Got a new guide:

On Skin Changing: Being a Most Concise and Helpful Guide to the Noble Arts of Wild Shaping and Polymorphing

discussion thread

A handy how-to guide for using wild shape or other polymorph abilities/spells. Not an optimization guide exactly -- more focused on helping people work through all the changes that need to be applied when they're changing shape.

Basically core only -- it refers to a couple of spells from other sources by name, but the discussion is focused on the core mechanics of changing shape.

I'd like to offer my guide on animal companions for non-druids for inclusion in the guide to the guides.

I am having trouble saving/printing these guides (specifically the anti-paladin guide). Am I just a moron, or do other have this issue?

Some of the guides could be in Google Docs and locked to prevent copying. This can sometimes prevent you from printing the guides as well. Best bet is to simply highlight and copy/paste to a new document or something to that effect.

Why does Revel have a 10int minimum on his Monk guide? He literally does not refer to it once.

clockworkjim,

Thank you for your interest in my guide. :)

It is true that I have the guide locked to prevent downloading, but I did not realize that would prevent you from printing the guide. At the present time, the guide is incomplete and I would prefer to make the guide much more complete before allowing downloading.

I have a new one too: Magic in the Blood: A guide to Sorcerer Bloodlines
It's not finished but is getting pretty close, so I figured I'd start to get feedback from people.

I find it really odd that one of the most iconic classes, the cleric does not have anything post-APG.

Since then severl books have changed everything.

You should write that. I'd be very interested to read it.

Heh, I appreciate the support.

Sadly Writing a guide is a daunting task, and even moreso for a mega class like Cleric.

Don't let it daunt you. Just do what you can. Do you think anyone else could do more than that?

It might be best to break it up. Warrior cleric, spellcasting cleric, demon fighter, etc.

The class can be bent in a lot of directions.

Or just pick an area that's missing from the previous cleric guides and focus on that. ie "A guide to stuff from Ultimate Magic that's useful for clerics" or something like that.

Yep, that's how I did it, I noticed that there was a lot more that could be said about sorcerer bloodlines, so that's what I've done! I'm almost done that, by the way, only two more regular bloodlines and the two racial ones to go!

...I just need to reread my Barbarian guide to see if I forgot anything and to ensure there isn't any additional information that needs to be put in it, and then I should have a thread up for it.

BTW, I've added my guide to the d20pfsrd.com site, so that it'll be accessible to more people. Here's that link:

You're going to need to allow permission to see it before anything else though.

Sczarni

Are there any restrictions or requirements on how or where a guide can be uploaded? Most of the ones I've read are Google Docs, but are there other similar services for text uploading? Or is each writer on his or her own?

Just FYI, the Arcane Archer guide links to an Arcane Trickster guide.

Dot and a bump :-).

Damn, we need an updated guide for Rogue and Bard!

The updates aren't quite done yet, but the oracle guide Channeling the Cosmos now contains applicable data from the Advanced Race Guide.

TreantMonk did this by writing some of the most accessible guides of 3.5 and later Pathfinder.

I've yet to read a guide here that doesn't specifically call him out.

Anything for the Court Bard?

Just a note that the cleric guide I posted added Ultimate Magic AND Ultimate combat so in a sense the first post is out of date. However I refuse to go past the core books (and am dragging my feet adding the ARG for various reasons).

As far as "change everything"?

Not as much as you might think. Communal spells are interesting but many of them are a touch situational already.

Right now my favorite thing to come out of the Ultimate line is the Evangelist archetype which I'm having an absolute blast playing a cleric of gorum out of. Rage Domain, Divine favor, and inspire courage make for good gore filled times.

Ultimately I tried to make my guide comprehensive and not entirely too specific in order to allow people to make up their own minds. That's partly why I included the public editable Build section so people have a chance to put up their builds to show why they're good. As long as they're mostly cleric more power to them.

Most people, once they read a guide on a particular class, learn "general guidelines" I think for the type of builds described.

So when a new source comes out hopefully the author doesn't have to update their guide for someone to benefit from the original class guide.

If anything the author could just make an "Addendum" if they see it worth it.

These documents are "living" so nothing is set in stone.

QFT. I've revised mine a few times since I first posted it months ago.

Awesome. Love to see that build

Unfortunately I have to catch up with what I missed in the past 3 months before I can update my guide (or produce new ones).

Please add the helpful "Getting X to Y"

The Arcane Archer guide posted is a guide about the Arcane TRICKSTER.

I'd like to resubmit my Complete Wizard Guide for this thread.

I think you need to ask the author to change the settings on the file to allow people to download it. If you ask in the discussion thread for that guide, you're more likely to get his attention I'd wager.

Anyone thinking of doing an arcane archer guide. Id love to read one. I don't have enough theorycraft fu to write it myself. Id love to see oterisks version.
