I can expand the background more but I don't know whats going on that far in the adventure path unless I get into the game! I kept it flexible and simple but if chosen will happily tweak and adjust it to suit the game.

Doing a bit of summoning and buffing. I am intentionally avoiding long range teleportation spells and scrying as the adventure paths in my experience don't handle it well and I don't want to add work for the GM. That said I'm not ignoring those things, making sure to be packing things like dimensional anchor, nondetection and mage's private sanctum to mitigate those things being a problem for the group. Unseen crew seemed too much fun to ignore! I think there is a skeleton crew somewhere but didn't spot it in my travels making the character.

Background and Ideas for Linking in:

Samuel is the bastard son of a noble born Chellish naval officer and a Varissian woman native to Korvossa. Already having a wife and family in Chelliax the officer quietly kept generous sums of money coming towards his mistress and their illegitimate son. He was also kind enough to pull some strings to have the boy tutored and given admittance into the prestigious Acadamae.

Samuel was an apt student and saw it as his way of getting what he deserved but was denied due to the circumstances of his birth. He considered several options but then things changed. His father and mother were killed at the behest of a political rival, the scandalous conditions of which left a few assasins coming after him from his own half brother back in Chelliax!

Samuel sold off his mothers belongings to fund his flight away from Korvosa but a plan began to form… a little revenge and balancing of the scales would be in order but he needed time to develop his abilities. A lawless land far from Chellish influence would be needed.

Ideas for linking in:
-One of the big bads of the campaign is the political rival responsible for his father’s death, or an ally of the person responsible. Or maybe they are members of his father’s family.
-Samuel could be seeking a potent repository of arcane knowledge or magic item to destroy his foes.
-Establishing a power base and making competent allies.

Okay, I done it. Numbers and backstory both.
It was a tough assignment!

The backstory is probably a bit longish. But I wanted to tie together why he's a pirate and some of the game mechanics bits as well.

The spoiler below is a bit long-winded.
It's a summary of why I chose the stuff I did for my character.
Just so you can have a look at what I might have to alter.

Let me know if there's anything I should change, alter, or not use.

Some Notes & STUFF:

I used some material from the [u]Bastards of Golarian[/u] player companion. Namely:
• Frostkin half-orc heritage
• Unflinching Valour; the racial trait for Frostkin that replaces Intimidating

I've tried building Gôlgast as dexterity based for combat.

I took his first two levels as a Corsair fighter archetype from [u]Pirates of
the Inner Sea[/u]. It's thematic and gives him better BAB and a much better
fortitude save than a level 10 magus would normally have. The deck fighting
ability of that archetype is also pretty cool; getting cleave without its AC
penalty.

Magus is the favoured class for Gôlgast, of course. And each level of Magus, I
took the Favoured class bonus of +¼ Arcane Pool. Which gives him 9 uses per day
of that limited resource, instead of 7.

Eight levels of magus also gives Gôlgast two important abilities:
• Ability to use spellstrike at any time, not just while in Mystic Focus
• Use of an 8d6 breath weapon once per day.

I also made his Craft (carpentry) in the double digits. That way he will be a
valuable asset to a ship's crew for repair work. And gave him a decent Use Magic
Device skill, mostly for being able to use cure spell wands easily.

For his gear, I was focusing on lightweight.

As for the weapons Gôlgast has:
• +1 composite longbow (Trebus); for decent ranged firepower
• +1 keen cutlass (Halespet); good crit range is a boon for Spellstrike!
• +1 corrosive boarding axe (Pongel); extra damage because of the low crit chance
• +1 spell storing brass knuckles (Jek); with Shocking Grasp, small weapon that can make for a nasty surprise!
• Because of Gôlgast's eldritch pool ability, these can all be beefed up as needed
• Gôlgast's arcane abilities should provide most of his devastating combat 'oomph'
• I also named the weapons just because I could (for fun)

Swapped out haste for major image since Jane and Marnir like to cover haste and illusions are soooo flexible and cool.

Also changed the background a bit since I don't have a peg leg anymore. Don't want to step on Kung's lack of toes. XD Added a little description at the end of the background too, in case you're curious. Nothing essential that really changes the submission.

We're all eager to hear the result! Lots of cool submissions indeed.


I'm currently working on my elderly trickster/diviner Wizard.

In terms of personality, she's old, grumpy, and actually almost creepy. She states that she had spent an age away from those she could call friends, and wishes to feel the breeze upon her old crone face. She is frigid but fiercely protective of that which she claims is hers, including of those who show her kindness ("My friends will not die by your hand as long as I live").

Her backstory can be summarized as being raised as a sea-witch, before fleeing and traveling as a witch on various ships for the last hundred years. Recently, she had been left on the Isle of the cyclopes, where her crewmates were captured and eaten alive. The only reason she was kept alive for the last 20 years is because she was a skilled Diviner, and was kept alive to help young cyclops see fate.

In appearance, she looks closer to a hag or a Witch than a Wizard. Clothing bog green, a hunchback, with fingers that look as long as your arm. Her skin is ragged, looking almost like it's melting as you see her.

