Vai's immediate reaction is to jump backwards, her wings sprouting wide from her back before she realizes exactly what's going on...

"Freaking seriously?!" she mutters under her breath as she takes in the aura around the other student.

Once her heartrate steadied out a bit, Vai's wings fold back into herself and she walks over to Serrin, bending down next to her. A bit of hair trails down from Vai's bangs to hide one of her eyes. "Are you alright?"

Serrin can see Vai surrounded by a bright and beautiful Aura of Light.

Looking up at her, the young girl actually shies away slightly from Vai, and covers her eyes with arm. "Wow, you are really bright, it kinda hurts my eyes." She says in a plaintive voice.

As Vai was wandering the halls, a young, pale skinned firebird suddenly falls from the shadows clinging to the ceiling. *If* there wouldn't be any shadows(for whatever reason), then they are spontaneously created and disappear shortly thereafter.

"Oh, ouch! Dang it this is hard!" She says aloud, though obviously to herself. A shifting aura of deep purples, midnight blues, and darkest blacks surrounds her, and Vai knows she's looking at the new Champion of Darkness.

She doesn't stand up right away, opting to sit on the floor, and rub her knee which bears a noticeable bruise.

To complicate matters more, Serrin creates several illusion foxes, to mess with both Keme and Alys. She herself has taken bird form again, and is sitting in a tree, not too far from Genosuke, watching with amusement as her shadowy foxes mess with the two real ones.

After Serrin had gotten back her book, she was planning on not playing with the foxes.

But then she saw Alys frustrated and confused at Keme disappearing down the hole, so she decided to mess with her.

She crafts a very life-like looking illusion of the former champion of Hope, which she has bound away from Alys, taunting her to chase him.

Serrin gets all flustered and confused, chasing first one fake Keme, and then another. After this goes on for a good few minutes, she howls in frustration, then suddenly realizes how she can spot the real Keme. She concentrates for a few moments, and 'feels' for the shadow the true fox that has book. She locates him and pounces. "HA! Got ya!"

Hope that makes sense. I figured the doubles wouldn't make shadows, as they aren't substantial and her feeling a person's shadow sounds like a cool ability to me.

Is he personally creating even more illusory doubles, or just swapping places with the two Geno made? Slightly vague.

Cool! I figure minor works as if you're good they're auto celestial, and fiendish if you're evil. This just swaps those templates for one of similar power level that's more thematic for her.

Hey Lyn, as a minor power for Serrin from being the Champion of Darkness, would it OK if all her normal summons added the Shadow template? But, only where the regular summon monster spell would add celestial or fiendish, ie, I believe only animals.

"HEY!! GIVE ME MY BOOK BACK!!" She shouts, laughing, and chasing after Keme. Suddenly, a pair of other Keme foxes appear, and dash off opposite her target. "NO FAIR!! She shrieks and then summons a pair of shadowy panthers that race after the other two Keme's.

Keme stalks carefully through the grass, ready to pounce at the first sign of an opening.

Is Serrin carrying anything, or wearing anything like a hair ribbon or something easily removable? Because grabbing something to play keep away with would be his first choice for play. :)

"AH!!" Serrin yelps as Alys nips her feet, spinning around towards the red fox, 'exposing' her to Keme.

A firebird with most unusual, but with a lot of purple coloration flies over the three foxes, and lands in front of them, before blurring into Serrin. She sequels in delight "Oh my gosh you are all so cute!"

Well, yea, that I knew, I meant like actual physical form. Ie, could some firebirds look more like an eagle/hawk while others might be more akin to a raven/crow, and yet a third group appear as phoenixes?

Do all firebirds look like phoenixes? Or is there more variety in their bird forms?

Keme follows suit, sticking to the one-tailed fox form as well since it seemed that they were going for the not calling attention the themselves version of things.

While they might be trying to be inconspicuous, a trio of foxes running together is unusual, at least to a girl who spent ninety eight percent of her life locked up.

So it was that when Serrin spotted the leash (She's smart and well read!) she shifts into her bird form and flies after them.

What does Keme, Alys and Geno look like in fox form?

Just a heads up regarding Serrin:

She's spent the vast majority of her life locked in her room, save for when she snuck out to steal books. She's trying to be more outgoing after he talk with Umbra, but she still would much rather be alone, with her books, more often than not.

In other words, people are going to need to drag her out of her shell, and force her to do stuff, at least for the time being.

Actually intend to work on a ten minute background for her, just haven't had the chance yet.

Serrin, meanwhile, is too far away to notice what all is transpiring with the champions and their patrons, but she can tell they are still having 'couple time'. However, the lake is really calming, and so she sits under a tree and takes out one of her tomes on magickal theory.

After finishing her breakfast, Serrin decides to wander outside. Normally, she loathed going out during the day, if she could avoid it, but if she was truly going to do as Umbra asked, she needed to turn over a new leaf, as it were.

