Sir Adrian Fullbright |
Round 2, GWF, Divine Smite 2/2, Bardic Inspiration
Sir Adrian attacks the Wight with his Greatsword again, adding a prayer to Torm for a divine smite.
How about some healing, Godfrey?

GS Dam: 2d6 + 3 + 2d8 + 1d8 ⇒ (5, 6) + 3 + (6, 8) + (8) = 36
If he fails to connect, the divine smite is not triggered.
Ander Meliamne |
"NO!" Ander screams in frustration. Grabbing at his own hair with both hands, he stomps out of the room, fuming.
Not even using the Disengage action. Just walking.

Uriah whispers into his hand, fingers curled as if to hold the sound, then flings it at the wight. Skovac flinches slightly, but stands his ground.
As Ander turns and storms away, the mindless zombie claws at him catching the warrior along the side of the neck! Ander takes 4 hp.
Sir Adrian takes a swing, but fails to connect!

Yep, it's been noted.
Is there anywhere that I can place another shatter to get the BBEG and his minions without hurting anyone?
No, you will either hit Sir Adrian or both he and Turok. You may place it in the far corner and only hit Skovac, but you will not catch the zombies. Is that what you want to do?
Turok slices out the throat of his marked zombie and it falls to the floor, the stillness of death overtaking it. He strikes at the second zombie slicing a deep wound!
Wrathmire |
Wrathmire walks up and fires off a few bolts into the front line of zombies.

Hand Xbow Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Focusing on the right one, if it dies, Wrathmire will walk up and Action Surge and attack the boss, pulling out his silver scimitar
Aeshuura |
Wrathmire shoots a pair of quarrels, the first flying wide, the second digging deep in the zombie's chest!
The zombie is not quite dead. Do you still want to burn the action surge?
Ander Meliamne |
Ander goes and sits with his back to one of the pillars in the larger room, and puts his face in his hands.
Actually, I just had an idea. Would it be alright if I changed this action?
Ander turns back toward the gruesome scene and approaches, but his sword is still sheathed.
"This doesn't need to go like this!" he shouts sternly. Addressing Skovic, he says, "This isn't what all of us want! Defend yourselves from the aggressors, but please, spare the rest of us!"
Ander gestures in the general direction of Godfrey and Kane when mentioning the aggressors, then gestures toward himself, Uriah, Sen, and Sir Adrian when pleading for mercy.
Uriah Lewis |
That may not work...at least not for Uriah. He cast an aggressive spell...Adrian also hacked into the guy. But it was a good idea.
Eh. Well, that'll make for an interesting stanza in the Ballad of Sir Ander the Polite Uriah jokes
Sir Ander, he of noble word, did stop and ask forgiveness. The ragged dead he did forsooth regard in equanimity!
Ander Meliamne |
Maybe it would work if you changed targets to the guy who's using you as a meat shield against the consequences of his own actions? What are the AL rules on PvP?
Uriah Lewis |
No pvp. Besides, I wouldn't do that anyways. I'm more of a "make fun of everyone" kinda guy not a "kill everyone" kinda guy. Besides, I think our differences are primarily IC and I'd hate to make things personal ooc.

Ander barely steps back a step when Wrathmire fills his spot, he calls out to the wight. Skovac looks at the young guildsman a sad smile spreads across his face, just as lightning crosses the chamber slamming into the former druid! It stumbles back a step and growls, before giving a slight salute to Ander.
Skovac turns his attention to Sir Adrian, "It is a pity that you will not meet your precious god." The wight reaches out with its left hand, and Sir Adrian can feel the dark power radiating from the undead hand, but he slaps it aside with his blade! That opens up the paladin's defenses, and Skovac stabs Sir Adrian through the side! Sir Adrian, take 6 hp, since he was using the sword one handed. I believe that takes you to 1 hp?
The remaining zombies claw ineffectually at each of you! Okay, everyone may go!

Godfrey flexes his outstretched hand, the electricty visibly arcing over his muscled forearm. He tightens his grip and it causes the previous lightning to echo its message sent to Skovac earlier.

If the first shot drops the right zombie, the second shot will go to the one on the left. If not, both shots into the right zombie. If the right zombie dies from this, Wrathmire will pull out his silver scimitar and attack the wight.
Aeshuura |
Godfrey clenches his fist, cause the lingering lightning to flare up on Skovac again! With an unholy scream, he disintegrates to dust, leaving only a scrollcase and a necklace that falls to the ground with a clatter!
Uriah taunts the zombie left between Sir Adrian which seems to flinch, but remains! It seems unsteady on its feet, but then Wrathmire shoots it in the forehead!
Quickly reloading, the crossbowman shoots a second bolt at the adjacent zombie, catching it in the chest.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Waiting on Ander, Turok, and Sen. There are two zombies left. One on Turok that is damaged, and one on Godfrey and Wrathmire that only has been hit by one crossbow quarrel.
Wrathmire |
With a surge of action, Wrathmire shoots another bolt into one of the remaining zombies and then weaves between them to allow for more allies to join the fray.

Turok lops the head off of his zombie, the turns to see the last one on Godfrey.
Wrathmire hits the zombie yet again!
As Sen watches on, the zombie swings its clubbing arm at Godfrey again, but the undead druid fails to get through Godfrey's armor!
Ok, how do you guys want to do this? The zombie will be dead with any large damage, though peppering it will increase the chance that it activates its Undead Fortitude.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Uriah Lewis |
Uriah says End the undead menace forthwith, I have a tragic tale to write. The Tale of Sir Ander the Polite and how he was foiled by Bloodthirsty and deviant Adventurers.

If only the inspiration could apply to damage... These seem to be quite easy to hit!

