Solie scuttles over to her fallen companion. How many times had he died today? She'd lost count. She gave him a shake and when he didn't stir she smacked him with a healing spell. Hopefully one big enough to get such a big fellow back on his feet! CLW on Biggun: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Solie lowers her crossbow and pulls out the wand of fiery death the human had bestowed upon her. Truly, it was a gift worthy of the Sun God she'd someday be. She'd have to remember to give Palo a place of honor at her court for such a kingly gift. Using it now would be death for her friends, so she moves into the room to try to get a good position. Move action to draw wand, another to get into the room so she can find an angle to blas these things with next round

Solie slowly woke up and tried to find a tissue. She apparently was having a bad booger day. Her fingers did not, of course, find tissue but rather something seeming to be closing her in. And she was wet. That didn't make sense either. Solie had stopped wetting the bed at least 5 years ago. Solie started pounding her fists on the glass as the liquid drained away. "No Solie! You put that out right now! No not--- there..." Solie cackled to herself as the trash bin went up in flames and a few bystanders scrambled to get water on the small blaze. Scorch marks followed Solie more accurately than her own footprints. It wasn't her fault! The flames danced just so beautifully she couldn't help herself. "Solie, that is it. We can't just let this keep sliding. I expect you in my office tomorrow morning. Maybe a day in a cell will keep you from causing so much trouble!" The sheriff's tone was as serious and exhausted as a gnome could sound. Maybe he meant it this time. The grumbles and nods of the townsfolk who were nosing in on the scene seemed to suggest it was serious. "No! You can't keep me in there! I'll run away!" Solie shouted back before fleeing back to her own home. She chucked a few of her favorite items into a rather shabby looking bag then snuck out the window. Of course, there was no need to sneak. No one was trying to make her stay. How offensive! She'd show them. She'd show them all some day! Solie half woke up, mumbled a foul goblin slur about the sheriff, then fell back asleep.

Apologies for being AWOL. It's been a busy week. Got a new job, found a new place (moving over Jan 2-3) and been Xmas shopping and party planning. Realistically, I'm not going to post tonight (I'm wiped and a lil tipsy from the party), but I assure you a post is coming up tomorrow assuming my house doesn't opt to burn itself down in the night!
Raziya offers the woman a reassuring smile. "I understand your hesitance and concern. But rest assured, we simply mean to offer our aid in investigating the matter." Adelaide gives Olaff a harmless smack on the arm. "Don't you dare. This is their home. It's just as likely they were attracted here after the fungus took root. They are just doing what their nature dictates." She watches them a moment longer as they work to build... whatever it is. "Imagine if you were trying to build a house in a city made for humans, then someone came into kill you saying you were ruining the landscape and were sentenced to death. You'd be more than a little frightened and confused, that's for certain."

I've only worked with illustrator once, and it was for our DM Rat King when I was doing his photoshop class for him. I don't think he actually did a single project himself for that class... His final piece was a comic book cover I did for him. I hated it. I'd never used illustrator before and Alex never listened in his class and couldn't tell me what to do either... It turned out okay, but I seriously uninstalled illustrator right after and vowed to never touch it again. I much prefer just doodling in programs like SAI and coloring in photoshop.

