The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Are Raelle and Ginni spending the night in the infirmary? I know Ginni was released, but I don't know/recall if she was supposed to go back for a night of observation, now that she's conscious.

Ginni was released so she doesn't have to go back unless she has further difficulties. She's got a clean bill of health. She'll have to go back for a physical at some point so they can get an idea of how she's adjusting to her transformation, but not that night.

So, when should I introduce Havel?

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Sometime during current game day, but maybe let Ryleh finish crying first. She's having a rough time.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Good news, it's much easier to breathe now that my ribs are all the way back where they belong, and my shoulder blade too. I thought I only had one rib pop out of socket this weekend, but the chiropractor said there were two out of position. So that's why it hurt so dang much. (No, I wasn't doing anything crazy. I turned around while driving to see in my blindspot before changing lanes, and my rib popped out of place. And this is why I joke about always having to put myself back together, because the alternative is crying. In pain. Owie! ; ; )
I'm going to try to get some more posts up in the game thread tonight, but no promises. I may just end up conking out and getting some much needed extra sleep during the unusual pain lull. :)

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Or it'll be Thursday before I can post again because yesterday every time I tried to post the boards wouldn't load. :/
But hey, they're working now. :)
So time to get some more posts up...

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Yep, I'm talking to myself again. Setting up the reveal about Lyzzie's past, which will involve even more talking to myself. Cause sometimes it just works that way. :)

Ok, couple questions before I start posting and stuff.

1. Today is the day we're doing Dave's party, right?

2. Did you want the hand sized robots to be something Hermes made, or is it actually Arthur who made them without his knowledge? Or are they just there?

3. What happened to the dragon people side plot? The one Mike and Drake are for.

1. Yes

2. Don't know

3. It's also happening today. That was the question earlier where Havel asked about when he should be introduced and I said this game day, but give it a bit since Ryleh is kinda the contact person for that and she's currently having a very, very bad day.

At least I think that was the right story...I'm a little loopy at the moment.

Serrin really doesn't have anything going on for her atm, any chance she could be in on Lyzzie stuff?

Exactly the right story.

Anyone who needs to work out a member of havel's group, let me know. Stats are loose on all of them, still.

Ok, few follow up questions, and no need to answer immediately if loopiness is bothering ya. But when you do, feel free to correct this piece by piece.

Champion Teleports: I know they're just a plot device, but I need little clarification on how they work. We're supposed to only be able to Port to a place where our concept exists, right?

So, Creation can be pretty much everywhere. Physical material is all that champion needs.

Darkness and Light could go anywhere except for like a totally open field with no shadows, and, like a completely dark cavern. Right?

But, this gets a little more complicated with the Emotive Champions, Pride, Mercy, Wrath, etc. I guess their ability to teleport to a place is dependant on whether or not something there is sentient and capable of feeling said emotions. If this is the case, how far from a sentient creature could the Emotive Champions teleport, before it's too far away for their concept to exist in that area? And is it dependant on if that emotion is currently or passively felt by the sentient they're able to Port to?

Or am I being too specific, and any champion can teleport to any place where their concept is capable of existing? Like, the emotional e champions could go to a Plane where no living thing exists to feel their emotions, but they could travel to an uninhabited planet because their emotions exists in that plane of existence?

If this is the case, are there any absolutes as far as Planes go? Could Tybs teleport to one of the planes of Hell on the assumption that "even some demons can be merciful" or is the plane itself diametrically opposed to that, and would prevent him from going there?

Jasper is kind of a different case with this, since Freedom isn't something physical, but it's also not an emotion. I guess he could just go anywhere a living thing exists.

Not really. Lyzzie isn't even in on the Lyzzie stuff. Her presence was just to start that story going. Bradley is going to have a conversation with someone later to confirm what he suspects about who Lyzzie is, but nobody is planning on telling Lyzzie anything about it as of yet. It's also going to reveal Bradley's secrets, but since the folks interacting with that plot have left, I don't have any reason to tease it out anymore. If/when Lyzzie finds out the truth, then that will be a whole other thing.