Making her way into the gardens, she spots a couple by the lake. They appear to be having a quite breakfast together, so she doesn't interrupt them. She does wave at them however, trying to be more friendly.

Boo at Andromeda not spotting Serrin. That was a big part of why I brought her into the cafe now lol

Serrin sees Jessa and gives a friendly wave, but makes her way to get some food first. Once she does, she heads over to one of the few people she knows, but spots the couple siting at the table where Jessa is, and veers off to sit by herself for now. While she's going to be making a concerted effort to be more personable, she was still rather anti-social, plus she didn't feel like being overly talkative so early in the morning. Also, I don't want two of my PCs in the same convo/scene

Serrin spent a lot of the night in deep meditation, contemplating the conversation/lecture she had with Umbra. There was a lot to think about, including that she should probably tone down her 'prickly' personality.

So it was that she begrudgingly got up early Saturday morning, when she would much rather sleep in, and trekked down to the cafeteria, wearing blue pants with black stars and a black 'I hate mornings' shirt.

Yep, I'm talking to myself again. Setting up the reveal about Lyzzie's past, which will involve even more talking to myself. Cause sometimes it just works that way. :)

Serrin really doesn't have anything going on for her atm, any chance she could be in on Lyzzie stuff?

While cleaning her closest, Serrin's stomach starts to grumble. She hadn't really eaten all the much before Umbral called on her, and she totally forget to take her dinner.

Turning, to stop a couple of books she had set aside from falling over, she stumbled and fell through the shadows in her closest. When she got up, Serrin noticed that she had somehow teleported into the cafeteria "I'm guessing that's probably one of the new powers from Darkness. That's pretty cool" She muses silently, as she goes and gets a second plate for dinner. Thankfully it wasn't too late and there was still plenty left.

"Yes, you are definitely soothing and calming. Much greatness has been done or created during the hours of darkness. That said, anything I should do for you now? Or just continue to go about my classes, and when possible, spread the word of how awesome you are?"

At this point, Serrin's room is rather organized, so she dismisses her shadowy friend, and grabs one of her favorite books to study.

Serrin nods in agreement at Umbral words "Welp, I guess you chose a good candidate then. I've been fascinated by, well you, I suppose, since I was little. I definitely know you aren't evil, or bad. Spooky, creepy, sure, but not evil. At least, not necessarily. And this was all before I truly came into my own, and learned of my heritage. So sure, I will gladly accept being your Champion, and helping right the misconception that you're evil"

Serrin listen to everything Umbral said, thinking, and considering his words. It was a lot to take in. She was exactly religious, though she did sorta pray to some of the various powers of darkness, shadow and the night. And supposedly she was now talking to the uber big daddy of them all. Darkness itself!

"Ok, so suppose I agree, what does that actually entail? Spreading your influence is a little vague. Do you want me to go around snuffing out candles and torches?" She said the last sarcastically.

After making her way back to her room, while listening to Umbral talk, Serrin lowers the lighting considerably. "I'm gonna guess Lumos is your opposite? Whatever you are. And what's a Champion?"

As she's talking, she 'animates' a shadow and has it begin tidying up her room. Flavorful Unseen Servant "Look, I might be a little girl, and you did scare the crap out of me, but I am no weakling or loser when it comes to shadowmancy." She hated being talked down to, or made to feel like she was lesser, which happened a lot due to her unusual talents with shadows as opposed to fire.

The voice sighed. "We'll get to that. First, you get out of the light. Then with the talking. Honestly, I never had this trouble with the last one. He was perfectly happy to go find a closet to hide in at the drop of a hat, so to speak. Now if he'd only followed my other direction. It was such a simple directive. Don't die. Is that really so much to ask?" It went on in a pained, grumpy tone.

"D-d-die? I don't want to die!" She does, however get up and walk towards her room. That was safe, and dark. "I could travel to the Plane of Shadow, if that would be better than going to my room" She's trying to be brave, but it's mostly an act. She's only fourteen after all.

Startled by the voice, Serrin looks around for the speaker. Not seeing anybody near her, she tentatively replies "Uh. W-who are you? And S-sure?" "Oh gods, I hope this isn't some creepy stalker trying to lure me outside or something" She thinks, rather nervously.

The cafeteria suddenly feels uncomfortably and unnaturally bright.

Yelping in pain, the shadowbird instinctively surrounds herself with a globe of shadows, hoping to block out the bight light.

Serrin sits quietly at dinner in the cafeteria, enjoying her meal. While she is all alone, she doesn't mind, as she's glad for some peace and quite after what had been a crazy week or so for her.

Jessa stalks into the cafeteria, her face set in a scowl. Her brilliant blue eyes have flecks of a malignant purple hue around the edges. While waiting in the line, after an odd look from the person beside her, she snarls, "Meditation is complete crap!"

