As I read it, if they Fail at the first check to Approach the Elemental, they still arrive just without impressing them. Crit failing still carries the penalty of losing 1 Peacemaker Point.
So for example, if someone does Athletics to Swim up to Vesimer: Crit Success and Success get their appropriate Peacemaker Points because they had strong strokes and looked like they knew what they were doing. Failing the check means they made it across the water, but Vesimer was unimpressed. Crit Failure means Vesimer had to scoop the PC out of the water to save them, and they lose a Point though they still arrive to make their case.
Both for me. I find the 3-action system to be simpler than getting wrapped up over "move" actions that are not actually moving.
Also, nearly no enemies have AOs (called Reactive Strikes) in the early levels. It comes online for players and enemies at later levels.
There's no free 5-foot step, nor are there Swift actions, but the whole system is just cleaner overall.
And of course, in PbP you have time to look things up. If you want, I can PM you when I run another table. PaizoCon Online PbP play just started this week, so it won't be for another couple months before I do.
Oh, and there's no multi-classing the way Hep (or even Holan-Ji) was built. You can mix features of classes, but it's harder and less rewarding than the 1-level dip everyone did in 1e.

Gotta say it's an unusual situation to be GMing for a 4-glyph GM the very first he ever plays (as a player) face to face. But he RPed a lot, and his character was a lot of fun, even if he had to step back a bit having run and played the scenario before.
I ran Silver Bark, Golden Blades, and I think I chose all the options that no one else ever uses. Even GM Tiger was caught off guard (non-mechanically) by some of them.
It was an honor and a joy to get to play with this new local Manila / Alabang group. I hope Tiger is able to keep the group going so that I can return later in the year when I get back to Asia.
I mean, someone has to GM for him so he can do his own characters' silly voices. :)

GM Tiger did a great job. Especially given that the other 4 players have only ever played once or twice each and only one was playing the same character they'd played before. Lots of learning by everyone!
Hopefully next weekend, I'll be GMing, and he'll get to play F2F for the first time and show these youngun's some serious RP!
Oh, of course. level 1 doh (head slap as i realize what I asked.)
But could use the optional Ancestry Paragon rule for an extra ancestry feat.
Does it allow for adventure mode (or whatever it's called now) with options like Free Archetype allowed? Either way, you know what, I'd be down also. Especially to play a class I've never used and/or don't plan to keep as the final build.

Best of luck to you! You get a circumstance bonus for using a Hero Point to retake the test, right?
I'm not at liberty to say, given that this forum is not rated for that.
@Rybar: Have fun! Don't do anything I did my last few visits to Cebu. ;)
Any idea what level or class your Evaluator will be bringing?
We're low tier even with my level 6, unless they bring a level 5 or 6 also.
I'd like to play Locus even though she's a level 6. But if the Evaluator is also brining a high-tier character, I'll switch down.
I know, "play what you want," but I don't want to pull three level 3's into the high tier just so I can do so.
As for provisions, either of the 2 characters I bring can cast heal.

Bramblespine consults his map and everyone checks down the western path where you find what is obviously the exit - a bright tear in the fabric of space/time. However, knowing that you've not finished mapping and clearing the Nether Citadel, you return to the path leading from the room where the locked door was.
The hall leads to a large room that seems to be a crypt or catacomb, its walls full of niches. A ladder hangs partway down from the center of the largest chamber, though the area above it seems to have collapsed as its exit is entirely obscured by rubble. Cruel laughter echoes off the walls, and the shadows seem even deeper than elsewhere in this shadowed place, the room even colder.
As soon as you enter, the laughter cuts off ominously. As you pause to see what's about to happen, Lesley and Melania both realize that the collapse is certainly similar and related to the intentional collapse that you found earlier.
Suddenly, you hear a slight swishing sound from both of the corridors and darkness seems to literally rush forward towards Qigiq and the Cap'n!

Yes. In your Org Play account, go to the GM/Event Coordinator tab. I always have to hit Refresh Points to see anything.
Or you can use 40 SFS ACP to buy a Replay boon from the Boon store.

