Currently I have two basic concepts that are pretty different from each other, but I'm also waiting to see if a character of mine makes the grade in another recruitment thread (Legendary Planet goblin table; *waves at some familiar faces from that thread*). If she does, I'll likely bow out here as I don't want to potentially commit to too many games. If not, then I'll probably work on fleshing out one of my two concepts:
(1) NG/CG Female human slayer (probably either Vanguard or Deliverer archetype) that's incredibly loyal to and protective of her companions but surprisingly unconcerned with her own health and safety (unconscious death wish)
(2) CN Female goblin skald (Herald of the Horn, most likely) that has a bone to pick with demons and lives for the thrill/glory of the fight (Gorum worshiper). Could see her eventually transitioning to CG depending on how the game flows and how the other PCs interact with her.
Either character would likely be going the Champion path; will look into possible dual pathing when and if I pick one to stat up :)
Therrik
Hiya *waves*
I'm Dien, and I'm submitting Therrik, a ranger-with-falchion and, le shock (!), favored enemy evil outsiders. He's mechanically a Tanglebriar Demonslayer, with some rationale for that in his background.
Full disclosure: I've played in two WOTR campaigns so far that have both died; neither of them got us to level 2 before expiring, so I don't know that much, and I will strenuously avoid metagaming for the parts I do know.
Thanks for considering me for the game.
Calvus Torin
I am putting forth Calvus Torin, A youngish dwarf full of fighting potential. He is an Inquisitor of Bulka, dwarven god of Marriage fighting for his loved ones. Stat block in in the alias.
Mythic Path Guardian
Born to dwarven parents around the Worldwound, Calvus was never an ordinary dwarf. He grew up close to the demonic battle ground, his parents fighting, and dying for the cause when he was a we babe of three. The night they died, Calvus was also attacked by the demon. He managed to live somehow, and was taken in by his grand uncle, a minor priest of Bolka. However, he was horribly scared, with three jagged scars on his chest, and two across his face.
His uncle taught him the ways of Bulka, and Calvus almost became a priest himself. Almost. When he was fourty, he met a young dwarven lass headed to the Worldwound. Deciding to join her with his limited abilities, he went forth an Inquisitor of Bulka, not a warrior, not a priest, but something in between.
Cyithar Tialan
elf Arcanist Occultist archmage
will be making it in short order.
odd question would you allow this trait?
awakend from stasis
Rukzha Kerzuk
Three archmages in a row. Can I say bingo? Rukzha is ready for your appraisal and all information should be in the alias. This is the submission for oyzar. Since Mimesyne will be playing an oracle I moved the racial trait back to intimidate as I assume she'll have diplomacy better handled than me anyway.
GM Rat King
I didn't see anything about Dreamscarred Press and their Path of War classes (maneuvers hoy!), are they kosher by your mark?
No, sorry. As stated in the intro post: No psionics or godlings. And no PoW stuff simply because I'm not especially familiar with the classes and how they work. Whether or not it's easy to wrap your head around, I'd rather stick with what I know.
odd question would you allow this trait?
No, for two reasons. First, I don't know what the draw of even having it at all would be. You don't actually get to prepare spells more than once a day. And even if I did allow it, I'd probably rule your character still needed 8 hours of sleep not to be fatigued. Second, I'm trying to shy away from the Numeria, cyborgs, aliens stuff with this. Considering there's already angels and demons and dragons and stuff, I would hope that's fantasy enough for most people.

*whistles*
Wow. No kidding; Guardian's quite the popular path. Well, I can tinker around and swap Gwyn to a full Stolen Fury Champion if Rat'd prefer. Don't want to be stepping on anyone's toes or anything.
Oh, and congrats to Mimesyne on finishing her pick. Never seen a Purifier pulled off with any wallop...but then I've never seen one played in a campaign crammed full of Evil Outsiders, so what do I know? I'm sure you'll have great fun with it. Please take your obligatory +1 for Glorious Iomedaean Bromance.

Hey, question for DM Rat King:
Tieflings have that feat 'Fiendish Heritage' that lets them choose a different bloodline (stat changes, different skill bonuses, replace darkness 1/day with variant abilities)
I've never used the darkness ability when I played (especially now not vs demons that'd all have darkvision), but don't really want to change my stats or skill bonuses. Thus the feat is kinda awful to me.
Could I just roll once (instead of three times like the feat) and choose whatever I roll in place of the darkness 1/day? I can reroll if it ends up being too good (like the +2 XXX stat boosts). I just never end up using the spell-like, and would rather have something flavorful even if it's mechanically terrible, rather than something I will never use and isn't very flavorful.
I'd literally rather eat soot than have darkness, hahaha.