Hand Xbow Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Hand Xbow Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Wrathmire keeps shooting at the remaining zombie sliding up next to the wall.
Aeshuura |
The zombie is rocked with two shots, but it still stands!
EDIT: I am just going to hand-waive this because with all of your attacks, you are bound to kill it this round or the next and it can't kill anyone in that time before getting dropped. Essentially the best chances to kill it are going to be Turok or Sir Adrian, unless Godfrey blasts it with a heavy hitting spell.
You eventually destroy the last of the undead and are now standing amidst a pile of bodies. Ander stands there with a look of sadness and disbelief in his eyes. The scale pulses once, twice, then dims as if it now knows that it has no more defenders at its beck and call.
Ander Meliamne |
"I'm more concerned concerned," says Ander, "About the friends who started heading that direction because of a fight that you picked. Tell me, oh wise cleric, which of your whims was worth our blood?"
Uriah Lewis |
"Ah, there's the Godfrey we know and...tolerate barely. " Uriah says mockingly
-Posted with Wayfinder
Godfrey Heinrich Donner |
Concerned, Concerend?!? You were about to release a scourge imprisoned here for centuries on the people of Phlan, I could not tolerate the evil that would persist. Instead, you talk to the damn thing working out a deal for it to continue to exist, be careful young one, power corrupts. He looks down at the pile of ash.
Kane Hue |
Turok grabs the shield. And do you say there were gems in the colums? Turok grabs those as well, unless they are far up, then he has to do some climbing.
Aeshuura |
Turok, the shield is actually the scale. It is the size of a kite shield. Wrathmire and Godfrey, it is hovering over the altar, but not too high. You both can move up and manually take it down without the need for a rope. As you touch it, you can feel the power emanating from the relic!
Ander Meliamne |
Ander scowls at Godfrey.
"You lying bastard. What idiot could hear me explicitly talking about locking them back in their room again and then think that meant I was going to set them loose in Phlan? Not even YOU could be THAT stupid. Fess up, what were you REALLY buying with our blood?"
Uriah Lewis |
Hmm. Best I leave that last sentence out of the song yeah...hard to fit "you lying bastard" in with my current rhyme scheme. However, I do think Lord Godfrey the Unmannerly is playing a bit fast and loose with the truth here. Uriah says
Sir Adrian Fullbright |
Come now, kids, let us remain on the same side, shall we? We really do all have the same goals regardless of our motivations. Ander, tjese ARE evil undead wr are dealing with. I commend your dlomatic skills, but they had to die again. There can be no argument that the world is a safer and better place without yhem shambling around in it.
Ander Meliamne |
Ander waves a hand at Sir Adrian and replies, "I'll leave it to the scholars to decide whether they were inherently evil or not; that's not the point. After all, even if we needed to destroy them, we might have been able to arrange a safer method than an unprepared brawl. Hell, the way things were going, we might have been able to get them to volunteer to be re-killed."
Glaring at Godfrey, Ander continues, "No, their eventual end is not the point. The point is that we weren't in danger until Godfrey got involved. The point is that he's willing to have us all bleed for him, and then lie about why he needed our blood. And most importantly, the point is that someone who will do that once will most assuredly do it again."
With a stern look into Sir Adrian's eyes, Ander says, "The living dead aren't the only evils that must not be allowed to roam free."
Godfrey Heinrich Donner |
Yeah, you looked like you were bleeding, pouting in that corner. If you were so concerned with the others well being pick up that damned sword! No one would have died the gods have favored me, and to a lesser extant you. Well, maybe not Boot-Licker.
If you think they would volunteer to be killed again your as dull as their pulse. They gave up their souls for the undeath. No, you providing the distraction enough to pull off the big blast was the best course of action. Hey! maybe that can be our plan from now on. YOu do the talky thing and then boom, and everyone else rushes in, to hack up the rest of the pieces.
Uriah Lewis |
I'll do no such thing. Uriah says I volunteer you to do the hacking, and being hacked, part.
Ander Meliamne |
"Yeah, the next time you're desperate for a fight, Godfrey, you can have it all to yourself."
Ander closes his eyes for a moment of thought, then says, "Okay, moving on: does anyone have the means to figure out what exactly this undeath-inducing 'scale' actually does?"
Senn |
Sen watches this debate in silence, alternately rolling her eyes and shaking her head at each participant's statements. This is rediculous. Why can't they all admit that each has a point, agree to disagree, and move on? Perhaps I should leave this collection of individuals once we have claimed the Lord Sage's reward. I'm getting tired of this petty bickering.
On second thought, why bother waiting for them at all? The danger here has clearly bee eradicated; perhaps I should take my chances alone on the road...
Sen turns away from the argument, quietly gathers her things and any loose items that seem useful or valuable, and silently begins to leave. stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 to slip away unnoticed
Aeshuura |
I believe that Turok and Wrathmire notice Sen pack her things silently and leave the room.
Kane Hue |
"Yeah, the next time you're desperate for a fight, Godfrey, you can have it all to yourself."
Ander closes his eyes for a moment of thought, then says, "Okay, moving on: does anyone have the means to figure out what exactly this undeath-inducing 'scale' actually does?"
We take it back to town and ask.
also, about those gems in the columns you mentioned? Do we get them easily, or do we have scrape them out, climb up or make any checks? If so, Turok will do that.
Aeshuura |
No climb check necessary, but the stone is aged and beginning to weaken, especially around the thinner portions (such as the legs). A few portions fall, but thankfully none that you are using to support yourself.
Turok scrambles up each of the pillars in turn, and finds that each of the heads has a pair of eyes that are made of a type of gemstone that corresponds to the color of dragon (onyx, lapis lazuli, jade, garnet, and topaz.) Each gem is worth about 2 gp for a total of 30 gp.