Male I am a meat Popsicle

Wasn't Phaezeriel peripherally involved in the Bradley storyline?

Heh. I discovered last night that the new pain meds make me really loopy. I usually have a grace period between when I take all my sleepy medicines (beneficial side effects) and when I get too out of it to post, and I wasn't expecting that window to be much shorter than usual. :)

Anyhow, now that I'm awake and more coherent....

Limits on Champion Teleports....
You've got it right on the limits for Darkness and Light.
I haven't really stopped to figure out the limits on Creation, but yes, anywhere that there are physical materials that can be made into something else.
Life can't go somewhere inimical to life, and so on.
Mercy can go to certain places in Hell, but they are limited.
Wrath would have trouble getting to certain areas of Heaven because they are too peaceful.
Basically, any Champion can go anywhere that their concept is capable of existing. So there are usually areas somewhere in the planes that are opposed to each concept. But some concepts have less limits than others. Freedom by its definition resists limits.
And Time is subject to special rules because without it everything else stops.
Not sure if that answers your question at all. Let me know if I just made things more confusing and/or further clarification is needed.

I think that the ones that are PCs are basically released into the school as they like. They are considered under medical observation, but allowed to wander the grounds.

MisterLurch wrote:

Yes, peripherally I think, at Ana's behest. Without Ana driving that story forward, it's going to stall out. This is a part of that story that he wasn't involved in, although you'll definitely get some pertinent info. Like why Bradley can't turn off his ability. (Ursula's departure.) And why it works the way it does.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Sigh. When I have time to update the game, the boards aren't working.
When the boards are working I can't go five minutes without an interruption.
That pretty much sums up this week. :/

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Oh, I remembered that we were going to have the girls dorm change a bit. At least there was going to be one larger room with multiple occupants instead of just two to a room. I know Raelle, Morrivan, Ginni, Tami, Vai, and Melody were all going to be in that room together. Any other female characters who should be in with that group? I'm going to have it have rearranged itself overnight, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing someone.

It's only confusing if you haven't been following Bradley's story that closely. And since he's been tangential at best to those players still left, then yes, probably very confusing indeed.

Translation: Bradley Urquardht doesn't actually exist as such. His real name is Ursiel, and he's an archangel. He was sent here as a personal favor to a particular goddess who really wants to ensure that her favored children don't get wiped out. He's the failsafe in case everything goes wrong. He was given enormous power to make things right in order to carry out this mission, and was sent here with a partner (Saluriel aka Ursula) whose job it was to help him keep those powers contained. His memories, identity, and true nature were locked away under the guise of a normal human boy with some slightly odd powers. But when Ursula/Saluriel went rogue (she couldn't contain her contempt for these mere humans who were always doing everything wrong), he was left on his own and he started losing control of his powers. This is about when he first met Ana. She helped him some, but there were consequences to spending so much time with the Champion of Life, and when he ended up in a brief romantic relationship with Rena, she ended up pregnant. Since Vare, and therefore Rena along with him, was exiled to the satellite campus for his illicit relationship with Ana, we didn't really see any of that play out on screen, although Bradley knew and there was a brief aside I think in one of Asha's posts because she knew as well since Rena was her closest friend. Anyhow, that whole conversation was Bradley/Ursiel finding out exactly how that child ended up showing up at Avalon technically before she was even born and Ephebe explaining what she had done to help (because sometimes time travel comes in handy) and also asking for some Heaven/Hell cooperation in cleaning up the mess left from the Chosen One storyline. Since that situation was way too complicated to sort out from just one side. As the Bradley persona has become more of a liability than a help, Ephebe advised him to let some of it slide so he always has access to his memories at the very least.