Well, last time i checked (right now) theres only like two champions,
One or two marshels, many, many guardians, one or two heirophant and a couple archmages, and one trickster...never thought guardian was so popular...
But hey what do i know, i've never played a guardian or wrath of the righteous, so I wouldn't know how good they are in this AP
GM Rat King
Could I just roll once (instead of three times like the feat) and choose whatever I roll in place of the darkness 1/day?
Before I say yes or no, is there something on that table that you're looking to get exactly? I can imagine the +4 to Int would be very attractive for an alchemist, but it's also a 1 in 100 chance you get that one.
Naali
Of course the +2 int would be extraordinarily helpful mechanically but I don't think that'd be too fair to the other players if I got +4 to a main stat without spending at least the feat.
I'm trying to fill the trickster role and that's normally more a rogue thing, so I don't have the same class skills that help out. There's a +2 diplomacy that'd be cool, or the +2 Cha (never used in my build other than skills, would make me have a +0 modifier). That'd help me fill the role really well without giving an unfair bpnus.
Also a fan of the see in darkness (perfect dark vision, even through magical darkness). Very cool, bit is only handy rarely.
Ven'Jar
Ven'Jar, son of Shax:
Mythic Path: Trickster
The crunch, character description, and the full, much longer Background is in his profile:
Ven’Jar travelled for a few months through Ustalev and eventually accompanied a gypsy caravan where a man by the name of Farahan took him under his wing. The caravan was a group of travelling entertainers and Farahan was a dervish. He taught Ven’Jar the importance of finesse over strength, and how effective a light blade, even a knife, can be in the right hands. The caravan reached Starfall where Ven’Jar bid Farahan good-bye and spent the next 5 ½ years in Starfall entertaining with the skills Farahan had taught him. He came out of his favorite drinking hole one night (or was it early morning) to a fight in the street. It wasn’t much of a fight as it was just an armored man grabbing a small, frail looking man by the collar, nearly lifting him off the ground. The armored man then grabbed the pouch the frail man was holding. Ven recognized the ring coming from the pouch, it was a coin purse. Ven moved quietly to step in. “He’s stealing from the weak,” the shadowy voice in his head told him. “How many other times has this man bullied poor, helpless folk. You need to do something. He needs a taste of his own medicine.” With that Ven snuck up behind the armored man pulling his dagger quietly as he moved, and just when he was about to bring the dagger to his neck, the holy symbol of Iomedae burned his chest. Ven, startled, kicked a rock in the street and the armored man turned around. “Stab him in the neck. Do it NOW!” The voice told him, but just before he was about to strike, he recognized the symbol braised on the chest plate of the man standing in front of him, it was the symbol of Iomedae. The man’s name was Baldrik. He was a crusader, leaving in the morning for the Worldwound. The coinpurse actually belonged to an elderly lady who was walking up to Baldrik now. Ven apologized. Baldrik asked if he would join him. In the morning Ven would head to Kenabres with Baldrik and company. He had a war to fight, and had to prove to himself once and for all his resolve is stronger than his father's influence.
On his 19th birthday Ven’Jar walked into Kenabres.
I know it’s outside the norm a bit, but I chose Touched by Divinity (Iomedae) for my campaign trait as it fits my background better. Let me know if you have any questions.

This character is one very near and dear to my heart. I've actually been playing her in PFS for some time now (she's almost level 11), and I adore playing her. Perhaps later in the recruitment process, I can link to you PbPs and such she has done in her PFS incarnation to give you an idea of how I RP her.
She is up for another Wrath of the Righteous campaign right now, and I should know in a few days whether I get in or not.
Let me know if there is anything else you need from me or if I missed anything.
Edinoiz
Currently looking at the swashbuckler, more specifically an inspired blade one, going the trickster path.
So I have a quick question, would you say that the Piranha Strike feat would work with a rapier? Core says no, thematics says sure, my build says it would like it very much, and I ask please may it?
What do you say?
CaptainFord
Actually, scratch my earlier divine hunter archetype - I think I'd go with the Chosen One archetype and give him an Ioun Wyrd as a partner. He just follows his familiar because he likes shiny gems, and he considers the wyrd his, so he just tag along.
And he just spends the entire adventure looking for new stones to add to his wyrd's collection. Totally oblivious to the overwhelming evil. "...what demons? Ooooooh! Shiny! I want it! Now!"

I've not yet finished typing things up for this, but I am incredibly interested. Wrath of the Righteous has always been an Adventure Path that interested me, but as my group of players are fairly new to role-playing in general, they've elected to go through the campaigns more or less in order. Who knows, maybe sometime I'll convince one of them to GM for a change and let me play, but oh well! I think I have the stats crunch set up more or less correctly on this alias. The background has yet to be typed--it's more or less semi-legible scrawls in the notebook I took to work this morning at this point!--but I'll have it added this evening once I'm home.
The character I hope to play is an elven rogue, aiming for the Trickster Mythic Path. Please, do let me know if I've messed up the stats in any particularly spectacular way.
Thanks!

Of course the answer is yes. Because Gwyn would love to own a bunny. She would hug it and feed it and buy it pretty symbols of Iomedae and then maybe take it out to dinner and...
Wait. Wait, Gwyn--are we talking about the same thing?
"Sure?" She proceeds to pull out her September edition of Shelyn's Secret, as if the pages somehow speak for themselves.

