The Starfinder Playtest is online now!

So how do we get credit for playtest? Do we need to make another Pathfinder 2e character, Starfinder character, or do we just make up an SFS #2 number.
GMs only report your Org Play number without a character number attached. You get Starfinder ACP, and you check a box on your Starfinder Playtest Tracking Sheet. Said tracking sheet is included in the Playtest scenarios, so your GM can give you one. There's no chronicles and no XP credit toward any character.

So I took the survey sheet on the classes, what abilities do you think is most powerful and such, but there was no place for comments at the end.
Soldier in Starfinder 1e has full bab, but in Starfinder 2e, he is an expert in no weapons.
Operative in Starfinder 1e has 3/4 bab, but in Starfinder 2e, he is an expert in guns.
I put mediocre on the soldiers power with trained in weapons.
In the early levels this evens out in Starfinder 1e, cause an Operatives trick attack in Starfinder 1e makes him flatfooted, so -2 to ac, assuming you roll high enough for both the trick attack and the attack. But considering you have to succeed at 2 rolls instead of 1, the operative hits his target about the same amount as the soldier. At level 4, you are down 1 BAB, but the enemy is flat footed, you still have still succeed at the the trick attack though which is usually a low roll. Past level 8 in Starfinder 1e, The Soldier hits more often than the Operative cause that is when the BAB is 2 difference.
What I'm saying is make the Soldier an expert in something, or give him an ability where can increase his proficiency to expert temporarily.

Organised play for second edition hasn't launched yet, there's only the playtest at this point. As a result, whatever I'm going to say now may change once the final rules are released:
For the purposes of the playtest, the GM decides what rules to allow, but it is highly advisable to stick to the core rules to players know what to expect.
For recruitment on Augustana station, we'd expect you to run something close to vanilla rules, since the goal of this group is to bring organised play players/gms together. For adventure path recruitment, the recruitment board is still available.
In additon, on the paizo boards, the usage rules of the paizo boards still apply.
In my opinion:
One of the goals of the playtest is to figure out if the current set of rules if sufficiently balanced. Introducing 'house rules' defeats that purpose, and potentially gives the wrong impression of the new system by introducing imbalances that weren't designed.

I'm wondering if the spells from the Pathfinder Core rulebook are available for Witchwarpers. There are spells there I would rather use instead of the ones in the Starfinder Core.
Update: I just looked at the pregen. It appears that they do. Looks like I'll be redoing my level 1 Witchwarper before levelling up to 2.

Hello wonderful players, gamemasters, and community members.
I am trying to pull together some thoughts about what we do in our lodges (the result is hopefully going to become something like a mission statement for our lodges here on the forums, or at least what the VO team is trying to do), and would like to collect any ideas you want to share before I even sit down to start sketching out ideas. If there is anything you would like to share for the forums VO team to think about, please let any of us know. You are welcome to post in any of the lodge discussion threads, send any of us a PM here on the forums, or contact any of us on Discord or by email. My email is on the domain orgplayonline.com and has the same username that I use here without the Spacefarer prefix.
Thank you in advance for any thoughts or ideas you send.
Once we have something written up, we will be asking for your input again. We have an amazing community here, and I want to come up with something that can help us get even better as well as celebrating what we have.

One thing I'd like to see is more DMs and it will take more than boons and additional ACP rewards to create that.
Help Dms be apart of the community. For example, for the first 10 games a DM dms at a convention/gameday total in all the convention he/she has been at, that person gets to submit a new mundane item to Paizo, with 1 out of every 1,000 doing this getting picked and revised. It can be a weapon, an armor, whatever. Example: Joe Dms 5 games at outpost and another 5 at Gen-Con. That's 10, so he submits and item called carboard sword. Bulk light. 1d4 Blunt damage. -1 to hit vs creatures wearing armor as it can't cut through armor, but it is easy to handle, so +1 to hit vs creatures not wearing armor, even if it is natural armor like trolls. Agile, Finesse, simple weapon. Paizo then looks at it for balance and says, okay but the Carboard sword is an advanced weapon and does slashing as they propose a counteroffer to Joe. Joe agrees, his cardboard sword gets submitted along with 999 other contestants. Or his work gets submitted, his name gets picked out of a hat and Paizo then looks at his item after he has been picked and revises it to make it fair.
30 games Dmed, person can submit a magic item if/he she wants up to level 5
40 games Dmed, magic item up to level 10
50 games Dmed, a person can submit a monster
100 games dmed and the person can submit a magic item up to level 20 or a new race or class.
200 games Dmed and the person can write a scenario for Paizo to look at, all scenarios written by these people will be under season 0.
Games Dmed will not be retroactive, meaning the person has to DM games at gamedays and outposts after Feb 2025, not before.
| Spacefarer Redelia |
GMs who are running Outpost games here on the forums, can you please post your threads to the signup spreadsheet before February 6 (the start of general player signup)? If your game is FCFS, what's most urgent is to post your gameplay link, because your players need to be able to dot in when they sign up. If you're doing GM choice or lottery, we need your recruitment link so players can apply as soon as signups start.
If you have any questions about this or if this is your first forum game and you need help setting up your threads and campaign, please post here or ask any of the forum VOs and we'll help.