Hopefully that explanation made things a bit clearer. It was a complicated story that never really got much chance to play out, but I really, really wanted for my own sanity to actually get the rest of it out there. Background details! :)

Sorry. :(

I'm trying to close off some of the stories that aren't really generating interest or are about characters that are gone to make things a little easier. Sorry if this is adding to the confusion. :(

Male I am a meat Popsicle

It's not what you are doing. Honestly this will probably help.

It's a case of current ennui on my part that I have not been able to shake combined with the huge influx of new players that happened at a time when I couldn't keep up on the forums as much as I would have liked splashed liberally with a few other spices and flavors.

I have been trying to get back into the mindspace of my characters but I have not been able to make it happen so far...

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I get it. I've been having a hard time getting back into it myself after my extended unplanned absence. But I'm working on it. The new pain meds are working well so far as evidenced by my slew of posts today. Here's hoping that trend continues. :)
In the meantime if anyone needs explanations and/or recaps as we are getting this thing moving again give a shout here in discussion so we can all help each other out.

Parts of that helped, but I do still have a couple unanswered questions.

Since the Emotive Champions teleport ability is tied to sentient creatures able to feel their emotion, how far away are they able to teleport from that ie could they teleport to an uninhabited planet?

Or by "has the ability to exist" does that mean they can teleport mostly anywhere other than certain planes where the natural feel/energy is diametrically opposed.

The main question I need answered is "Can they teleport there if it doesn't exist in the immediately vicinity, but has the capacity to."

Another thing is, what sort of limitations are there on the terms of how they get where they're going? Do they need to be able to visualize the place? How much of an idea of where they're going do they have to have? Because the power is run by Super-God level entities, is there a certain amount of "Fill in the blank," like say, "Teleport to the place in the school with the most people around" or "the largest Jail on Agartha" where it's a place that exists due to certain conditions and not a fully concrete location. Can they teleport to specific people or do they need to know where the person is?

Sorry about all the questions, I'm just curious, and not wanting to overstep limits. I can probably come up with thousands of these.

As for my posting, it'll be just a bit longer. I'm adulting on a youth retreat this weekend, and now that I'm getting paid to do so, I gotta devote lots of time to it. I'll be back Sunday afternoon, if I'm not like dead.

Yes, they can teleport anywhere their concept can exist, basically anywhere that isn't diametrically opposed.

Yes, they can teleport to a destination without a visualization, such as the nearest settlement, etc. So either a concrete location that they've never been to and have never seen or a place that meets certain conditions are fair game. And yes they can teleport to certain people.
No worries about the questions. Happy to help. :)

DB3, let me know if you want the Kitty/Michael visit to be an onscreen thing or an offscreen, let's hit the highlights later in narrative summaries thing. :)

I am having some trouble getting started on the equinox festival storyline as the departure time is much later in the day. The festival starts in the late afternoon/evening. I know that the group going consists of Ehos, Jaiye, Tyrrin, Ghalen, and Ace. Ginni was going to go, but not so much with the not being able to control her shapeshifting yet. I can basically start this at any time so long as folks are okay with being out of sync time wise to the others. Of course most of it is me writing lots and lots of blocks of text, which I am going to break down for the sake of my own sanity. But I will certainly try to leave spots to keep it interactive.

There are three elven kingdoms.

The first is Idriwyalith in the mountains. They are very structured and lawful, which is a bit odd for an elven society, but there you have it.
The second is Hy'alisstan which is basically a forest. These are what you would think of as wood elves.
The third is Laeren, in the plains. They are the neighboring kingdom next to the Lycan's territory and have been at war with them for a very long time. These are more what you would consider 'typical' elves.

The equinox festival is in Laeren and it's a pretty big deal. If Lim-Mor comes from there it would be totally reasonable for him to be going to the festival, and he might even meet the rest of the group in the teleportation room. If he's not from Laeren, he would need to get an invite from either Tyrrin or Ehos to join their particular group of guests that they are allowed to bring with them to the festival.

He is from Laeren, being the product of super soldier type research for the lycan war.

To be honest, I'm hoping this gives me a reason to keep him around. I'm starting to find him kinda boring, really.