Mind, I'm speaking for myself here, not for the GM, but I would imagine that each of the two paragraphs should be complete unto itself. That may mean three sentences or it might mean eight, as long as the paragraph itself forms a cohesive whole. Jamming a ton of ideas into one paragraph might not be the best way to get a point across, but if you can connect the thoughts in a way that flows well, it can be fairly easy to condense a background into a short summary. :)

Well now knowing that
Tért Snàkoo (or Turt Snacko to his human friends) was a strange child to his clutch, mostly because of the fact that he is human and not a nagaji. being the only human in a entire tribe would probably have some negative effects on a child’s mind, but not Turts ‘s, to him the nagaji were all he could ever ask for. But just because Turt was happy with being there does not mean that he was accepted by everyone. While training, Turt was kidnapped and thrown into the Worldwound by a group of nagaji who hated humans. Turts was quickly set upon by cultist who beat the boy into submission and took him as a subject for a ritual of some kind, but they made a mistake and instead of the ritual corrupting Turt, it empowered him.
He then escaped and wandered the wasteland for 6 months, hunting and killing lesser demons for food and drinking from the corrupted water, not knowing the ritual was the reason he could do this and not get corrupted. He was found by a Ranger named fox and brought to Kenebras, where he was imprisoned at age 14 for 5 years by members of the crusade who thought him corrupted, he would instead have been killed if not for fox argueing on his behalf. He was set free the day of the festival and given new armor and weapons as a apology his first plan is to go to the church to see what’s going on.

So I have a quick question, would you say that the Piranha Strike feat would work with a rapier? Core says no, thematics says sure, my build says it would like it very much, and I ask please may it?
Yes, that is fine with me. I've got a lot of love for Dex to damage and swashbucklers in general.
When you say two paragraphs, how many sentences do you want max in each
Ehhh. I'm not much of a stickler for sentence-count in paragraphs. Generally speaking, if it looks like a paragraph is absolutely enormous, that's too many. But for the most part, just use good judgment to figure it out.
Now, to all, I'm seeing a lot of great backstories but also a few slightly concerning trends. I'd like to nip those in the bud now, while there's still time. While I'm all for trying something out of the ordinary and different with your character, please try to leave major lore fixtures out. For instance, you were not raised by royalty of anything; if you were, you wouldn't be cavorting with the common folk and have no reason to be in the AP in the first place.
The way that the AP will be starting, you are in Kenabras for the Armasse festival. Give your character a reason to be there, and preferably a reason to WANT to be there. Maybe this city is your home, maybe you're visiting friends, maybe you just happened to be here on business. But at the end of the day, you're going to be part of a group of unlikely heroes. Make me believe that your character has that spark of greatness inside them.
oyzar
The idea was to have a tighter connection to my patron, which is often just a whole lot of rule text. Still, I will be fixing it, probably by reworking it completely. Would you be ok with reflavoring the Riftwarden Orphan trait slightly? Sure my character will still be an orphan from at least one riftwarden, but wouldn't really have grown up in Mendev/Kenabres?

Ok...now knowing that here is take 4

Ps. Ever time i change the back story i fall in love more and more with this character, so thanks, even if I don't make the cut I am not letting this character go

Rukzha endured a rough childhood, being treated worse than a slave as the shaman’s apprentice. She learned about her mother from the other orcs, tidbits they had picked up from her time in captivity. She started yearning for a life outside the tribe and to get to know more about her mother. Luckily she was a quick learned and she picked up the skills from the orc shaman quite quickly until one day she was powerful enough that she managed to successfully escape. Life on the road was still rough for a young half-orc facing all the prejudice of the world. She heard about Mendev, a land where everyone were accepted, as long as they were good and willing to fight against the demons, a place where everyone could prove their worth. She also learned that Mendev might be a good place to start finding more information about the Riftwardens and her mother. After a grueling journey fraught with hardships and dangers she finally arrived in Kenabres, looking to better her lot in the world.
Kinvara Doone
|
Here is Kinvara's background, it is also included on her sheet in the profile.
Born in the arena pits of Cassomir, Kinvara is an unusual half-orc. Her mother was an orc gladiator and her father a patron. Kin grew up among the orc gladiators of the pit, learning the weapons of the arena, and the tribal traditions of the orcs. Her childhood was still difficult, but she found release in the stories of the crusaders passing through. Shortly after her fifth birthday, Kinvara's mother died in the arena. At that time she was taken in by the clan shaman of the pit and transfered to Kenabres.
In Kenabres, she was attacked one night by a succubus that had wormed its way through the wards. The demon was killed while feeding on her. While she survived, it took a long time for her to recover. Several years later her father finally tracked her down and bought her contract from the arena. A sturdy lass arena trained and dreaming of the glory of the crusades against the Worldwound, Kinvara began training to become a knightly crusader. Her faith in Iomedae and her desire to make a better world gained her notice and favor from Iomedae who granted her divine powers of the paladin.