Cal is level 8. I just need to finish updating his character page profile also.
Calaverthorna ("Cal to all his friends and lovers") is a scoundrel (in more ways than one) rogue: high Cha, intimidation build.
He's at 8.2 (92 xp) currently, but I need to update his PBP profile. I have not played or run any of the scenarios in this series. He is available now, and is the only character I have that would fit into the level ranges.
I've got a 9 that doesn't get enough play, and an 8 that might level up soon. Would love to get some play for them, but would have to look over the various scenarios to see what I've played already. I could even run something in exchange depending on the timing.
Most of my characters get mentor boons from 2 different factions. Usually Horizon Hunters for the saving throw bonus since I start all my blobs in HH anyway. Then a second one from a faction more related to the character. That way if another player at the table only has one to give, then I have a second boon for a low lever character to use, or at least an option.
And because Clothing is not armor, it can't accept talismans or spellhearts, as I understand it.
DoubleGold wrote: So how do we get credit for playtest? Do we need to make another Pathfinder 2e character, Starfinder character, or do we just make up an SFS #2 number. GMs only report your Org Play number without a character number attached. You get Starfinder ACP, and you check a box on your Starfinder Playtest Tracking Sheet. Said tracking sheet is included in the Playtest scenarios, so your GM can give you one. There's no chronicles and no XP credit toward any character.
The Anchoring trait says: "You can use abilities with the anchoring trait only while your quantum field is activated. If you use the ability on your turn, in addition to their stated effects, they automatically Sustain your quantum field." (emphasis added)
Warp Wounds is a reaction with the Anchoring trait, and is the only one of the WW's 6 reactions to have the trait. But Anchoring seems useless on this particular reaction if the benefit of Anchoring is limited to being used "on your turn."
Quantum Recycle lets "You regain an expended spell slot one spell rank lower than the triggering spell." As written, if I cast a rank 3 spell, I can only regain a rank 2 slot, but not a rank 1 slot. This seems unnecessarily limiting. Why not say "... at most one spell rank lower..."
I'm not seeing the "Starfinder Playtest Tracking Sheet" on the playtest site. Are we still supposed to use that, or is the reporting system all that's needed?
I’ll have to pass on Pallid Plague, sorry.

Wow! I didn't realize you all had been going that long. Looks like Holan-Ji joined in March of 2021, so I've only been here for half.
Okay, Origins is a wrap. I GMed both SF Specials and a PF2 Bounty. Played a bunch and saw several folks from previous cons and traveling games. Hillary and Bret (Hmm and bretl) were here, as was Ivis and Alex among many many others. Some nice news "coming soon" on the Paizo hiring front (we got an early announcement, but it hasn't been officially announced.)
Back to this session, we've just got some RP to deal with the Shadow, Sergeant Major Sumidagawa.
@Lady - Can you add a list of Org Play and character numbers to the Scenario list for the other GMs' reference, and edit the Scenario list to show who has volunteered to GM which scenarios coming up, please.

It's about half way down the list of source books.

I'm not the GM for this one, but I can answer at least the first one in case GM rainzax is busy.
Archetypes are not allowed under the Playtest Rules, specifically down in the Battlecry! Playtest section.
Everything else should be per normal PFS sanctioning.
Captain Kullan is ready and reporting for duty!

I am still interested, but with PaizoCon this weekend and Memorial Day for the US residents, it may be a couple days until you get more interest.
I'm putting together my titan nagaji Commander, Captain Kullan. (Yes, the character this gets held for and applied to has a nagaji boon.)
Formerly a Marine in the Nagajor anti-piracy patrols, he was sent to Absalom and became Captain of the Nagajor Embassy Guards. When he received a new assignment back to the capital, he opted to retire instead as he didn't want to make his new-found wife relocate. As a halfling, while she wouldn't be shunned, it would be harder for her there than it is for him to pick up work in Absalom. So he took up the name of Captain Kullan after the main mountain range in Nagajor, and proudly wears the national flag on his shield.
Front-line melee Commander. This will play very differently from how Tepin was in my Battlecry! playtest game.
I'll endeavor to get his properly-formatted profile up in the next couple days.
What tier are you wanting? Specifically what tier do you want the Commander and Guardian built at?
I'd be up to try my hand at playing a Commander, and level 3 offers more class options, of course.
Edit: Nice token at the front of the thread title :)
Edit 2: Alternatively, I have a level 2 air/water kineticist that I could bring.
And so with the Big Bad down, and only a mook and some skill checks and RP to close out, do we have a volunteer to GM the next one?
As I said, I can; but if I do run this next one also, I'd like to know that someone else will take over after that, though.

