Anybody got any guesses?

Last time Paizo did something like this, it was the Oblivion Oath announcement. Is Paizo's Twitch channel getting an in-house Starfinder game?

What's the context? I apparently missed something :P

On their FB page, there is a post that is just the date with the usual Starfinder font and background. So far that’s all we know.

Maybe an Additional Resources update for Society, considering the last one was December 7, 2018?

Starfinder doesn;t generally do fanfare about something that non society players would say "the what?" when it came up

12.16

So many rulebooks already planned for next year... maybe a module?

Huge FAQ update?

I'll grant you that; it's mostly my wishful thinking.

I have heard rumors that we're getting it before Christmas, though.

Owlcat's already busy with 1e Pathfinder again, though...

My guess is something to do with Lisa's comment 55 minutes into the Future of Paizo seminar at PaizoCon 2019 about a way to play RPG's that has never been done before.

BigNorseWolf wrote:

That's old news already. Though I bet vehicles will only be included in Armory 2.

BigNorseWolf wrote:

Would they go back to tiny rulebooks like in PF 1?

--/--

I'd like some Starfinder Tales, with all those short fiction blog posts that have been going on recently - but it's probably either comics or a new in-house podcast/twitch thing about Starfinder.

Or a Starfinder version of the card game, if it isn't there already.

A FAQ would be the most shocking and useful announcement.

Starfinder card game.

Starfinder board game, Gloomhaven style.

Starfinder online.

Starfinder... Tales? Choose your own SF? I'm running out of speculation here

I think it will be either some kind of video game adaptation or a Tales like series myself. Regardless, I can't wait! :D

My Pretty Pony as a playable race?

maybe a 3d version of roll 20?
or a version of roll 20 that automatically integrates your character and the adventure?
RoboDM ?

This is my guess. We know the summer Pathfinder AP, but the summer Starfinder AP is still under wraps.

That said, the more I think about it, the more I think it's just gonna be another actual play show, ala Oblivion Oath.

I've watched enough isekai to know where this is headed.

I don't like that the sound of that. Protagonists in that genre are usually CREEPAZOIDS.

Wayfinders

A wildcard guess, but hey, might as well - a virtual reality tabletop (built for Starfinder), made in tandem with another company like the Pathfinder cRPGs have been (with Owlcat).

That would certainly count as "biggest news of the decade" and "a totally new way to play RPGs", but it would also be pretty...odd.
(On top of other potential issues such an idea poses, if anyone who's been paying attention to online discourse surrounding Half-Life: Alyx would know. Then again I'm kind of a VR skeptic so...)

I am personally hoping for a module line...there is a gap in the Starfinder lines there.

The more I think about it, a digital tabletop a la roll20, built exclusively for SF, is likely. Possibly with a roboGM built in

Wayfinders

A book with all the starship designs and some new ones?

Robogm? As in, an automated gamemaster? As in, I can play it alone, just need to make a dungeon or something? I'd be totally up for that. At least then I can finally make a testrun.

Personally, I hope it's either a complete errata for all existing SF products currently available (Including COM) OR a racebuilder, similar to the one for Pathfinder 1e. I really hope its a racebuilder, I have a mighty need to populate my galaxy with all sorts of weird aliens and robots. I played a lot with the one featured in Pathbuilder 1, making all sorts of races. But for starfinder, its even more important. Especially for robots. One can only hope.

They've added the tagline "A New Way Forward."

Maybe it's just the official announcement of the new First Seeker?

Shisumo wrote:

That would be alright, but it might miff some people, after all this hype. But it is the motto of the Second Seekers.

Also, I just noticed the five dots and circles on the top of the image. I wonder what's up with that.

I wouldn't mind a new free quest pack. :)

My money is on a seeker announcement, so nothing really spectacular for us who don't play society.

Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo)

They did that about 2 weeks ago. All hail our glorious leader Ehu Hadif Ko'Ra Amares and pack your card catalogs and fire extinguishers for the library planet of Anetheririum.

Tales from the gap. Comes with a gallon of crown royal you drink while playing for the true "Where's my planet" experience

Grand Lodge

This is driving me nuts!

Second Seekers (Roheas)

If its just another actual play podcast, this time with Joe Pasini instead of Buhlman I will laugh and laugh because all that hype for all that nothin.

My thought is that with the "New Way Forward" thing it feels like a major change in content delivery - official FG/Roll20 support for APs perhaps.

Or some kind of new content partnership - Starfinder's take Gloomhaven would be a cool example of what that kind of thing is.

Well the hype is our own, not Paizo's.

Its probably just Ehu becoming officially officially the first Seeker and Second Seeker (Ehu Hadif) faction being a thing

If that's what's going on that could be cool, but it would not be consistent with the comments by Paizo (and non-Paizo) staff/freelancers/etc I've seen.

a fellow at my gaming group suggested a 5E Compatible Core Rulebook for Starfinder. but he's playing a space goblin in power armor, so...

the other suggestion was a playtest of starship combat options & alternate rules.

I don't think the second one would really fit well, but I could see the first one potentially. It would live up to the tagline and the comments that have been made, and I could see it doing well too o.o

When Bethesda studios did something similar, we the train wreck known as Fallout 76.

In the past, December 16th was hailed as the worst birthday of the year, but both Jane Austen and Arthur C. Clarke were born then, so it wasn't all bad.

Hmm

Maybe its an announcement of more 3 part or even a 9 part AP? Or possibly a CRPG considering Kingmakers release and WotW coming.

Dark Archive

If its biggest rpg related news, it could be some sort of partnership announcement yeah. I mean Paizo making new setting, new system or multiple APs wouldn't be "biggest RPG news in decades" but if they suddenly started to work with Wizard of the Coast or something, that would be weird .-.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Look.

If it means mindflayers in the Dominion of the Black, that would be the biggest RPG news in decades, so far as I'm concerned.

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Well it is for fact that Wizards doing cross over with another company WOULD be biggest news since have you heard of them doing that in a decade at least? xD
