Worth Buying

4/5

New class is good, has neat subclasses/talents/weapons.

Feels very constrained by page count. Especially the dynamic hacking, nanocyte faculties not really supporting many non-cloud playstyles, or how a decent amount of talents end up getting spent on vehicles to support that chapter.

Amazing book!

5/5

I'm currently in love with this book. New class, new class options, new equipment, new vehicles, vehicle modifications, MECHS?

New systems and rules for all of these things?

New lore material to help us flesh out our own Starfinder campaigns?

This is the kind of quality that I know and respect the Paizo staff for. So very good.

Tech Revolution has been delayed and will be pushed to a September 22 release.

The Tech Revolution has not produced transporter teleportation methods here on Earth, alas.

Hopefully it arrives for September.

Of all the decisions made over the years, the video podcasts and discords make me want to just quit the hobby altogether. I want to hear what is happening, but these are just an absolutely awful experience for me.

I enjoy play streams, but as an information source I hate the entire format.

Right there with you.

Videos are the worst way for me to access facts. Can't understand why its become so poular.

I have always preferred to read my news, and finding out that something was in video format si pretty much an instant tab closure from me. It has made the Internet a bit hard to use for the last decade or so.

Any chance we could get a teensy little nanocyte class details posted to AON and temporarily sanctioned? Asking for my Gameday X character.

Sad for the delay but I like the twitch streams as well as many others I suspect from my time there or a rewatch as I usually don't get to see it live.

Ooof. That's a real bummer, group was looking forward to the updated mech rules for our upcoming get-together. Still, they'll manage with the tech rev playtest pdf.

My wonder is, as busy as December gets, will the Galactic Magic manual get further delayed from similar shipping issues?

... cybernetics beyond the limits of biology (i,e, augmentations to make a stronger, faster, smarter, more resilient, etc than any meatbag)
... biosculpting/bioforming
... smart guns
... stellar or planetary annihilations/harvesting
... star lifting
... controlling multiple drones
... von neumann machines
... remote mind machine interfaces
... Matrioshka Worlds, world ships, moving stars

... Nicoll-Dyson Beams
... mind uploading
... uplifting
... weaponized gamma ray bursters
... weaponized black holes or kugelblitz?

A lot of those are soundly outside of what we've seen of typical game balance so far and are much more in the area of 'GM plot device' as opposed to balanced player options.

Granted, more than a few already exist in the game to one degree or another... there are already Uplifted Bears and Technopathy Nodes, for instance.

This looks like a neat book. I may have to delve back into Starfinder.

It may not be the best combo, but I am looking forward to playing a Spathinae Nanocyte...Swarmception.

I had considered making that kind of character myself. I had this idea for a Spathinae swarm where each insect was cybernetically augmented to be able to shift into Nanocyte nanite forms. So your "nanites" are just the bugs that make up you.

Smart Guns as well, there are Manufacturers in the Armory Book that specifically makes guns that use either biometric or psionic safeties to prevent anyone other than the person coded to the gun from firing it. Given, those these are technically biotech and psitech, but some of the options do already exist in other sources.

Smartgun, at least in Cyberpunk and Shadowrun, is not a biometric lock but a targeting system with IFF capabilities and that compares where you are aiming and where you are looking to improve your gun / eye coordination.

Hey, just a mention for Paizo folks- I'm not seeing this book on the front page anywhere. I know Paizo bases future decisions off of sales data, and selfishly I'd like the stuff that seems interesting to me to have a fair shot. X)

Updating the home page with new and upcoming releases is a manual process and is already on our to-do list, thanks!

We have plans for new systems too. Let's return to the topic of the book. Sharing how the sausage is made is in no one's best interest. Thank you, kindly.

But I love watching the food/travel channel :3

Speaking of, we really need some alien cuisines "statted" out.

Each new book that comes out makes me really wish I had waited on building my SFS solarion instead of just using the CRB. Whoever wrote the Electrical Attunement alternate class features did a really good job of making something mechanically interesting and two balanced states where either option gives choices.

And several of us already have PDFs. I am actually surprised by the relative lack of questions.

Pathfinder Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

There is a kind soul on reddit that has been really good for answering questions. That could be why.

I'm interested in knowing about the new Mechanic Options and if they added the option for large-sized mechs for small pilots?

Pathfinder Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Bit of an error on table 1-1, it seems that at the top of the table where it describes which type of save is which shifted over to the left, so now it says Fort Attack Bonus, Ref Save Bonus, Will Save Bonus, and Save Bonus

Mechanics get the options of replacing the AI ability for the ability to get a couple of grenades everyday or a custom vehicle, plus a couple of new drones types

I mean, normally people say they got the pdf and Then questions come in.

Did all classes get some form of option, or was it a focused list of classes that got stuff?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber

Every class (aside from the nanocyte) gets 2 pages of new options. Mechanics also get an additional two pages of drone options. And the mechanic option page count doesn't include the rules for modding vehicles, which can technically roll into their class abilities.

One new mystic spell, no new feats, themes, or archetypes, as a note. Not that kind of book. What surprised me, greatly and positively, was that about a quarter of the book is devoted to pure prose essays describing various technological aspects of everyday life in the Pact Worlds/galactic society.

Unless otherwise noted, each of these topics gets a full page of setting lore:

Stores and Manufacturers (4 pages)
Day in the Life: Absalom Station
Day in the Life: Akiton
Day in the Life: Verces
Advertisements
Biotech
Body Modification
Comm Units
Domestic Technology
Energy Production
Food Technology (2 pages)
Infospheres (2 pages)
Media (4 pages)
Medicine
Music
Obsolete Tech
Robots
Security (2 pages)
Shipping and Deliveries
Software
Technobabble
Translators
Transportation, Personal
Transportation, Public
Transportation, Spaceflight
Universal Polymer Base
Vidgames
Virtual Intelligence

As a GM who gets frustrated when I sometimes can't get a coherent answer to questions like "What do I see if I look up?" this is all deeply welcome to me.

Good to hear every class gets something. Are there many subclass style options, or is the focus on the more '1 per 2 levels talent' style options?

I am curious how well the prose stuff is handled given the tech level of starfinder is very 'it's a game don't actually squint at it', especially as it is mainly abstracted by level rather than actual location. A quarter of the book on content that... doesn't actually line up with how the game plays and will just be ignored at the table sound risky.

Key summary sentence: "Your solarian powers are tuned to the interplay of energy and resistance, not photons and gravitons."

I'm assuming energy and resistance have their own revelation lists?

Surprisingly, no. The Electrical Attunement alternate class feature primarily modifies how the existing modes and revelations work.

I think we're saying the same thing. Like no new revelations (or at least only a few) but the existing revelations being divided up between resistance and energy in a new way.

Energy uses the photon list, resistance uses graviton, which future proofs it well to not prevent future revelations from being included. That said, they do replace supernova and black hole and have some support for the replacements.

Darn, I was hoping for a little more uniqueness than just using the photon and graviton lists.

Starfinder Tech Revolution Day!

I have a question.
So the sniper alternate for operative says it replaces trick attack, does that mean I can’t get any exploits that would use trick attack, like bleeding attack with debilitating sniper?
