I did refer to the novels earlier and then switched to meaning the splat rulebooks. I grabbed both the Ravnos and Toreador books that Talomyr referred to, plus NY by Night. I saw in the Ravnos book that Ravnos and Gangrel kind of despise each other. Are interclan issues like that brought to the table, or is some of the Lore hand waved away in order to make the group work? If it's an issue, I could switch to my Toreador concept if ElbowtotheFace is bringing a Gangrel. ![]()
![]() I've got 2 character concepts. When I think about building a VTM character, I feel like starting with the Clan (maybe because of my first exposure being the Clan novels.) First option is a Ravnos scoundrel / con-man / professional party crasher. Gorgeous, popular, well-connected but not famous, able to slide into any situation and have everyone instantly accept him and eventually love him. Attributes: Social>Physical>Mental Second thought is a Toreodor club/event producer. Also gorgeous, out-going, but more thoughtful. A planner who finds the joy of art in the art that she facilitates and others create. Attributes: Social>Mental>Physical ![]()

TBH, it was 15 years ago that I read them. They were fun reads, and I loved the setting and flavor, but I don't remember details. ![]() I'm actually very interested in this. I loved the novels, but never got around to playing the RPG. So, obviously, I'd be learning the system from scratch and catching up on the lore. Are there any others you'd recommend, even if they're not required or needed? Would you allow them, or just want to limit this to the Core book? ![]()
![]() I'd love to get in on this. (Good to see you again, Adam. You played at my table of the Special at PaizoCon OZ 2019 in Brisbane!) I understand that Redalia is bringing one of her frogs, and they're either level 8 or 9. I've got: High tier:
Out of Tier:
Low tier:
I'll wait to see what the party composition and expected subtier is. I've played Part 1, but never got to do Parts 2 & 3, so I'll gladly burn a replay for Part 1 if we're really doing all 3 parts. ![]()
![]() Also not a fan, but TBH I thought it was just my browser acting weird. The only benefit I could possibly see is that it differentiates the spoilered text from what's not behind the spoiler. I know that I've sometimes had to click the spoiler button a couple times to open and close it so that I could tell what was and wasn't behind it when amidst a long post of many small paragraphs. But I'd rather they use a bar along the side like many manuals do to indicate a change. ![]()

![]() The feat Memory Access from the COM has a prerequisite of "Construct type, constructed racial trait, exocortex, or head slot augmentation." (emphasis added) Looking through AoN, there are exactly zero "head" slot augmentation, although there are 46 "brain" slot augmentations (15 biotech, 7 cybernetic, 7 magitech, 3 necrografts, and 14 species grafts). Presumably the prerequisite should have said "brain" slot, and possibly have been limited to cybernetic augmentations to match the flavor of the other prereqs, but as written you can't use any augmentations to qualify as there are no "head" slot augmentations available. FWIW, both HeroLab and Starbuilder prevent you from taking the feat unless you qualify one of the other ways, even if you buy a brain slot item. Seems like a simple thing, and fairly obvious, so can we get a quick errata or clarification, please. ![]()

![]() As I mentioned in this waaay off-topic post, I wish to ask for a reconsideration of legality for an archetype. Full disclosure, IRL I’m a proud Teamster. My son who also plays in SFS is a member of IATSE, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and my parents and ex-wife are former AFGE members. I salute and congratulate the members of United Paizo Workers for their successful organizing effort. So I have to ask why the poignantly topical Union Organizer archetype can’t be made legal? The archetype itself doesn’t seem to be excessively powerful, and the associated feats are all Society legal. I understand that the prerequisite: “You must have paid dues on a union membership to take this archetype” isn’t tenable in worldwide Society play, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be a different prereq written specifically for Society play. I propose: “You must have and maintain 1 skill rank per character level in a Profession skill. The Union that you organize for must be directly related to that Profession skill.” This would impose an easily verifiable cost on the character, but one which is directly related to the archetype’s concept. Using the phrase “and maintain” ensures that the cost continues. Failing to maintain the skill rank progression would lead to loss of access to the archetype’s benefits. It would provide for a vast amount of role-play opportunities without being unbalanced by any means. And it would show IRL support for the UPW and other hard working union members worldwide. I therefore hereby petition Org Play leadership to do whatever is needed to make the Union Organizer archetype Society legal somehow. ![]()