Disregard. I've already played this, and it's not Repeatable.

Venture-Captain Bjersig Torrsen calls the PCs north to the town of Iceferry in the frigid Land of the Linnorm Kings. There, Bjersig informs the Pathfinders that he has a request from the family of a storied and long-dead Linnorm King. The family's patriarch, the warrior Hlavard Grenskuldr, appears to have perished in a shipwreck while wearing the family's heirloom, the gorget of the Linnorm King Grehunde the Sunchaser. For one hundred generations the family has passed this heirloom down from parent to child, until Hlavard sought to wear it on a journey to Valenhall as Grehunde herself had intended to do before perishing with the task unfinished. Unwilling to leave the relic to rust away in a watery grave, Hlavard's family has requested the Pathfinder Society's assistance in locating the shipwreck and retrieving the family treasure.

Fussou = 8
Calavar = 8
If I bring Shaq and our 6th player (joejungers?) brings anything other than a 5, we're high tier anyway.
If I bring Shaq and our 6th player brings a 5, APL is 6.5 exactly, and it's up to party vote.
If I bring Skorp, we're automatically high tier.
The operatives have ranged and skills covered, the Envoy is the Face, and we've got a mystic healer. I'll still wait to see what joe brings, rather than pick one and end up duplicating roles.
I have 2 characters available depending on what others are bringing. I'm happy to play either as I enjoy both.
Skorpahlich: level 8, Witchwarper (Enhanced), Intimidator and offensive spellcasting.
XHC-5: aka "Shaq" the Big Man. Level 7 haan xenometric android vanguard. Large size with a reach weapon, melee and battlefield control.

Happy Lunar New Year from Asia, which just seems especially apropos for this group.
Happy Lunar New Year from Asia, though I expect no one else celebrates it, and even I won't be really celebrating since I have to fly all day today. But it's the thought that counts, right?
My apologies. My laptop died today. Won't power on. Posting from phone really isn't going to work. Please give me a couple days to see what I can do from the road about this. Sorry.
Ahhhh, which one to go to? I love my friends at Mox, but it would also be nice to see Hmm and Bret again. Wendy-Ann hosts great cons, and I had fun at PacificCon 2017 so I'm sure KublaCon would be great, too. I've never been to Manchester, though....
So many great choices of where to enjoy PaizoCon from!
I don't celebrate either one (nor really any holidays at all). I bid schedules to work them, letting a junior pilot have the chance of getting it when they might not have otherwise.
Xmas was a 3-day layover in Nanjing China. Not a particularly interesting, nor English-accessible city, and the Dangerous air-quality index levels didn't help.
The following week, I departed Alaska about 2 hours before midnight on New Years Eve and landed back in China in the wee hours of the 2nd, so 1 Jan never happened for me.
But I'm enjoying my 3 days off in Japan on my current trip and looking forward to 3 days in Hong Kong next week. Such is the life of a Nomad.
@chadius, would you mind sharing your prompts and settings for the AI portrait you made of Petal? I've been messing around with Stable Diffusion under Automatic 1111 doing character portraits for a couple of mine also, but her's is AMAZING!

GM Ladile wrote: @Nomadical - I'll allow Wildborn Magic & Wildborn Ancestry. Depending on the specifics you had in mind for her backstory, she could have come to the area with the eight (unnamed) elven adventurers that eventually formed the Silvermist Lodges, whether she was an adventurer or not at the time. Thank you.
I think perhaps she's not among the original eight, but having heard of Willowshore's welcoming attitude toward elves from one of them who'd since departed the town, she headed that way to give it a shot and arrived about the time that the last of the Eight were leaving. Maybe some townsfolk don't realize or no longer remember that she's not one of the Eight and mistakenly refer to her that way, while others that she's corrected about it or who are close to her are aware, though in the end it really doesn't matter. She'll live in the eastern W5 zone, and she's friends (Close Ties) with You So-Jin from W4 who did the Reenactment last year, and now it's her turn.
GM Ladile wrote: Read Psychometric Resonance is also allowed, because it can be a good way to slip extra backstory stuff into the game that characters might never learn otherwise. I do ask that, y'know, she doesn't do object reading for every single thing she picks up, though ;) Noted. I wouldn't have used it that way, anyway. It's an Exploration activity requiring half-speed movement, so I think doing it in normal day-to-day life might be psychically overwhelming.
I'll get her page up this week.

