I get excited every time I see a Mummy's Mask go up and yet I've never gotten the chance to actually play one >.< But I TOTALLY have a character that's been kicking around forever for this! She was originally a Peri-blooded Aasimar, but that's hardly important. I can easy use an Ifrit. Just wanted to get my over-enthusiastic "dot" in now since I have no idea how short you plan on making this recruitment. I'll get more up about her ASAP!
Whitney and Being a Separatist: Glad it wasn't too much of a read! The paizo forums always makes longer chunks of text look so tedious. Very tiresome on the eyes if you go full screen. Q~Q I'll admit there was a ton of back and forth when it came to picking my crunch. It was a huge toss up between going vanilla and taking the Trickery domain, or taking the Separatist archetype and going with the domain I felt was more thematic for her while still fitting in with her deity. Fluffwise, I prefer to think of it not so much as a "she's splintered from the Asmodean main religion" so much as a "Asmodeus has a different plan for her". She's less of a traditional cleric preacher type and more of a warpriest tactician and strategist, and her deity has seen fit to grant her more appropriate support for her role in his ascent back to power. Her backstory does skip over how she pours over books on military strategy and past wars. She's playing the long game, but her end goal is to bring a war to the Mitrans. She's got maps of Talingarde marking points of religious and military importance and charts of the resources that would be required to do anything about them. Hopefully that's enough fluff to justify taking the archetype! Oh! As a side note, I do have the crunch and a bit of fluff ready for her cohort (as I mentioned before a lot is based on introducing the foundations and reasoning for her having the leadership feat and the organization that went with it!). I just wasn't sure if I should bother including it with the app. If you want it, just let me know and I'll get it up when I get home to my PC tonight.
Background:
This background is built around the concept of having the Leadership feat, and introduces the idea of her having an oranization. Also I'm so so sorry about just how long this got. I got CRAZY carried away! Whitney Redcoat was raised in a strict household that her older sister liked to refer to as a boot camp. It wasn't far from the truth. Their father was a strict military man who liked his family to keep up certain appearances and behaviors at all times. While this brought out the worst in her rebellious older sister, it seemed to bring out the best in Whitney. Routine was a comforting factor in Whitney's life. She liked things predictable and she liked knowing exactly what was expected from her. It made life simple; "A place for everything, and everything in its place." She never did understand her sister's need to bend the rules. Nothing good ever seemed to come of it from what Whitney could tell. It came as no surprise to anyone in the Redcoats' inner circle that they were devout worshipers of Asmodeus. They practiced their faith quietly as their family always had since the Mitrans had taken over the place so long ago, and paid lip service to Mitra when necessary to avoid religious persecution. But you can only hide your true nature for so long. Eventually, the Knights of Alerion sniffed out Whitney's family and charged her mother as a witch who, according to them, "cavorted with devils" and charged her father with espionage. Whitney's older sister evaded charges by denouncing her faith and pleading for the forgiveness of Mitra. Whitney herself was still just a minor and was sent to live with a distant cousin who was a member of the Mitran clergy. The Mitrans made an enemy the moment they splintered Whitney's family. She made a vow to herself on the carriage ride to her new home, one that promised to put an end to the tyrannical rule of the Mitrans. In her adolescent mind, that was the only way to restore order back to her life. She knew she had to be careful and secretive, which meant she had to follow the new rules of her new life. She read the holy texts of Mitra and attended religious services. She even wore the holy symbols. To anyone looking in, she did appear to be trying to convert to the Mitran way of life. Of course she wasn't. Whitney spent long nights writing letters to old friends of her parents, picking her words carefully to form double meanings and drop subtle hints inquiring about their own loyalties. At first she heard no response, but slowly return letters found their way into her hands. Most of the replies were polite responses that held nothing of value, but a few others held small shreds of information. It took years (nearly a decade to be more specific), but she eventually put together enough scraps to form a bigger picture. Her parents had been involved with a small organization faithful to Asmodeus who intended to raise him back to his proper position as the dominant God of Talingarde. They primarily focused on trying to corrupt the Kingdom from the inside out, but they had reached too far too fast, leading to the capture, and execution, of her parents. Without Whitney's father to keep them organized, the group fell apart. Well, if organization was what they lacked, organization was what Whitney would give them. She gave the fractured group instructions to look for the weak and exploitable in positions they could use to gain access to information and resources. She had them bribe the greedy and intimidate those who had anything to lose. Any books, holy symbols, or other contraband that related to Asmodeus were gathered and brought to Whitney who kept them under loose floorboards. Though they still lacked numbers, she had at least succeeded in turning the group into a well oiled machine. Now she just has to be patient. There's no sense in going into a war you cannot win. You had to guarantee your success before there was even a point. That was just good planning. They needed more numbers; an army, really. For now, all she could do was chisel away at weak spots in the mighty pillar that was the Mitran church. Waiting was a hard game, but she had faith that Asmodeus would open a door for her soon.

