Mm... shows how different people see artwork differently, as I find the tiefling mediocre at best.

But the various previews make me happy otherwise! I'm looking forward to getting the book!

Looks like Lineage is the "heritage" for versatile heritages.

So stuff like pitborn and devil for tieflings and Archon for Aasimar will most likely be feats with the Lineage trait.

Dhampirs get negative healing. That seems like a big deal in 2E, rendering a lone Dhampir a little difficult to play and making an all-Dhampir party super dangerous against non-undead.

So it looks like they're distinguishing between different types via a "lineage" trait on some ancestry feats? Guessing the trait has special rules saying you can only have a single lineage feat on a character.

Also somewhat sad there doesn't seem to be any feats for actually drinking blood (which would be the #1 reason for me personally wanting to play one).

Seeing 4 dhampir harming font clerics go through an AP could be entertaining.

My prediction is that you will be happy. They are fun, cool, and have some unique abilities, but they aren't a quantum leap above a normal familiar like in PF1 where my lyrakien familiar was capable of literally upstaging PC characters with a weak enough build (and she outperformed me pretty handily in direct output, but I was buffing the team so I still put out more indirect output).

I am most curious about the General class archtypes - Archer and Armored Sentinel are mentioned - and seeing how they interact with General or Ancestry feats used to pick up different weapon or armor proficiencies. Especially in terms of eventually progressing beyond Trained in those proficiencies with adequate investment.

This all looks really cool.

My bet is that is works like the Red Mantis and Aldori Duelist, where have the weapon or armor as the prerequisite to enter the archetypes and the dedication by itself gives the scaling.

So many!

I am really keen to see what the Focus Spell for the Ranger is, I have a level 1 Rivethun Raptor Ranger in Society so hoping that he can lean a bit more into the magic aspects of the Rivethun background (my current plan was to get trick magic device but a focus spell of his own would be awfully nice!)

I am also very excited to see the new bloodlines for the sorcerer, which has been my favourite class all the way from 3.5, but bloodlines added a whole new, exciting element when it was introduced and I love how they working 2e.

I kind of want to rebuild my monk I’m currently playing now, and use the Dhampir lineage as an addition to him. I mean, he’s Nidalese already...


A Tiefling Ratfolk Assassin Beast Master Eldritch Trickster Rogue adopted by Catfolk

Champion is one of my favorite classes, so I am excited to mix it with the new archetypes and see the new options the good causes gets together with the evil ones.

I wonder if Cleric will have a new Doctrine there as well.

And about Sorcerer if you want to know.

These all sound like fun so far! I think the APG will have a bunch of goodies that help out with these concepts, for sure.


I'm hoping to create something along the lines of the PF1 Psychic Detective or Questioner. My original plan was Investigator/Wizard MC, but now I'm thinking that using Witch MC and going with the Primal or Occult traditions might be more interesting.

One of my favorite 5e characters is a Goblin Fighter Arcane Archer named Gibbert, who fell into a wizard's runoff and managed to crawl his way out using a broken staff. After that he developed strange magical powers, and turned the staff into a bow. I'm really looking forward to seeing how he shapes up for pathfinder! Between Archetypes being valid for multiple classes and Eldritch Archer allowing any type of magic I feel like I have a lot more freedom in how I design him, and I might end up reworking his backstory for a different combination. Maybe he fell into a baptismal pool and ended up terribly, terribly clean. Maybe he fell into a pile of tentacles and...well, never mind. There are just so many possibilities!

I went back and read more closely. Really curious to see how the latter story telling mechanics work. The wits to avoid attacks is intriguing, wondering if that’s a tie into Study a suspect granting a bonus to defenses or intelligence/wisdom as a defensive stat or something else entirely. Hypeeee.

Those are indeed two great archetypes from Stephen Radney-MacFarland and some rocking class options from Michael Sayre. Though in the latter case, the name "zen archer" is a bit of a mismatch for the principles of kyudo, picked up from the book Zen and the Art of Archery, so the name is something else.

The article has the release date as June. Is this a typo or has it been moved up?

I am excited about creating a Shadow Dancer - not sure of base class yet.

I am super curious about the bloodline powers for the new bloodlines and how the flavour could affect the character, especially curious about Psychopomp and Shadow bloodlines.

Ultimately so much of what is in here will be great as a GM to flesh out missing character concept support that has been missing in PF2e for my 20yr old homebrew world that started with 3rd ed dnd so seeing many of those old staples coming back is super exciting.

I am excited to see if any changes were made to the oracle including some support for mitigating or otherwise compensating for curses so for things like 'clouded vision' options for improving your other senses to compensate.

Also super excited to see if Patrons were given any real mechanical fleshing out and support other than just flavour text for a first lesson.

You could always make a shadow bloodline sorcerer shadowdancer with a shadow relic from the GMG for all the shadows.

From what we've seen so far (thought actually reading it could totally change everything) I'm most exited about making a Dragon disciple, dragon barbarian Kobold. I hope all those things work well together!!

I think you're going to find some sweet support for building that thanks to some great entries from John Compton and Logan Bonner.

Ranger/Shadowdancer as an assassin, with the ability to mark my target with hunt prey, and flurry using Fighting Fans, so that I can teleport with ease (assuming the shadow jaunting stuff is a thing) in darkness to nova down specific targets, it's my take on a ninja.

My group is going to be using Free Archetype too, so it should be pretty fleshed out, not sure about Ancestry yet, I was actually considering Goblin as a possibility because of their role in my setting's 'eastern' themed locations.

I think the first thing I’m going to do is make the medieval avengers of a city in a home brew.

