I think you nailed it.
It's the fact that you cannot use logic to guess the right preposition what makes it harder.
I was never good at learning things by heart, I have always needed to find the logic inside everything. If I cannot, it becomes very difficult to me.
The fact that a high percentage of my English was self taught by listening music, watching movies, reading books and forums, etc. only makes it worse. It's easier when you have a teacher to tell you when you are doing it wrong.

In english and greek at least, from what I have seen, the main difficulty with prepositions is that they need to be memorized, and then used constantly to be remembered, and that the meanings can change depending on in what context they are used, and what noun they are used with. (I believe that this is more properly called the "case" of the noun.) Many people have difficulty with this memorization process, and this is where the difficulty arises.

BTW Kileanna, your written english is good enough that I would never have guessed you were a non-native speaker until you brought it up.

It's not as good. When I don't know how to say something I try to find another way to say it. That often means that I'm not usually saying exactly what I'd like to say. But that doesn't keep me from being an active member of the community because I really enjoy this messageboards, specially the crazy nonsensical part that are the forum games xD
I cannot tell how many good laughs I have had with you, people.

I am the first crazy one, I must say. I mean, the only alias that is somewhat named after my real name has a somewhat microbian name and the proto-face of a proto-shoggoth. What does it say about me?
(Man, how I love this alias xD)

that you secretly wish to be a cthuloid!?

EDIT: Did I just get cthninju'd? Yes, other Quibblemuch, yes you did.

Everytime I cook octopus I have some sort of ritual that implies carrying the poor thing around saying Ïa ïa ïa Cthulhu Fhtagn for a while. I sometimes do the same with squids.
So maybe I have a Cthuloid side.

Nah, that is completely natural, everyone does that.

*Runs after him with a cauldron*

Stop attacking the awakened octopi!! They have feelings too you know... Just... not as many...

I just want to make it tastier! It's for its own good...

I'm ignoring everything that came before this post and changing the name of this thread to "Last One To Post Wins (If you're Sinister Stan)".

If you are Sinister Stan but you don't make the last post you are still not winning. So you cannot lose but you might not win either.
Change the name for «Sinister Stan wins». It's not so subtle but it should work.

EH!? What's that!? Yon Sinister Stan be a plottin' again!?
*flies up, slowly of course, he is old after all, and pecks sinister stan on the head*

You fool! If no one knows you are scheming, what is even the point? Now stand back as I laugh the laugh of a mastermind!

AH HA! AH HA! HAAAAA!!!

* checks Sinister Stan's birth certificate *

Says here your real name is Hugh Jass so I guess it won't be you.

What is this!? Sinister Stans post and mine keep switching on me!! (nearly) Every time I refresh the page, they switch spots!! We broke the page!!

It happened to me too!
It must be one of Stan's schemes!

Well, people, this one is going to sleep! Don't break the thread again, Stan could end winning!

Nah, don't give him that much credit... He announces all of his schemes before he does them, and he never announced this one.

Dude, as an original Jim Henson's muppets fan, I think that is an amazing avatar name. I'm jealous that I did not think of that first.

Johnny...Depp?

*wanders around in confusion, turns sideways a bit too quickly, accidentally slices Kileanna's foot clean off with super-vorpal cutlass*

JOHNNY DEPP?!?!

Ah... continuity.
Probably the first time this thread ever had any...
*replaces Kileanna's foot*
There, at least she won't miss it when she wakes up...
*turns to the puppet*
Aim a bit higher next time, the results may please you...

Scarab Sages

Whoops, you put down that last part in invisible ink.

*rubs The Game Hamster's post with lemon rind*

Well, of course, did you actually think I put her actual foot back on?

I'd recommend you check your mailbox!

You sent it to the wrong address, I found nothing there.

Just getting back to winning that is all.

No No I win battles. all the battles.

2000th post counting aliases whooo!

*Wakes up*
*Feels weird when walking*

Oh, damn. I grew pinecones while sleeping again.

>.> that is quite the feat.

Don't worry, it's not a serious condition.
It only happens when I sleep near famous actor puppets with swords.
Never more often than twice in a month.

This is only confusing me more.

Just read the previous posts and you'll understand.

I don't have time to read!

I'm too busy planning!

Doom!

On a fun side note, our posts are still switching places...

Oh the Hamster is awake.

I never sleep.
I just remove my presence from the internet for short periods of time.
