Ray Guns and Rocket Packs!

It’s one thing to face a dragon armed with a longsword and a suit of magic plate mail, but what if you had an atom gun and powered armor? How many zombies could you blow up with a rocket launcher? What happens if you’re standing next to a graviton reactor when it explodes? All of these questions and more are answered within the pages of the Technology Guide—an invaluable manual of items, hazards, and character options for use in science-fantasy settings like Golarion’s Numeria, land of savagery and super-science!

Within this book, you’ll find:

  • Rules for dozens of new technological items, including weapons, armor, force fields, hologram generators, grenades, cybernetic implants, nanotech devices, remote controls for robots, and more!
  • New feats, spells, and archetypes for technologically savvy characters, along with rules for how your skills interact with super-science.
  • Extraordinarily powerful scientific items and artifacts, such as extinction wave devices, powered armor, and nuclear reactors!
  • The technomancer prestige class, which allows you to use magic to command robots and power your technology .
  • Rules for artificial intelligences, the effects of the passage of time on technological items, the dangers of radiation, the seven skymetals of Numeria, technological traps, and more!

The Technology Guide is a must-have for GMs running the Iron Gods Adventure Path or anyone looking to introduce super-science into any Pathfinder adventure or campaign setting.

paper quality is bad

4/5

Nice book with a lot of sci-fi items,, something like Wizardry in Golarion .. I woud like to give this book 5/5, but I cant. Reason why I cant do like that is simple, the quality of paper is just terrible. Paper Quality of Paizo books is going down, what is sad .. for me 4/5

Essential for Adding Tech to Pathfinder

4/5

Read my full review on Of Dice and Pen.

The Technology Guide provides gamemasters with the information and items they need to add technology into their fantasy games. It's not particularly exciting or innovative, but that's not really its point. Instead, it forms the necessary baseline for other books to build upon, much like the Core Rulebook provides the baseline rules for the entire game. If you want technology in your games, it's a book you really can't do without.

Meh

2/5

There are some interesting items in here but having sci-fi with magic breaks the immersion for me.

Pretty damn cool

4/5

I picked up this as a pdf because it looked interesting, and I was not disappointed. I used it to write an adventure (crashed UFO in a fantasy setting), and it led to the most fun I have ever had running a game. It would be useful if it had suggestions for other books containing some of the referenced monsters (such as certain types of monsters which I found on the pfsrd), but all in all it does exactly as promised.

Yes. Get it.

5/5

If you have any interest at all in genre fusion in your adventuring, this book is a must buy.

You could, if you wanted to, use it as the basis for a full-on science fiction campaign if you wanted to. It turned out even better than I imagined it would.

Why must you torment me so?!

It is clear to me now that when Paizo reveals the entire Ghol-Gani pantheon, the lead deity will have "tortuously teases & taunts with tantalizing tidbits" in its portfolio.

Techslinger:
New deeds: Covet Charge (spend grit to use 1 less charge), Reliable (spend grit to avoid tech glitches), Charge Recycling (spend grit to grant 1 charge to a tech item), Heavy Weapon Deeds (treat a heavy weapon as a firearm for using deeds); bonus feat (can take the Technologist feat as a bonus feat); Technic Training (gives bonuses to selected advanced tech firearms).

Also what is the Technomancer like?

Technomancer:
It's a PrC that allows a spellcaster to work with advanced tech and continue to advance their spellcasting. They can repair, recycle, and craft tech items.

A null blade is a +1 construct-bane bastard sword. When activated, the enhancement bonus is increased to +2. Also, when a null blade hits a creature or object (only the first hit in a round), the creature or object is targeted with a dispel magic/discharge spell.

Any info on those null blades?