With all in agreeable, Zisel loosens the man from his bindings. "Seems you'll get a second chance today. Hopefully you'll use it to redeem yourself in the eyes of the gods," she says to him. "I recommend that direction." She points back the way they came from, away from his companions. Knowledge(local): 1d20 ⇒ 11
Turning to Grinnell, she shrugs. "Used to be an order of Rangers who kept watch from Qadiran threats. But seeing as there is very little of that, the attentions turned to more local matters. Such as hunting bandits in the first. Almost seems ironic that the bandits are using it..."
Adelaide lit the night with four dancing lights she maintained at various spots around her. She continued bailing out water as necessary with occasional breaks to sit on her cot and hum quietly to herself while Olaff and Sborki went off to find food. Not exactly going as planned, she admitted to herself. Could be worse. you could have been arrested instead of just wanted. Maybe dead. Yeah, could have gone worse, all things considered. When the others return with food, she'll join them for a quick meal before giving a yawn, and announcing her intent to head to bed. Assuming we can still sleep on the boat, or is that not a viable option?
Elsie clicked her tongue and planted a hand on her hips, looking to the two women of the group. Those had been who she had actually come to see anyways. Not the men. There was something comforting about a woman sitting on a park bench knitting and with a bird. Like a Disney Princess. And her granny. Best of both worlds. The other lady was... Well actually maybe that one was no good, too. Ah yes, children. So innocent. So judgmental. "You know, I'm ten. Not an idiot. 'Strange Police Officers'? What are you, like those ones who dance in zebra panties at my mom's pool parties?" She sighs and climbs up onto the bench beside the woman knitting and swings her legs. Whatever her big talk, she's obviously still a kid looking for her mom. Scary stuff.
I want to do a thing. A very specific thing. Therefore, I should just run the thing myself!
Alright, so bear with me as I ramble a bit to try to explain what I want to do here. The Concept
Now, I'm also looking to run these at a starting level of somewhere between level 10 and 15 because that's typically when the fun stuff starts coming in. And lets face it, in a PBP, leveling seems to take forever. I want some instant gratification here! It also means some extra work on my part because some of the modules we may run are going to be made for lower level and I'll have to do some CR adjusting. It's also important that you understand that this is going to be VERY roleplay focused. No murderhoboing. Nothing takes longer in a PBP than combat. I'm hoping to adjust combat to last no more than 2 to 3 rounds. Maybe 4 or 5 if it's like, a super BBEG. The idea is that we do light adventuring between modules as we make our way from one town to the next. This would be things like navigating through a twisted forest, figuring out how to cross a big chasm, maybe picking up a bounty or two and getting a little girl's kitten out of the tree. And of course, all the while you'll be creating inter-party bonds! I'm also thinking about bringing in Factions to hand out some other side quest objectives. We'll see. What I Get Out of It
What I Need
Recruitment should be open for a few days (three to five-ish?), but may close sooner or later depending on how recruitment goes! Application Requirements:
Tell me why this campaign concept appeals to you Just so I know that we are all looking for the same kind of things. All the better to avoid disappointment down the road >.> Include a basic character concept with level 10 crunch I'm not set on level yet, but it won't be lower than 10. I figure it's easier to level up than it is to level down. Write a BRIEF character info segment A wall of text is painful. Anything more than three paragraphs is probably going to make me groan. I called it character info rather than a background because I don't want a detailed history. I'm more concerned about who they are now rather than who they were. As a tip for appealing to me: I really don't give two sticks about your character's parents or childhood. I want to know what they've done recently! Show me you're good people I'm also kind of judging on who you are. I'm not looking to get into a game with an asshat, no matter how good their writing is. I mean, don't give me your life story, but it wouldn't hurt to let your own personality come through in some way.
Character Creation Guidelines:
25 point buy You're welcome MAD classes. Level 10 As mentioned in the Application section, I'm not set on this being the starting level, but it's easier to level a character up than down. Any race under 18RP But I warn you, I'm biased towards core races. Oh, and no alien races or androids. And no drow. I rain on all your parades. Most class and archetypes are pretty okay Barbarians, rogues, and summoners should all be unchained. Monks can choose to be unchained or not. No gunslingers or any other tech/gun classes or archetypes. None of those what is it... Saurian druids? Anti-Paladins are being changed from CE to LE and will be smiting chaos and what not to keep them viable. I hate classes with an Asian theme, but I'm not flat out banning them. Don't play stupid alignment You can be any alignment, but don't play stupid alignment. That probably means don't play CE, but hey, if you can make it not stupid, power to you. HP is max at first level, average every level after A d6 gets 3.5, d8 gets 4.5, d10 gets 5.5, and d12 gets 6.5. The .5 is rounded down, but not lost, so you get the extra 1hp every other level basically. Automatic Bonus Progression is in effect Make sure your character reflects that. I like this because it fosters more variety in slotted items. Read up on what magical items are no longer allowed in this game! Starting wealth of 31000gp Half of the usual due to the automatic bonus progression rules. No more than half of that can be spent on any single item. Two traits, or three with a drawback No campaign traits unless you beg me or something. Better have a good reason, too. Background skills are a go I have a few changes I make though. Perform skills are considered to be adventuring skills for bards, Handle Animal is an adventuring skill for players that take an animal companion, Craft(alchemy) is an adventuring skill for alchemists. Feat Tax Fixes are being implemented Please review the feat changes. No one likes huge feat chains. No leadership feats I'm a big meanie pants. "What about XYZ 3rd party material?" Eh... Depends what it is. This is not 3PP consent. This is "well, if you can convince me without being an argumentative ass about it then maybe". I'm already considering using Spheres of Power because I found it massively fun to tinker with, but I'm not sold on it yet. Build as if I'm going to say no, but just know that there is no harm in asking because I might say yes. Oh, but don't ask about psionics or godlings because those are a flat no.