![]() Thanks, Charli ;) One of these days I'm going to use my Manifold Host boon to join your faction. I still have it sitting around unused from that PaizoCon. I have 7 of the Scoured Stars segments and am GMing Heart of the Foe in PBP to get my 8th. We'll be done in a couple weeks, and I'd planned to get the full boon for four of my characters by the end of Dec. Sadly, two of them have more than 8 Fame, but less than 24, so only one gets to benefit from the reduced price. ![]()
![]() Blog wrote: " Every Starfinder session played prior to May 31, 2021 will retroactively award 2 Achievement Points to both players and GMs. (emphasis added) The original blog post used 28 May as the cut off between Fame and AcP. PaizoCon Online 2021 was the weekend of the 28th through the 31st. Those sessions already earned AcP. Based on the wording above, the ones played at the Con (and elsewhere) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (but not on Monday the 31st) would now also earn 2 more bonus AcP each. So why now make it "prior" to May 31st? Or was it supposed to be "prior to May 28th," the original switch over date? (Not that I mind a few extra AcP, just trying to avoid misunderstandings and miscalculations if it was just a publishing error.) ![]()
![]() As promised. Here's the link to a Google Doc with bb-code for all 4 of the pregens in one file, in the order presented in the pdf. Commenting is allowed. Issues: Envoy: Short 1 language (not corrected). Note that Signature Item is from Tech Revolution, so I added the text since TechRev is not on AoN yet. Vanguard: None. Technomancer: I don't have AA2 in HLO so I don't have the Uplifed Bear. I had to build a custom race in HLO, and I can't be sure I got everything right. Please check it over. He seems to have 3 extra ability score points from the point buy than he should. I did not correct this, as I couldn't be sure it wasn't something I did wrong, and didn't want to invalidate the whole published build either way. Operative: As previously mentioned, short 1 language (not corrected), and ranged attack modifier is incorrect (fixed). Note too that none of them have Engineering tool kits, even though all of them except the Vanguard have ranks in Engineering. I did not fix that; though, I think it probably should be hand-wave-fixed. ![]()
![]() I've done the Operative. I built it in HeroLab Online, then used HLO's export to BBCode option. It's not perfect, it doesn't include url links, but it doesn't take too long, and it's usable by players. I'll knock out the rest of them today or tomorrow. Once I'm done, I'll post a link to a Google Doc with the bb-code text. So far, the Operative is short one language and the needler attack is off by 4 as The Ragi noted If anyone wants to share their slide deck as payback, I'd really appreciate it. ![]()
![]() Anyone planning to make bb-code of the pregens for player's aliases for PBP? I mean, I could start, but I'd hate to spend hours trying to get it all formatted, only to find out someone else had a macro or something and had it done in minutes. I'm letting my players choose their characters now by using the pdf, especially since I've got a player that's new to SF and PBP. ![]()
![]() Page 3 makes it sound like the players don't actually have to use the pregens. Is this to be allowed in Society play? Are players allowed to use the pregens but change equipment as suggested below? Or "minor aspects"? What's minor? An operative exploit? A feat? Or will there be a published policy to play the pregens as written for this event? Mixing up the Crew wrote: Your group might prefer to use a crew of your own creation for The Great Grav-Train Robbery instead of the pregenerated characters provided here. New characters should work fine in this adventure, or you might consider keeping the pregenerated stat blocks while changing equipment and minor aspects as necessary. Although everyone in the crew is a career criminal, they’re antiheroes in the Robin Hood sense, not outright villains, and any characters you create for the robbery should share a common philosophy that encourages cooperation and discourages unequivocally evil actions. Oh, and thanks for linking that, Oh Great Queen of PBP (forever Queen in my heart, at least.) ![]()
![]() Bigguyinblack wrote: As hinted at already Bonekeep is meant to be a challenging series and much of that challenge is trying to finish within a set time period. I had hoped they would find a way to compensate for that. But we do this for Specials already. Look at the current run of Blood Under Absalom for Gameday X. There's a schedule of days based on how many minutes are allotted for each Act. If Bonekeep is supposed to be completed in 4 hours, just do the math and set a finish-by date. And it could even be run faster via PBD given the pace of play in that venue. ![]()

![]() GM Numbat wrote: GM chronicles are based on the assigned character not on what the table did. So your 7th level character receives a chronicle appropriate for 7th level. And in keeping with GM Numbat's phrasing, any boons on the chronicle (from older season scenarios) are available to the GM's character regardless of the players' actions that may have denied them certain boons. In those situations where there are two mutually exclusive boons (e.g. You get one for saving the numbats, or a different one for saving their mortal enemies the drop bears), the GM may choose which boon they get, again not based on what the table did. I'm sure phaeton knew this, just adding to the discussion in case someone new to GMing reads it. ![]()

Just make sure that you hand-write your PFS number and Forum name on a piece of paper that you include in the photo for verification. ![]()