Iron Man alchemist, scarlet witch witch, Warpriest Thor, Monk/Fighter Captain America all with the vigilante archetype. Fingers crossed.

And probably a run at Peter Pan now that the Shadow Dancer is back :)

On this note, are there new Alchemical Research Fields, Barbarian Instincts, Clerical Doctrines and and Druidic Orders in the offing?

Always thought it odd that Clerics only had two doctrines when most other classes had at least three 'sub-class' choices (excluding Fighter and Monk)

Well now I won't be able to sleep until I get my hands on this book!! I'm not going to drill you for questions (I hate when posters dogpile on a dev just dropping in to say hi) but I'm also very much looking forward to seeing what you worked on/what you're most excited about. Not to suck up but you're my favorite dev, ever since I discovered kineticist I've always looked for your work!

Edit - I mean I look forward to a hopefully coming youtube/twitch stream where you guys talk about it

With the options in APG, I'm tempted to rebuild the first character I ever made to compare experiences (Changeling Witch w/Fairie Dragon familiar).

Also interested in finally getting a chance to try out an Investigator since they seemed fun in PF1, but I never got a chance to take a stab at them. Maybe run an Investigator with the Vigilante archetype to double down on social-style shenanigans.

Not to mention that with Vigilante being an archetype, I think it's finally time to consider running a full Vigilante Campaign by giving everyone in the Party the Vigilante archetype for free. Since players could apply it on top of any class, it'd allow more variety than than if I tried such in PF1. (And with 40 archetypes in APG, it'll be interesting to see what other fun "Everyone gets Archetype X" campaign ideas there could be.)

Finally, since I'm homebrewer... I've been waiting for APG before I start trying to convert some of my own setting's ideas into PF2. In particular, I have a number of custom Witch patrons I want to see how I'll be able to incorporate - such as a Patron Deity of Witchcraft, a Devil-run Witchcraft pyramid scheme, a Draconic Patron ruling the demiplane of dreams along with a Nightmare Patron who opposes them, a creepy Occult Hivemind which is trying to found its own nation, etc.

I'm excited to have my players make their characters more official, as I have one person playing a tiefling sorcerer and another playing a catfolk witch (homebrewed the heritage and ancestry for them).

As for myself, I'm really interested in playing a dhampir, unsure about ancestry. I have an idea for a monk that makes full use of their fangs for combat and keeps their hands open for grappling.

Alternatively, dhampir goblin snake barbarian to go all in on the big teefers.

EDIT: Also, Oracles are super interesting to me narratively. I loved the "Positive energy gushes out of me but I can't take much healing" aspect of Life Oracles.

I've got my eye on a kobold tiefling diabolist of some sort. I'm hoping that the APG will round out the divine list a bit so that an infernal Sorcerer works for me for that, but Bard, Witch, and Wizard are all waiting in the wings.

Also, I plan on taking Familiar Master on a lot of different characters.

I’m looking forward to the divine witch in my GM’s home brew setting. Very faithful and can be confused for a priest but those in the know might find her source questionable. Should be fun in a world where magic is not always legal.

I want to try out those new rogue rackets. I love gambling characters that play dangerously and opportunistically. Getting a few more rackets to theme my base chassis around before picking up archetypes based off what happens during play is my preferred play style. I want to see a shift in direction in play, and all of the options are going to let me do that.


Since at this point I'm just throwing together a few of my favorite things, I think I'm going to get a Goblin Dhampir Witch with a Rogue Mastermind Dedication to work. Backstory being they (haven't settled on gender yet) are a manipulative witch doctor style leader of a goblin tribe. I also have an Aberrant Bloodline Bloodrager character from 1e that I'm always on the lookout to "port" more accurately to 2nd edition.

I missed the part about the Rogue rackets. Eldritch Trickster is intriguing. It sounds like a cross between Eldritch Scoundrel and Arcane Trickster.

Depending on how much changed from the playtest for the final Flames theme, I remember the playtest version lined up extremely well for a Ghost Rider type character with some extra flavoring, and I'd love to give that a shot with the final version.

A vigilante ranger or rogue sounds like a fun Robin Hood character, though certainly the original character didn't exactly hide his identity, there's some related fun to be had there.

Perhaps a dhampir of any class could find value in hiding their face, and a dhampir vigilante in general could be very interesting.

I'm currently playing a sorcerer iruxi with the aberrant bloodline for Extinction Curse, giving the GM room the play with my character's future that perhaps something much more specific and eldritch is calling to my character from the void. Including reflavoring some spells. For example, my character's Sound Burst actually summons a small piece of the void within the burst range of the spell for a fraction of a second. Long enough to create a vacuum, and the resulting damage is actually from the resulting rush of air and sonic boom as the vacuum is refilled. All of this is to say, I bet a similar character idea could be recontextualized as a witch with the occult spell tradition really well.

Of course, my love of all things dragon also means I can't wait to see the specific feats for the dragon disciple and just apply it.....everywhere, lol.

I'm noticing in 2E that some of the best parts of my characters are coming organically as the campaign progresses, so the rest I'm not sure yet. Often specific flavor text of certain options are what can really spark my ideas for what kinds of characters that might fit, so when the book comes out is when I'll really start cranking out characters.

Though speaking of specific flavor text, I do enjoy seeing multiple elements of vampiric lore represented in their feats. Hell, potentially being able to transform into both a wolf and a bat (or bat swarm) is fantastic on its own. I can easily see the idea of a character who's experiences lead them to lean fully into it and really only take ancestry feats from the dhampir list, but for that type of long-term progression, I think I'd let the natural journey of the character through the campaign ultimately decide that.

I hope we get to see some artwork for the different lineages too!