Hey! Look at this!
Some really loud Strawberry Machine Cake starts playing.
Paizo is doing a big update, starting today! A lot of new announcements will come over the next week, so expect them fondly!
There's a new blog post on Starfinder Society and the second edition of Starfinder! Here's the release schedule of upcoming info!

Okay, I thought I had till the 31st of July to report the playtest games for my players to get ACP. I'm trying to report the playtest games my players finished a few weeks ago, but it is not allowing me. I couldn't report it right away cause my computer crashed and I was running everything by phone. I had to placeholder save the info as 1-01 until I can edit it to playtest.
Edit: Fixed, it was under Starfinder 1st edition, not 2nd.

For those who are watching, Herolab Online now has support for Starfinder 2, not just the playtest. I believe it's free to use for a few days if you have an account for one of the other systems.
I don't know about the other character builders; hopefully some of you can let everyone know when your favorite character builder has support for the new game.

Hello fellow SFS2 GMs,
I made an impassioned plea for more sanctioned content for Starfinder 2E here:
A Plea for more sanctioned Starfinder Society content
I really want Murder in Metal City and other module length content to be sanctioned. If you agree, I would love to have your voices join mine. And if you disagree, that is fine too.

ATTENTION ALL STARFINDERS
(and potential skittermanders)!
As noted in recent blog post for the August 2025 Organized Play Monthly Update, the deadline is September 5th for players to register their first Starfinder Society (second edition) game and unlock a skittermander character in Pathfinder Society! For play-by-post community, this applies specifically to games begun on or before September 5th!

I've got 2 SF2e chronicles so far. Where do we find the boon to unlock a skittermander character in Pathfinder Society? Or will it only be available after the deadline?
I believe that a downloadable boon does not exist at present.
I would recommend that players print the page from the Paizo Sessions sheet showing that a qualifying Starfinder Society game was played (or make a copy of the chronicle sheet for that game), which unlocked the skittermander, and include the copy with their chronicle sheets for the new Pathfinder Society skittermander PC so it can be readily demonstrated if the PC happens to be audited.

Since Paizocon South East starts on the 5th of September (New Zealand local), hopefully some of us Kiwis can get qualifying games in before the deadline.

Greetings! It has been years since I did any PbP, and also years since I've played Starfinder, but with the new edition coming out I was feeling the siren call to return.
I know you all just started a gameday so I don't expect any new games to be starting up soon, but it will take me some time anyway to remember how the forums work... and read the new Starfinder rules... and the SFS rules...
So for now I'll just express general interest in any SFS2 scenarios whenever a chance comes up. And maybe down the road I'll be able to GM again once I remember how things work.

Hello Everybody! This is Bright and sparkling Zoey with a special announcement! The people at Paizo want to let you know that the software for the forum needs an update. Something with the forum randomly playing Carrion Crooners songs that they couldn't trace. Sometime in the next few days, the forums may not be accessible, so if you can't read this message, that's why.
We're expecting the forums to be inaccessible for a few days soon (perhaps next week?). As a reminder, you can always check this discord for Organised Play topics
Edit: adding Ebonfist's message:
The announcement about the launch of the new paizo store may have some people concerned about what will happen to the forums and how that will impact play here in general and PBP Gameday XIV games in particular. There is no expected impact other than the "couple of days" downtime for the games that are being run off the forums. However, we all know that tech upgrades rarely go smoothly, so we will need to be flexible and roll with whatever happens.
For standard scenarios being run on the Paizo Forums, that means just checking in on your games regularly and waiting for the site to come back up. If technical glitches keep games from being finished before the end date of Gameday, we will work with you to finish up and get some late reporting in.
For those running or playing in the PFS1, PFS2, or SFS1 Multi-Table Specials, we will likely pause ALL games (both on the forums and in the discords) until the forums players are able to rejoin.
Keep Calm and remember you have a +2 bonus to Will Saves against fear (of the forums breaking) effects.
Note that the will save also works against Carrion Crooner songs

Hello everybody! This is Bright and Sparkling Zoey! Are you all enjoying Spookyween? There's been a lot of scary stories going around, but I want to tell everybody not to worry!
You may have heard this one:
Not so spooky, huh? Still, the forum will be down (and the whole site!) for 2-3 days from November 3rd, so if you can't read this post that's why!
Off-camera, Deedee is throwing an evil glare at Zoey for repeating a joke.
When all of that is over, we'll be back with the same old forum you all know and love! Everything is going to be alright!
