It was a great news. Kingmaker is one of a kind among the APs.

I guess two thing is necessary:

1) Multisystem stats - PF1e, PF2e and D&D5e. As stated that 5e could have some stats blocks, the why not chunck all the relevant versions into it. As good 90s magazines. (No, i won't ask for GURPS tho)

2) ERRATAS and Plus! There are plenty of little (or some greater) modifications posted in Kingmaker forumsto improved the experience like more foreshadow of the main plot earlier; more in number and in complexity of side quests related to the main plot; more opportunity pre-Stolen Lands in Restov; well caracterized NPCs (the groups of other charters and random NPC); Kingdom/Settlement/Building administration rules reworked to balance; Mass Combat rules reworked to balance; Some alternative ends.

This is gonna ROCKs!

I guess the ideal is keeping these forum as it is, and create a new one to 2nd edition, and then create a cross edition one (for conversions, lore, etc...) which both of them (1ed 2ed) could reach from both ends.

One of my players will be a Trapper and wanted to buy some of that Bear Trap listed by 2gp in Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Advanced Player’s Guide (d20pfsrd link).

But under Traps (where I used to understand the traps on Trap Filled Glade section) there is another Bear Trap (pack of 12) that by definition of the Crafting: Traps rules costs 1.000gp, and both ones are disturbing similar.

My homebrew rules about it, made with the player:

- We try to get the rule of the craft and figured it out how are the 2gp one.

- The homebrew rule we use is modifying a bit the Table: CR Modifiers for Mechanical Traps to include CRs lower than 1, like 1/2, 1/3. So let's say if you take Perception DC 15 from 20, you only reduce de CR by 1/2, instead -1.

- We kept this thinking and extrapole to the cost until we get that 2gp trap.

Math:

- knowning a pack of 12 Bear TRap CR1 is 1000gp, we got 85 gp per trap.
- Perception 20 -> 15 = 85gp -> 41gp
- DC 20 -> 15 = 41gp -> 20gp
- +10 attack -> +5 attack = 20gp -> 10gp
- 2d6+3 damage -> 1d6+2 damage = 10gp -> 5gp
- Disable Device 20, Escape Artist 22, Strengh 26 -> DD 15, EA 15, Str 20 = 5gp -> 2gp

We ended up with:
Lesser Bear Trap
CR 0 (or 1/8) (Cost 2g each)
Perception 15 CD 15
+5 attack (1d6+2 dmg)
Str 18

It was a way to balance that specific trap using (even modified) the craft traps rules.

What do you guys think?

Hello everyone... Yes, it's me.. No, not Mario...

Some days ago, arrived to me the information of the plot-twist of the game development and I start to read forums, articles, GW blog. And if you don't mind, I want to share my point of view.

Before I start, I don't intend to bring an untold truth or being the mouth of the masses. I just want to share my thoughs. I did not intended to bash the dead corpse, or even insult anyone. Please, take it easy.

I was one of the PnP players that was taunted to PFO by the brand. What exactly I was expected, even I didn't clarify too much. I think I hoped for the same fellings of the RPG PnP with a strategic settlement game. Maybe it was my fault to not understand well the real objective of the game when we (me and 5 others friends) bidded the Kickstarter.

The thing is, point by point, we were being frustrated in our envision of the game. And when we understood what is the plan for the game, we did not want to play it. (There was some particular problems that occur concomitantly that time, but not the point).

So, I and my ex-futures-guilds didn't agree with the general direction of the game, but I guess the main reason was to our overly attachtment with PnP Pathfinder, and let's face that trying the game early was not a good argument to chance this sensation. But we understand that the fault is not of Ryan personally, as the question tend to point it out.

The points that are Coup-de-Grace to me was the poorly animation of character, confusing character development, mindless grinding and the lack of fantasy (history, plot, the sensation of being part of something bigger). I understand that these points were criticized by a lot of people that do not care about such fluffy things, but this is what makes fantasy games fun, in my humble opinion. So since we understand we were not having fun in the game, we let it go. Simple like that.

There were a lot of more technical post in here, trying to explain more accurately why the game is at risk of being shut down. That was just my personal and honest answer.

But then why do you come back here?

Because I always was around here in Paizo foruns (mostly reading than posting), never left. And in the end, deeply inside, I still hope PFO would become a proper game, fun and complex, (even if it was not what we thought) to me and my friends want to play it.

EDIT: There were others technicalls problems that frustrated us, related to PDFs, minis and KS rewards. But it was all past now. They are not the main reasons to depart us from game, but they were minors.

Good to see you here Bludd, Nihimon, Duff, Avena, KC. Still caring and being constructive.

Take care folks, best of luck for PFO!

I must say the idea behind Thod's Friend (now EL) is amazing.

I am one of the folks that came here because the tabletop, with all the expectations from being it. But while I was discovering what will be the game, my expectations were shattered.

Said that, I don't think anyone can tell what other settlement must or must not be by only proclaming it. You must not only earn it, but fight for it, defend and attack properly. Let them declare itself as it and work for it. Some people call it Freedom to choice.