Roleplay Post Example My personal favorite roleplay post. There was a lot to respond to and a lot to try to convey as an introductory post for a heavily modified RotRL campaign. Combat Post Example
Me as a Player: I hate not introducing myself at least a touch. I'm a 27 year old Canadian and I am a private Nanny. I've got posting via mobile down to an exact science, with proper post formatting and everything, because I spend so many hours bored on a bus every day. I have a giant 23lb cat (clearly an important tidbit). I'm just coming back to the Paizo forums from a 4 month break after I was forced to drop all my campaigns when I got a new job that required painfully long hours. Fortunately, those hours are now a thing of the past! I've picked back up with a couple of my old campaigns (guess they liked me!) and I'm looking to add a campaign or two to my plate!
Cleric! Focus and Foible:
Focus: Wis Foible: Str Dex: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Con: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Int: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 Cha: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 Wow dem mental stats. Apparently a purely caster cleric is in my future. Anyways, a question or two before I start building... Is worshiping Asmodeus mandatory, or are there other acceptable godly powers to bend knee to? I do understand that the character is bound to serve Asmodeus.
I'm definitely interested in taking Leadership feat, especially with my rolls. I'd love to get some more info about the organization system! Do you still get a cohort to go with it?
I can't seem to find this addressed anywhere, though my Google-fu isn't quite what it used to be. The main feature of a Herb Witch is Herb Lore (Ex), which does a few really neat (imo) things including making use of Profession (herbalist). Herb witches are masters of herbalism, and can use their herbs to duplicate many of the effects of alchemy, as well as craft tinctures of their own. An herb witch can attempt a Profession (herbalist) check in place of any Craft (alchemy) check and gains a bonus on Profession (herbalist) checks equal to half her class level. Alright, pretty straight forward. The archetype also forces you to take the Cauldron hex at second level. Again, pretty straight forward. So, here's where I cringe a bit: the Cauldron hex grants an insight bonus to Craft (alchemy), which is essentially replaced by Profession (herbalist) for Herb Witches. I get that Cauldron still gives a feat (Brew Potion, for those unfamiliar with it), but it also means you're getting forced into a hex you can only partially utilize. While I definitely like fluff of it all, I do hate being forced into something I can only partly use. Am I missing something somewhere? Or is this worded as intended? On a side note, if I am reading this right, would it be acceptable for a player to request that the +4 from the Cauldron hex applies to crafting potions with Profession (herbalist) instead?
Witchborn from Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Races Witchborn:
Most changelings are talented witches. They gain a +2 bonus to Intelligence and Charisma instead of a +2 bonus to Wisdom and Charisma. This racial trait alters the changeling's racial ability score modifiers. It's basically just making witch more appealing for changelings, since their fluff makes it the perfect class for them.

I'll make a proper application when I get off work, but in the meantime I'm thinking about a Changeling druid or witch. Kind of up in the air and the dice didn't narrow it down for me. Either way I'd be looking at building for support with buffs/debuffs!
Hey, sorry for my continued flakiness. Honestly, even after adjusting to my new routine, I honestly just don't have enough hours during my work week to sit down and catch up on posts, let alone make my own. Weekends are about the only times i have to sit at my PC and write something up. I'm actually just a nanny, but the parents have a strict "no phones" rule so I don;t even get to sneak time in there. It's a temporary position, lasting between 3 and five months. That said, I don't expect anyone to wait on me that long. It was certainly not a hitch I had foreseen when I joined the campaigns, anyways. I'm not 100% sure how to approach this. I'd love to keep this campaign going, even if it's on hiatus until I can post more regularly again. And no worries about replacing me in the other campaign ;P No ill will if you do, I've done this to myself!