Other Bits of Info:
Making Crafting Work is a document I'll be using It makes mundane crafting viable. Downtime Activities will be discussed Probably use some of it, maybe not all of it. I want a house, don't you? Daily posts are mandatory, but please be prepared to keep up with the post rate of the group, regardless of what it is Weekends, week days... One per day. Preferably more. Not every post needs to be a novel and sometimes a conversation requires only a line or two. If the rest of the group is putting out more, do your best to keep up. That said, if two characters are having a convo and posting every 5 mins, your character doesn't necessarily have to participate. Game duration I'm hoping to carry this game out for a decent chunk of time. That's why i want to focus on roleplay. Much easier to maintain than a mad scramble for mechanics and stat blocks. Hoping to get through a handful of modules at the very least. Maps on Google Draw Probably. I might swap over to Roll20, but for now, let's imagine they will be on Google Draw.
Alright! I think that about it! I'm hoping there are some people around here who might be interested in this sort of thing. Bonus points awarded to people who break down their math and numbers for me, so I don't have to!
So I think I have my character done-ish. I've gone with a Wildblooded Sorcerer with a Sylvan bloodline and a Wolf animal companion. I'm totally going for a very fairy tale theme. Elsie wears a red cloak and has named her Wolf companion 'Big Bad'. I figure her somatic component for spellcasting might be reciting snippets from Brothers Grimm or Mother Goose stories (which I fully intend to include while posting). I have her carrying a Book of Fairy Tales and used the pricing and weights of a Common Artisan Tool. I figured if there's musical instrument tools to aid with Perform skills, maybe a book could be a tool for Perform(oratory). Maybe even get a masterwork one later for a bonus eh, eh? :D I think the only thing I have left to do for the character’s crunch is to finish picking traits. There’s so many of them and I’m trying to stay pretty thematic and of course adhere to her background. I had originally wanted to run her as a dhampir, but I thought that unless we got a cleric or oracle necromancer running around, it wouldn’t work well for healing. Feel free to correct me if you plan on littering the campaign with potions of inflict (blank) wounds ;D I’d love to pick up that undead companion feat available to dhampirs at level 10 lol. Apologies for the length of... well, all of this. >.> Sometimes I get carried away. It can all be found on my profile as well. I've got so many aliases atm that I wanted to avoid making yet another until necessary! Elsie's Background:
Elsie grew up in a cookie-cutter house in a well to do suburban neighborhood with a loving mother and father who both worked hard to ensure Elsie had a comfortable life. She had a few close friends and an array of acquaintances. She out grew playdates a few years ago, but that didn’t stop her dad from dragging her over to his colleagues’ houses to meet their kids so he could look good. He meant well and they usually went for ice cream after so she couldn’t complain too much. Her mother was more of the stay at home type, though she did do a lot of volunteer work. Even still, she found the time to make all the meals, clean the house, and see Elsie safely to school every morning. But despite the appearance the Millers worked so hard to uphold, not all was fine and dandy. Mr and Mrs Miller had fallen out of love quite some time ago (shortly after the birth of Elsie, truth be told) and tensions always ran high until they erupted into a fury of screams. Sure, they tried to hide it from Elsie, but their efforts fell short. Nothing quite like laying alone in bed in the dark listening to your parents yelling profanities at each other! Blocking it all out was a required skill Elsie developed over time, made easier by the tablet she had gotten last Christmas. She had wanted a puppy, but after hearing her parents fight over whether or not that was a good idea, she retracted the idea. So there she was, sitting up in her room while her parents went at it again, drowning out the sound with cranked up music, funny pictures of cats, and Facebook...
Into the Game:
She must have dozed off. What’s this...? Oh, this is a weird dream. She must have fallen asleep playing one of her RPG apps. Not the first time she’s dreamed she was playing video games. Usually it was Mario, though. Wizard? No, that’s for boys... Oh, Sorcerers can be girls... She flipped through the options a few more times before settling on a human sorcerer. What the heck is a archie-taip? Oh, this one gets a pet! I’ll name him Big Bad, like the Wolf in the stories... Skill points? Uh... I guess I want to be pretty, so I’ll do that one... She hummed and hawed over the numbers a little longer before deciding she was sufficiently pretty according to the stats. A name? Why, I’m Elsie, Princess of the Fairy Tale Land! ...Oh, too many characters. Just Elsie then, I guess. She woke up again to a bright white light. ”No, momma, just five more minutes okay?” she grumbled. Bleary eyes strained to focus. ”...Momma?” This wasn’t her bed. She pushed herself up to sitting and rubbed at her eyes. ”M-momma?” This wasn’t even her house. She had heard on the news that people were going missing. ”MOMMA?!” she yelled even louder. Words flashed in front of her eyes along with various bars and numbers. What’s Gola-ree-on?