Null Blade:
A null blade is a +1 construct-bane bastard sword — using it in this capacity does not consume any charges. The blade’s strange alloy penetrates hardness as if it were made of adamantine. The blade can be activated as a swift action. While it’s active, a shimmering field of green energy wraps around the blade, disrupting magic and technology alike, and the weapon’s enhancement bonus increases to +2. In addition, the first time in a round that an activated null blade strikes a creature or object, it consumes an additional charge and targets the creature or object struck with dispel magic and discharge (see page 9). If a technological item damaged by a null blade is used in the same round it took damage, it glitches as if it were timeworn (see page 55). Other stuff: 1-handed melee, exotic (bastard sword), 1d10 slashing 19-20/x2, 10 charges, 1 charge/round, 4 pounds.

Do cybernetics add an Augmented or Cybernetic subtype to the modified creature?

Not as far as I can tell, no. Basically, cybernetics take up slots similar to magic items (arm, body, head, etc.). Each cybernetic has an implantation score, and a character's implantations are limited to his Constitution. For instance, if a character has a Con of 18, he can have 18 points worth of cybernetics.

So, does this have info about crafting robots finally, or are those still out of the scope of players actually creating them?

No rules on crafting robots.

Are any of the melee tech weapons going to be Swashbuckler-friendly? The monowhip maybe? Do you threaten with a monowhip...?

I can't comment on the swashbuckler question, because I don't have access to Advanced Class Guide yet.

Scarab Sages

I mean threaten as in get attacks of opportunity (as opposed to a regular whip).

I do like that crit chance! :) Is it piercing damage...? Finessable?

Slashing damage. Weapon Finesse is not mentioned in the item description.

As for attacks of opportunity, it's not specifically mentioned, but text such as "wielded like a whip" indicates to me that, except for what's mentioned in the text (rolls against touch AC, ignores hardness, no Str bonus to damage), it functions like a regular whip.

"wielded like a whip" also indicates finesse, but if it's not specific, expect table variation.

A friend told me that Fires of Creation stated that rules for creating robots and getting robot minions will be in Part 6 of Iron Gods.

Your friend is correct. The robot subtype is featured in the bestiary section of Iron Gods #1: Fires of Creation, and the last paragraph in the subtype writeup mentions just that. Constructing robots, modifying constructs to be robots, and obtaining robot minions will be in Iron Gods #6: The Divinity Drive.

Thanks for the Info Heine Stick.

Sounds like the perfect Rogue weapon, then, but useless for a Swashbuckler. I suppose one could find a Null Rapier, but that's stretching things a bit.

Maybe I should just stick to the Gunslinger, then...

Iron Priest:
(Cleric Archetype)

Iron priests preach of the messengers from beyond the stars, envoys of the divine brought to Golarion in a falling star. Iron priests can affect robots and other unliving constructs with channeled energy, but lack power over the undead. Appropriate deities for an Iron Priest include Brigh, Nethys, Gorum, and Haagenti. An iron priest has the following class features.
Class Skills: The iron priest’s class skills are Appraise (Int), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disable Device (Dex), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (engineering) (Int), Knowledge (history) (Int), Knowledge (local), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Linguistics (Int), Profession (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), and Survival (Wis).
Channel Energy (Su): When an iron priest channels energy to heal or harm living creatures, she heals or harms constructs with the clockwork or robot subtypes as well. Constructs without those subtypes are also affected, but gain only half the normal amount of healing or take only half the normal amount of damage, as appropriate. This ability alters channel energy.
Spontaneous Casting: An iron priest can spontaneously cast make whole and greater make whole in place of cure/inflict moderate wounds and cure/inflict critical wounds, regardless of whether she channels positive or negative energy. This ability alters casting.

HRCK! That is f*@&ing cool! They get any other abilities, do their skill points change, and so they lose the ability to effect undead but their channel effects constructs the same way it effects living creatures now?

Hell with just that I've now got a cleric arc for my scrapwalker cultists.

This is really cool to hear, and makes me feel all the more foolish for not having put it on this month's "to buy" list, after anticipating it all this time (I forgot!)

When I do get it, though, I definitely have to revisit both my "Guardians of the Galaxy" Pathfinder character pastiche and consider thinking about how some of the APs and/or modules might be adapted to different worlds, like Verces.
