Aeshuura |
Turok and Wrathmire notice you as you leave, it is up to them to make a comment or not.
As Wrathmire searches the rest of the living quarters, he finds a total of 15 gp (including the coins that he found in the first room) and several faded and deteriorating druid's robes that are faded colors reminiscent of the chromatic dragons.
In the kitchen and crypt, he finds nothing of value.
Kane Hue |
Turok does not care. In adventures league all treasure is divided up equally, so you can't just claim everything for yourself. And the cave is explored, so he is headed back anyway. Although, Turok may want to go with you.
As senn gets out of the room, Turok comes running out of the cave. Wait for me Turok shouts
We are adventures, we need to do this again, don't travel back to town with your companions?
Uriah Lewis |
Oh right. That's what we are. Good of you to give it a name. Uriah smirks
I would name us, bloodthirsty psychopaths or perhaps antisocial degenerates.
Ander Meliamne |
As people begin to grab valuables and leave, Ander quietly walks over to the wall of the room where Wrathmire left his note, and begins scratching something into the wall with the tip of an arrow.
Aeshuura |
The temple fully explored and cleaned out, the others eventually catch up to Sen. Some conflicts not fully resolved, a weight is still lifted from your shoulders as you look forward to completing your quest.
Perhaps an hour before sundown, you enter the town of Phlan, much like the day that you started this mission. People are bustling around, heading for their favorite tavern, or home, after a hard days' work.
The only question left is what to do with the relic. The Lord Sage offered 150 gp for anything extra that you find, but the more entrepreneurial types figure that with the right buyer, you could get as much as 300.
Senn |
Don't really care much one way or the other about the relic - It'd be nice to have it studied (for a fee, if you insist), but information is more important to Sen than money. Money is just a means to an end.
Heading for the Library to turn in the recovered book(s) to the Lord Sage. And to continue my research, unless a better opportunity comes along.
Ander Meliamne |
Ander will be trying not to think about what might happen with that relic out in the open market, and instead focusing on getting paid so he can be done with this job.
Wrathmire |
Let me check with some of my contacts to see if we can get a better price on the scale. I have some friends in this city...
Wrathmire takes the scale and heads off to find the best buyer.
And don't worry, I'll be back. Honor among thieves and such...
Urchin background benefit, also checking with the Zhentarim to see if they know a good buyer for the scale
Aeshuura |
Having sold the relic to a collector for 300 coin, and selling off the various trinkets, you all return to the Library to return the stolen tomes to the Lord Sage. A scribe takes you up to the Lord Sage, who seems to be poring over a sheaf of papers. He looks up at your approach and smiles when he sees the tomes in Sen's hands.
"You were successful!" he exclaims, but quickly regains his composure, but the smile never quite leaves his eyes, "And the thief? Has he been properly punished?"
Uriah Lewis |
Ander was most polite about it. Uriah begins But it seems our friend Spurnik wasn't taught that manners "maketh the man", as it were. he finishes with a shrug that says "eh, what can you do?"
Aeshuura |
The Lord Sage nods, "Well, the tomes were priority, but as promised..." He produces a box and places it on the table. Anyone who checks sees 15 gold bars worth 10 gp each.
The half-elf sage looks up inquisitively, "Did you ever discover what it was that he was looking for?"
Ander Meliamne |
"As a matter of fact, we did," Ander says. "He was trying to assemble a key to open a sealed door in some kind of dragon cave. His goal was an artifact called 'The Scale' which in theory would have let him try to influence an ancient red dragon, to who knows what end. We confirmed this by opening the chamber ourselves, and coming face-to-face with the undead remains of The Scale's previous wielders, who were apparently killed by the dragon and then cursed with undeath by The Scale."
"Anyway, while I was trying to work out a solution that would keep everyone safe while simultaneously sparing the region from any undead wrath, Godfrey picked a fight that got most of us injured, then took the artifact and sold it to the highest bidder. I plan to report all this to the authorities when we're finished here, in hopes of sparing Phlan from the dragonfire and/or undead uprising likely to result from Godfrey's gold-mongering self-interest."
Aeshuura |
The Lord Sage frowns, "Well, it was hard-won spoils so I have no say in what happens to it, but I sure would have liked to have seen it. I could have researched it and perhaps, I could have discovered its secrets and threats for you. Alas, it is out of my hands. At least it is out of the hands of Spernik and whomever he was working for..."
He stands and says with a half-smile, "Either way, you all did well and have my gratitude. Perhaps, I will approach you for future work. Though, I may lean more toward those of you that appreciate the written word a little more than others."
Aeshuura |
End adventure.
You may continue interpersonal RP here. I will post your logsheets in Discussion. Hopefully, by the end of today, or tomorrow at the latest. Thank you all for a grand, if not a little tumultuous, time! ^_^ I will post a recruitment thread for the next module, but I can't start for three weeks, when I get back from visiting my nieces and nephew!
Uriah Lewis |
Thank you for the game GM.
Aeshuura |
You are all most welcome! I hope that I put forth an adventure that was enjoyable to all of you!
Aeshuura |
I might run DDEX #01-01: Defiance in Phlan next, and run through in order from there, if the 2nd level characters would like to get an introduction to the various factions. :) What do you all think?
Aeshuura |
I was waiting so that everyone had a chance to pull their sheets, before it went defunct. :)