Adelaide frowns, a stern look leveled at the aging explorer. "Nonsense. You're traveling with a wielder of the arcane, one with the power to harness the primal energies of the earth. I hardly think a little low lighting is going to get in the way, hmm?" With that, Adelaide snaps her fingers four times, and each snap summons a ball of light around her. "See? Nice and bright now. So let's see that map."

As she looks at the dog with disgust, she hears a sound in the hut. "Shush you all! So noisy! You hear this? Metal is in there. Moving metal," Solie hisses as if she wasn't the noisiest of them all.

"Lovers aren't always the most rational right after a tragedy... I'd suggest putting that off. I understand the dwarf would prefer otherwise, but I believe we should speak to Katrezra first. I think it will produce the best results in the long run," Zisel puts in with a shrug. "I'm not sure that strangers making inquiries is the most comforting of things as it is."
Man, I go for my work out, come back and shits on fire, yo. Yeah I'm the girlfriend who called dibs on aasimar, which is why he capped off aasimar. Tieflings are still 100% in, I was hoping we'd have one as a matter of fact! Only one, because like someone else said above, a whole butt ton of the same less common race is silly ;p #iamthespecialestsnowflake Anyways, I had asked for clarification because I was reading your background and thought I was missing something. Two paragraphs isn't long, so I thought asking you for more info would be better than just being confused about your character. It hadn't been an attack on the app, I just wanted more info instead of just dismissing it after a quick read through. Needless to say, I'm helping Rat go over backgrounds so I'm trying to stay up on the current apps. As a side note, I'm totally the GM's favorite. I mean, he's touched my butt so none of you can really compete. But, I'm here for good RP, not "Mememe!" RP. I am happiest playing a support role both mechanically and in roleplay. It's all about the interactions through the whole party. Hope that's a comfort to anyone who thinks I'm trying to be the star. I'm playing a solo campaign for that ;p
Ingrid how do you plan on explaining why being drow has no impact on her life, even being the wrong color for a drow? 1/4 human blood isn't going to mask 3/4 worth of drow. Drow are notoriously dark skinned, so I'm not sure how she ended up white. Even drow half elves are explained to usually have dusky skin that looks purple or blueish in some light. If being drow has 0 impact on her, why not just make her an elf? I mean, elf stats are even better for an alchemist anyways unless your archetype runs off cha?