IMHO, all the friendly will be post aside when EL settlement get a tower that your settlement were planning to get. When a caravan will be attacked inside EL's territory and they won't move a finger to defend. And that is not meaning they will be different from they are now. Reviewing the posts where Kabal was rising their numbers in the end of land rush, there was a lot of "friendly" warning by only a reference on who kabal could move from place, just an exemple.

All the neutrality of switzerland will be questioned when (and if) they found oil in their soils.

Lion Council support Freevale in their needs and popular emotions in every way as we can, and I´m sure Aragon and entire UNC think the same way. But, is really that bad having a central administration (leader, council, or else) than have to discuss even small matters with all before a decision?

Administration wide, a greek democracy is not ideal and even it's a harmfull way to manage an endeavor. A central leadership, accordant with the general idea of the group's objectives, could lead to a better development in long term.

While the pressure of third part will be hard (specially by those who want to take some advantages from it by recruiting leavers, per exemple), I guess the better thing to do is assembly to discuss the matter. Otherwise, those harmfull malicious third part influence could make it worse than it is.

Lion Council are with you guys. Hoping for the best!

So it supports 2+ classes vs. the 3 that others can.

Like Clerics must have one-step alignement from their god.

Why not turn Paladin role to a Warrior of the God, for each god (and their alignement)? I that way we still have the vanilla Paladin, but have others similar types of others alignements:

LG - Paladin
LN - Law's Enforcer
LE - Slaver
NG - Benevolent
TN - Balance Bringer
NE - Malevolent
CG - Liberator
CN - Usurper
CE - Antipaladin

Thinking on PF-RPG it's easy to create the powers, but the description is a bit trickier.

But them we will fall in Barbarian and Assassin balance as well.

So I guess the fairest:

Paladin - Lawful
Barbarian - Chaotic
Assassin - Evil
Something (a Healer?) - Good

Order... uhmmm..

I think, Lawful is not about laws, but order. Order in the sense of a structured system or well patterned of behavior.

While chaos is not only about entropy, but randomness, disorder, not possible to pattern or too much arbitral variation in different scales.

While the definitions of the order and chaos evolve thought the systems (from D&D 1 to D20), they tend to separate the lawful to a consevationist and the chaotic to a destructor. In this aspect, subjectively, pursue a well defined objetive is a well patterned behavior, rhus order. Maybe not a suficient pattern to rule every aspect of people behavior, to label him at lawful alignement.

And of course, neighter lawful or chaotic have to be an iconic representation and spreader of those aspects. Well, because I behave of determinated way, doesn't mean automatic I want everyone behave the same way. I can see Order in order/chaos balance while I can enjoy the Chaos in order/chaos balance.

You asked an easy one: T7V and Phaeros are dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, which can, in our estimation, have no alignment of its own. All knowledge is worthy of pursuit, investigation, and understanding, and we can't afford limited human understandings like alignment to get in the way.

Contructive Criticism is a trying to enhance the OUTCOME, while focusing in the WORK not the PERSON. Not to enhance the Idea itself.

If the idea is not good, even when improved (as the exemple of werewolves and vampires imho), a statement "I don't think this idea could be implemented" is a constructive criticism in the way that would enhance the OUTCOME by not being done at all.

Remember that opinions are always subjective, and disagreement are not always personal. But people in here (and all around internet) tend to forget this.

Now the reals questions:

What the hell a Guide and his Student will be doing in an open PvP Window place or a Feud/War Territory other than participate the PvP? Since the Guide will be a well know player, it's unlikely they will confuse things so basic as locations and open PvP places.

Well, the road of not-understanding the "positive gameplay" was in RA discussion and ended with the understanding that positive gameplay is entirely meta-game behavior. Not for being IC a good guy, but behave in a not destructive way inside the game and politely and constructive outside it towards a better community.

And I guess in characters decision are vainly related with RA's positive gameplay, unless you were wanting to mean that only Lawful-Good have "positive gameplay" experience. But then I'm afraid your interpretation of it is idiosyncratic and not well passed with the entirely RA understandings, based on what being said in that topic.

The Topic.

And now I´m confused, because you were there and participated the entirely discussion to do not understand the interpretation placed there.

roleplay=on
Chaotics signing contracts? WUT?

In the role roleplay field do not work that way. It will work, more or less, this way:

Quote:

The big chief holding a 6 feet Sword in one hand, will ask the caravaneer some monetaries advantages, and after paying will shout to her band:
"GIRLS, this woman is able to pass through our lands unharmed, the one who touch her will be impaled"

When the MALE caravaneer will try to argue:
"Chief, I'm not a woman."

The chief will look top to button and say (not shouting, so not anyone will hear):
"Pathetic! Our women are stronger than you. Do you need to contract them to protect your caravan?"

Everyone laughs. The chief will rise the price for protection and will send the womens as guards to prove your weakness. If you don't agree will rob you anyway while you go away.

roleplay=off