Serrin, who was standing behind Jessa in line, explodes into a swarm of shadowy bats due to being startled by the sudden outburst. However, thanks to her week of classes, and regular meditation sessions, is able to reform herself after only a few moments. "Before I started meditating, it used to take me several minutes to put myself back together. I still want to no longer burst into bat form like that, but my teacher was rather impressed by how far I've come in just a week"

Normally, she would never explain so much, but she was really rather proud of her accomplishments in control.

Same with Serrin. She's in the cafeteria scene with Ignace and the others, possibly lost and absolutely disoriented after being in shadow swarm form. But again, nothing really important going on there, that was just done to showcase her serious lack of control over some of her powers.

Fire filled the hallway, but not ordinary fire. This explosion originated in the belly of a volcano located in the heart of the Plane of Fire. The fire wasn't just hot, but also sticky, full of droplets of lava.

Ignace crumpled to the ground, and as she lost consciousness the fire disappeared as if it had never been there.

Serrin's shadow bubble wasn't needed as she was immune to the fire, but its creation was reflexive. Her shadowy twin was not so fortunate and it was annihilated when the fiery blast slammed into it. The platter of food it was carrying clattered to the ground, the food flying all over the place.

Lyn, I have Serrin listed as 14. I think we agreed she should be in the elementary wing, due to her incredibly sheltered life, despite how educated she is, but I can't remember.

The two swarms of shadow bats coalesce into two identical girls, though the one in the lunch line is slightly hazy and indistinct. It loads up on food fit for a firebird and proceeds to walk towards its twin.

Who is at least partially caught in a conflagration from Ignace. Serrin throws up a protective bubble of darkness, trying to ward off the flames.

Let's just say the school 'funneled' Serrin to the elementary lunch room.
This works since, at the moment, she doesn't have much conscious control over herself or where she's going.

While Lim-Mor and the giant rainbow snake bird continue to go at in the halls, the swarm of shadow bats that is Serrin flutter beyond them, and into the cafeteria. After all, while she consciously has no control over this form or even awareness of what's happened, she is still really hungry.

Thus it is that a rather large swarm of bats, made out of pure shadow, flies into the lunch room.

However, part of her mind picks up the fight between Phaedra, Ignace and some other students, and steers the bats towards that. Another part reminds her that she still needs to eat, so it splits off and flies to the lunch line.

Just to clarify, there's two swarms of shadow bats now. One heading towards Phaedra and Ignace, and one making its way to the food line

Serrin ignores Lim's yelling. Sure he might be able to fly, but he was no firebird. And while the shadowy young lady was very much *nothing* even close to your typical firebird, she *loved* flying.

Which is how she found herself winging through the halls, as fast as she could fly. She was a pretty adept flier, ducking and dodging students, making sure Lim didn't bump into anybody.

Then, she rounded a corner, and ran smack dab into the chest of a rather massive, rainbow bird. Now normally, when somebody is flying, be they animal or mage, and then run into somebody, they tend to stumble. Or get hurt. Even knocked out.

Serrin, however, was anything but normal. So it was that when she ran headlong into this immense snakey-birdy thing, she exploded into a swarm of shadow bats.

Unfortunately, this dropped poor Lim-Mor a good ten feet onto the ground, at the feet of whoever this bird snake person was.

As Lim-Mor and Serrin are chatting in the hallway, Serrin's stomach grumbles loudly. She tries to ignore it, but it just keeps getting louder. Eventually, it becomes too loud for her to no longer not listen to.

Having been through a lot that day, including arriving at not only a brand new school, but a whole new world, she acts irrationally, and jumps into the air, turning into her bird form.

However, she wants to keep talking to Lim, so she throws a shadowy net around him, and levitates him up off the ground and into the air with her. She then speeds off, heading to the cafeteria.

That could work, Foul. Just need said PC to be wandering the halls, that OK??

I came up with what I think will be an interesting way to move Lim and Serrin forward, but I'm going to need you to allow me total freedom in the scene to do more or less anything to Lim. Don't worry, I won't hurt, harm, attack him, etc, but I don't wanna tell you what's gonna happen as I want your reaction to be genuine. However, I can PM Lyn if ya want and let her know what's gonna happen to ease fears.

Also, I need a big PC, as in somebody who would be considered Large size or bigger in the rules.

I could go with an NPC, but having it be a PC would be much more fun and interesting.

I think it might be interesting for Serrin and Lily to end up as roommates. Maybe the school is 'aware' of their time in the infirmary, and decides they should room together.

"Why so sad half-man?" Serrin asks, as they continue to walk along the halls of the school.

She chuckles "Good, then you won't mind my using it. And yes, I am new. Sorta. I'm from the Sun"

She shrugs "Whatever you say Halfy"

Hey Magic, does Lim speak in three very different voices? If so, how you would describe each one?

Serrin eyes this person suspiciously "I am fine, but you do not appear to be" She had heard of people who were apparently so crazy they talked to themselves, but she had never met such a person before.

Serrin jumps, startled "Pretty sure you were in my way" She says, eying the bizarre, half and half being that just smacked her with its wing.