Hi. Sorry I've been so out of touch. I just started a new job on Monday (after moving over the weekend) and it's kicking my ass in with 10 hour days and a commute that's over and hour both ways. Basically it boils down to the simple fact that I have almost no downtime during the week at the moment. Not to mention the fact that I haven't been able to catch up on sleep since Christmas with all that's going on for me. Anyways, I'm dropping most of my campaigns at the moment, but I'd like to try to stay with both of yours. It means I'm totally limited to one post a day during the week, maybe two if my breaks work out well. That said, I'm giving up trying to post in any campaign until the weekend and I have a chance to catch some real sleep rather than the crappy sleeps I've actually been getting the past few days. I hope this works for you? D:
That she's waiting to see how this plays out first. She's just getting to the point where she's really seeing that EVERYTHING is run with behind the door dealings. Her ideas on how law is made and upheld are currently in the process of being shattered. As she's never been in a political role before, she's always assumed things are done through the textbook government system protocols. Clearly that's not the case. I'm interested to see where her alignment will shift after that. She'd like to see a more iron fisted legal system (not to mention the support she wants the government to give to the likes of the Bellflower network), but she's starting to put it together that most laws get pushed through via social exchanges and personal dealings. I had planned to have her take tea with Jolatne Rubi and ask her advice on how things work around her. See if she doesn't have clues on how the government system can be worked. Then of course a trip to the library. Shut her enemies down through trivial and archaic laws (as inspired by Streve). Ideally, she'll have a chance to bring out a "ruthlessly lawful" side after a "training" montage over a weekend or something ;D
With gestalt rules in place, everyone will get both Craft and Profession, unless a Barb takes Bloodrager or something as his second. But oh well; I'll suck it up in the name of flavor! Fluff for the Fluff Gods! Skulls for the Skull Throne! Alrighty, excellent to know about the trade. Another line of questioning for you: How are caster thralls kept? In the same place as everyone else? In a little hut just outside of town? With how they seem to view them, I wasn't sure if keeping it in the house was a likely scenario! Also, what sort of things do they use casters for? Why would they want a caster for a thrall? Do they use any methods for controlling casters, or is it a bit of an honor system where they just hope the caster does't... fly away? Sorry for all the questions, just want to nail the character concept by making it fit within your setting!
"Phenomenal cosmic powers!"
So, initially I balked at the idea of my beloved caster types having to serve in the position of a thrall, but then I was hit with a sudden burst of inspiration and I'm actually loving some of the ideas I'm coming up with. Defiantly looking to submit a full caster with Incanter as one class, and I'm a touch up in the air about the other. I'm considering the Shifter class, or possibly the Mageknight or Thaumaturge. Or Hedgewitch. Or... Okay so the second class is very up in the air... Before I start investing myself in writing up a backstory, I'm curious about the relationships with the people from the south. Is there any open trade, or is it mainly just raiding? Since being a thrall would be a fairly defining point in her background, I figure I ought to have a solid foundation for how she got there in the first place, and trade relations (or lack thereof) would possibly have some influence on all that. As a side note, the Thrall campaign trait could maybe use a bit of reconsideration. I believe every class actually gets both Craft and Profession as class skills naturally!
Hmm, I feel like renting would be the most practical as she's just got here and doesn't know much about the city. And I feel like she's probably the type to over-research a major purchase before making it. East Hill seems like it'd be a good area to find something in. Seems to be the residential area and is between the two places she's probably going to need to be at most often. She doesn't require anything large, and would probably hire a cleaning lady once a week rather than have anyone on staff. Security might end up being more of an issue depending on how this whole thing plays out :P She'll avoid anything too shady looking.
Okay, I just saw this and I've been wanting to see how SoP plays as well. I've been considering using it in a campaign myself but I haven't had a chance to grind out the mechanics. I'm in a handful of AP campaigns, so something short and sweet sounds ideal. I have a character from an MMO (Dragon Nest, if anyone cares ;P) I've wanted to try to translate over to Pathfinder for quite some time. SoP seems about the only way to do it! Typically, I post in the evening or at night. My time zone is MST (GMT -7). A Handful of Questions
Character Info:
No one is smarter, sexier, or sophisticated than Ruriel. Or at least that's her opinion. Actually, she did show a lot of magical promise and was top of her class despite horrendous study habits which usually included mouthing off to anyone who tried to give her instruction. She's been held back in a few of her classes by her professors based on her poor attitude alone. Currently, she's taking a year off (at the adamant requests of her school's dean) to do some self-driven learning. Far, far away from the school. She'll do just about anything for the right price or motivation. Despite all her bad qualities, she does appreciate friends and will become very loyal (and possessive) to anyone who can stand her for more than a week.

