Are you looking for a company with a membership that is calm, polite, and professional? Where issues will always be decided through strictly structured democratic process and the decision to go to war will never be taken lightly?

Then this sure as hell isn't the place for you! Welcome to the Sentinels of The Echo Wood. This is a group for avid PvPers who like to skip the legalistic crap, cut through the red tape, and jump straight into the fray. You're welcome to bring your beer to discussions on any important issues, but don't expect them to last long.

Who Should Join The Sentinels?

While we have no hard age restrictions, the Sentinels are aimed at young adults interested in PvP and a generally good time. We are already mixed gender and are open to mixed ethnicity/sexual orientation as well. We're a rowdy, diverse, fun loving group. This is not the kind of group you join, go do your own thing so much we don't even really know who you are, and then ask for support when things get rough. This is a family looking to maintain tight bonds and work together to a very high degree. This is not because this is what is written in our rules, but because you shouldn't be here unless you want to be a part of the group.

What Are Your Ambitions?

The Sentinels are currently a very small group and we intend to stay that way. We have no desire for controlling territory of our own or taking in non-combat oriented characters. We want no more than 30 actual players and are aiming to maintain 50 or less characters (including alts) in our entire group to maximize our influence gains which will be spent on feuds, wars, and perks that strengthen our combat effectiveness. The ideal group size to us would be 10-15 highly active core members and friends/family and alts.

That said, we hope to have a big impact on the game. We are extremely experienced in guerrilla warfare tactics from other Open World PvP games and have defeated so many opposing groups I could not even recall all of their names to you. In PFO, we are looking to establish the longest most impressive list of defeated groups any organization in the game can boast.

Our target selection is not random. We target two types of groups:

1. Anyone who we feel we can further the causes we believe in by defeating.
2. Anyone who messes with our membership.

If you join us, you will end up fighting wars with groups because someone wronged a member of our group and failed to make amends. If you become a member of our family, you can expect that if someone wrongs you, we will back you up with the same zeal we would any other member. This is not the kind of group where someone treats you like crap, we acknowledge you're in the right, but we ask you to bite your tongue just to avoid a political situation. We fear nobody, take crap from nobody, and absolutely nobody will get away with mistreating our membership.

You'll find that this sets us apart from the larger groups who are more concerned with their diplomatic standing in the community and are less eager for wars. They will not go to such lengths to back up any of their individual members.

What Kind of Play Can I Expect in The Sentinels?

The Sentinels are not an organized army. We are a group of highly skilled guerrilla fighters. We aren't going to stand and fight a hopeless battle to preserve our "honor". If the situation looks bad we will retreat and attack at another point.

That being said, we never give up and we never surrender. We simply fight efficiently and don't make needless sacrifices. We'll do whatever it takes to win short of violating the game's rules.

We're going to be moving around, generally as a group, hunting enemy targets as we coordinate our efforts on Teamspeak on an extremely consistent basis. You should expect to be doing more of that than anything else.

Expect that, whatever character you play, it will need to be fast-moving and likely cross-trained in stealth (based on stealth's current state, you may only need to put a level or two into it but that may very likely change). This may make it impossible to play certain races and builds within The Sentinels. As previously stated, we will intentionally be limiting our own size. If you absolutely must play a heavily-armored dwarven fighter who moves slow and has no stealth, we have no problem saying that build doesn't fit into our tactics and this probably isn't the group for you.

Backstory and Roleplay

The Sentinels are a brotherhood formed to protect lands of the Echo Woods from abuse and its citizens from injustice and oppression. It was founded by hunters, druids, rebels, and rabble rousers. Those not quick and cunning have already been thinned from our ranks by our many enemies leaving behind a group of experienced fighters prepared to face any foe.

As a Sentinel, your character is likely very at-home in the woods and trained in basic survival tactics. Very likely, you have a respect in nature. Many sentinels will use every part of a creature they kill, and no Sentinel hunts the creatures of nature purely for sport.

The curse of lycanthropy is known to be present among the ranks of The Sentinels and reverence for Ashava is common in our organization. Lycanthropes seeking acceptance in a world that generally shuns them may be drawn to The Sentinels for this reason. This gives the rest of society even more reason to shun the already headstrong, unashamed, and eccentric Sentinels.

Political Structure

We have made the decision to abolish a formal system of government because it is completely unnecessary for a group our size. That is not to say that nobody else's opinions and experience will be considered, but that power in this group comes through proving your experience and earning our respect. Your opinion is not given weight simply because you exist and draw breath.

Again, this is meant to be a tight-knit group, so establishing solid relationships with the rest of the group is key to everything including gaining influence over our decisions and authority within our ranks. I guarantee that if you know what you're talking about and get along well with the other members, your opinion will have more weight.

How Do I Join?

Apply here to start the initiation process. This is not a quick or simple process, but it's intended to be easy to pass if you have what it takes and are dedicated to joining us.

After you submit your application, the next step will be arranging a Teamspeak meeting with Amora or myself. We have a dedicated Teamspeak 3 server. Teamspeak usage for group activities is an absolute requirement, so if you don't have a microphone, you'll need to get one before we can do the interview.

Don't you hate it when the active personality changes mid-post?

The Empyrean Order thread is written by me and edited by the poster as well. So I guess Lifedragn is me too?

Well that's honest at least. XD

I consider that a selling point for our target audience. We are here to fight wars and we want members who enjoy fighting.

I was in some groups on Darkfall where someone within the group would get treated like crap and they would be told to just deal with it to avoid political indecent. This even included members of a group I was in getting killed and looted by allies who never apologized or returned their gear.

That's not how we operate. If someone wrongs a member of The Sentinels we rally behind them and bring swift retribution.

I hope "who was at fault?" matters at least somewhat, or you may end up with a member of The Sentinels who goes completely off the deep end and begins taking actions where backup from The Sentinels won't help, such as attacking powerful allies due to some perceived slight, or even "let's see what happens if I...".

Thank you for mentioning this issue. This is one of the primary reasons why we are keeping the group small and tight-knit. Though we are chaotic, starting wars for no apparent reason is not what we are about.

If a Sentinel brings an issue to light, all factors will be considered and an adequate (albeit brief) investigation will take place. Attempts to make false accusations will be met with swift and severe punishment which may include loss of membership.

I'd like to throw in we have what is in all likelihood the highest standards of acceptance of any group in the game.

I do not expect people who have put forth the effort it takes to get through our acceptance process to endanger their membership by starting fights and then lying to us about it.

But as Amora said, if such cases do arise when they are found out the punishment will be swift and severe.

I'd like to note that I am in fact also one of Thod's many "Shadow-Goons" lurking on the North American Continent, a sleeping agent.

Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord Gorum?

I have placed a formal application for an Ambassador role representing the Keepers of the Circle. I look forward to whatever mutual ground we can cover as Good groups focused on positive player experiences.