Pekoe creeps closer, careful to avoid stirring the goblin. She only hesitates a moment before plunging the end of her rapier into the helpless green creature. Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Zisel, slightly surprised the whole thing hadn't blown up in her face after a moment to reflect on her impulsive action, smiled at her handy work. Mirri would have found it easy to lead Zisel off to the others as they pondered crossing the frozen river. Being less cautious around ice than most others as a general rule she eased a foot out and gave it a test with her weight. She then looked about for a decent sized river rock buried under the snow, using her dagger to pry it from the frozen ground if need be. She tossed the stone across the icy surface, listening for any watery echos that may suggest thin ice. To see if she figures the ice thick enough to walk across
Anecdote time! The idea to throw a rock and listen for thin ice come from this one time I was up in the Kananaskis and there was a frozen Lake we were hiking by. Anyways, I found a midsized rock and tossed it out, and the whole Lake echoed from under the ice. It honestly sounded like a blue whale or something was making its deep sounds under the ice. The ice was pretty thin (maybe a few inches deep) and the edges had not fully frozen. Ofc I had to throw more rocks and every time it made the eerie echoing sounds, changing pitch depending on how close to the edge the rock landed and skidded. I still have no idea how it worked, but it's probably in my top five childhood memories!

I believe Zisel's constant endure elements against cold weather negates my need for the Fort saves, correct? It works down to -45°C/-50°F Zisel looks about as her new found companions start to slowly succumb to the hard cold of winter. Not that it was winter, but with this weather there was really no difference. Her cloak was not particularly thick and warm, but she clearly needed it less than the others. "Here," she said to Mirri as the arctic elf set to work helping the others keep warm. Zisel held forward her own cloak for the elf to take. "You seem to know what you are doing. Give it to who needs it most. The cold never bothered me anyways." *snickers away in the corner*

Kali'da was never the shy sort, though she was quite secretive. It was a religious leader's job to be involved with the people of her community, and for the meantime she seems to have adopted the folks aboard the Jenivere as her current charges. But, these people were ben kudu which barred her from practicing the usual rituals she'd have liked to for them. This is her first time on such a vessel and her curiosity is not hard to see. She'll often entertain herself by examining even the most mundane parts of the ship and try to work out how it all fits together in the bigger picture. She often observes the crew as they work everything from the rigging to swabbing decks and has asked for instruction on the simpler tasks. She is quite proud of her new found skill in tying off the ropes! If she is ever asked where she is going or why, she simply explains that she is going to find her people, wherever they may be and says no more on the topic. If pressed, she will frown with the same disappointed look that most mothers have mastered until the topic is dropped. Aerys Mavato

Pekoe gives the priest a double thumbs up and strolls right in, tails swaying contentedly behind her. "Nice place ya got here," she exclaimed politely, before she even took a good look. Complimenting someone's abode or workplace was always polite as far as she was concerned. "I'm Pekoe, and these are all my new accomplices," she said waving a hand behind her towards her comrades. "But down to business. Is it true zombie will use special straws to suck large brains, like my friend Davlamin's here, right out of someone's skull?" The skeptically inquisitive look she gave up to the priest marked her questions as serious despite its ludicrous nature.
