Hey, leave Deskari alone. As a GM for this one I appreciate how misunderstood the lord of locusts is. He's just trying to help Golarion out.
Sorry, but for me Deskari is a jerk who never talks to his father (who does not seem to be even present in this AP in any way) and that is noisy as hell! I mean, his father is specialized in corruption of mortals, and who does he call for backup in order to infiltrate in a society of paladins? ... The child-lover of his father ex girlfriend! What a jerk.
We need some transformer paladin to squash his insecticons army!

So, did anyone else notice the shout out to succubus-on-succubus art in the boilerplate?
Very bottom of Page 2 "... Printed in China. Ayavah was right all along!"
*sigh* Now I need to compulsively review the boilerplate and credits of every Adventure Path pdf to see what else crops up......
Considering what she thinks, now I'm even more interested in Nocticula's role in the finale.

Deskari must be destroyed, no matter the cost!
...
We need a Numerian Android paladin!
Or a Celestial Iron Colossus!
How odd that you say that... I am in the planning stages of running this AP and one of my players has requested permission to play an android paladin/godclaw hellknight before I finished describing the theme of the campaign .

That probably just means the player would have asked to play that character regardless of the theme of the campaign.

You see its his fathers fault! If only he'd paid more attention to Deskari as he was growing up. :)
Sadly I think my PCs may take your side of the argument though and seek to crush his buggyness.

What were your predictions and how does this contradict them?
Also-1) This sounds like the exact same text that was written in the end of Herald of the Ivory Labyrinth - there, too, a PC could call on Nocticula and she would come to help but also kidnap the PC in exchange for her favor. So how is this new information that could contradict something you were still thinking after reading the previous adventure?
2) Doesn't it kind of sound like it would be better to leave Nocticula where she is? it has been proven in the previous adventure that as a goddess she'll be able to do less about demon lords than she does currently, killing them by the dozens over the centuries...
3) Does the book say what happens to all of Conticula's worshipers if she ascends into godhood and changes alignment? do they lose their powers? change their alignment too?

Yeah, it's kinda silly, but so is mythic gameplay, so whatevs. In sum of the last three modules, Nocticula is way cooler than I imagined her overall, too.

Your other points:
1.) As for how this is different from Herald, a.) if you call her (as written, you don't need to pray to her even), she comes 100%, but only if you were one of the people who didn't accept her special favor offering in Midnight Isles. It also doesn't turn you CE to call upon her for the final fight, however she'll take you home to do, um, things to you. I guess. It's not made clear. ^^
2.) Well, personally I think redeeming a demon lord is about as earth shaking as closing the Worldwound itself. If you manage to do that and create a new CN god in the process, the re-manifested spirit of Areelu Vorlesh will take over, though, so it kinda balances itself out. It's very much a two-sided sword kind of scenario.
3.) The idea of redeeming her is only shortly thrown out there, wider ramifications are not elaborated upon. Still, a very cool idea.
Overall, I thought the "After the campaign" section lacked a bit in the part about what the PC's can do after the campaign if they win. The "if you lose" part is much more detailed. I guess it's hard to not focus on what dire consequences a loss would entail, but having 4+ extremely powerful people running around should have been treated with more urgency. IMHO, YMMV, etc, etc.
| magnuskn |
If the After the Campaign section covers the possibility of redeeming N, does it say anything about her post-redemption relationship with her brother (S)?
(Too lazy to deal with spoiler tags, therefore the slightly cryptic initials.)
Nope. Just mentions the possibility of redemption and a few consequences of it.

Aw, my prediction about Nocticula was so much less true than I wanted it to be. :( Well, at least in the campaign proper.
Almost like it was something that could well be it's own basis for an entire campaign separate from this one, right? One that might some day become it's own Adventure Path, perhaps?

That would be awesome!
Seriously, if I can take one thing away from this AP, then it is that Nocticula is a great character. I'd like to see more of her in the future.

Since 2014 is already booked out, can I put my vote for it being the 2015 AP?
Pretty please? With Deskari sprinkles on top?

You can vote all you want... but both 2015 APs are already decided on and are starting to get outlined already, and they're about different topics. Also... after Worldwound, we kinda want to take a break from demon-heavy APs for a bit. At least a year. Even though that breaks my heart.

Let's break from evil outsiders completely for a bit. Maybe something with dragons.

Agreed. I would love an adventure path where everything goes "back to basics". Personally, I would love a dragons-based AP. Or heck, something with orcs! Seriously, we have had dozens of modules and Adventure Paths, but not a single one of them has focused on orcs even after Orcs of Golarion was released! When are the green guys going to get some love?
Paizo did such a great job re-making and re-skinning the buggers (literally), it's such a shame that they are being left to go to waste.

I would hope we see Dinosuars soon. Big T-rexes with lasers on their frikken heads..but I would settle for cyborg wooly mammoths too.

Devastator (CR 22/MR 8), a four-armed mechanized war machine fueled by the essences of good outsiders killed in the Abyss.
So they finally put a mythic monster in the ap bestiary.

Why is the possibility of involving Nocticula's supposed to be different in this book than in the last one? I don't have this yet, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around it. Is the short time that happens between the two books where I'm guessing no other interaction happens between the PCs and her supposed to make a huge difference for some reason?

I must squee!
Only had a chance to skim through this one, but kudos to everyone involved in making this Adventure Path happen. Artists, writers, editors, all of you. Thank you.
I want to lavish particular praise on the 'Beyond the Campaign' and 'Deskari' sections.
Both of the faith articles in this AP, and Szuriel's in RoW, were excellent. Please give my thanks to the artist who created the cultist of Baphomet. I want it poster sized! I appreciate the insight into the demon lord's background and how the cult operates. The commandments and details on marriage/family help me see how to make a cult distinct and memorable. Sean, you do religion well. I eagerly await 'Gods of the Inner Sea'.
As a fan of Ruins of Pathfinder, I really liked the Beyond the Campaign section. While the APs give a nod to what could happen if the PCs fail, this gives us so much more. What nations fall, which unite to stem the tide, the response of powerful individuals or groups. Even if I never use any of this, it was a great read that will have me day-dreaming for weeks. It also made me loop Manowar's Warriors of the World for most of lab.
But all is not gloom! Though brief, 'Now they are legends' nicely laid out some likely paths to continue down. We get to see the intriguing Eliandra and are given a shortlist of those who might yet challenge our conquering heroes. It gives us a glimpse of all the work yet to do, and still keeps me feeling that the heroes won.
Also,
Almost like it was something that could well be it's own basis for an entire campaign separate from this one, right? One that might some day become it's own Adventure Path, perhaps?
Can this be a thing? Please let this be a thing! Redeeming a Demon Lord?! You would send Mikaze into spirals of ecstasy with this.