I have no problem breaking down the math for you when it's not almost 4am! :D
Me and a friend are trying to put a character together to apply here. We've both skimmed the books before to try to learn the system basics, but we're taking a harder look at them now. Did you have a new closing date in mind? We'd love to get something together if there is still a decent time frame open to us. I saw that you had planned on choosing character this morning, but this is past that now, so I thought I'd ask! Almost all our Sci-Fi games have fallen through and we really want to scratch this itch!
So I think I have my character done-ish. I've gone with a Wildblooded Sorcerer with a Sylvan bloodline and a Wolf animal companion. I'm totally going for a very fairy tale theme. Elsie wears a red cloak and has named her Wolf companion 'Big Bad'. I figure her somatic component for spellcasting might be reciting snippets from Brothers Grimm or Mother Goose stories (which I fully intend to include while posting). I have her carrying a Book of Fairy Tales and used the pricing and weights of a Common Artisan Tool. I figured if there's musical instrument tools to aid with Perform skills, maybe a book could be a tool for Perform(oratory). Maybe even get a masterwork one later for a bonus eh, eh? :D I think the only thing I have left to do for the character’s crunch is to finish picking traits. There’s so many of them and I’m trying to stay pretty thematic and of course adhere to her background. I had originally wanted to run her as a dhampir, but I thought that unless we got a cleric or oracle necromancer running around, it wouldn’t work well for healing. Feel free to correct me if you plan on littering the campaign with potions of inflict (blank) wounds ;D I’d love to pick up that undead companion feat available to dhampirs at level 10 lol. Apologies for the length of... well, all of this. >.> Sometimes I get carried away. It can all be found on my profile as well. I've got so many aliases atm that I wanted to avoid making yet another until necessary! Elsie's Background:
Elsie grew up in a cookie-cutter house in a well to do suburban neighborhood with a loving mother and father who both worked hard to ensure Elsie had a comfortable life. She had a few close friends and an array of acquaintances. She out grew playdates a few years ago, but that didn’t stop her dad from dragging her over to his colleagues’ houses to meet their kids so he could look good. He meant well and they usually went for ice cream after so she couldn’t complain too much. Her mother was more of the stay at home type, though she did do a lot of volunteer work. Even still, she found the time to make all the meals, clean the house, and see Elsie safely to school every morning. But despite the appearance the Millers worked so hard to uphold, not all was fine and dandy. Mr and Mrs Miller had fallen out of love quite some time ago (shortly after the birth of Elsie, truth be told) and tensions always ran high until they erupted into a fury of screams. Sure, they tried to hide it from Elsie, but their efforts fell short. Nothing quite like laying alone in bed in the dark listening to your parents yelling profanities at each other! Blocking it all out was a required skill Elsie developed over time, made easier by the tablet she had gotten last Christmas. She had wanted a puppy, but after hearing her parents fight over whether or not that was a good idea, she retracted the idea. So there she was, sitting up in her room while her parents went at it again, drowning out the sound with cranked up music, funny pictures of cats, and Facebook...
Into the Game:
She must have dozed off. What’s this...? Oh, this is a weird dream. She must have fallen asleep playing one of her RPG apps. Not the first time she’s dreamed she was playing video games. Usually it was Mario, though. Wizard? No, that’s for boys... Oh, Sorcerers can be girls... She flipped through the options a few more times before settling on a human sorcerer. What the heck is a archie-taip? Oh, this one gets a pet! I’ll name him Big Bad, like the Wolf in the stories... Skill points? Uh... I guess I want to be pretty, so I’ll do that one... She hummed and hawed over the numbers a little longer before deciding she was sufficiently pretty according to the stats. A name? Why, I’m Elsie, Princess of the Fairy Tale Land! ...Oh, too many characters. Just Elsie then, I guess. She woke up again to a bright white light. ”No, momma, just five more minutes okay?” she grumbled. Bleary eyes strained to focus. ”...Momma?” This wasn’t her bed. She pushed herself up to sitting and rubbed at her eyes. ”M-momma?” This wasn’t even her house. She had heard on the news that people were going missing. ”MOMMA?!” she yelled even louder. Words flashed in front of her eyes along with various bars and numbers. What’s Gola-ree-on?
