My group of players is having problems figuring out how the spell haste will effect players with two weapon fighting can anyone give me some ideas? The spell description from 4th to 5th printing changes so what is the best way to deal with this problem?
It does not matter how many weapon are you wielding. Haste only give you one extra attack.

When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation.
You pick one of your weapons. You get an extra attack at your highest attack bonus with it. Just one attack with one weapon, easy choice if you have one weapon, not so easy if you have 5 natural attacks. That make sense?

They updated it from "Weapon you are holding" to "natural attack or manufactured weapon".
All this means is you can now use haste on your pet wolf to allow it to bite one extra time, or on a monk to get one extra punch with his empty fist, etc. It also seems to prohibit making one extra touch attack with a magic spell (e.g. Chill Touch) since that is neither a natural attack nor a manufactured weapon.
It didn't change the effect, so you still get one extra attack as long as you take the Full Attack action - you can choose whatever attack you're capable of making with a natural attack or a manufactured weapon".

So it pretty much screws any characters that chews to fight with two weapons if you use the fifth printing rules.
How so? You get an extra attack at your highest attack bonus. So does a character with natural attacks, or one with two handed weapons. Two weapon fighting doesn't do exactly half damage with one weapon or anything.

There was no change with regard to two weapon fighting. It still only grants 1 additional attack when taking full attack option. The change was just to a clarification that it worked with natural weapons rather than just held weapons.

In the fourth printing it said a weapon in your hand so a player with two weapons one in each hand should get the extra attack. Why was it changed in the fifth printing?
A weapon is singular? Nothing changed, it was just clarifying that a natural attack could benefit too. Haste has been like that since 3.5. You get one additional attack with a weapon of your choice that you have at the moment at your highest attack.

I believe the OP thought the 4th Ed printing meant "one extra attack with each held weapon" rather than just "one extra attack total".
It has always meant just one extra attack, period. The updated wording now just allows natural weapons and monks to benefit from the spell. It took nothing away from two-weapon fighters.