UncleFroggy wrote: I have a half-elven rogue ready.

I'm actually glad you did this. I've been crafting a psychic as a backup, and with your rogue covering all those Medicine things, I think I'll switch to that one so we have a full caster. She'll go into the Ritualist archetype at 4th level.
@GM: I'd like to take Wildborn Magic as an ancestry feat on an Elf/Dhampir Psychic, leading to Wildborn Adept at 5th. Wildborn magic has an ethnicity requirement of "Mualijae ethnicity," which are one of the Mwangi elven communities.
If you're okay with that feat, I could spin the backstory that she was ostracized by her Mualijae elven community for being a dhampir two or three hundred years ago. She wandered the world (like some guy we know), and finally found peace in the sleepy little village of Willowshore where no one cares how she looks. So she's not originally from here, but everyone accepts her since she's been here so long.
Alternatively, you could simply waive the ethnicity requirement, and I'll build her as a life-long Tian elf resident of Willowshore.
Or just tell me to pound sand cause ethnicity requirements are there for balance reasons. You're the GM, and I respect your call.
Also, requesting access to the Uncommon skill feat Read Psychometric Resonance at 2nd level. It seems like it might fit a horror campaign, being from Dark Archive. AFAIK there's no Society access to it available.

Oops. I was thinking that Medicine checks weren't Positive healing, so they'd be okay. Forgot that Treat Wounds specifies a "living" creature. That said, the only mention of "living" in the Medicine check actions is under Treat Wounds. Administering First Aid, or treating diseases or poisons only say "creature" or "patient."
Likewise, since Battle Medicine just uses the DC and is not actually Treat Wounds, it's also not subject to the restriction of a living creature either, I think. No mention of that restriction in the text of Battle Medicine.
I've adjusted the investigator to also take stitch flesh at level 2, and Continual Recovery at 3, if I go with that character.
Still haven't heard about characters from 2 of the 6, so I'm not fully committing to my build yet.
Sneakerz wrote: Being sure to address how I can get healed.. Medicine check related healing works fine. If I stick with the investigator, he's taking Medic as his free archetype, Battle Medicine at 1st, and Continual Recovery at 3rd. By 3rd level, he'll have +11.
But if I go with the psychic, we'll need someone to be able to heal, including healing the skeleton.
@GM Have you considered allowing any of the non-Society options, particularly Free-archetype?
The AP Player's Guide seems to imply that having someone with the Ritualist Dedication is pretty important, though that dedication isn't even available until level 4. As I mentioned, my backup plan in case no one else goes full-caster would be a psychic, and if so I'd want to go Ritualist to make sure we have one. Using free archetype would make that choice less of a tax, and opens up build options for everyone that we don't get to see in PFS.
Psychic build: Human or half-elf. Gathered Lore subconscious mind (INT based), Infinite Eye conscious mind. Background TBD. Willowshore Lore

Revision 1.
How about a ratfolk investigator w/ Forensic specialty, probably Medic archetype at 2nd level. An apprentice to the town healer, Doctor Damihansig Mababangloob (location W19 "The Hand of Spring", page 20), though he specializes as the coroner. Loves a good murder mystery, but in such a small town, there never seems to be one that's interesting (though that's admittedly a good thing in general.) Probably the Northridge Scholar background looking to establish a small medical school someday. On friendly terms with the town vet (location W2) since they let him practice autopsies on the animals that pass naturally.
Again, though, if someone else really wants to do Investigator or something similar like alchemist, I'll switch back to full caster.
Oops. Forgot to add, Duskwalker heritage with Willing Death ancestry feat.

Hey oh! Good to see some of you again! Thank you, Lady L for the invite. As she mentioned in her PM to me, she knows I'm big on Tian Xia stuff especially where the lore intersects with IRL Asia.
Looks like we've got front line covered with monk and champion, plus a kineticist can usually switch-hit.
I'm leaning full caster, and if so probably psychic.
Or if someone else is going full caster, I would happily play an investigator.
I copy all that. Just let me know when everyone's ready to start. No hurry; no worries.
