hard to keep track of all the modifiers going into a CMD. We have trouble with that at the table, sometimes.

Treppa, thanks for pointing out the error. I hadn't realized I'd entered it into the profile wrong. Good thing I was going from the paper character sheet, but bad thing that the info didn't match. Fixing it now. :)

As for the escape artist roll....I haven't made it yet because that action happens the round after I cast grease. So when it does happen you're right about the modifiers. (1d20)+3+2+10. The only roll I made this round was a concentration check to be able to use the wand.

I will. I'm updating the "Story so far..." hoping that it will help remind people what's going on since things have been dragging a bit recently.

That makes him appear in person. Might want to be careful about that since you have kids who could be influenced by Uncle Uri.

I may have cleared my tracking prior to the Orrery fight. (That and I may not have counted a few hits because I was -- when I remembered -- giving an AC bonus from the machine.)

In any case, before the next encounter, "5" will help heal everyone to full if E and Lanwin can't or don't want to use too many spells...

EDIT -- "Cover" bonus -- I couldn't think of the bonus type.

Okay, I got Elysia all updated. Good grief her character sheet was a mess. The one in her profile was mostly all right, but the paper one I use as a reference was a freaking disaster.

"Uh, E... are you sure that's where we want to go?" Pinna reaches out and snags Sebastian's arm with her other claw. "Everybody grab the halfling!"

I'll wait a little bit to make sure that the other two (and a half?) are still with us and post more to get you all going either tonight or tomorrow.

Any thoughts on what I should do regarding Urizen? I don't think he's totally out of the picture yet. And I thought that he was enjoying it. Not quite sure what's going on there.