In terms of mechanics, she's designed to be flexible and versatile- She's basically an arcane toolbox who can prep most of her stuff in 15 minutes time (Faster if necessary). With more divinations in her spellbook than a Seer, her Spontaneous Casting allows her substantial enough Battlefield Control.
With her Samsaran Magic, she took a hopefully equal number of mechanically useful spells (Arcane Concordance, Coordinated Efforts, Bard's Escape), and a few fluffy hopefully fluffy spells (Gallant Inspiration described as a curt comment, Freedom of Movement, and Damnation of Memory).

In terms of utility, along with her Shadow Conjuration/Evocation/Silent Image, she can pass personal ranged buffs through two teamwork feats, which she shares via Bonded Mind/Share Spells. She then shares the feats via the Ring of Tactical Precision, or the Coordinated Efforts feat.

Background:
Alaros is from a background of elven nobility and magic. He studied for decades at the renowned Arcanamirium in Absalom. Where he garnered a reputation as a rebel and troublemaker. Likely due to his ability to become bored exceptionally quickly. Despite this he was renowned for his adept use of evocation magic, and, his more than flashy performances when using it. Eventually, deeming it no longer worth his time, and due to family and personal reasons he left the Arcanamirium.

2. While he wouldn’t call himself a pirate, he has no qualms about traveling with pirates if it would meet his end. He rather admires the pirate life, mostly. If only in regard that they do what they want, when they want to. They aren’t held back by morals when it comes to the nitty gritty, and they know how to have fun. Alaros is seeking an artefact of legend that once belonged to his family. He has nothing but stories to go on, so is unsure whether it is truly real or not, but it’s a good reason for him to travel without hindrance from his family. He figured that a good place to check around would be here, since his searches in other, more lawful cities had proved fruitless.

Personality Traits:
1- Eccentric, He bores easily unless the subject at hand involves some type of magic. Or certain types of physical exertion Particularly dangerous magic.
2- He detests stuffy noble practices. He sees it as simply a waste of time and an attempt to make themselves feel superior to others. Which he doesn’t need to -feel- because he already just IS superior to most. He does however, enjoy clothes with flair and often wears fancy outfits or robes
3- mid length white/platinum hair, piercing green eyes. And stands at 6’ 4”, while not muscled, he is decently toned and in shape. His features are sharp, even for an elf.
4- He acquired a taste for the violin and plays it rather well.
5- He enjoys the wind on his face. Another of his peculiar traits as he always studied outside, rather than inside during his time at the Arcanamirium.
6- Has been known to trick and lie to seek his own gain.
7- Goes out of his way to make his magic more elaborate and flashy than is necessary to show off.
8- Considers himself superior to anyone he meets, even other elves. Though there are a few exceptions, and those he spends time around come to realize he truly doesn’t mean insult, its just how he is.
9- Doesn’t like to plan a lot. Who needs to plan when you can just blow your problem up?
10- Has a scar on his left cheek from a magical mishap when he was younger. It nearly killed a friend of his, and he doesn’t like to talk about it.
11- Is willingly to accept almost anyone as an “apprentice” however, he isn’t a very good teacher.
12- A lot of his bravado is to cover a fear growing within him. He Seeks to be renowned, to be remembered. For he fears dying and fading away to obscurity, he fears that it may truly be for naught. But refuses this fear.

And after some rather agonizing deliberation I've finally selected Vrog Skyreaver's Madeline 'Maddy' Heberne for the party spot.

It wasn't easy making this choice, in fact there were so many good characters put forward I'm reluctant to lose the players who spent their time and ingenuity making them.

I'm running a number of games now, but could squeeze in another. I can't run anything from Strange Aeons on, but can do most of the previous AP's.

If you still wish to play in a game of mine put forward two AP's you'd like to play and we'll see what we get? We'll do a closed recruitment for a party of six or seven caharacters.

No I don't have Way of the wicked, but can run Giant-slayer and Carrion crown.

I've played Giant-slayer but never Carrion crown. I'm curious about the first. As a player I found it a railroad at times. But since running PBP games have noted that some games that play well live don't translate well to PBP and vice-versa. It would be a good one for a larger party.


Thanks for the consideration! I agree that it's very generous of you to offer to run more stuff for us. I'd be really interested in Skulls & Shackles (though you probably don't want to run another one) or Kingmaker (I'd be happy to help manage the book-keeping for this). That said, Rorek's options sound great too.


I should have mentioned I'm running Iron gods & Kingmaker at the moment, along with Skull and shackles. I'm not interested in another Kingmaker game, but if enough of you wish I can start another S&S or IG.


Totally understandable. :) Then my first choices would probably be S&S or Carrion Crown but I'm not too picky.

That is what I fear the most, as most games start at level 1 and take a long time to reach level 4 or 5, then they slow down or die. GM_DBH, though, seems to accomplish an excellent time/play ratio (from what I've spied), so I'm quite willing to try his GM Fu :P

One thing, while I do say decide among yourselves what class you'll be, don't worry to much about having to be a particular role for the game. Make what you think will work best for you.
